Close to Train Station Bathroom extremely poor
Thank you for great advice on how to get to the airport, when to buy the ticket with no line, etc. Thank you for speaking French with me rather than assuming all Americans can only speak English.
It is in centre, very convinent for travellers, Bathroom needs to maintain, specially room no-521.
overall okay + location expensive, but it is paris
Its location across from Gare De Nord train & metro station as well as the convenient bus stops within proximity despite of the slightly rough yet safe neihborhood it is in. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were spacious with a balcony overlooking the main street and the train station. Having many restuarants just outside the hotel was definetely a plus. We were extremely comfortable. N/A
how close it was to the station. the breakfast and the staff I booked a room for my self and husband and one for my children. The children were on a different floor from us and their room was much more spacious. After checking in the staff did offer to change our room but having taken credit card details etc it seemed too much of a nuicance.
Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Spoke excellent English too. Asked for and obtained very quiet room. Ideal. Opposite Gare du Nord No - all was fine, thank you.
very close to train station
Nothing Special, It was a normal hotel matching with the value paid. The internet is not free, The room was small as twin standard size, the room service was quite poor, the breakfast was not suitable for Muslim guests.
Very convenient location room is small
Conveniently located across the street from gard nord and outside a metro station. Bars and restaurants close by. Comfortable bed. Amazing view of Sacre Coeur as our room was on the top floor. Wifi connection was good. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family. Water damage on the ceiling. Bathtub was a bit dirty. Remote control didn't work.
Comfort of my room (especially the bed - perfect support, guaranteeing full sleep at night; wonderful view over Sacré Coeur and silence from windows, despite station front). Closeness to station and transport connections.
Good hotel. Would go back. Convenient location (close to train stations and metro). Nice breakfast. Comfy and clean rooms. Nice staff. Private sauna
absolutely nothing the staff, the cheap, tacky interior, the filthyness, the rude staff constantly smoking .. the loud noisy contruction all through the night, the paper thin walls to here the lowlifes staying in the area fight, the constant sounds of sirens and distress calls.. did i mention the rude staff. the bugs and spiders in the bathroom, the lazy housekeeping service.. the stink of musty furniture throughout the place. i wouldnt even consider the food after seeing the filthy environment
Good location for our purposes between 2 great metro/RER stations. (Gard du Nord & Gare de l'est) but a bit off the beaten path. Need to work on the lighting in the bathroom - hard to see for make-up and hair. Otherwise, room was great. My daughter and I had 2 twin beds and a corner room with small balcony facing the street - it was spacious and quiet on the 5th floor. Would stay here again. Spent little time at the hotel but it was quiet, comfortable and clean and the staff was very personable. Can't speak to the food as we did not eat at the hotel at all.
We ended up at a Hotel Mademoiselle due to our Airbnb falling through. This turned out to be much better. Friendly staff, central location, and clean cozy rooms. The area is a bit dirty and dodgy at night, BUT as long as you're aware of your surroundings you'll be fine.
Staff were great and very helpful. Rooms were well appointed and nice, comfortable, and clean. Hotel was quiet and located close to metro and a number of excellent restaurants, shops, and bakeries (Mekerbeche nearby is a must-visit). 1. The shower is extremely poorly designed so that every time you use them it floods the bathroom floor with water, this makes showering a chore and could easily be avoided with some small renovations. 2. This hotel is located in a somewhat dubious area, not what you would expect, given the price you are paying.
Very clean and contemporary style. Very nice and professional hotel staff. Free coffee, tea, croissant, and free use of umbrellas. Room was not large, but plenty of space for a 4 night stay with 2 people. Great location. Exceeded our expectations in every way.
We needed a place for 1 night stopping through Paris, on the way to London next day via eurostar. The room was small but not by Paris standards. The bed and shower were perfect. The staff was super helpful and nice. For the money it was the perfect place to crash for the night.
The hotel room was on the small side but very well equipped for the price! We especially enjoyed the multi-room speaker system with headphone jack plug that we used with our iPhone to play music, the rain shower with great water pressure, the windows that overlooked the courtyard that opened all the way up with a great breeze, the big closet that fit all our bags and clothes for our long trip, the mostly friendly staff that understood English well. The proximity to the metro stations was nice but we found Rue Magenta to be very sketchy with a lot of vagrants, loiterers and gypsy beggars. We did not have a good experience with one of the night guards, we asked him to call us a taxi but when it was taking too long to arrive and we changed our minds he got very mad and almost began yelling at us. We had a dinner reservation to make on time and would have missed it if we waited for his cab to arrive. That's not the proper way to treat a guest at your hotel. Also the "spa" was disappointing, there was no privacy and other guests were walking in and out during our reservation time, including hotel staff interrupting the water bed massage midway asking if we had made an appointment. Yes we did make an appointment, please check your books instead of interrupting! So that experience was completely ruined.
Staff was friendly, welcoming. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk as our room was not ready for check-in. We arrive to Paris earlier than the check-in time. We dropped off our luggage and went about our day. By the time we came back, it was great to know the staff brought our luggage to our room. We didn't stay in the room much. as we were out all day. I would recommend that the hotel would suggest different places to eat around the city.
Staff, room The suite was amazing, the standard room a bit small
The room was absolutely clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great but not included. Staff were nice. The "big bus" tour and train station are walking distance. It was far from all historic places that we wanted to see and go in Paris so we had to take a bus or train at day time and taxi at night since I didn't feel safe walking in that area. If you are staying for few days I suggest to get a hotel close to area you are planning to vist but if you are planing to stay for a week or more this is a good place if you don't mind paying for taxi at night!
i only like the best is the location. The Guest lift, only 1 person can stand with his 1 luggage bag.
Great location handy for public transport Lift from the dark ages and about the size of a coffin
The ubication and the kindly atention of Gilberts Tha water that cme from the room of the next floor
Size of room was excellent compared to others in other hotels which were more expensive. Very clean and nicely furnished. Reception very helpful with request for extra pillows and also incidental information about the locality. The lift is very small!
Location - next to Gare Du Nord and Metro. Staff prompt and helpful Legs on the bed would have helped! - Ours was held up by a selection of telephone directories. Room basic, barely clean, shower room had many broken tiles, poor sound proofing - could hear someone having sex at 1am...
*Clean the room *fix the sink so the water can drain *repair the curtains hanging like rags on the wall *Make sure the carpet is vacuumed *a decent breakfast instead of only croissants and jam I've never had such a dirty room and the whole hotel was hit or miss.
Excellent location, right on door step of Gare de Nord station.
Handy for walking into centre of Paris and for Gare du Nord Station. Clean and tidy with friendly staff. Plenty of brochures and free map for tourists. Room was a bit dated and needs refreshing. Lift difficult to use for 2 people with bags. (We were on sixth floor)
The staff were all very good, and the location ideal. However, the rooms themselves were very antiquated and dated. Some items did not work, and those that did, were very old looking. Lighting was poor to non existant. Needs a complete facelift. Comparable priced hotels within two block area were immeasurably better.
The staffs are nice and accomodating. Good location. the elevator is small and on the 2nd floor.
Excellent location near the train stations, metro and bus lines. Many restaurants and coffee shops around. Nice and clean bathroom.
Close to Gare du Nord; Wireless Acess Price very high to qualitity. I paid the price of an Hilton and have an Hostel.
Great location - just a walk away from the Gare Du Nord as well as the Gare Du Est. Nice, smiling people at the front desk and clean, comfy rooms ! I stayed for 2 days and on both mornings had an early start - so didn't try the breakfast...the staff at the front desk charged me Euro.20 less ! Haven't seen that happen in too many European hotels ! I would come back here for sure ! Well..obviously the toilet could be a bit more bigger...!
The room was very good. The breakfast was not at all good. There was no good bread, there was no egg items, etc.You can add some more options to the breakfast menu.
The easiness of reach The price : much too expensive for the size and facilities of the room
Convenient location very near the station
The room was very clean, bed was comfortable, location was easy to get to from the metro. Breakfast was 8 euros extra, room was rather small.
Good location of hotel. Room was nice, but very small. Room wasn't clean, dust every where and a terrible smell. Propably not used for a long time
Location - close to Gare du Nord and Paris shops When showering water goes on floor- no screen.Breakfast 8euros should include hot dish, E.G., omelette or similar. (Lorette Opera breakfast for same price is much higher standard)
location room too small
There is nothing particularly impressive about the hotel. We don't really like the neighborhood and at feel safe at night.
nothing! it was the most awful hotel where I stayed: dirty walls, small rooms, very bad bathroom with old and dirty equipment for very high price. Never recommend this hotel!!! close the hotel or totally renew it
Warm, clean room, price Constant whistle from the central heating
The staff were very helpful. Water flowing down wall from peoples shower in room above.very dusty, they obv have no vaccum.its a gd hotel for roughin it
location to train station It was old, poorly decorated, mold in the bathroom and very noisy. The neighborhood was scary.
i do't recommend any one to stay in this hotel...& its v expensive for its quality....i took the room for rate of 90 euro...but really 10 euro at max.really low quality hotel...even it was v cold outside..& they didnt operate the heating system....they said after 5 days we will start heating, bad smell for bed...all over very low quality hotel
It is close to RER, Metro other public transportation. Good point for city tour.
situation near Gare de Nord wifi is not working
Hotel staff spoke good English and were friendly. The beds are comfortable. There was a lot of street noise and noise from other hotel guests in the middle of the night. The beds had worn out blankets. They could be replaced by duvets.
At least it was clean More lie a student bedsit
Good spacious shower room Hotel undergoing refurb, but even so, corridor carpet was disgusting.
Free internet access and breakfast were provided. Within walking distance to the train station.
good servide not so good facilities carpet of the bedroom was in bad condition, but they had uprated the on suite, which was nice.
It was very close to the subway and train station which made it easy to get around.
Clean, comfortable and convenient for Gare du Nord No complaints.
Location to the Gare Du Nort Railway Station and Metro Stations. Very friendly and helpful english speaking staff Our bathroom had a slight smell to it and the shower water was very slow to run away
good location nice new bathroom suites friendly staff
It was very central. The staff could have been more welcoming. I found them rather stand-offish.
Proximity to Gare du Nord, quiet location, friendly staff, and decor. Bathroom sink and computer were broken. In the past that has never been a problem -- I am not sure what happened.
Only the bathroom Everything was bad .from the reception to the room. Service was bad, staff not friendly & not helpful especially we have 2 kids with us.NOT Value for money at all.
The room is nice and clean, breakfast very good...hotel near metro station 5 minutes by walk.Hotel staff kind and helpful.
quick availability when booking, reasonable price, necessary facilities available, secure small rooms, small elevator, no kettle in the room
location very small room and the toilet
This is a horrible hotel that is able to totally spoil your experience of the romantic city of Paris. everything is bed - rooms uncomfortable, really tiny, smelly and not soundproof. The personnel is unfriendly and rude, they may shout at you just because you took the hotel key with you and didnt leave it with them (stupid rule). They charge you upon check-in etc etc etc. The location is very poor too, don't be tempted by the small distance to Gare du Nord, - you will really be surrounded by homeless people, alchoholics and drug dealers at night. It makes mych more sense to take a taxi from the station for just 10 euro, - while for the price of the room you can find a decent hotel in the downtown.
Closeness to Gare du Nord, restaurants and local to an open top bus stop. Small rooms but adequate for our stay. There is nothing that we did not like.
the room was very clean, soundproof and the bathrom was big and clean. The hotel seams to have been recently renovated. The staf was nice, they speak english.the acess to centre of paris and cdg airport is very convinient ( gare du nord is very close)..... there was a small bailler and ingridients to make cofe and tea in your room for free the rooms are small, but its like that in most hotels in paris. in the region gare du nord there are a lot of sex shops and many immigrands that drink in the streets.... it is not good for women and families.
location, tidy and clean our room size is very small
Convenient location between the two stations
Friendly staff and comfortable room. Our room was quiet and clean. We thought the breakfast was a bit too expensive at 13 euros each.
The location was very good because it was right next to the train station and the metro as well as a bus stop. not alot of power outlets
I like the room service. At first, I didn't expect that I will get a nice room service in everyday. I cannot use the heater when I feel cold. I ask the staff but they cannot also find the way to use heater.
The staff were polite and helpful. The room was basic but good value for money for the central location.
Handy place to get a night's sleep before changing trains
Location poor noise insulation, hear what is happening in a neighboring room and the corridor, it is difficult to fall asleep ... not have Wi-Fi...
Very Good location, nice staff, well organised, easy checking and checkout The room was very smelly of humidity, no air conditioning, no vending machine in case someone needs a drink or aa sandwich late at night
Location was very nice. Wifi was weak.
Smoking room was given and the guy at the reception did not ask if i want non-smoking room. There are a lot of noises from neighbouring guests
Position (between two station) Cleanliness Comfort Breakfast
Not a luxurious hotel, but good value for money and convenient location
Clean, comfortable and close to transport connections. Good Value in an expensive city. Rooms are a little small but htis is a budget hotel
The breakfast was nice, quirky lift in the building, good location. The picture they advertised on the website was not the room we got when we arrived!! I would not have stayed at this hotel if i knew what our room was going to be like.
close to the train station and metro, very well priced, very good breakfast, again reasonably priced....overall good value.
location and comfortable stay. Tea facility was missing in the room.
Good, easy handling at reception desk Bed blanket directly dirty, very little space
Location near Gare du Nord.
The Avalon Hotel is located conveniently with a quick walk to Gare du Nord. The hotel staff was very friendly and stored our bags when when we arrived in Paris early.
Very cold. No proper duvet and no heating on the 6th floor. Shower is horrible.
breakfast was good for French standards; availability of information about Paris/maps; location next to Gare du Nord; rooms were clean; possibility to pay by debit card (Maestro); quite noisy if you open the window (looking out on Boulevard Magenta); a sort of air freshener was used which was quite annoying;
The hotel was awful, the lacking basic facilities such as light and the electricity was cut off twice. THe staff were unhelpful during the 2 power cuts I disliked the whole experience
Nice breakfast, basic but good, good location. This is the second time that I chose to stay at this hotel for these two reasons. Wi-Fi did not work in the room. Floor and wall was quite thin, could hear people moving around in the corridor and staircase. Sometimes the TV did not have a connection. Depending on the time of the day, the shower was not hot enough for winter. Room was dimly lit.
Nothing about this hotel was good. In particular some of the staff wer totally unfriendly. Nothing about this hotel was good. I would not recommend it to anyone I know.
Proximity to Gare du Nord
Decent but very small room. Nice and clean. Helpful staff. Close to Gare du Nord. Overpriced for the class of hotel and size of room.
Location Noise, clearness
Clean modern bathroom. Clean bedding. Very noisy all night. Very cold during the night. Carpet dirty. No tea/coffee making facilities in room.
The location of the hotel was excellent. The room was in a shabby state. Bathroom on the other hand was clean and nice. The hotel lacked facilities. Overall it was not worth the money. I would not recommend this hotel to families or couples.
Near to Gare de Nord station, good transport links very easy to get to centre of town, even on foot.. Helpful staff, value for money, In general rooms in Parisian hotels can be on the small side, and this hotel was no exception.
The bathtub and the tv in the room, I only stayed one night. The breakfast was too expensive.
nice staff,good location,
The staff was very helpful Unfortunately on the first two nights I was bitten by bedbug. I inform the staff about the bedbug and was provided with a different room which was not infected.
Hotel staff is very helpful. Room is a little bit old.
I perceived the service that I expected. Excellent! The breakfast could be better if more items to choose.
Location They sold us wifi access for the room but the signal strength was almost non-existent. The only place we could get a workable connection was in reception.
staff were all very helpful and obliging. the breakfast was excellent , and plentiful. though not in central Paris, we found getting into and around the city very easy. we had the bus, metro, taxi all across the road (about forty paces from the hotel), outside the Gare du Nord. we asked for a quiet room away from the traffic noise. the management did facilitate us as best they could, they gave us a room at the side of the hotel. Unfortunately, the trains passed close to, if not under the hotel, and there was a slight loss of sleep. a very minor irritant indeed.
The spacious shower !!! Very comfortable indeed. One rarely finds showers in French hotels that measure more than 70x70. Clean room In a busy quarter (noise, neon lights...) of the city, some attention to darkening curtains is due. In the countryside, it is romantic to wake up at 5am in the summer with the sunrise, but in the city, a room should have dark curtains enabling people to sleep.
I am very satisfeid with the staff, ( mid aged man ) when I checked in at 18/11/2010, he provided valued information to us and his service attitude is excellent, (the time ia around 10:pm), when I came from cdg Airport. Overall, their service attitude is moderate. But, part of the staff, they would be bearing some bias on Asian people, they showed cool response. But, if I visit next time, I would choose this hotel for their fair price and location. It is easy for a tourist to travel by Metro from here.
The location is about 100m away from Gare du Nord station which is very convenient for transportation. The room was ready for me to check in although I arrived as early as about 10am, but you need to inform them at earlier time. I'm satisfied for the money I pay, but I will be more happy if can have free internet access, that will be definitely more value added.
Poor quality of breakfast for the price. 19 chf for really nothing.
Very near to Gare Du Nord Station No restaurant.
Excellent location close to train station serving ICEs from Germany. Multiple metro lines available. Lots of choice in restaurants in walking distance. Room was a bit small and a bit noisy.
clean room/toilet and bath, complimentary coffee/tea/toiletries The non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke! I was there when the weather hit 27 degrees centigrade and the air condition could not be turned on yet!
Location Tiny rooms, corridors dangerously congested with laundry and cleaning equipment, crowded breakfast room, tiny elevator, musty smell in the bathroom
Rooms were v clean & decent size Staff were lovely, very helpful & very informative None
The best was the location Room unbelievably small! The lift produced so much noise that I had to change the room in order to be able to sleep. In general, no value for money.
One of the staff members was helpfull - yet others were not. They were loud and noisy and kept me/us waiting while talking with eachother. Low repect for privacy of cleaning staff too Worst was that making reservations a bath was promised to many or all double rooms - yet they only had two baths in the whole hotel. Moreover: terrible work on the elevator for two days, with lots of noise and mudd and sand and dirt. Very small hotel space, no lounge. Over priced in every way. Not to be ever recommended. Only one of the desk staff members was helpfull - yet others were not. They were loud and noisy and kept me/us waiting while talking with eachother. Low repect for privacy of cleaning staff too.
proximity to sites and gare du nord. clean, lareg rooms, new design.
location poor value for money. Outrageous internet access charges. However excellent location
Coming out og GDN it was right opposite so convienient to GDEST very suitable for overnight or weekend stays a little cramped for longer stays.
Very handy to the train station. Staff very helpful
Perfect for "Gare de Nord". Just a minutes walk. Dingy poor room. No Parking at all. In fact access to the road by the hotel is for vans/taxis and buses. So a bit of illegal driving has to take place to drop your cases off.
Very conveniently located near to Gare du Nord, and the Metro system. The reception staff (especially the female) were extremely pleasant and helpful. Very small TV in bedroom, and we would have liked to have at least one TV chanel in English. There was no shower curtain. There was a tremendous amount of traffic noise - Air conditioning would have been much appreciated, so we could then have kept the windows shut.
Cleaniness of the room, nice staff. Good location. no cold water in washer in suit, not repaired during out stay ( 4 nights).
Nice staff. They did not hesitate to give me a double room the first night because there was something wrong in mine. Helpful, understanding and nice staff. Clean and comfortable room. Non.
The staff is friendly. The cleanliness is not good in the bathroom. There are hair in the walls (not mine) and the sit cover of sanitary vase was dirty.
Stuff was ok, bed was comfortable, shower was working properly, hot water all the time, well positioned very near gare du nord and that made easy coming from charles de gaulle airport because i did not need to go into metro with suitcasses. poissoniere metro station a few steps away will take you diretctly to louvre and centre. room in the basement with no daylight at all, so next time i will ask for the room in the floor. recommend for budget travelers with no luxury needs.
really friendly staff, good location
The location was great, there was a lot of restaurants around. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. They even have a lift.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very good breakfast (for Parisian standards). The room was very clean. Nice neighborhood, lot's of restaurants nearby. Good value for your money. The room was a bit small. The bathroom was small, and not practical (loose shower head and wobbly shower screen).
A bit dark inside of the room, and the bathroom's airconditioner didn't properly work
No Comment Not my Kind of Hotel and false advertising on the internet/
Newly fitted bedroom is nice. Flat screen and the rest. I asked for a quiet bedroom I was accomodated and I was very glad because I have had a nice night sleep. I did not really like the state of the room 202 (bagages). Where it seems like some people have had showers and the rest but the room not clean nor looked after. I did not like the fact that I could not log on the internet wifi network.
close to metro station la chapelle and gard de nord. it can be more cheap. the street is full of colors people, it is kind of scary for women and children. don`t seem safe. lift is very small. The rooms were not as nice as they seemed in the photos. when we left our suitcase on the day we left, they just gave us the key and told us to put it in the luggage room. Moreover, when we came to collect it, it was a different receptionist that we hadn't seen before and he just gave us the keys again to go to collect the bag - we could have been anyone!
Hotel was clean. WIFI was in and out.
Shower water pressure was good and one staff member at the front desk did her best to be helpful. -There is scaffolding outside the building and the men working were out yelling to each other most of the day and smoking (so the smell came right in my room). -No deadbolts on the door, and the first room they put me in, one of the construction workers walked right in on me. -Breakfast was a big disappointment, many things were out, despite it being an hour before they stopped serving. -The floors in my room were dirty, my black socks were disgusting after walking around just a little. -The Wifi was frustrating, it logged you out nearly anytime you weren't using it and was a pain to get back on. -I could go on and on really. I'm not sure how this place is a 3 star establishment.
location, price smell in rooms, breakfast was poor and hotel is old and not looking good
Traditional design of the hotel, Cleanliness and comfort of the room, The room was adequate for a family of 4, hospitality of the staff, good position near the the metro station La Chapele and La Gare du Nord The lift is too small, but I know is nothing to do about it.
Hotel reception was helpful. Though pictures shown on website made it looked stylish, actually the real lobby looked pretty disused. The Euro 10 for breakfast was hugely overpriced.
The room was newly and nice renovated. Staff was O.K. and friendly! Stairway was dull, dark and unfresh. The hotel is located in a less nice area, but O.K. for one night. Message: Stay insíde the hotel after darkness!
We did not like the area although the hotel itself was good
Central for both Gare du Est and Nor. Very comfortable room. Large TV Size of lift. Can only take two people with one case each.
room was recently renovated; staff very friendly and helpful; quiet room 1) the building is currently being renovated, which at first glance makes the hotel seem a bit dodgy, but it's not! 2) the doors are very thin
Near Gare du Nord station Tiny room. Breakfast 10 Euro's for a piece of ham and cheese. Far too expensive
