the best part of the hotel is the location and its good breakfast When i arrived at night on a prepaid reservation the reception staff tried to send me to another hotel nearby claiming the room had suffered damage and was unavailable. After a full day of travelling and not having received an advance notice of the "event" I suspected this was a trick used by an overçbooked hotel. I demanded to see the damages and this the supposed manager was unable to show me, so after a little voice raisingf on my part all of the sudden the room became available. I left that the hotel reception made to lie to me their paying customer . Two more managers emerged and during my short saty the hotel personel made me feel as if they had made me and my wife a favor by letting us stay in the hotel for which I had PREPAID my stay. I can only imagine if my reservation was not prepaid I would have been in the street looking for a hotel room
romantic room was very small for the amount paid.
excellent location, good room
Sympathetic environment. Very good location Too expensive for what it is. There was no hot water in our room (room 406) and the concierge did nothing about it. We had to leave the next morning. Not a good experience. The room was very small and the price was huge. 570 euros, plus breakfast 50 euros for two......May I ask why?
My wife and I were impressed with the hotel from the minute we walked into the lobby. The receptionist and bell hop could not have been more hospitable. The decor was elegant, and the spa and work out facilities were state of the art. In addition to this, the nearness to the Boulevard St. Germaine de Pres, boutiques, and cafes was excellent.
The location is ideal for a trip to Paris. Plenty of restaurants, cafes. public transportation. The bed was very comfortable. Like most hotels in France (and Europe) this so-called "Superior" room was tiny.
Location, staff and cleanliness No
I had serious problems in the hotel with payment by credit cards. For sure tecnical devices on the reception must to be checked. It was really very unpleased to be learned that you can't pay by your credit card then you know that there are enough money on this card...
Location, Location, Location!!! Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a fabulous area and you can walk to many interesting sites and shops. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe and welcome at the hotel and in the area. The room I was assigned had a view of a generator that was a bit noisy in the early morning hours. Beware of Room 106 travelers!! Other than that everything was great!!
Staff, decor, location size of bathroom - very small
Location is very good
extremely friendly staff - small, but cosy room - nice and tasteful furniture private pool in the cellar was a bit strange (resembling a dungeon) but in some way also funny and romantic
Quirky idiosyncatic place with character. Excellent location. We loved it.
The restaurant is fantastic, and overall the hotel ambience was good. Location good too. No shower! not even a clip to hang the shower attachment on! Small bath. No mini bar. Not enough room to swing a cat in. 'Shabby chic' definitely the correct description as rooms very tired decor wise - handle even dropped off the wardrobe door. Ridiculously, outrageously overpriced!!!!!
Critically understaffed probably due to so many French employees taking summer holidays. Found broken glasses left unattended around the poolside. No running hot water during my stay, but given discounted rate and very commited staff (although few in numbers) and the manager, after all satisfactory. Yet I doubt if I want to come back on special occasions and never on summer holiday season.
i liked a lot the people working there , very nice and friendly some of the rooms were not well lit , hence it was uncomfortable for packing and reading also the safe gave me a lot of trouble it wasnt working properly lift too small and not enough for staff and guests
Unusual hotel - funky decor Swimming pool is tiny. First day and a half no hot water. Restaurant was closed
The facility exceeded expectations as well as the staff and the room. I was fortunately upgraded, possibly because the restaurant was closed for a day due to a Fashion shoot in the hotel. I couldn't have been more pleased with everything.
The special atmosfear of the hotel
Location is perfectly central - 100meters from the Seine opposite the Louvre. Hotel is compact and upstairs corridors only fit one person at a time but is the most unique, quirky and original design I have ever seen (You must see to believe!). The room was small but amazing and I believe every room is decorated differently. I would recommend anyone to stay here and when they do - book the private plunge pool and steam room for yourself for an hour in the morning. Take time to sit in the bar drawing room to sip a drink 100 years back in time. Staff were very friendly and practically ran my life for 2 days with all the questions they answered for me!
I liked the location and the beautiful fireplace in the lounge. We enjoyed the quietness in the bedroom. We thought the room was too small.
Although the room was smallish (perhaps not by Parisian standards), it was immaculate and beautifully maintained. The staff were unfailingly helpful and polite. The public areas on the ground floor were accessible and tastefully decorated and provided the full range of services one might want. And the location--I know the inner city pretty well, and better is very hard to imagine. Room service for breakfast was a little uneven; two of three mornings an item was missing from a relatively short, simple order. That said, the coffee and juice were superb.
Fantastic friendly staff and fantastic position
Excellent hotel at a charming place. Although in the Latin Quarter, still in a peaceful street. Walking distance to many places. Very nice decoration, very helpful staff. Our room was spacious given Paris standards. Definitely would stay again. The bed was soft and noisy.
Superb location and wonderful experienced staff who know how to look after their customers well. A fantastic experience and well worth the cost!!
The hotel was clean, well located in a very attractive area of Paris, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. No
Excellent location, very clean, friendly and helpful staff
The room is a little bit small for a suite.
I like the location and the lobby lounge atmosphere I think the rate for my standard doublr room is a bit high and particularly the room decor is so out dated.
great location, very nice clean comfortable rooms, free wifi, nice breakfast. no complains
Very good location, in a good part of the city. Good, affordable restaurants nearby. Easy access to sights. Hotel was chic and cosy, clean and pleasant. Staff was so-so, although did act on complaints immediately. Rooms were small but livable.l
No porters in the hotel. No change for cash.
The staff was very friendly, excellant location, very clean and excellant breakfast.........
We loved the location. We loved the view of Blvd. St. Germain. We loved that our room was quiet once we shut the windows. We loved the bed and the decor of the room. We loved the free breakfast and ice machine. We loved Aziz, who booked us two great restaurants with the best tables in the place reserved for us along with him arranging for us to received free anniversary desserts. Some staff members (not Aziz but others) were not as friendly as we'd have expected. We also witnessed a hotel manager berating a breakfast worker loudly in front of all the guests. We were told they had power transformers that we could borrow from them, but the one we got did not work and that's the only one they had available. The towels were thin and cheap.
Very confortable and very good location Terrible breakfast, very poor variety and they don't replace the food when it ends. for more than 3 days they run out of Orange juice more than 1 hour before the breakfast closes and they didnt put more. If we wanted eggs, omelete, expresso and etc, we would have to pay separately.
The hotel is not only located in Saint Germain but also very close from subway station. It is easy to find the hotel when we arrive and very convenient to walk around. Bedside table was bit sticky but other than that nothing remarkable.
Location, breakfast and staff. Size of room
convenient location, confortable beds beautiful setting. rooms are a little small, but other wise confortable.
Decor was interesting Most of the staff were very good - others a bit off hand The breakfast did not vary
that i could leave no ventilation during the winter months "we turn it off"
Louis II is a perfect blend of hospitality and comfort. Every detail, from helping me set up wifi to recommending local events was given with every attention and care. I cannot compliment the staff enough who greeted me every morning by name. I breakfasted twice, a buffet set with delicious and filling food. Boiled eggs, yoghurt, cereal, toast, croissants, jams, juice and a large pot of coffee will set you up for any day in Paris. My room and indeed the hotel was spotless, comfortable and wonderfully charming and I enjoyed sleeping with the window ajar hearing the sounds of the city going to sleep and waking. Location is ideal with easy walking to the sites of Paris and the RER/Metro. Will certainly return.
Centra nice rooms
Staff, location, decoration, ambiance It was overpriced when I compared to similar hotels around when I took a walk
Location and atmosphere
Location, location, location :) The bed is quite soft
it's a nice place yo spend several nights. wonderful friendly staff doing their best to make your visit as comfortable as possible i had an allergy on a soap with what they clean sheets
Location was excellent. Very friendly staff room was small. Room telephone system old analogue type making joint business conference calls via bridge challenging
Location Low bed
location smaaaaall room
nice breakfast deliveed to the room at no extra charge
courtesy of the staff
location, location, location
Due to the Euro and GBP being one for one, the hotel worked out a little expensive, but they upgraded us foc to a bigger room due to renovations being carried out, lovely hotel would stay again.
Free wireless internet and friendly English speaking staff Nothing
great location, comfortable hotel
comfortable good position
Excelent location. Good hotel staff. Very comfortable. High hotel rates. Unnecessary (ex. minibar).
I like the Madison but I thought their staff was indifferent, only a couple of the front staff was nice the rest was just ...well indifferent. I hate to mentioned this but one had a really bad body odor. Common how can they allowed that, he works in the front! end of rant. The hotel was recently renovated and they did a beautiful job with the decoration. However, if it was up to me I would remove the the black chair on the corner. We couldn't sit on it because the nightstand and the desk blocked access to it. The faucet in the bathroom was annoying to use because you can only get hot water if you turn the knob on high?!?!? Sorry for being negative but I think it need to be said. I would recommend this hotel and will probably go back because I like the 6th arrondisement.
great location, comfortable room
The hotel was well located for my needs and the staff, in particular, one gentleman, was excellent and helpful. Not really
The decor was lovely and the atmosphere very relaxed and quiet even though it is situated in the middle of Saint Germain with brilliant cafes, bars and shops all at your doorstep.
This is a very nice small hotel located in an excellent location in Paris with all services close by. The personnel is excellent meaning friendly and always ready to assist you. The only thing not so satisfying is the size of the room. Although I booked a deluxe room, it was rather small in size.
Until last day morning yes but last days I decide next time I will not stay there. Because of one stuff.
The location, ideal for shopping and restaurants. Steep stair to first floor, then very cramped lift to higher floors
Very good shower spray head in bathroom shower.
Very friendly staff. Great atmosphere .
Superb location, and beautiful, opulent decor. I mentioned that it was a special occasion and they upgraded our room, we were over the moon!
This is a place of high style and design, well-located and a high level of customer service and reception. Jean Yves at reception went the extra mile to reserve and change dinner reservations for us and even help with bus routes. Shower/baths are great, but can difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Standard rooms at the back are quite small and accessible only by stairs from ground level to first floor. There is a small lift beyond that for back rooms on the second and third floors. There are two nice rooms on the ground floor just off the breakfast room. Beware if you have mobility/flexibility issues, as the opening to the bath/shower can be quite small
Very good location, cosy atmosphere Reception staff was quite arrogant and not very helpful
The stay at this hotel was a very nice experience! The personnel is professional and very service-minded. The location of the hotel is excellent. Will definitely check their availability when visiting Paris again!
The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The location is ideal since it is at a walking distance from most of the important museums and is in a very lively area where there are many shops and restaurants. The room was overheated which meant that the window needed to be kept open all night. This was due, according to the hotel staff, to the fact that that particular room had all of the heating pipes of the hotel go via that room. The breakfast is a little expensive and is not really special.
Excellent ambience and atmosphere Bed comfort was an issue
Very good location, close to Boul StG. Air conditioning was nice, but very little cooling.
great location, staff very helpful, good breakfast room needed renovating
very friendly and helpful staff
Friendly reception when we came late in the evening. Simple but, tasty breakfast The hotel were partly under restore/construction. 2 of the days it was not possible to use the staircase to our room. The lift was so little that my wife got claustrofobia. We told about the problems to the housekeeper, and we were offered a new room. She was very solution- oriented. We travel quite a lot, and in our opinion, the beds could be a bit softer - that would be perfect.
The location of the hotel is very central and quiet, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Although the accomodations are older (and rooms not fancy), the hotel was clean, well cared for, and comfortable. Very good value overall. The shower had no curtain or door and could have been in better repair, but overall was clean. The bed looks a bit worn (sinks down in the middle) but ended up being comfortable. Both mattresses should have had full covers on them.
Great location.Clean and quiet.
Great location Small room with old, out of date furnishings. Low ceilings - could not stand up completely in the "shower"
Staff is very friendly. Balcony, large soaking tub, small refrigerator in room. Clean, updated rooms. Spa, room service, massage offered- spa can be reserved free of charge. Convenient cafe off of lobby that offers an inexpensive, simple breakfast and drinks. Room smelled like smoke even though the hotel is non-smoking. Although the spa looks beautiful, it was heavily chlorinated and burned both of our eyes really badly- we couldn't even stay in the entire hour and didn't reserve another evening like we had planned.
Excellent location, exceptionally friendly staff, good sized rooms for a Parisian hotel. The hotel appears to fairly new and modern and importantly, clean. Nothing at all.
Hotel staff were very kind and supportive.
excellent staff... very friendly + helpful. great location on left bank. clean, modern decor. nice lobby with bar for meeting clients, friends etc. free internet and convenient reading lamps above bed. rooms small.
concierge Kristoff is great
Love the location. Hotel and facilities great. Staff very friendly.Have stayed in a number of hotels around the St Germain area over the years, and the first time at this particular hotel. We weren't disappointed at all. Definately would recommend.
Sanjay was an exceptional manager/ concierge! The location was superb. The size of room was small, but Paris is renowned for this.
This is a very nice little hotel in the St. Germaine area. The location is excellent, very close to the St. Germanine metro station and surrounded by very quaint restaurants and shops. The room was comfortable when compared to other spaces I have stayed in Paris and the staff, especially Sanjay, was very helpful. I would stay here again, definitely. N/A
The hotel location is good right in the hearth of St Germain .Shops, restaurants and bars aplenty nearby.Very buzzy and lively area. The hotel lobby is smart and tidy but the rooms are small and cleanliness is substandard.Tired furniture and dirty walls . Broken fixtures and plenty of dust in places.
Location Old carpet in the room. Size of room.
Lovely room. Excellent location. Concierge was extremely helpful in booking restaurants etc. Staff also very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a great location with lots of nearby restaurants and shops, and within walking distance to many places of interest. Even though it's in a lively area, the closeable shutters on the windows keep the room quiet. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The room was not largel, but the space was used very efficientlyand very nicely furnished, We really wanted a king size bed, but they only offered queen sized or double twin beds, which were better than a queen, but tended to separate with use. The price was kind of high.
The unobtrusive but very professional service. The attention to quality everywhere, and the all-round high standard of comfort in public areas. Staff were extremely helpful and did everything possible to make our stay agreable. Only we found the room somewhat cramped and the lack of a shower door but that was probably because we had one of the smallest rooms.
location, friendliness of staff
The location was perfect for sightseeing/shopping/dining.
Staff pleasant and helpful. Excellent location in Saint Germain with wonderful food shops and Sunday market. The room was tiny although I booked a double room for only one person. If my wife had been with me there would not have been room to pass each other. The internet didn't work one of the days which caused tremendous problems as I was on a business trip.
Location is wonderful and the staff are so helpful and professional. I recommend this hotel! Room a little small, but it was the least expensive in the hotel. The suites look fabulous!
This is a very pleasant hotel. My room, although small, was very comfortable and very nicely furnished. The hotel staff were lovely people and I especially liked the fact that there was a chamber maid who came in the afternoons to turn down my bed.. There was one serious problem. There was no anti-slip material in the bath and no grab rails. This is a serious oversight. There should be grab rails at shoulder hieght and at knee height.
Nice room, good selection of TV channels, friendly staff, brilliant position No kettle in the room.
The location of this hotel is nice. It's easy to walk to all of the main sightseeing spots. My room was quite small, even by European standards, and the room decoration was quite garish. The bed was comfortable and there were blackout blinds. My issue with the hotel, which ruined my entire experience there, was when I asked for assistance in getting to the airport for my return flight. I asked if they could help me book a shuttle service. I was told no. They were only willing to book a private car for 60€. I was told that wss the only option they offered. The gentleman working the front desk finally called a manger to ask if he could help me and the manager must have also said no. Seriously? He couldn't make a phone call for me?!?! I did the research and booked it myself. I've had hotels in Paris assist with this before so I was shocked he told me no. The reason I stay at a hotel vs an Air B&B property is specifically for this type of assistance. I wouldn't stay here again.
very pleasant...my room a bit on the small side - bathroom very nice and a very good size price a bit high - should include breakfast in the rate
Excellent location and service
the location was the best. I would only stay in this area when traveling to Paris. I rooms are small but clean. their breakfast was not worth the money. there are a lot of great restaurants surrounding the hotel
This was a weekend break for a wedding anniversary. A perfect location for walking to the river, Notre Dame, Le Louvre and the nearby streets of art galleries, boutiques and ubiquitous Parisienne cafes. Particularly vibrant were Rue de Buci & Rue St Andre des Arts. Although bustling and lively, it did not feel 'touristy' and we enjoyed mingling with local people who in this particular area seemed very elegant and fashionable! We chose the 'superior' room, which was fine for the two of us- compact, but not cramped, with clean, modern furnishings & a stylish en suite bathroom with no plumbing issues! We were on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet at night.Staff were v friendly, helpful & happy to speak english if required! Highly recommended!
Location was excellent - room was clean and staff were friendly Price of Hotel was expensive for 2 nights
Great location, at the heart of Saint Germain!! The room is too small, we can't fit 1 small size and 1 mid size luggages in the room. :-(
Asked for non smoking room, but had to spend first night in smoky room before being able to move
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and reasonably spacious (for Paris) room, excellent location. No
The location was very convenient - both for shopping and dining. Many good shops and restaurants nearby. I did not think the room quality warranted the rate they charged. I was expecting more quality for the type of rate they were charging.
I loved the quiet elegance of the hotel that was an escape from the hustle and bustle of Paris. There were so many unexpected ammenities that added to the luxury. The hotel staff was incredible - they were attentive as well as discrete. I loved it.
superb location. will recommend to friendss
The location. I thought the room was a bit basic considering how much it cost.
location the breakfast was too expensive for what they offered. Not worth the money.
The hotel is charming and the hotel staff are very friendly, The rooms are smaller that we are used to but delightful never the less.
Great location. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. The fact you have to be back in hotel at before 2 a.m. or after 6 a.m. because reception does not operate between these hours so you will not get in after night escapade. We have chosen a hotel and not some youth hostel to allow us flexibility which this hotel apperently does not.
The staff was friendly and helpful
Hotel Reception service, design of the hotel...all create a excellent part of experience of Paris.
Interior design, proximity to all that is wonderful in Paris, afternoon tea, the friendly helpful efficient staff. Nothing
Friendly staff who always make us feel welcome and light refreshment was very useful to help us quickly relax and look forward to a romantic evening in Paris. No comment
We would highly recommend Hotel Recamier . Staff were charming ,warm and efficient. we stayed in club room beautiful decor well appointed. Sensational location and property .We arrived earlier than advised and staff accommodated us immediately . no ... just fabulous
Location, friendly staff, quiet. For the price, 125 euros/day, it had few amenities. No television, internet, shower curtain. If they are going to charge 21st century prices they should provide a room that has modern amenities and is efficient. Tiniest elevator I've ever seen. Love the location, but we were looking for a different hotel from the moment we checked in.
location needs decorating
convienent, very helpful staff, very comfortable
lovely atmosphere and helpful staff rooms are very small and the hotel does feel slightly worn but it is charming
Room was reasonable size for Paris and had individual charm with wooden ceiling beams and luxurious fabrics/bedding. Well stocked mini bar and good choice of snacks at a supplement. Bathroom small but had everything we needed and nice to have bathrobes. We used hotel's transport from Paris Nord station but would not recommend, as we realised on return journey it was double price of a normal taxi! Hotel recommended a restaurant - was ok but served very dull traditional French food. Did not get to meet Joseph the actual concierge so don't know if he is as helpful as other guests say.
Good location. rooms small like many Paris hotels. Staff helpful no complaints.
Staff, location, and charm....the hotel was lovely, beds were clean and comfortable, rooms were small, but fine. Everyone was so helpful and kind. It was so nice to have free computer access. Didn't like having children staying there as it made it very noisy above our heads. Loved open windows, yet feel the warm weather would be uncomfortable without air conditioning.
Superb service. Characterful/authentic/French. Great area of Paris. Quiet. Excellent breakfast. No
Small, intimate hotel in an excellent location. The building is old and full of quirks and character. The rooms are very updated and comfortable. The staff was excellent. Regardless of who you spoke with, they were all friendly, helpful and informative.
convenient location; pleasant, attentive staff also with making booking and in breakfast room; pick up and delivery service to airport/trainstation; english papers and ambience of lobby/sitting room. breakfast is good value for money, while the hotel is a bit expensive for what you get the rooms are very small and not able to handle space for 2 suitcases, but we knew that from 4 years ago and we still came back for 3 nights. don't know if we could stay for a week, too cramped. room 103 was better than the room we had 4 years ago
ATmostpheric, very romantic and on a quiet street in the heart of the St Germaine de Pres. I will return....
Excellant Location for Paris sightseeing, walk to most sites easily, very safe. Staff makes you feel pampered and the night staff is very helpful with local spots to dine, hear music, etc. Rooms are charming and very clean. Great especially for women traveling alone as they look out for you with special care and advice. Breakfast is pricey and I had been told was included. When I arrived, they said no, it is not. I asked if they would charge for breakfast if I just had coffee, I was told no, go ahead and have coffee. They then charged 4 Euros for each coffee, which adds up. This should have been clearly stated upfront when charges apply. Some may find rooms too small.
