Contras: "We didn't fly to Zurich. Instead, we flew from Berlin to Frankfurt to San Francisco to San Diego. Although the alternate airlines did a fine job and we had nice flights thanks to them, we only found out about the change when we arrived at the airport and it caused us multiple inconveniences throughout the day. Our flight from Berlin to Zurich was scheduled to board at 9am, so we left our accommodations at 6:30am so we could arrive at the airport around 7am. It was a rushed, hectic morning and we stayed up late preparing for it the best we could. When we arrived and found out our flight was canceled, we learned our new flight wouldn't board until 11am. So we rushed for no reason and had to spend a considerable amount of extra time at the airport that we could have spent enjoying coffee one last time at a local cafe or something. We planned to fly straight from Zurich to San Diego so we could participate in an interview for our Global entry application (which you can only do when arriving in the US from an international flight). Because we had a brief layover in San Francisco instead, we had no time for this and were unable to do the interview when we arrived in San Diego because it was a domestic flight. The change also caused issues with our luggage. We're not used to checking bags when we fly OR flying internationally with layovers in the US, so we asked the agent at the Swiss desk in Berlin how it would would with both of those aspects in our travel with the itinerary changes. The agent told us our luggage would follow us all the way to San Diego and we didn't have to worry about it. However, we learned once we got to San Diego that our bags were left in San Francisco because apparently we were supposed to pick them up and recheck them, but we had no idea. It was a huge bummer and we wish we would have had more control over our itinerary that day. People book certain flights for certain reasons and need to have a say when their flights need to change."

Also, during the flight, the crew kept coming through with more water, which was VERY NICE! Plus, the moist towels prior to landing. It makes a big difference in comfort levels for such a long flight."
Contras: "The on-board entertainment system was old and very clumsy to handle (with the embedded control in the arm rest). Also, it crashed on me two times and had to be re-booted, which was frustrating and took a long time every time it happened."

It also does not help when the attendants would not want to disturb a sleeping but have no problem allowing us to eat off a tray with our forehead touching the back of the seat in front. This happened to me on the entire journey on Swiss from Miami to Zurich to Cape Town. It is almost a health hazard not being able to move and forget about trying to even use a laptop because when the person in front recline her seat, you have no room to even type (and my laptop was only a 13 inch Mac.) I am a million miler on United and this is one of the most miserable flights that I have taken. I also don't like the fact that we cannot get seat assignments until 23 hours before departure- not even for preferred travelers."

Prós: "Walking past the Turkish Airlines desk in Dulles and knowing I would NEVER have to interact with these monsters again."
Contras: "I am an experienced traveler. I've been to 17 countries and have flown over a million miles in both business and coach. My wife encountered a problem in Istanbul that involved an airport transit visa through Canada. I am certain that any other airline we’ve ever flown would’ve assisted us, since it was easily resolved. To Turkish Airlines, this is simply a part of their business model and a chance to make more money. It took about 8 hours of our time at 5 different airport locations to eventually buy new tickets to get back the next day. Our original tickets say: “REISSUE With 200.00 USD penalty. What I didn’t see was the fine print at the bottom: “Turkish Airlines reserves the right to change rules regarding ticket changes and refunds.”. They mean it. As bad as our personal experience was, the real reason we are so appalled is that we were there long enough to see this is the norm for them. In our single day there, we saw at least 100 other travelers going through similar things. The ONLY solution ever offered is to purchase another ticket. We witnessed several people weeping. Many losing control and shouting. Their own personnel were screaming at customers (in a separate office area though, it was all yucks and laughing). These were people of all nationalities. Africans, Asians, Europeans. We were lucky because we had the means to purchase new tickets. Others clearly didn’t. I really don’t know what happened to some of them. One moment was very symbolic of the entire experience. Another vanquished traveler was paying $843 for a new ticket with cash. He handed her $845 but she, of course, had no change. Instead of the $5, he gave her two $1 bills. I had one in my pocket so gave it to her as well. She held my $1 bill up and pointed to the corner which had a very small piece torn off…no ink was missing…and sneered “I can’t accept this. She did this simply because she could. We were powerless. She knew it and reveled in it."

Contras: "I had to take flight from San Juan to JFK on Jet Blue seperate ticket that supposed to leave san juan 5:26 am and get to JFK at 9:18 am , Jet Blue got delayed 5 houres due to the weather , when i got to JFK i went to the counter of Turkish Airlines to re book on another flight , i was attended by Indian look manager , he was very very very nasty with me and he told that the Turkish Airlines had cancelled my ticket and his comment to me ( you boughtyour ticket socheap there fore you need to pay $1650 dollar for new ticket and there is not gurranted i will be takig the next scheduled flight and i have to waite for thenextday ) he was very nastuy, so i went to Emirates Airlines and i bought a new tickets for $1475 dollar and ileft JFKwithen twohours , now when i want to retune from Lebnon i caled Turkish Airkines and they had informed that they cancelled my return ticktes as well , when the plane was delayed in san juan Puerto Rico Jet Blue manager in San Juan call Turkish Airlines to exolaine the situatuion and the agent had confirmed that i will be rebbok on another flight. I lst my ticket with Turkish and i will never recommend this Airline to no one from now on. I,m asking if i can use the monry that i had paid if i can rebook future flight , please do something i lost my tickets with Turkish and i had to pay $1475 dollar on Emirates , NO one seems to care .I have all the proof thatJet Blue gave me the boarding pass on Turkish after the station manager in San Juan called Turkish and they authorized him to print my boarding pass ( i have it all) unfortunatly Turkish refused to helo. Contras: "Customer service was very poor while we were struggling to get back to the US while the hurricane was coming to FL. We tried twice to fly home earlier because we knew the flights were going to get cancelled but the airlines wanted to charge us $1500 for that. So when the time came and the flights got cancelled they were trying to adjust the flights and we got stranded away from our kids. Overall it was not a great experience as far as their customer service and we were not happy with how they chose to handle things."

Prós: "While in Barcelona, Spain I needed to change my departure time, there was the usual long lines ahead of me when a THY Associate questioned me about my travel plans. I explained to her that I needed to change my departure time and she took me out of line and escorted me to the correct window. Standing now at the correct window I was able to quickly make the desired changes. I was so happy I was able to avoid the long lines. THY is a Class A operation indeed. Thank you, Rudy"

Contras: "The flight was cramped with no room to get comfortable. The crew was concerened with it being an overnight flight and rushed through service so that the lights could be turned off on the cabin. They ran out of a food option and forced a selection on everyone in the back of the plane. The person sitting next to me even had a dietary restriction and her meal had been given to another passenger. The boarding process was a mess without clear directions from the staff, it was a giant mob trying to force its way onto a plane."

Prós: "I flew Turkish Airlines this year - 2 domestic flights and 3 international - and every flight was great. The long-distance flight (Japan-Istanbul) especially. My seat was more comfortable than with USA companies I've used, I was fed on short-lap flights and provided a pillow (no extra charges), I had real milk to put in my coffee (not chemical creamer) and I didn't pay extra for baggage. Flights were on time, crews were friendly. I'll be using Turkish Airlines more in the future, for certain."
"Document check to verify our negative covid test was efficient. The supervisor at the Frankfurt gate to depart to SFO was not helpful when I asked with group I was boarding with. Dismissive and said it was on my pass. If it was on my pass I wouldn’t have needed to ask. Everything else about the flight was good- on time departure and good crew given circumstances with covid, masking etc."

Lufthansa provided vouchers to hotel and shuttle to the hotel (holiday inn express) and back to the airport. We stood out in the cold for 45 mins but the shuttle did not show up. Ended up taking Uber to the hotel only to find out their shuttle service does not start in the morning before 5:30 am. They booked me on a 6 am flight with 5:45 boarding time. The hotel scheduled a taxi to pick me up at 3:30 am to make back to the airport on time. I ended up spending $70 and I’m totally exhausted. I wished I just stayed at the airport. Not to mention the quality of the hotel accommodations is less than average. Very disappointed with how this whole situation was managed."

When I asked to help us get seats together flight attendants told us that I should ask passengers if they could switch seats. Apparently Lufthansa staff doesn’t ask passengers to do it."

I waited through the boarding line only to be told to first verify my ticket. My bags were lost on the Madrid to frankfurt flight, the first part. Unacceptable, if the airline can not schedule flights at their own hub that guarantee swift transfer it us pathetic."

Contras: "The seats are way too close together for such a long flight. I fought off a panic attack for much of the trip. It was suffocating. I should not be able to give the person in front of me a head massage. The personal space humans should have was horribly invaded. I'm a 62 year old woman who's in good shape but even for me it was an act of gymnastics to get in and out of my seat. On my flight to Europe on the 13th with your airline our section of the plane did not have working monitors so it was like watching paint dry for 11 hours. So boring!"

Prós: "The crew were friendly, respknisbe and professional, while the food was tasty. We were on time and kept well informed along the way. The movie selection was good and the touch screens were some of the best in terms of image quality and responsiveness I've seen aboard a plane."
Contras: "Space and comfort. Lufthansa is joining too many airlines in figuring out the exact minimal space a human needs to be able to be seems hurtling through the air. This leads to cramped, tight spaces with little to no freedom to shift your body. Because of this limited space, seats can only recline so far and leave one uncomfortable, though that angle is enough to create even less space for the person behind you or for you, when faced with a reclining front neighbor. So, minimal benefit of minimal recline and maximum discomfort caused for that minimal gain."
Contras: "The person at the Swiss/Lufthansa front desk, some Mohamed guy, was very rude when he did my check in"
Prós: "The crew were very helpful and polite. The seats had plenty legroom. The food was excellent, and entertainment was also very good. Most importantly, there was no delay."
Contras: "Crew was not friendly or very helpful, nothing stood out. As this was the first leg of my international flight, it would have been much better I had proper food, rather than a bag of 6 pretzels, especially since I had to be at the airport three hours earlier, and I had a six hour layover in Newark."
Prós: "The crew was pleasant, and the food just fine. The entertainment options of movies or music or news were quite good."
Contras: "The first plane left too late to make the connection. The Lufthansa staffer who reorganized my trip considered two options and picked the best one. However, she didn't stress to me how far the next gate was at another terminal -- luckily I asked someone else who helped me get a bus. I am not fluent in German so that may have added to my uncertainty. And my suitcase, which she said she was making sure would get to me in Marseilles, did not come for 24 hours."
Prós: "Our attendents were clearly focused on our needs. Efficient and still very human and kind. A real treat."
Contras: "Awful customer service once out of the airplane. It took 2 hours from landing to get our luggage. Just terrible. How many times can someone hear a generic announcement about luggage being here momentarily? This left a very poor impression of Lufthansa overall for me and everyone in my party."
Prós: "It was unclear how to do the boarding after priority boarding. People seems to board whenever they wanted; so was a bit confusing."

Contras: "They scheduled our connection flight from Munich to Dulles Wash DC to close to our arrival. For example, the flight from Athens landed just four minutes before boarding started for our connection and we had to go through German customs. Luckily for us there were many passengers on the Athens flight that were also going on Dulles flight the airline waited for the passengers. This scheduling issue caused unnecessary stress that could have been avoided."

The food, wine/ beer service was same as regular economy, the boarding took place at same time as economy, no drink before take-off if only sparkling water. And the plane was old generation 747 and the entertainment was same vintage: screen was not very bright and the selection of films was poor. No plug to charge electronics. We were disappointed with KLM when comparing with other airline companies offerings when you book in Premium Economy."

I had to wait for a small plane coming from Edinburgh then wait for it to be emptied of passengers and cleaned. This meant we were over 2 hours late into Istanbul. No explanation or apology. I then missed my next flight in Istanbul and had to purchase another ticket. I cannot believe that air passengers are treated in this way!!! I will follow this up with KLM when I go home from my holiday."

Contras: "The first announcement they made to all of us in the economy section was thay they did not have any headphones for anyone but business class. I was told when I booked the seat that the headphones would be complementary. So I did not bother to bring any assuming they were going to keep their word; I figure I'd make it work and watch a movie without sound. If that isn't bad enough midway through my nine hour flight my monitor went out and would not turn back on."

Contras: "Flight delayed ... Myself and three other colleagues didn't have our luggage show up from KLM flight from Amsterdam to Brussels...even though all of our luggage was labeled "priority". Once in customer service line, we looked and saw that many of the other passengers on our flight also never received their luggage. We estimated that 20-25% of the people on that flight did not receive their luggage as they were in line with us for the same problem. Hard to understand how so many pieces of luggage could have been overlooked and not loaded on our flight. Obviously there is a huge gap in their quality system to ensure mistakes like this are prevented."

Delta/Air France clearly singled her out. i am outraged! I have traveled many, many times and have sent hundreds of students on nearly the same trip -- and none have had as rough a time as she had. They will be hearing from me."

Sitting in exit row with no floor storage so this delay made it hard to find overhead storage above my seat. (Grrrr) Entertainment system didn't work which made the flight feel LOOONG. (They offered an in-flight credit, but I'd paid for premium exit row seat and had to choose between moving to working system in crowded middle seat or keep premium, exit seat. I decided to have them move me to a seat with a working entertainment system, which were available and they'd offered, but never happened.) When I got home, I discovered the gift I purchased with in-flight credit and my own money wasn't the one I'd requested from Duty Free catalog so now I have to figure out how to solve this problem. (COULDN'T GET IT RIGHT.) Premium exit row seat was narrow, due to in-seat tray table & entertainment system, but seatbelt mounts and thinly padded seat made it even more uncomfortable on a long flight."

"ergonomic" seats: uncomfortable, narrow, really close to the one in front of you. - Normal (exit row): just give up. There's like 6 of these and they're taken immediately. - Normal (middle of the plane): are you kidding me? These are NORMAL seats and you charge an extra €30? - Normal (2 seats per row!): what a bargain. Same crappy seats, but two people instead of three! This is really worth my money. - Upgrade to business! Why are you so poor! AF food went from being the best in international flights to disgusting microwave food (especially vegetarian)."
