They suggested I waited 9 hours for the next available flight or to get one by AA in Reagan Airport in 3 hours. They told me that transportation to that airport would not be reimbursed and would cost between 20 and 40 dollars. I didn't know the airports were that far apart and the one-hour taxi drive cost me 80 dollars. From Sao Paulo to Washington, things went as well as expected. Once landed everything was horrible."

Contras: "This was a discount garbage carrier. I have ridden on cargo boats off the coast of Nicaragua that I would recommend before Xiamen. They don’t give you your connecting boarding pass when you leave the country. You have to go through China’s bullshit customs service three times just to get to your next flight. Chinese customs is like a bowl full of retarted fish smelling their own farts. Six people doing nothing while one blithering idiot Stubles through paperwork."
Contras: "The seats don't even recline, so I could not lie back to rest. The entertainment system was very bad, didn't provide earphones and could barely see the screen. I would not choose to fly this airline again."
Prós: "The plane was new, the plane was clean, and all the airline hostesses were not 65 years old. Oh and everyone complaining about the visa requirements for China. Bend over a take one for the team like a man just Go to a travel agent in any in China Town. $100 US will get you a bias good for 10 years and it only take a week. Otherwise fly Delta for $1200."
Contras: "Limited selection of English language movies but hey it was a China airline so no bit surprise there."
Contras: "Nothing. I was sent to two long layovers in China and was told they were too long for them to take me without a visa for China. I was not told I needed one for any layover. I had to purchase a ticket on another site to get home or be stranded in Manila. Kayak doesn't have a customer service number to fix this."

Contras: "Everything else. Staff was rude and did not speak English, food was terrible, and the airport was very confusing. We had a 4 hour layover at Xiamen airport and instead of going straight to our gate, they made us go through immigration, then transfer services, then back through immigration. We landed at 5am, the transfer services open at 6, then check in opens at 6:50, but we weren’t allowed to check in until 8am because our flight was at 10am. We basically stood in line without anyone giving clear instructions and waited at different line ups for 1 hour each. Horrible airplane, horrible airport. Never transferring here again."

Contras: "Still a little more leg room but not as much as on the 787. Had to ask twice to get a Thai immigration form and the crew took an above average amout of time to pickup after the meals were finished."
Prós: "New and very clean airplane. Appears to be an inch or two more room between the seats on the 787 to and from China. Good boarding procedure."
Contras: "The actual flights were ok. The experience at the airports was the reason for the below average rating. They are not set up to handle transit passengers. The signage in English is poor or nonexistant. The overall level of English for the airport staff is very poor. One goes upstsirs/downstairs nunerous times. Because the second portion of WF858 is domestic flight, the passenger needs to exit the terminal and re-enter as an international passenger. Numerous security and passport lines. I found the movie selection to be poor with few non-violent movies available. Will not fly this route again."
Contras: "The check in staff did not let me check in and denied to support me! The reason was that my first name, middle name and last name were written in English order, not in Chinese order! I want my money back! All of my plan and meetings in Xiamen were cancelled!"
Prós: "Plane was new and clean. Flight crew was very friendly. Liked the mood lighting during the flight. Good selection of films to watch during the long flight."
Contras: "The food was okay but they ran out of selection a couple of times so I had no choice what to eat. But that’s it nothing else I didn’t like. Really good airline."

Contras: "I was very sick and contagious and asked for a single person hotel room for the night before a connecting flight. It was not accommodated. It would have cost extra 100-200 yuan. Then when we asked for the shuttle to the hotel, the security at the departures level meant we could not exit and be picked up. No one could arrange pick up at arrivals. Instead we paid for a taxi ourselves. Poor service and coordination, especially considering I could barely talk and just badly needed a rest."

Prós: "Kept me well hydrated, supplied tissues that helped me bear a long flight while sick. Early arrival appreciated. Fresh fruit was good."
Contras: "Crew might have cleared away medications by mistake but they tried hard to find it, inquired all attendants and even looked through the trash. I missed the passing of of declaration forms twice while I was in the bathroom and when we landed the customs people directed me wrong so I had to wait a long time in line to get through customs without water which made me sicker and I had to go to the doctor."

Prós: "787 Dreamliner's hardscape was new and clean. IFE was decent but had some anomalies (can't take off of pause unless you shut off screen, select same movie and resume). Food was fairly decent and plentiful. Think a cheap chinese diner & you've got it."
Contras: "Crew was efficient but can't speak Englsh worth a nickel! While I have a limited ability in Mandarin (think 5yo vocab), the announcements in Engrish was almost as bad as some of the translations in many Chinese products. I pity the people who can't understand ANY Chinese: they could not possibly get most of the announcements. They should really get at least 1 FA that can speak and understand English. The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

Contras: "Show up and the flight was delayed 4 hours. No reason given. My layover in Xiamen was only 2 hours. They kept wanting me to fly the next day. When I complained loud enough they finally yielded and found an alternative to LAX."

Contras: "As everyone was lining up at the gate to board, a guy came out yelling at everyone is Chinese. I have no idea what he said but it didn't sound good. We sat on the plane for 1.5 hr waiting to depart. An announcement was finally made that there was some kind of issue with air traffic, we ended up almost 2 hrs delayed. The volume on the media device in front of me was not working. The seats were terribly uncomfortable, my butt was hurting after the first hour."
Prós: "The flight from JFK to Fuzhou was enjoyable. Plenty of leg room and the entertainment kept me occupied throughout the flight. The food was excellent. They provide 2 full meals, 1 half meal and a snack, where I wasn't hungry at all throughout the 14+ hr flight."
Contras: "It was almost impossible to get in touch with an English speaking representative. I tried to call to confirm my booking that I made through kayak.com. When I got in touch, the rep from an overseas office barely spoke English and didn't help at all. Thankfully everything worked out at the airport. Found out that JFK-FOC is only 2 months old. Hopefully they"
Prós: "The company that Kayak use for my ticket (Yayama) had some random passport number on my reservation. The ticket agent told me that I had to call to travel agent to get it changed. I tried to call three times (from China) and all three time I was put on hold to 10 to 15 minutes then disconnected. I finally got someone at the service desk to call the airline and get the passport number correct. This added over an hour to my check in process. Luckily, I arrive early and was able to make the flight, no help from Yayama. Terrible!!!!"
