Contras: "My flight was changed from having 1 layover, to having 2 and getting back much later in the day. When I got to the airport, my flight had been changed again to have 3 layovers and getting back the next morning. When I spoke with a representative at the Rio airport she said she couldn't do anything for me but to ask at my next layover where they could switch me to a direct flight. When I asked at that airport, they said they didn't even fly direct flights. Worst airline experience I've ever had."

Contras: "Flight delays outbound (4 hours) Flight delay on Return Flight (14 hours) The Avianca Rio de Janeiro land crew was very disorganized. Long lines to check in and help others to fix the delay and re-routes, while many Avianca employees were standing around."
Prós: "Flights on time and the service was good - not effects from threatened pilots strike. Avianca has Airbus 320s (I think). They are new and seem to be well maintained, but they somehow put in the Asian sized seats. You can extend the headrest upwards, but if you are long in the torso it can be across your shoulders and be quite unpleasant."
Contras: "The reservation failed to make it obvious that the connecting flights between Barranquilla and Bucaramanga were in two terminals. Yellow Cab driven by Mario Andretti's Columbino stand in got me from one terminal to the other in the nick of time for cop15,000. Then, I waited for a while. Take carry on only if making the quick Barranquilla to Bucaramanga connection, and remember you have to change terminals."

Contras: "It took two hours in line to be told our flight was cancelled. After waiting another hour we were told they did not have alternative flights for us. They refused to have conversation and would randomly leave to the back office for 20 minutes at a time or stop assisting people at all. There were people screaming at the ticketing counter and security was called. In the end we spent 14 hours waiting there for a new flight, got split up and sent to different countries, had to miss work, and were not given any flight credit, accommodation, or even an apology."

Contras: "I lost my flight because I did not receive any notification that avianca wasn't allowing people to get on the plane to Bogota from Rio de janeiro without a yellow fever vaccine certificate. Keeping in mind that my departure flight was from Bogota with the same airline. So I lost my return flight and avianca wouldn't give me any discount on getting a new one."

Contras: "A delayed flight from Santa Marta to Bogota due to bad weather in Bogota. Surprisingly, the connecting flight to New York left on time of course. Also it was drizzling on arrival to Bogota. I still suspicious that they blamed for rain to cover up their mechanical/ management issues or they intentionally delayed our flight so we can miss the flight to New York which they over booked and cut their loss. Anyway, I needed to arrange a hotel myself and Aviance claimed it was solely due to bad weather. I got what I paid for. Their rate was lower for the risk of their disorganized service and possible dishonesty. Or it can be really bad weather earlier. But one of UK passenger told me her daughter couple was in Santa Marta a few weeks ago and they went through the exact same issue. They might be unlucky family members go through the same rare situations. Now I got why Avianca gets bad reviews."

We were informed thatcher would have to wait 24hours (after an already 7 hour layover) to catch another flight to Los Angeles. After debating with customer servinge several times and being forced to wait in line after being told things were fixed several time we had to threaten to record conversations and had someone call American Airlines headquarters and finally was able to get in the flight the same night. We at work be point were laughed at by an American Airlines customer service professional. I had purchased upgraded seats since I’m over 6 feet tall and they were not able to accommodate on the new flight, the flight was horrible and I had ton stand up every hour to make I the whole 12 hours."

Contras: "Since check in in São Paulo was a complete chaos. There were only 2 people helping on check in (in machines) and these people were still not helping people (like me) with questions about on how to do check in in those machines. On the other hand to dispatch the bags there were almost 8 attendants to receive the bags. Ridiculous! I’ve tried calling American Airlines and Latam several times to assign a seat for me and they swore there were only middle seats but I know how airlines work to make extra money on these seats. At the end, they only gave me a middle seat option and I had to take I.t of course. On the plane I realized there were dozens of empty seats and yet they made sure not give them to me or anyone else. Unbelievable! Unfortunately I still have to use AA on my way back to Brazil. After this, I’ll chose another airlines for sure. Also, the 3,4,3 arrangement is ridiculous: there’s no corridor space making people touching you everything someone passes by your seat. And boy! Those seats are so uncomfortable and there’s no way to incline the chair so you can even have a little rest (because it’s impossible to even sleep on those seats). The crew were simply doing their jobs! No pleasure! No smile! No engaging with anyone unfortunately! They looked miserable and I asked for water and the flight attendant NEVER brought me anything. Seriously! Water is free!"

Barely made any announcements Once we did take off all they gave us was a packet of so called pretzels that were stale and gross!!"

Flight crew repeated all instructions at least 3 times including video interruptions. What is the point of having in flight entertainment if crew will interrupt said entertainment at least once every 10 min to remind you you are still in turbulent air? Do they honestly think the passengers forgot? We are in the plane too! I understand they have to be careful due to liability but this airline is ridiculous. Believe it or not customers do not like being treated like children. Would not recommend to others or fly this airline again. Also, the lunch was awful even by airline standards. Btw the airline was avianca not AA. kayak must have messed up or they are owned by AA. AA is great and I recommend them wholeheartedly but Avianca is awful. Stay away if you can afford to do so."

Obviously an older plane, because there were no outlets (again, paid for upgraded seats). Previous flight was WAY better and I was in the regular seat."

Also they lost my luggage. LATAM and American Air Lines doesnt know where my luggage is. I arrived at my LAX 12 hours after. They still dont know where my luggage is"
Contras: "I had my reservation cancelled despiste numerous phone calls. The flight was operated by AA, and they told me I wasn't on the flight, but after many phone calls LATAN assured me I was booked on the flight. When I got to the airport, I was not allowed to board my direct flight from GRU to LAX, instead I was sent to Miami then Charlestown , I took me an extra 12 hours to get home. I lost a day of work. Who's going to reimburse me for that ???"

And thank you for the USB outlet, now if you could just do that for ALL domestic flights i would never fly anything other than AA. Also, my connection was late and AA held the flight for me and 11 others to our final destination to Honolulu. Thank you American Airlines."

Prós: "the crew handled the lengthy delay as well as they could, seems like they didn't have any information either which is ridiculous."
Contras: "We boarded the plane at 1:30 for a 2:00 flight, there was a filter out in one of the three bathrooms; the option to take a 45 min flight without use of the restrooms was there, we were told to use the restroom if we needed to before the flight so everyone did... then we continued to sit on the ground for two hours. After two hours we were allowed to get off the plane, 20 minutes later back onto the plane, backed away from the gate and then pulled into a different gate and were told to get back off the plane. At this point we were given no info or direction but to go talk to special services if we want to re-book a different flight (sold out until at the earliest 8:15pm). After about an hour they announce they are re-boarding the original plane, takes another 45 minutes to board the plane, then we are told two separate issues caused this lengthy delay one was a filter in the bathroom and the other was a thermostat... seems like very basic standard maintenance issues that could have been avoided with routine checks. We were offered zero compensation, the trip took over 6 hours in all to fly from Philadelphia PA to Boston MA; a trip I could have driven in less time. I continue to have issues with American Airlines and "mechanical" delays, the last flight i was on From Charlotte to Baltimore was delayed an hour due to a strap in the cargo area. I don't understand the logic behind the decisions made to hold the full plane over 5 hours instead of taking a 45 minute flight, but I will say the crew was very apologetic and handled the situation well."

Prós: "The Rio de Janeiro international airport is very difficult to traverse. However, the airport staff was very helpful in directing me several times to the correct location."
Contras: "United needs a check-in kiosk located between the domestic arrivals section and the international connection hallway just before security. I had to walk to the complete length of the airport and back again, just to check-in. Other airlines, such as Delta, have a kiosk located just before the security entrance. The cabin temperature was absolutely freezing during the flight, and I am usually hot."

And.. I HAD RESERVED MY SEATS..MAKES NO FRICKEN SENSE.. The tkt guy was rude when I told him I reserved our seats and now we are all 3 scattered everywhere alone. I think that's WHY HE PUT US IN THE VERY BACK BEING HATEFUL BECAUSE I WAS NOT HAPPY THAT UNITED DECIDED TO SEPARATE US FROM ROW I TO 30.. Also I am paying to bring my children to Mexico and I can't get points for it. Just sayin..."

Contras: "The crew seemed so much less friendly on this flight, however they got the job done. I was scolded for having a carry on with me, although I did notice there was still a portion of overhead space that was unused. Also, no in-flight wifi service like the last flight was available it seemed. That was a bummer"
Contras: "USB charger ports would be great. The planes seemed a bit old."
Prós: "Staff are nice and helpful."
Contras: "Everything is an additional cost! Food, tv, beverages and that is not how it is anywhere else unless you are on a budget airline or flight which this was not."
Prós: "I liked the view of the airplane and i liked the assitant are really nice"
Contras: "There was no tv and the food was a little bit"
Prós: "That i finally arrived at my destination"
Contras: "The flight was immorally delayed by 1.5hrs. then by another half an hour. Then there were issues with boarding, which delayed us more. Then the plane was put in a holding pattern (just circling in the area) because there was too much traffic at Seattle. I understand there are many factors that affect flights, but the entire experience today left me feeling really down and disappointed, and unfortunately, annoyed."
Contras: "They held us on the plane from Indy to Chicago for so long that most of us knew we were going to miss our flights. I ran all the way to my gate to discover that the plane took off 10 minutes earlier than it was supposed to. I was told there were no other flights to LA and I would have to get a hotel until tomorrow. I was only going to be in California for 2 days so every second counts, so when I became upset the man checked again and found me a seat on a plane that took off in an hour. I was grateful but at the same time I was kind of displeased that he didn't offer that to me originally."
Prós: "Nice clean plane, very friendly and helpful crew."
Contras: "The hour delay."
Prós: "Cabin crew were fantastic"
Prós: "Got a $300 voucher for giving up my seat. Flew with delta on a direct flight instead of having a 2 hour layover and got to my destination almost 2 1/2 hours earlier than originally scheduled. It was a win win."
Contras: "Having to run across the airport to catch my new flight and go through security twice. But in the end it was with it."
Prós: "It was just GOOOOD"
Contras: "The wi fi did not work"
Contras: "Noone from the airline felt the need to let me connecting flight know we had been delayed so I ran a very long distance just to miss my flight by 2 minutes. The first flight should have absolutely notified the second flight to hold off for 5 minutea because we landed late, they were both the same airline. Handled very poorly and I was stuck in DC overnight."
Prós: "What did I like? The best thing is that is over."
Contras: "Where to begin. Was it the confidence-boosting airplane that had to be 'jump started' as we left Denver? Or was it the 2.5 hour late start we got out of Dfw, only to be turned around again on the runway to get more furl, then enduring the 2.5 hour flight from Dfw to Houston (which is a 3.5 hour DRIVE). Was it the missed flight out if Houston, or was it when they told me they could not get us out in Sunday, but that Tuesday morning was looking pretty good. This was a disaster flight."
