Then, they boarded by zones, but I had no idea what zone I was supposed to be in and it was nowhere on my ticket. Anywhere. Then, when I finally decided to go try to board, they wouldn't let me because they said I didn't have a return ticket. In fact, I had proof of onward travel in three different forms. But they insisted that I had to have a flight as proof of leaving Guatemala and assured me that customs would prevent me from entering. They also said I had 5 minutes to book something or I would miss the flight. No one ever paged me to discuss this prior to departure! And do you know how much Guatemala asked about my onward travel? Zero. Nada. In the fluster of buying an almost $400 ticket, I clicked to book through a third party that doesn't allow refunds. Fortunately, after I landed I called them right away to cancel and managed to make it happen since the ticket hadn't been issued, but if I had failed at that it would have been at least $130 when all was said and done. Ride was uncomfortable, flight attendants we're rude and impatient, and I was ignored for food service."

So, Avianca just randomly decides to significantly change flight times and it costs me over $400, AND without a way home. The submission to consider even a partial refund was rejected in a matter of days. This is the worst airline ever and you should never ever rely on a flight with them."

Luckily, bags never made it onto original flight so arrived with me on later flight. Inconvenient but understandable. Mexico City requires more than an hour (at least 1hr and about 40 minutes more) to make connections."

And finally the plane delay and no information show the plane will delay for how long. Bad information in the counter My handle of the sit is broken I have photo to proof if you would need it, I save it with me. The lighting system in the plane is very stupid or may be the crew don't know how to operate, every time they just turn on all the light no matter we are sleep or not! This is a red eye flight passenger should have a choice to not get disturb, when the light on I need to turn it off every time! And the next passenger don't really know how to turn the light off that always on during the flight! Super bad flying experience. Not comfortable at all. Can't sleep much!"

Prós: "Old plane with new seats. The exit row window seat — which they rate as a preferred seat was terrible as the exit door sticks into the plane and takes away your room. And the seat doesn’t recline - they forget to say that."

Contras: "Was informed when we checked in that the flight we had purchased did not exists. We were informed thatcher would have to wait 24hours (after an already 7 hour layover) to catch another flight to Los Angeles. After debating with customer servinge several times and being forced to wait in line after being told things were fixed several time we had to threaten to record conversations and had someone call American Airlines headquarters and finally was able to get in the flight the same night. We at work be point were laughed at by an American Airlines customer service professional. I had purchased upgraded seats since I’m over 6 feet tall and they were not able to accommodate on the new flight, the flight was horrible and I had ton stand up every hour to make I the whole 12 hours."
Prós: "The only decent point was the food. Not great but at least edible."
Contras: "Since check in in São Paulo was a complete chaos. There were only 2 people helping on check in (in machines) and these people were still not helping people (like me) with questions about on how to do check in in those machines. On the other hand to dispatch the bags there were almost 8 attendants to receive the bags. Ridiculous! I’ve tried calling American Airlines and Latam several times to assign a seat for me and they swore there were only middle seats but I know how airlines work to make extra money on these seats. At the end, they only gave me a middle seat option and I had to take I.t of course. On the plane I realized there were dozens of empty seats and yet they made sure not give them to me or anyone else. Unbelievable! Unfortunately I still have to use AA on my way back to Brazil. After this, I’ll chose another airlines for sure. Also, the 3,4,3 arrangement is ridiculous: there’s no corridor space making people touching you everything someone passes by your seat. And boy! Those seats are so uncomfortable and there’s no way to incline the chair so you can even have a little rest (because it’s impossible to even sleep on those seats). The crew were simply doing their jobs! No pleasure! No smile! No engaging with anyone unfortunately! They looked miserable and I asked for water and the flight attendant NEVER brought me anything. Seriously! Water is free!"

Contras: "I didn't like anything else about the flight. My seat was broken and the seats are incredibly cramped! Absolutely no leg room whatsoever. I am 6 feet tall which is an average male height so I can't imagine how anyone taller fits in those seats."

Contras: "Film selection was subpar, and had no subtitles available. Flight safety information video so unbelievably boring. Flight crew repeated all instructions at least 3 times including video interruptions. What is the point of having in flight entertainment if crew will interrupt said entertainment at least once every 10 min to remind you you are still in turbulent air? Do they honestly think the passengers forgot? We are in the plane too! I understand they have to be careful due to liability but this airline is ridiculous. Believe it or not customers do not like being treated like children. Would not recommend to others or fly this airline again. Also, the lunch was awful even by airline standards. Btw the airline was avianca not AA. kayak must have messed up or they are owned by AA. AA is great and I recommend them wholeheartedly but Avianca is awful. Stay away if you can afford to do so."

Contras: "I did not fly I lost my flight they had a problem with the airplane on my flight from brasilia to sao paulo so I arrived late lost the connection to my other flight from Sao Paulo to LAX. Also they lost my luggage. LATAM and American Air Lines doesnt know where my luggage is. I arrived at my LAX 12 hours after. They still dont know where my luggage is"

The flight was operated by AA, and they told me I wasn't on the flight, but after many phone calls LATAN assured me I was booked on the flight. When I got to the airport, I was not allowed to board my direct flight from GRU to LAX, instead I was sent to Miami then Charlestown , I took me an extra 12 hours to get home. I lost a day of work. Who's going to reimburse me for that ???"

Prós: "The Rio de Janeiro international airport is very difficult to traverse. However, the airport staff was very helpful in directing me several times to the correct location."
Contras: "United needs a check-in kiosk located between the domestic arrivals section and the international connection hallway just before security. I had to walk to the complete length of the airport and back again, just to check-in. Other airlines, such as Delta, have a kiosk located just before the security entrance. The cabin temperature was absolutely freezing during the flight, and I am usually hot."

Contras: "Everything. This was a UA plane and LH ticket. We had to check in with LH in a completely different concourse than we departed. The plane was very aged, the carpets and seats were soiled and the bathrooms were in a terrible state of repair and floors filthy. I think this plane is more fitting for the grave yard than the skies. It was completely overcrowded with seats. Although I am only 6 ft tall, my knees touched the seat in front on me. Entertainment was disfunctional to a state of unusable. The small analog screens were streaked and blurry and selection terrible. Audio jacks were worn so bad you could maintain contact one ear but at the time. Food was awful and very sparse and served by very Grouchy crew members. Breakfast and a snack were inedible. No real meal was served. Never again on UA. I recommend LH consider divorcing themselves from UA."
Contras: "The check-in staff was dismissive and unhelpful when I arrived past the 45 minute bag check cut-off time due to traffic. No help getting a bag check refund even though I paid for it a day early. Come to find out that the gate staff was courtesy checking everyone's bags anyway, and they took it with a smile. Those fools at the front were content to take my money and tell me to somehow mail my luggage to my destination (not possible since the flight was boarding in 35 minutes). There needs to be communication with the check in staff regarding courtesy check ins."

I am for some coffee she replied that they had that in first class but it was crazy cause I just looked thru the pamphlet and it said Now Serving Illy coffee which I love. Then I saw her give another passenger a cup of coffee she looked at me with an attitude like I just made that... Then she brought it. This was crazy because if she wasn't black I would have called her racist then again done black people are racist to they own..SMH"
