We had a small suite and the room was very spacious, unlike many other NYC hotels. The bedding was not as luxurious as I would have liked. I could have used an extra blanket or two.
I have stayed at this hotel in numerous occasions and think its a good location . The front staff at the initial check in were the rudest staff I have ever met.I felt in this occasion they were despicable.I would therefore think very carefully before staying there again !

The only thing we liked about the hotel was the location. The rooms were very small and filthy dirty. The staff was really rude. It was difficult to understand the English of the people working at the front desk and some of them were nasty.
the New Yorker hotel is in a perfect location for visiting and shopping and we really appreciate this. Maybe the difference of price according to the days of staying. they should make a special offer for those like us who stayed for an entire week.
The location is perfect for shopping and sighseeing. Hotel has 2 restaurants serving good quality food. It has a spacious lobby with fast check in and out facilities. It offers security safes at no charge. Security is very strict in the lobby before you enter elevators which makes female travellers feel very safe. There are lots of really good restaurants nearby in 7th Avenue and en route to Times Square. I loved everything about the New Yorker. There is nothing bad about this hotel.

Nothing. I would recommend kayak remove this hotel from their booking options. It was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars and was the worst hotel I have ever seen. I travel all the time and use you guys to book flights etc. This was my first experience booking a hotel and I will never utilize the service again. I am having to battle with you guys to get money back for a place that was so low quality we didn't feel safe sleeping there. We encountered serious issues upon arrival. We looked at two different rooms and decided due to the condition of the hotel and the utter disarray of the rooms that we could not stay there. We are working back trying to get our money back as we had to make other sleeping arrangements.
The location was convenient and it was easy to get to all different places around the city. The rooms could use a bit of updating but we were not in that much. Just to sleep.

Bell Hop took bags to room. I gave a $10 dollar tip for 10 minutes of his time. He looked at me and asked.."Really only $10 that is all my time is worth to you"? It was my first time in New York so I took back the $10 and gave him $20. I was later told by other staff the Ball Hop was in the wrong and that I should have taken his name and reported him. Rooms were ok at best. Not super clean.

While they did comp our room due to bedbugs, the manager has yet to respond to my complaint of lost items and additional expenses. I was promised that my clothing would be returned within a the day-took 2 days. i had to buy a winter coat (as mine was sent out for decontamination). still waiting to be reimbursed.
Absolutely nothing. It was, by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms are from the 80's. Dirty and smell like cigarettes. Staff is unfriendly unwilling to answer the most simple of questions. The valet service is a joke. It took us 1.5 hours to get our vehicle back when we checked out.
The only thing I can save from my stay was the location, it's not far from places of sightseeing and they have a metro station right in front of the hotel but that's the only thing I can think of. The hotel is just awful, the staff is just unfriendly and very rude, I had a problem with one of the employees and they could even apologize even do they almost ruin my hole stay there. The room is just sad, is very very small, so dirty and the bed will make you cry, we had to sleep over the bed because the sheets and everything was just disgusting. Really don't stay here is not worth it and you are going to regret booking here, I did...

The restaurant was nice, good food The room was never properly cleaned. I stayed for 6 nights and the room was never fully cleaned. The bathroom mirrors had the same smears the entire stay, the floor was dusty and hairy and I saw the same piles of dirt from day one. The glass shower wall had a soap scum that remained the entire time as did the bathtub. The entire room was dusty and never saw any of it cleaned. And I'm quite certain my sheets weren't even changed daily. I believe the cleaning crew only changed towels and made the bed. I also asked that they did not leave the a/c on 65 each day and i continued to return to an ice box daily!

The hotel has a lot of things going for it, judging by our recent visit. The property is very clean, the location close to Times Square and Hell's Kitchen is convenient, and there is a subway stop on the same block. The room was very spacious and comfortable. All in all, it was a great stay. The only thing to point out is if you're a light sleeper, earplugs may be needed. We were on the ninth floor but could still hear cars blowing their horns and there is a police station next door, so sirens can frequently be heard.
LOVED the place. By far the best value in the city! the room was perfect for our family! The bar and lounge in the lobby ROCKED! Roman, the bartender was great! The entire staff was super friendly! 5 STARS !!
I like the new trend of wood floors, as used here. Seems cleaner. The rooms are very attractive, but less functional than others. The beds are very comfortable. There are lots of places to plug in devices (regular outlets and USB) in several places. Elevators are plentiful and efficient. Loved having a Keurig coffeemaker. I interacted little with staff, but all I encountered in the hallways were friendly. A little off the beaten track, which is good in the city. And right next to a police precinct, which made me feel extra safe. There was no drawer-storage in my room (the closet is elevated, so you can put things on the floor of that, plus belowe the closet are two cubbies - one with the iron/board and one with a safe, but not really convenient for clothing). There was no countertop space in the bathroom for cosmetics, etc. No minibar, which is a sign of 4* and up, to me. And all that is provided are paper coffee cups. Some people may like that they may be cleaner, but I like glass glasses, and ceramic cups. Since I brought a bottle of wine, I asked in the bar if I could have a wine glass to take to my room and the bartender said he wasn't allowed to give one to me. I had a problem turning my TV off with the remote (it would just come back on) and a late night call to the front desk was no help ("Just turn the volume all the way down.") I eventually found a power button on the TV, but the desk clerk should have suggested that. At check-in, the clerk was not unfriendly, but when he handed me my keycard, he didn't really explain anything about the facility (breakfast, etc.) like people usually do.
Close to subway stop A lot of noise in room hardwood floors and thin walls, makes for a noisy experience especially with the exit doors being slammed by housekeeping all day. Could hear full conversations in the rooms from neighbors

Front desk was wonderful, just things beyond their control occurred. Shower in our room squirted from wall even after repair man tried to fix, had to change rooms, delay in getting extra towels from housekeeping--the biggest and most noticeable is the cleaning staff does not know how to properly clean a room, wood floors not swept in rooms and the space between glass showers and sink have never been cleaned--whole bars of used soap, hair ties, wrappers and etc in the space-- just totally gross-- room 306!! They really need a lesson in how to clean a room!!!
I have stayed at the Tryp several times (perhaps 8-10x) over the past few years. Overall, the room size is good, price is good, nice little bar downstairs. Decent accommodations for the money. The staff was so horrible this time around. Just overall not accommodating. There was no hot water on the coldest day of the year. My husband took a freezing cold shower and the just put their hands up like oh well!
Great value! We had an enjoyable weekend visit to NYC with a group of friends. We stayed in a Premium Room with 2 Queen beds, and a pull-out sofa. It also had a mini-fridge and wet bar area. The room was huge, clean, and very comfortable with tons of windows. The location of the hotel was convenient to our weekend plans at MSG. Hotel lobby staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would certainly recommend it to friends.
I didnt like anything about it. I reserve a room with 2 Queen Size bed when we get there it wasn't reserve for us awful experience the man in the front desk he suggest his going to look for another hotel but we were so tired we just need to relax.
The location is awesome! The cleanliness and comfort of the room fit my needs well Front staff in evening is less than eager to communicate about the room availability and rates. I reserved the room via Kayak and the concept seemed foreign to the staff.
close to penn station I stayed for 4 nights. very loud and i'm talking about car trucks passing by it's people banging on trash cans and construction. The hotel is next door to a police station. room are good size but decor is modern cheap looking with dispensers for shampoo and body wash glued in the shower. I would not stay there again.

The staff was very friendly. I arrived several hours before check in and was allowed to drop my bags off. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Lobby was unusually small. Hotel only had two elevator shafts for 25+ floors and at one point both of them were broken.
Located on a quiet side street but still within walking distance to many attractions. Plenty of subway stops within a block or two that will take you to any destination you want. Staff was super friendly and inviting. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Close to Megabus drop-off location. Room was bigger than I thought it would be given the location. There was an iron and hairdryer in the room, but no mini fridge (which wasn't necessary for our short stay). There are some things out of the control of the hotel; construction around the area and trash left in the street for city pickup didn't make walking for the most pleasant walking experience. There were coffee stains on the nightstand lampshade and the carpet could use a good cleaning or replacement. Not sure what the parking situation is as we took the bus.
I enjoyed my stay there, I liked receiving a cookie upon arrival. It was supposed to be a king size room, but was just a queen size bed.
Great location! We were a short walk to a metro station, Highline and empire state building. Great food options nearby. Room was clean, although small. Kids had a great time. And they loved getting a cookie everyday! We also had a view of the one world trade center. There wasn't a fridge, which would have been helpful, but the room was small, so I can see how they couldn't fit it in.
Staff was excellent. Bar was golden after we got to the hotel from both exploring and enyoing the city. Concierge was great! Plenty of places around to eat including the hotel. Nice view with a glimpse of the Empire from our room. Rooms were clean, a little cramped, but its NYC. The staff (maids) tends to be forgetful about simple items like toilet paper or anything to stir coffee with! Location its a mix, depending on the line needed. Sometimes we went to 34th ST in order to get some other line.

Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was good sized with a large shower, but there was virtually no counter space and it was impossible to use the faucet and sink without splashing water outside the sink. The room had almost no drawer space. Two narrow and deep drawers and one letter drawer. Closet also very small. If you are staying more than a day or two, you will have to still live our of your suitcase. Speaking of suit cases - no place to put them to get them out of the way. Very poorly designed room/bathroom/furniture for counter space and drawers. Broken safety rail in shower - very dangerous! Nice breakfast - but constantly running out of plates, bowls, etc.
The staff at the DoubleTree South Times Square is AWESOME! Friendly, helpful, bent over backwards to make my stay comfortable. Small room, ice machines not on every floor. SLOW elevators!
Got in late after the Bruce Springsteen concert and the front desk associate gave my friend and I each a bottle of water. Extra cookies on check out -- which are amazing by the way! Issue with two blow dryers.
The staff was above and beyond professional, courteous,and thoughtful. The room was comfortable, very clean, and just the right size for a weekend get away with my grandson. He was very impressed and "wowed" -and for an eight year old that was all that mattered! That we only had two nights to spend!

For the cost I don't see how you can charge what you do for these rooms when you can stay at the one at Times Square for the same amount and have a suite. You can barely walk by another person in these rooms. You charge WAY TOO MUCH for them!!!

I was really pleased about the accommodations on the hotel. Full kitchen was really useful. Personnel was kind in general (as long as a problem did not arise). I did not like the eggs for breakfast. Couple of packages were not received by hotel.

The hotel space is modern is clean. The staff were friendly during every interaction. A nice gym and outdoor patio to boot. The shower water pressure was acceptable but could have been stronger.

The room was fairly large for NYC. Contemporary decor in an old hotel. Great location for Penn Station/Amtrak. Shower was TINY, and bathroom had little space for touletries. Air conditioning was loud , but helped to block out the constant horn blowing most of the night. Make sure to get a room away from the street!

Too much money for such a mediocre room. It supposed to be a non-smoking room but in reality it smelled to weed. Very disappointing experience especially having the kids there. I reserved two rooms and arrived at 4:00, there was only one room available and we had to wait for the other one almost 3 hours.

Loved the location across the street from Penn Station- front desk staff was friendly and efficient- all staff was friendly and acknowledged us whether we were walking in or down a hallway- it was refreshing. Room was very clean and spacious. I think we had a king- limited view. Loved being on 7th Ave- we walked straight up7th to Times Square and straight down 7th to Greenwich Village. So many excellent restaurants within 3 blocks. Also loved that the lobby was not hectic-crazy-busy like some of the Times Square hotels can be. I would have liked a lobby bar. Always fun to sit and people watch. There is a bar/restaurant but it's through a set of (glass) doors off the lobby. I can think of nothing else that would have improved our 3 nights here.
Big room that was immaculately clean. Have stayed here before, will stay here again. Communications between staff on phone and staff at desk unclear. Told no pet fee, then at checkin told $100 per pet!!!
Got to be the downtown location. Half a block from Madison Square Garden, a short stroll to Times Square, subway in easy reach. Staff were professional and fast.. Security was good-a doorman plus a requirement to use your room keycard to access the guest floors on the elevator. Room bright and clean, and a comfortable bed. Lots of restaurants/bars in easy reach. Overnight parking garage right off the entrance-have to hand over your car to attendant and he'll park it/bring it back to you. Not cheap, but downtown parking never is. The windows didn't have a clean seal, so there was a constant low-level draft through them and some street noise leaking in. On a cool spring day no issue, but imagine it would be VERY chilly in winter, and wonder if summer would make it a war between A/C and the leak. Bathroom TINY-one person can stand in it, and basically rotate in place-sink to toilet to shower. The shower was also very cramped-not one for the claustrophobic.
Lication Check was supposed to be 3- then got Ana ail saying it was 4- waited and didn't get in the room until 4:40- staff seemed like they were making up story as to why we didn't have our room. Got to the room- remote didn't work and no shower gel in shower- oh well... There are worse things!
The staff was excellent. The lobby is gorgeous and I love the fruit infused water there. They gave me a free upgrade and the view was stunning as well as the lighting design, environmental graphics - comfort of pillows and bed, shower... Made my visit special and I was able to leave my suitcase while I walked around.
Would not stay here or recommend to colleagues Thermostat did not work and response was poor to fix it. Sent me to new room which was very noisy and had a dirty bed.

I checked in early through Kayak's e-mail and was surprised that not only was our room ready early, but they had a pack-n' play crib set up for my little one complete with baby soap, lotion, bath toy, night light and even an outlet protector! It was a nice touch and showed that they were on top of our reservation. They put us on the top floor in a large wheel-chair accessible suite, definitely the most space I've ever had in a new York city hotel for this price! no breakfast included, but they do have a breakfast café open downstairs in the morning. It is centrally located to other breakfast options.
Very friendly staff took care of all requests. Very helpful and provided lots of suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to eat at. Gentleman taking care of valet was extremely helpful and polite. Will be back next time. The street the hotel is on is a little dark and looming. Felt safe the whole time (police station across the street) but street is not as bright and shiny as the rest of downtown. Hotel is bright and nice.

Early check in was wonderful. I was able to put my bag in the room and freshen up before attending my LANDMARK SEMINAR next door. Rooms are tiny tiny but clean with luxury basics. Pool/whirlpool/sauna would be greatly appreciated. Breakfast excellent. Thank you. Room rates high end. Beds are full sized or small queens so Bed-sharing not real option if you want total cpmfort.
Breakfast spread was above average, the roof top bar was very good -- great views. Rooms were comfortable and bathrooms were in good. Lots of school groups, so the lobby was always a zoo. Probably not an issue except during summer.

This was my first stay at Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea. I like everything about this hotel. Location is very good in mid-town Manhattan close to shops, clubs, bars.The customer service was ok. The room was big, very clean & comfortable.If you are in a mood for a Playboy TV channel it's free you can watch it in your room. I was on 19th floor the city view was ok nothing special. I will recommend this hotel to my friends & family. From 0-10 I'll give 9++++. Check-in is at 3pm. I arrived at 3:30 pm and my room was not ready I had to wait for 15 minutes in a lobby.
The hotel was in a great location for sight seeing and the sub way. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable. Although the breakfast was an "all you could eat". I thought $16.50 was a little over priced
For New York this was a pretty good size room with 2 queen beds.
Everything was 100% perfect. Room was clean, bathroom was clean, view was nice. Staff was friendly and accommodating with our luggage needs etc. I chose to be on the highest floor to get the best view and we heard loud music coming from down the street or somewhere outside as we were going to bed. It eventually stopped, and no one complained of not getting a good night's sleep due to it.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room. Tasty free coffee in the lobby. Good sound proof wall so that we did not get bothered by young group's loud chatting next door through night. The only issue was the noise of the air conditioner heater.
Customer service, reservation team and management all were pretty terrible. Provided no accomodation for a change or adjustment in reservation. In addition the front desk person was rude and abrupt when nobody else was even in the lobby. I left this hotel and went right next door to the cleaner and friendlier Hotel Indigo.
The location on 28th Street is very central and convenient. One of the elevators didn't seem to be working very well and the other was very slow. Luckily I was on the 2nd floor, so I took the stairs, which were clean and well lit. It was pouring rain when I arrived and the front desk had no umbrellas to lend. It was also very loud from street noise in my room. Inside from the hallway was quiet, even though I was near the elevator.

Chose this hotel for the price/location. Obviously you don't exactly get what you're paying for in NYC, but it was a clean hotel that was just that, nothing special. They slap you with a $50 resort fee without telling you - was told I had no extra charges at checkout, and saw the charge on my credit card later.
Nice touches were that the lobby had a water dispenser with fresh fruits in the water and cookies were served at the lobby at certain times. Staff was attentive to our needs. Broken shower head- sprayed from the base. Tight quarters with barely enough room to move luggage for 3.

the service by the hotel manager, reception and all other members that we met was beyond our expectation. They care about the guests and looking to provide the best service. The rooms are clean and modern and felt very specious the location is excellent the shower water flow was weak.
We received excellent customer service checking in and out, and no difficulty in getting a late 12 Noon checkout. The room could have been a bit cleaner, there was some residue all over the bathroom floor, cracks to the mirror in the bathroom.

Comfortable beds & room, A+++ staff,excellent location for our purpose. Only complaint was that the air conditioning was not working properly. Gave the illusion you were in control and did its own thing. Therefore, room was too warm at night.
