Loved the big huge rooms for NYC.
Loved our deluxe suite room that had sliding doors which kept each room very quiet even when watching tv with the volume turned up in one room. The push button controls were really cool for the lights and privacy settings. Enjoyed the free breakfast at Atrio and the friendly service from everyone there especially the host. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and were able to accommodate a late checkout of 2pm for us. Appreciated the unique designs and architecture of the hotel. Liked that it was located right next to the World Trade Center, and of course Shake Shack. Liked using the exercise room and business center which were very clean and well maintained. Overall it was a very relaxing and pleasant stay. Nothing really except that there was no swimming pool or entertainment room with a pool table or table tennis.
Good location, close to public transportation and nearby shopping, easy to get into uptown. Pretty quiet location. Breakfast is nothing extra, could focus on something else than, bacon, egg and bagels. Continental breakfast. Lack of information on what services are provided in the hotel e.g roomservice menu missing in room.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. The breakfast was top notch. I would have loved to stay longer.
Location, facilities & service outstandingn Nothing
The personel was very courteous. I like the complimentary bar from 5:30 to 7:30 and the choice and freshness of the breakfast Was awaken by a fire alarm at 4:00 am
We found the staff at The Embassy very polite and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. Excellent having access to the internet in the business centre. Given the price of the suite we felt the bathroom, whilst clean, was rather shabby.
Liked all except conference facility. Hotel was great. Meeting room was bad. Seats may have been most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in at a conference.
Spacious rooms. Great products. Awesome shower. Wish there was a coffee shop or starbucks in lobby
Beautiful hotel. Excellent service. Dramatic building and interior. Clunky internet sign on. Limited to 2 devices per room.
Been close to a park to enjoy calm after being in the heart of New-York.
architectural aspects of lobby and room. Location, location, location.
Very nice hotel, plenty of room, nice bathroom with nice translucent shower -- you typically don't get this much space in New York. Staff was friendly and I enjoyed the 1960's metal robots behind the lobby checkin desk. It's located in a good neighborhood, if not a bit generic. There are also a lot of nearby restaurant options, and it's a short walk to other areas with even more options. Bed was very comfortable. Lower floors can be loud with little insulation from traffic, including car stereos. I would request a high floor. Breakfast in the hotel was ruled not very good by both folks in our party, and it was rather expensive, so I'd probably eat elsewhere. However you don't pick a hotel for the restaurant and everything else was otherwise great.
beautifully done and quiet
the location was key. the rooms were decorated well and loved the tub in the bathroom. there was a problem with the temp of the room. it was 81 degrees and we couldn't set the thermostat. we asked for the front desk to check in at 8:30 and when we got home at 2:30- it was 79 degrees. it took time for someone to come up and fix and by that time- it was 3am.
Lovely comfortable rooms great staff brilliant location Having to pay for wifi
A trendy, new hotel with very helpful staff. Great room with nice amenities (HDTV, well-stocked mini bar, etc.) and a large bathroom with Kiehl toiletries. We especially liked the area as it was quiet at night with no loud bars or nightclubs either on the property or adjacent to it. It is just a few blocks from restaurants like Nobu and Tribeca Grill. The property sits directly above the Chambers St. Red Line (1, 2, 3 train) so you can get uptown quickly (Time Sq/Theather Dist and Columbus Circle). SoHo is one mile north/northeast and the Meat Packing Dist is two miles north/northwest of the hotel. The hotel guests we met appeared to be well-educated professionals who were quiet during the evening hours. We'll definitely stay here again. The room door was set to close and did so very forcefully. It should be adjusted so that the weight of the door does not close so quickly and forcefully. It was difficult to bring in/take out luggage. Also, the thermostat/room temp control was difficult to operate. However, the large comforter was warm enough that the room temperature issue did not present a problem in getting a good night's rest. Plus, I'm confident that had I/we found these problems to be more annoying that the helpful staff at the Smyth would have addressed them quickly; we were too busy enjoying NYC to be phoning in complaint calls to the front desk.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room wa awesome and comfortable.
Modern features like iPod dock, latest tv, modern stylish bathroom, large windows
I asked if the hotel had any rooms with a bathtub. They made sure to give me the one room that had one. The staff and door men were really nice and helpful. The hotel lobby was under construction. While I didn't mind not being able to have a working restaurant or bar in my hotel, I did mind that the construction began at 7 am. The pounding and jack-hammering woke me up. They should at the very least wait until 9 am. It made me rush out the door rather than relax before starting my day. On my last day (after being woken up by the construction noise ) I threw on my clothes and just left. I requested to the staff I should be compensated. My phone didn't work very well in the hotel. I found myself going up and down the elevator to go outside to use it. Why charge $15 a day for Wifi? I also had trouble using the elevator cards. 5 and 6 times before the little green light came on so I could push my floor button.
The proximity to our friends 10 minutes away and the easy walk to Chinatown, great restaurants as well as the subway.I liked the modern decor and the ability to open the windows as well. We were offered a 50% discount to stay over on Sunday night. We were not there long enough!
Attentiveness and responsiveness of staff, the room, which was a joy to in which to spend time, and the quality of service throughout the stay. I'm always anxious at Smyth about having a room with sufficient peace and quiet that I can enjoy my stay, but this time I had a room on Floor 8 that was not close to the lift - very relaxing.
The rate was great for NY. Room was clean and the bellman are always helpful. The bathrooms in the lobby are disgusting. If you're having a drink down there you have to constantly go up to your room to use the restroom since the others are so dirty and smell like urine. The concierge was not helpful. When asking for recommendations to restaurants, he would only direct us to their restaurant in the 3rd floor. Also asked him about the Book of Mormon show, he called and tickets were over 325 ea. We had to talk to other a couple others in the hotel who gave us recommendations and we got tickets for a little over 130 ea. Seems lazy or completely unaware - probably shouldn't be the concierge.
Loved everything from staff to the fresh new high class bed sheets 55 dollars a day to park, moved 1 bottle of champagne in the fridge and was charged 20 dollars for it, due to the sensors on the bottles, called front desk and they removed it from the bill with no issue though.
Location was what we liked and felt vary safe at all times. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortably. The parking was a great convenince but seamed pricey when you add it to the room cost. Maby price it per visit vs per night.
They easily accommodated all of my requests and the staff was delightful in all of their interactions. Beyond that, the hotels looks nice, has clean facilities and has a great location next to the One World Trade Center/Freedom Tower, as well as connections to a variety of subway lines. Very convenient.
Baggage check & location
Clean, beautiful view, attentive staff 20min cab ride to uptown
Great view, clean rooms, very attentive bellhop and staff. An air conditioning unit that was never able to reach the desired temp and a rattle from the unit itself all night long.
Beautiful hotel. The room was clean, nice and had an amazing view of the Freedom tower! Well worth the money
We had a good experience at the hotel. Staff was nice and rooms were very clean. Only minor negatives: Room service food, particularly breakfast, isn't really that good, which forced us to start going out for breakfast ( 3 out of 5 stars). However no worries because it's NYC so there is plenty of food around. Location isn't the greatest, but it's close enough ( 4 out of 5 starts). The 9/11 memorial is right across the street, which is convenient, but other than that, you'll generally be taxiing or ubering everywhere. My boyfriend forgot his keys and didn't realize until we were back in DC. The great news is that the housekeeper did turn in the keys, but the guy in the list and find area was being a dick, asking him the most ridiculous questions... We still haven't received the keys either. Hopefully they actually send them.
The price dropped significantly, and I was refused a prove match refund through the company I booked with via kayak. I will never book through them again.
fast elevators, clean rooms, super quiet, great pool, big windows, nice/spacious lobby, subway entrance out front to ACE and R. Comfortable beds/pillows/linens
Location and value were superb! Nothing
clean well appointed room with great view and great price
I liked the value of this hotel, as finding a decent hotel at an affordable rate is difficult in Manhattan. The room was small but efficiently laid out. On the 20th floor in the restaurant, one can get a great view of the 9/11 Memorial from atop. Breakfast is not included in stay, so beware as the breakfast buffet and a cup of tea came out to $24. Since New York is full of great restaurants and places to grab brunch, I always prefer to grab a tasty bite elsewhere.
Great view of the World Trade Center. Restaurant food was good. Breakfast options were limited and exactly the same everyday
Style and cleanliness of hotel good. Room is small, but not unreasonably so. Construction around the site made access less trhan ideal.
that we had to leave
The convenient location next to 911 Memorial Museum and great view from rootop. Old and outdated, worn out pillows, sheets, and ammenitis.
The location, the amenities, the staff, and the rate ... everything about this hotel was spectacular. I suggest everyone at least take a look at the restaurant that overlooks the 9/11 memorial and the rooftop deck. The staff at 10pm and at 10am were bubbly and personable but most importantly, they were extremely helpful. I can't say enough nice things about this property. The only negative that I could possibly mention is the water pressure wasn't as strong as I like. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
Ice cold filtered water and plastic bottles to fill, free of charge, on every floor - a lovely amenity in NYC in July. Room was luxe and comfortable, affordable by NYC standards, but there are signs that maintenance is being deferred - poorly patched ceilings and window seals, sluggish drains, housekeeping giving the once-over instead of a real cleaning. This was our second stay, but it was nicer last year. I hope it will be back on the upswing again next year! Better housekeeping and maintenance required - it's far from filthy and broken-down, but as an experienced traveler, I can see signs that things are being given a lick and a promise instead of the required cleaning and maintenance. My son's white socks were BLACK on the soles from walking around the carpeted room.
Great price and good view from the 17th floor
Overall, our stay was short but sweet- the view from the restaurant is amazing, which can only be beat by the sun terrace! Absolutely breathtaking
The location was great. The room was adorable. The staff was very freindly and courteous
We picked the hotel because of its price and location. Very nice design, clever use of space. We had a handicap accessible room and it worked great.
Location was best for business. Location
Hotel was good but service not what was expected delay in releasing car from valet parking Bad customer service
It was convenient in Manhattan, and the staff was very helpful. A little noisy with the construction nearby of the new Freedom Tower
Clean nice hotel near ground zero. Subway sations near as well as some restaurants. A suite was not very large, but comfortable for four people. A special price was very resonable for quality of hotel and service. Construction noise may disturb in some rooms, not a problem for us. A suite was booked for four people, but towels etc. only for three. After complaint an extra was gotten, but same problem next day.
Modern and clean. Very secure.
Quiet environment like being at home with excellent service. Close to business excellent positioning Nothing
The hotel was clean , the room was just the right size. The services provided are very good (free internet access, with yourown pc in your bedroom, or in the pc room, where you can print out your check-in on-line; free water provided; gym facilities). The hotel is in the Financial district, very close to the subway station, so in 15 minutes you can be at Time Square). The staff was helpful. I found a little hole in the bed-sheet, but I believe that was just something that can happen once in a while. Compared to many other hotels in NY the World Center had a reasonable price, but still I found it quite expensive...250 Dollars for just one night (it was the night of the Marathon though, so prices were quite high everywhere)! I guess that's just NY!
The hotel restaurant was brilliant. The location for Downtown exploration was amazing. Fantastic value for money. The was no pan for the hob in the room.
Clean rooms, the staff was incredibly helpful and very friendly (gave us an upgrade, too!), great price, rooftop restaurant/bar had great views and a nice happy hour. There is a lot of construction near Ground Zero which can make it a little noisy during weekdays, but obviously that's not their fault and it really wasn't anything terrible. And over the weekend there was no noise at all.
subway closed price
awesome location, convenient restaurant downstairs, and a great staff. i didn't like my corner room. It was very hard to get into. Also the tv would stop working every 15 minutes and took a while to fix everytime. Then the thermostat would reset itself to 72 every couple of hours
Considering it was the marathon weekend we were able to get a room here. Very clean. Beds were small and not that comfortable. But for NYC it was bigger than I have seen
Was easy to get there, since it was a weekend we parked on the street without a problem and as we marked in the preferences we wanted a room with a view they gave us a a room looking at the Hudson River.
Not much You pay additional for everything except a basic bed. The staff has a negative attitude that borders on rude. The elevator service is very slow.
Everyone was helpful, and gave great suggesstions. The room was large enough for the 4 of us, not always the case in NYC, clean and comfortable. We were very happy with the location and the BLT restaurant was very good.
Nothing ,,,tuelly nothing in this hotel ,,,,its dirty ,old , not well located im sorry nothing i liked I had bed bugs at W downtown , i had to go to the doctor , i was red hittchy and full of spots . When i complaigned to the manager he told me i was wrong they have no bed buggs , they did a pedt control . So my doctor asked for a biopsy that came positive . Shame and they did not want to refund my 3 night this place is terrible , and i had a terrible stay .
Soap Feels like walking thru a discoteque during daytime, sad vibe.
Nice bathrooms. Room small but adequate.
Has a nice boutique-ish vibe. Good music on the 5th floor lobby. Great location. Excellent staff. The rooms were large, clean and quite modern. No on-premise restaurant but not a biggie - plenty of good restaurants around.
Only the beds. Small bathroom. Small room. Low beds. Small TV. No proper lobby. Had reserved and paid for a King size bed but upon checkin was told there only two full sized beds left. Almost no apology. No trying to make up for it with a credit or free movie etc. Very matter of fact. Wasn't expecting that from W brand.
Location, next to the subway and Brooklyn Bridge. Staff, very friendly and welcoming. My room, a loft, was creative. Great historic pics on the walls. Fitness Center. Access to computers. Only that I took too much time booking it and the price on my website went up a little, but that's my doing.
The hotel was really clean and met the basic points which was a big plus (especially after hearing that other hotels in the city contain cockroaches...). Also, the location was decent and close to the subway so it was really easy to get around in the city. The staff was also friendly and I liked how there were computers in the lobby that the guests could use. The rooms are tiny! I felt like I was back in the college dorm rooms. For the rate of the room, I was expecting bigger rooms. Personally, I thought the value of the room wasn't there for what we paid but the rooms were decent and if you're in the City, I suppose all the rooms are going to be smaller and more expensive.
it was close to everywhere in the city the staff is very friendly and helpful the hotel small and cozy
We were hosting a conference at a nearby bank, which was only four blocks from the hotel. Therefore, it was very convenient business-wise.
The location was wonderful, right next to the A and C and 1, 2, 3 lines. All less than a block from the hotel. The rooms were cozy w/ great room temperature control. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Starbucks right next to hotel, which was great because they didn't have coffee or fridges in the rooms. The hotel was doing construction on the floors below us and they started hammering, drilling, and sawing very early, so sleeping in on vacation was impossible. What really annoyed me was while checking out the guy ahead of me who was also checking out made a big stink about the noise and he was comped a night. I complained and only got any apology. Perhaps, if I was not a young Hispanic woman, but a rich looking white dude I would have gotten comped too. The water temperature was hard to control as it was either frigid or scalding.
the location was perfect for my needs The staff was way too rude..particularly the maintenance guy. BTW who ever needed a maintenance person in a hotel. Those rooms are supposed to be already perfect. At first, they sent me to a room in which I had to use stairs to get to my bed and my head would bump against the ceiling when I reached the top. Since the AC was located at the bottom of the room and fan not directly on top of the bed, it felt really hot upstairs. When I complained that this room didn't look anywhere close to what I saw in the pictures, at first they said all rooms are booked. Then, they finally relented after I pushed more. The other room was small in size but once again was hot and I had to deal with the same maintenance guy. All night, the place was very noisy with people going in and out, the doors seemed to be clanging all night.
Location, location, location. Room was small, but average sized for the area; good value. Bathroom could use a remodel.
Clean, convenient, quiet Interior, reasonable price for the location. Tiny room, tiny bathroom, antique elevator, long hallway with turns and stairs, loud 4 a.m. garbage trucks.
It's modern, clean, great location!!! If you are a family of 4 or less is great! We are a family of 5. The room is too small, we didn't have space for an extra bed so one of us had to sleep on the floor... And there's no space for bags, luggage or anything extra...
Air conditioner undersized and loud.
Location, lication, location...and price for NYC. Good bed and a clean washroom with nice soaps and shampoo. Big stain on carpet, noisy window air con unit.
