Contras: "For that size of airplane basing on the fact that it was an international flight not having a USB port or any power source by the seats it’s ridiculous. The boarding process was a nightmare, very disorganized the crew members starting boarding group by group just using ONE of the two entrances available because of it the line to board the plan occupied almost 2 boarding gates. I couldn’t reclaim my seat because it was broke, the quality of the food was very mediocre, crew members attitude were upsetting... uncaring and ignoring passengers call. Another filthy plain ... I had 4 flights with avianca between 2 International fights and 2 national connections, all flights were terrible! The worse part is I probably could’ve flight more comfortable for less money or at least get what I paid for."

Contras: "On Feb 26th we had a flight leaving Bogota back to NYC, and at the gate, we found out our flight would not be operated by Avianca, but by a Spanish carrier called WAMOS. Wamos airlines does not offer in-flight entertainment. It offers an app that you can download on your mobile device prior the flight, even though there are no plugs inside the plane and no fully reclining seats. This change is being caused by an ongoing strike action by some of their own pilots and this has been regarded with absolute no consideration from Avianca to its costumers. At the airport we talked to 3 different customer services employees, all giving us different versions of the story and no clear answers. One employee told us that we MAY have a possibility of reimbursement and another one that we could stay in a hotel and catch another flight the next day (which was not an option for us) There was no advance warning about this change to me (not even during check-in) Found out later some passengers gotten an email informing about this change, but not all of them. Staff didn't know anything about this flight. The gate staff only informed passengers of the change, after I complained, and kept insisting that the airplanes were the same, when clearly it was not the same quality, in amenities and service on board. There were big delays and a mess with seat assignments. Many customers traveling together with separated seats and of course, delays in departure caused by the mess that Avianca caused. Just to be clear. what Avianca is doing is stealing the money that we paid for a specific flight, to voluntary change us to a much less inferior flight, with absolutely no consideration and no compensations."

Contras: "After all these connecting flights especially after being delayed in Cali, the flight in Bogota was delayed and the Avianca crew did not announce it. After realizing it was time for boarding according to the time that I needed to be at the gate from my ticket, that's when people were realizing there was an issue. Once I got to the podium and handed my tickets the staff handed a voucher. There wasn't a hello, we're sorry for the inconvenience or the reason why the flight was delayed 2 hours. I had to ask them why what happened, what is the voucher for, how does it work, what time we were expected to be at the gate. The staff made everyone aware that we needed to be at the gate at 4pm so we can depart at 445pm. The food was okay and the staff looked a little annoyed when serving drinks. I shouldn't say all of the crew but from the back half of the plane the staff looked annoyed if not bothered. Didn't get to NYC until 12am, but had to wait on the runway for an additional 20 minutes. Again no communication on what was going on."
Contras: "Or initial flight was delayed by 2 hours. This meant we missed our connecting flight in Columbia. The airline booked us on a connection that meant a 10 hour layover in Columbia. No help no options nothing. Terrible service. There was another carrier leaving at a time that would have helped us but we weren't able to have this option."

What is exactly am I supposed to do in Bogota, Columbia for an unexpected additional 24 hours? I had no money, and my credit card wouldn't work there. This was the worst airline experience in my life. Absolutely horrible. I will never travel with Avianca again. Avianca staff spoke hardly any English, so I couldn't hardly communicate with them either. Horrible."

Contras: "I dont know WHY Delta changed my flight with ALIITALIA, but, DON'T DO IT DELTA. The check in process took an hour, not talking about the line, the ACTUAL checkin at the counter. I couldn't complete my web checkin at the AliItalia web site. Landed in JFK, still sucks as an airport, nobody helps, nobody explains anything, very poor signs and instructions, Global Entry kiosk are hard to spot. My connection ticket didn't have the TSA/PRECHECK legend, went to AliItalia counter, the lady at AliItalia barely said anything when I asked for help with that, her immediate answer was to disengage and sent me to another terminal "to talk to Delta". She didn't explain or didn't want to give an explanation until I started to act as an already 9hr30min flight frustrated customer in a very old, very poor plane with poor food service. Again, I bought an over $1,000 ticket with DELTA, NOT ALIITALIA, if Delta send people with their "partners" at least make sure that they are taken care of properly."
Prós: "Very kind associate working at the gate. She helped me obtain my seat assignment and was a pleasure to speak with. Her happiness was contagious (even at 6am!). She put me at ease."
Contras: "The last travelers in boarding line (including myself) had to check their carry on luggage because “there was no more room in the overhead compartments”. However, while I was walking to my seat, I saw ample storage space as well as suitcases that were laying horizontally or flat and could easily have been adjusted to create even more space. Given that most people pack their most valuable items in their carry on bags (as well as anything fragile), I was a bit uneasy checking mine. The associate who helped check my bag on the tarmac was kind. I was grateful that my luggage had a hard shell case."

Contras: "The flight attendants were uniformly rude and nasty to passengers from start to finish. As I boarded, I asked for a piece of art to be stored in the wardrobe compartment. This was treated as an inconvenience. During and after boarding, flight attendants addressed passengers rudely when encouraging them to take their seats in a timely fashion. Later, when my seat mate politely asked a FA to repeat the food options, she asked, "Excuse me?" several times and seemed very irritated to have to repeat the choices for him. Also, near the end of the flight, a pillow was on the ground and a FA asked those seated in my row to pick it up. We responded that it wasn't ours and she said something to the effect of, "Oh yeah? So how did it get there?" (Maybe because someone else dropped it and we didn't notice?) The FAs seemed irritated to serve passengers at all. Each time they passed through for beverage or meal service, I felt like I was imposing on them. I have never witnessed anything quite like it. Makes me wonder why they were all so upset and and felt it appropriate to speak and act disrespectfully toward customers. (Delta, do you have any insights?) I hope they all got a good night's rest after that haul."

Long, unorganized boarding process. Attendants just allowed everyone to gather in front of the doors so rude passengers pushed their way to the front and cut the "line." No tvs in the seats. I am vegetarian and was not given a vegetarian option! Very Inconsiderate of this airline. Even worse, the flight attendant basically told me that it was my fault because I didn't ask for one in advance. Extremely poor customer service! Had I been asked, I would have requested a vegetarian meal but I did not see that option when booking."

Contras: "The tickets we paid for back in August of 2017 were bought for a direct flight. When checking in for our flight back to JFK on March 18th, they told us there were no seats available. They then put us on a connecting through Orlando, all of us had to sit separately now. We had to each spent money we did not intend to use for this vacation on food since our day was well extended beyond expected and parking fees for keeping our car at JFK longer. Once arrived in Orlando, two out of the four of us missed our flight to JFK because they gave us the wrong boarding passes and because we are students in college, lost multiple hours of studying tonight. We had to then work with Delta who was kind enough to find us a flight multiple hours later. Like said before, this split our group up and caused multiple difficulties. We will never fly Copa again. They believe a $400 Copa airlines voucher is justifiable for what happened but it is not. I’ll never fly with them again for this inconvenience so a voucher doesn’t do anything."
Contras: "There was a second security check right at the gate, which we were not warned about at all. I had bought a bottle of liquor in Colombia and they would not let me get on the plane to NYC with it. Luckily I had a large shopping bag that I got from the gift shop in Colombia, so I was able to dump everything that was in my nylon tote into that shopping bag and they haphazardly wrapped my bottle in one of my sweaters and checked my tote. The employees said this was a new policy in Panama City, but many other travelers were confused. Passengers should be warned!"

She paid $10 for 2 bottles of water at the stand just before the gate and when she tried to come in again they did not allow her to go through... really a ridiculous situation!"
Contras: "Not only were we not told in advance that we'd have to go through security again in order to sit in the gate area, but we weren't allowed to bring in beverages we bought right next to the gate and there was no bathroom in the area we were being held before we were boarded. You'd have to go through security again. Also, the security guard accused my tall, black, injured, elderly father of being suspicious because he was sweating in spite of the fact that she wouldn't let him drink water unless he left the gate area even though he was injured. Never flying Copa again and never going to Panama again, not even for a layover."
Prós: "Arrived at the gate about 1 hour before departure due to heavy traffic. Attendant was pleasant and did a quick checkin."
Contras: "When you select the meal options in advance through the Copa Airlines site the phrasing of those ptions is not very clear and I was stuck with a choice I didn’t want (“meal with fruits” - it was pretty confusing in English or Spanish - while I assumed perhaps the dessert items would be substituted with fruit, instead they brought me a pretty mediocre fruit platter). They said there was no way to change this. Copa airlines personnel at Panama airport actually were kind of rude about it."

Even though, I understood it was a detail that simply they did not control correctly, I requested to two flight attendants to please fix the problem for me, but I was totally ignored by both. When I told them a second time, they said to me there was nothing they can do. But coincidencially, right after I was told, he sat one passanger whom have not seat assigned, right in front of me on the emergency exit. The attendant said minors cant go there which is true, but I would have seated there, and my daughter on the sit that I was which was right behind me. That plus another rude encounter with one of the flight attendants when I was getting into the plane made of my experience with Copa Airlines my first and only trip with them. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE."

As a result, we had to exit the secured area in Rio to go check in manually again for our connection and then go through security and customs again."

Contras: "Flight was first delayed 1 hour then jumped to 3 more hours. Gate was constantly changing so we relaxed at a nearby gate. Never heard a boarding call. Then there's a security check right before you get on the plane so we have to throw away bottles of water that were bought in the terminal after passing initial security. Ridiculous!! How are we to keep hydrated on a 10 hour flight without being able to bring water on the plane?? The flight attendants should, at least, come around with cups of water. Service on LAN was excellent 10 years ago but has deteriorated when it changed to LATAM."

Contras: "seats are the worst I had in 40 years of flying. Very narrow, hard and uncomfortable seats. The leg space was fine, but the seats are terrible. I flew inside Peru with Latam and they were great. I doubt I will use Latam for another international flight."
Contras: "I needed to change my flight because of a death in the family. To change my flight was more expensive than the initial ticket itself. That is ridiculous. You should not do that to people. There should be a $300 change fee and that's it. At most. The entertainment would be good if I could hear it - but I couldn't. The sound was terrible. Uncomfortable seats. Barely slept. Overal terrible experience. Also turn on the damn entertainment while we are waiting on the tarmac - why wait until we are in the air? Almost every other airline - all the good ones - Emirates, Lufthansa, and other quality airlines - will let you access the in flight entertainment as soon as you sit. But the change cost of the ticket was the most offensive thing. I feel robbed, in a time of tragedy."

Explanation was they had technical problems with original plane and they had to replace it with smaller one and everybody else used online checkin in last 48 hours...Everybody else used online checkin?! Is that the rule? Last 48 h of my trip in Peru i did not have internet access, but if it's the only way to get your seat, you paid for months in advance, then I would find some solution. At the end, staying persistent in our request,we were on the scheduled flight (some "miracle" happened and we got 2 seats, next to each other, as same as couple from counter next to us)"
Prós: "were rescheduled for the flight Lima La2800. Scheduled departure 8.40a.m. Delay 2 hours - aircraft maintenance problem!? Still sitting in the plane in Lima."
Prós: "Flight schedule, inflight service and food in couch was amazingly the best I had in a long time. The entertainment was delightful. The telephone service for questions, while in Peru, was terrible. My flight reservation number was changed and I needed to talk to someone. I had to call the States help line instead of the local number which had a non working automated answering menu."
Contras: "The flight at first had a 3 HOUR delay do to a "mechanical breakdown". We were told that they were going to bring another airplane from Rio de Janeiro. After the 3 hours passed they were only announcing in Portuguese to board the original plane. They never changed planes or provided a clear explanation to the passengers. Many of us refused to board. This was one of the worse experiences I have ever had. The staff was disrespectful and would not help us. We ended up taking another flight until the following night!!"

They lost my customs paper, and then proceeded to accuse me of "selling it"--They took it after I passed through customs initially and if they put it back in passport after they threw them all in plastic bags- god knows where it is, or who's hands it was in who may have took it. They would not give us food vouchers, or water. They couldn't figure out how to get buses and hotel rooms for people- basic simple business skills-- add number of passengers going to hotel, calculate number of seats per bus and that will get you the number of buses needed--- they couldn't figure that out. I will call and give more detail, I promise."

Contras: "The seats were the smallest seats I've ever say in and I felt claustrophobic. Checking into this flight was a disaster and impossible. Tam would redirect me to Tam airlines and Lan would redirect me to Lan. The Lan customer service was unable to get into the Tam airlines flight so we emded up with the most awful chairs in the airline. I wish they would fix their website so checkin isn't as frustrating as it was for me. I understand the airlines merged but if each airline is unable to access eachothers flight then how exactly did you merge? ALSO when we got off the first flighy to connect in this one they gave us no explanation until 20min later to where we should commect to this flight. They MADE US WALK A 20min WALK TO ANOTHER TERMINAL WITH ALL OUR BAGS. It was awful. If your gonna need people to walk to another terminal the least you can do is supply a shuttle."

Contras: "I didn't have a wi-fi access in the plane, it would have been amazing and great to comunicate with family and friends that my flight was little delayed due to air traffic. The last thing I didn't like was the super delayed luggage delivery, because I had no energy to wait an appalling 40 minutes after a long flight."

Have to assume the distance between seat and seatback ahead is now a safety issue should an emergency evac. be necessary. Had to argue over an imposed seat change despite holding a 2 hour old agent issued boarding pass. Gate agent plainly lied in claiming an equipment change was making it necessary. At start of trip (1/14), not allowed to board connection and suffered an additional 5hr. layover delay due to baggage transfer problem. No compensation of any type graciously offered for any of the inconveniences."

Contras: "The servers were a bit rude--they spilled juice on me--but, to be fair, I was failing to speak spanish, which is also very rude. The only tough thing about this flight was that we changed gates about 4 times, then got switched to a very distant gate at the ass-end of the terminal (literally, the lights were flickering. It was eerie.) THEN we had to take a bus out onto the tarmack to get onto the plane. But that's a small inconvenience considering we travelled from Mexico City to JFK in like 5 hours."

Contras: "I had purchased a ticket to fly from Puerto Escondido to Mexico City on Thursday, November 24. When I arrived at the airport, I came to an airport that was "shutdown". According to a few people I spoke to, it was because of a protest. I was not emailed or notified that I was wasting my time and money trying getting to an airport that wasn't flying out any planes that day. I was very distraught and disappointed because I am a foreigner and there was no representative front the airport or airline that this was happening and what's are the next steps I should take to get on the next plane back to United States. I spent hours and hours calling Aeromar about rebooking my flight for tomorrow so I can get out of this city. It was a nightmare on the phone because it was like the employees were trained not to help. I was told it wasn't their fault, and I need to call aero Mexico to get this straightened out. Not one employee from the many I spoke to consistently throughout the day tried to rebook my flight. They wanted me to pay for another flight which is absolutely ridiculous. I missed my flight because of some protest, something not in my control, and i kept being told too bad. I did not get offfere one solution by your staff. I was left to figure what I was going to do by myself. I didn't leave Puerto Escondido until 24 hours after I was suppose to and it was not by the help of your staff. Because of this, I will highly consider not buying tickets from this airline of their is any other option because it was an awful experience. One of He aero Mexico employees told me to stop acting childish because I was upset about missing my flight for reasons i didn't control. The customer service for aero Mexico was worse then aeromar. They kept blaming aero mar and kept saying they need to figure everything out, yet these two airline work together. Aero Mexico is the one that helps get the flight to other smaller cities. All around I had a miserable day and not one person I called from aero Mexico, like aero mar helped me or offered a solution."
Contras: "Everything was fine and our luggage went straight Through to New York."
Prós: "Aeromexico is the worst airline ever!!! I will never fly with this airline ever again! They made me pay another flight to get back home because of a mistake from one of their staff!! They are so incompetent and they take advantage of the fact that we have to go home..... so disappointed!!"
Prós: "I enjoyed that my kids had a great movie selection and food."
Contras: "I absolutely found it ridiculous how they board the plane. They did it both times coming and going. They didn't call anyone by zone they just allowed anyone to board at any time so I was in row 9 and people in row 20 boarded before me. What sense did that make."
Prós: "Our flight was delayed but we got to our destination early. Lots of turbulance but the pilot flew in such a way that you barely felt it."
Contras: "Took 2 hours for the bags from our plane to get to the belt. Landed at 10:30pm and didnt get our luggage until about 12:45. There was 2 planes that landed right after us and all their baggage was on the belt within 10 minute!"
