On my short flight from Basel to Amsterdam, a young French speaking girl was concerned about how to manage getting to her next gate. The flight attendants talked to her and arranged for someone to take her there. On my longer flight from Amsterdam to New York City, there was a customer who was in distress about missing a previous flight and not making it to her connecting flight in New York. One of the flight attendants reassured her until she stopped crying and calmed down. That same flight attendant was always so positive and cheerful in all she did. The rest of the crew was top notch. This was my best experience flying in such a long time. Well done, KLM crews of flights 1984 and 0645 on July 10!"

We were told that if there weren't seats available, they'd pay for us to get to another airport to fly out, which would have meant a huge delay on the only time off we'd get together this year and have to rearrange our pre-booked and pre-paid living arrangements for the week. All because there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the need to check in online before hand. You'd think if someone checked in at the airport, that would be more of a guarantee that they'd be flying with you that day, but apparently not. Definitely not impressed or happy with this part of the KLM experience. This is the only company that we've had this problem with, they should make it clearer that it is essential to check in online."

Also expect to pay a bit more for decent seat assignments. My default seat assignment was at the very back of the plane, right against the rear bulkhead where seats often can't recline. So, another $60 to move elsewhere."

I had to go over to the international line to drop my luggage and didn't have to get in line once again. The crew was very nice and I was impressed that we received a meal for a 4 hour flight. Although I understand it was considered an international flight, I wasn't expecting a full blown meal. SUPER GREAT!"

Contras: "My American partner's passport expires 2 months after our return to the US. Unfortunately, the French issued a year ago the following rule: to enter France, the foreign passport must not expire at least 3 months after the return date. British Airways let us fly to London, explaining this to us, how it would be on us if there were problems further down, and that we would have to get our luggage in London. We chose to fly thinking it would be OK, we had listened to an online person who had had the same problem and the French later told him they would have let him in, also I am myself a dual citizen of France and the US, plus I am autistic, an invisible disability (in my case) that makes it impossible for me to travel alone. I usually do not even say it since not much is understood -by those who do not have it- on how to accommodate it However in London BA did not allow my partner to go on. Due to the fact yesterday was Easter Monday, the American consulate in London was closed. We have spent the night in a nearby motel and now, the next day, I am waiting alone back at the airport with our 2 large suitcases while my partner is at the American consulate. We are poor, do not have phone, currency or charger for England, and I do not do well with stress, so it is difficult. Now we cannot easily reach one another. We hope to be able to fly on a standby basis (that's what BA told us we could hopefully do) later today. Sorry for this long letter, I hope it does not bore whoever reads it (if it is even read :). Prós: "Love BA airlines. Just be on time get on the plane and they will get you to where you want to go."

Contras: "My seat did not recline at all. When notifying the flight attendants during the meal/beverage service, they said they would note down my seat. However, nobody ever gave me any assurances that they would really inform maintenance to resolve the problem. Half way through the flight, my screen froze. Nothing would start it up again. After waking up hours later, I informed the flight attendant and she was able to reset/restart my screen individually. Everything worked perfectly afterwards"

Contras: "The landing announcement by the female Flight Attendant was inaudible (too close to the microphone?), and very uninspiring especially for tourists who were landing in wonderful Paris(!!!!!!!) from a 20-hour travel day. Wow."
Prós: "Cabin crew always professional. The cabin was fresh and new."
Contras: "the leg room In club Europe is appalling. No premium feel at all."
Contras: "British Airways didn't have my leg of this flight (London to Paris) as part of original checkin from Austin to London. As a result I stood in Customer relations line for 90 minutes, missed my flight, and was separated from other member in my travel party who didn't experience same problem and we were both on same booking confirmation"
Contras: "Lost my luggage and failed to deliver my luggage on time. I had to go out of my way to buy everything again."

Contras: "The food. Portions were made for a child. Nasty tasting. The ideal was throw gravy on it and it will taste alright. There's no effort at all. Asked stewardness. Twice for water and never got it."

Contras: "booked British Airways, got American Airlines. I didnt want American airlines. I would have booked American Airlines if I wanted American airways. there was no indication that the flight would be operated by any other than British air until I got to the check counter at British airways, and they sent me to the excruciatingly long check in line for American."
Prós: "That it got to my destination, eventually."
Contras: "The co-flight wasn't made clear to me. This was an American Airlines flight as is my return. Beyond the brand and gate confusion that resulted from this, the flight was delayed a couple hours and the plane looked like it hadn't been refurbished since the 70s."
Prós: "The customer service people were very helpful after we missed our flight but it would have been better if they were proactive in helping passengers who had limited time to get to their transfer gates."
Contras: "Reactive rather than proactive staff ... They should have informed us of a fast track lane if there were any but too many were standing around not helping. But the system was terrible ... Maybe it was just that particular day."
Contras: "The seats have zero leg room, it was quite uncomfortable."
Prós: "The food and service was good. The seats in coach were uncomfortable and the entertainment was subar as there were only 8 or so movies no being recent release"

Contras: "I booked a british airways flight and found myself boarding a partner company plane of American Airline with not personal screens, with a very chaotic boarding and had a 40 minute delay."

Contras: "Bought British Air tickets, got their partner airline American Air flight instead and didn't know of this switch until after purchase. Very rude! Crappy old plane, departed late, crappy food, mediocre service. I wanted British Air specifically as they are good in these areas."
Prós: "For a reasonably priced flight the comfort and free drink/snack were above average and very much appreciated."
Contras: "BA's online check in let them down though; the server kept crashing. They also wanted to charge £15 to pick one's seat, even at point of check in, a tacky ploy to pad profits. Forgiven on this instance as the flight was only 50 min, but would make me think twice for any longer distances."

Prós: "Once again, my minor child (5 years old) was not seated with me. I don’t understand. Her birthday is listed with her ticket. Why ask the age of children under 11 if they’ll be seated with strangers? Moreover, we were loaded onto the plane from both ends, irrespective of our seats, so there was mass confusion as two sets of passengers were crossing over each other, looking for seats. Using hand signals to communicate, as it was an international flight with passengers speaking several languages. The crew stood at the entrances to the plane, watching."

Contras: "I am an American who flew roundtrip Chicago - Madrid. We (family of 3) still haven't received our lost luggage from 2 weeks ago. When we checked in at Madrid, one staff told us to ask about the luggage downstairs at the luggage retrieval, which we are not allowed into. I came back and another staff woman told us to immediately go through immigration, because it takes so long to get through. Since our luggage appears to be lost for good, we will never take Iberia again. Madrid airport is a nightmare! We arrived at Madrid airport 2 hr 20 min. before our flight. Because the distance from the check-in counter to the plane is unbelievably far, and we all have to wait in very long lines, and then take multiple trains, escalators, and finally a bus, and U.S. passengers have their passports checked twice in long lines, we got on to the plane barely in time, on "last call" 30 min. before it took off. We will never fly through Madrid again! On any other trip from Spain overseas, we will choose some other city in Spain to leave from."
Prós: "Emergency exit seats. Very narrow though."
Contras: "I don't know what they served us. I wouldn't call that food. Breakfast was even more depressing than dinner. No entertainment system, except those collective screens – everybody needs to watch the same movie. Staff was rude and flight was 2 and half hours LATE."

Britisk airways cancelled our return transatlantic flight LGW to JFK and the Iberia (one world) representative Alicante airport could not help us getting on another flight we now are landing in LGW and have to transfer to LHR at iour own expense and are getting to J FK almost 4 hour later than scheduled...spenrt over 40 minutes on phone with British airways at international cell phone rates which also cost us a fortune"
Prós: "Overall everything was fine. AA airport crew in St. Louis was amazing helping me with a mistake in communication"
Contras: "My flight itinerary was changed I received no notification of this change. Lost my flight. AA airport crew saved the day"

Prós: "Missed flight as scheduled changed forward by half an hour and re-organising another flight was difficult. Had to fly from another airport in Spain and transfer was without assistance. Staff did a good job at sorting a solution. The return home on BA was excellent and very efficient."

Contras: "Boarding was a little confusing. No overhead signs to indicate boarding groups. Announcements were hard to hear. Stewards were hard to contact mid-flight to ask for water to drink. A long flight, and it would have been nice to have more available."

Yet, I was in Dallas from 3pm until 8:30pm with my 3 year old who was exhausted and hungry. I guess it was not worth paying more for a short connection."

Prós: "My family (four of us) flew FinnAir (Iberia) to Madrid and back and found the service outstanding. The flight crews were top notch, the takeoff and landings were smooth and even, as were both flights, the food was fine, the entertainment was great, and the seats were roomy and comfortable. Overall, a superior experience to any U.S. airline I have ever flown. I would fly them again any time. Five stars."
Contras: "On the return flight from Madrid, we ended up having to board the plane from the tarmac, which was interesting. I can remember decades ago when that was done, but it was a first for us. We checked our luggage, so it was no problem for us, but some passengers had to lug big carry-on suitcases up those staircases. I'm not sure what passengers with disabilities had to do to board. I don't think it was the airline's fault, but it was a little out-of-the ordinary."
Prós: "The organization, the food, the beverages the stewardesses all were pretty bad, even the flight was late the boarding process was bad, I would not use them again."

Contras: "I paid for an assigned seat months before the flight. I was not given my assigned seat because I was told it was in business class. I filed a claim and want a refund."
