Contras: "Movies were pretty much still the same as 10 weeks ago. Not possible to sleep in the seat in premium economy right by the toilets and galley. Constant door clattering and toilet flushing. In other cabins the noise wasn't as bad, probably better insulated?"
Prós: "From the food (dinner and lunch), to the spacious seats, to the impressive beverage selection, there is little I would change. The small touches, including coming through the cabin regularly with delicious green tea, made this a wonderful flight."

Contras: "The boarding process was a joke. No seat assignments until the last second. The front desk personnel would not help us with a seat assignment and said they were “working on it”. I sat down with my wife in the waiting area and observed the front desk personnel joking around with each other for the next 45 minutes before the flight. Very unprofessional and not helpful. Not a good way to represent your airline."

Contras: "Flight was diverted to another airport and when we finally got to Tokyo, the next flight's gate had closed even though it didn't leave for another two hours. We had to wait in a huge line to get rebooked and it was clear the Japan Airlines employees did not know what they were doing. Put me on a flight next day and couldn't even provide hotels for us (gave us $100 to find our own which was near impossible at that time). I had to sleep in a sleeping bag in the airport overnight by myself."
Prós: "food was great movies are updated flight attendants are professional and courteous"
Prós: "Great vacation"
Prós: "Plenty of leg room, which as a tall person I truly appreciate. They give you slippers, blanket, pillow on every (international?) flight. I flew Korea to Japan and Japan to Hawaii. Got free meals on all flights, even my short two hr flight between Korea and Japan. Free booze too! Super nice check in agent as well."
Prós: "Crew members were very nice. All staff members definitely embodied the courteousness and professionalism of Japan. The house slippers were a nice touch and we really enjoyed the large movie selection. The miso soup with meals was great! Overall really enjoyed our flying experience with jal and would fly with them again."
Contras: "The food for our return flight from haneda to Honolulu was definitely subpar compared to the food we had on our first jal Honolulu to Hong Kong flight (layover in narita). Also the plane was not as big and older so we didn't have the touch screen. We were quite impressed on our Honolulu to Hong Kong flight, then were a little let down on our haneda to Honolulu flight."
Prós: "Service and polite staff."
Contras: "Not much space between the seats for my long legs."
Prós: "Everything from start to finish was awesome. The "poor" review by someone complaining about a gluten-free meal is typical of Americans that feel entitled. You are on JAPAN airlines... you do realize the non-gluten-free rice is a staple of the country. It's akin to a Japanese person complaining that there aren't chopsticks provided with the meals on an American Airlines flight. How were the staff supposed to help you mid-air? Mid-flight dock so one special meal can be provided for you? How about this: take some personal responsibility and purchase your own gluten free food for the flight and carry it on. Really... how can one compare the 787 with individual on demand entertainment, roomy seats, full meal service (they'll even bring a meal to you if you were asleep during the normal service), etc... all for no extra charge?!?!? It is simply amazing what JAL (and every Japanese company) sets as a standard for customer service."
Prós: "Very clean. They check the bathroom pretty often un-like AA. Good food."
Contras: "I always prefer this airlines."
Prós: "Japan Airline employees are courteous and gracious. The plane and seats were comfortable, and they offered complimentary food and movies. I would definitely fly this airlines again."
Contras: "There was nothing I didn't like about this airlines."
Prós: "JAL is curteous and professional. They had a flight attendant dedicated to helping me and my infant daughter and provided bassinet and assitant with luggage during the flight. Totally different experience from American carriers like United who treat you like cattle. I hope I can fly with JAL again soon. They are incredible. I was super satisfied."
Prós: "The food was delicious and interesting. Also, the flight crew allowed me to sleep through the rest of the night after dinner service was complete."
Contras: "I don't recall having seen an option for a vegetarian dinner, either when I was booking my ticket or after I was on the plane. Perhaps I just missed that part of the booking process."
Contras: "The movie selection, my electrical outlet didn't work and they took my phone away from me to charge it in economy plus but did not allow me to come with my phone. The food wasn't very good either."
Prós: "great service"
Contras: "difficulty in figuring out how to use the controls on the entertainment remote"
Contras: "Our flight was cancelled and rebooked for 6 hours later. We did not get notification of this change. My gluten free meal was not on the flight that was changed. All the airline reps that I spoke with were very unhelpful."
Prós: "This airline is the most professional I have seen so far. They are extremely accommodating, very helpful, and very attentive. I didn't realize how orderly the Japanese culture is. We took off immediately. The ground crew actually waves bye and bows! No one in the sloppy US does that! They were very professional and juse down right respectful. Food and snacks were served often. Even good coffee!"
