Prós: "GRU to ATL to LEX - all was fine. The plane from GRU to ATL was one of the nicer jets I have ridden in. The ratings above reflect my overall trip of going to Sao Paulo and returning to Lexington, even though the first part had to be re-booked on United."
Contras: "LEX to ATL to GRU did NOT happen because the LEX flights were delayed to the point of missing the ATL connection. While Delta re-booked me on United, my flight arrived 3 hours later than scheduled (so transportation plans had to change), my bag did not successfully move from the Delta flight to the United flight (and was thus delayed in getting to GRU) AND once the bag was received, 4 shirts had been stolen. While a delay/theft claim has been filed with United, this could all have been avoided if the Delta flights had been on time."

Prós: "I liked how accommodating the staff was with seating for my family, as I was traveling with two young children and we weren't seated together. There was more leg room than most other domestic air travel companies I have been on. There was no upgrade charge for every little thing, such as blankets, pillows, etc. We were fed on each flight, and alcoholic beverages were at no additional charge. The exit tax to leave Costa Rica was included in our ticket, which I was not aware of until I was leaving the country. (nice surprise). Over all, most other airline companies in the USA have made changes that improve their bottom line, but they have completely ruined any favorable aspect of traveling with their airline (American Airlines, Frontier, Southwest, Delta, etc). Copa has done a great job of providing great service and cost for travelers. Please do not change your business strategy by removing some of the above mentioned benefits I enjoyed in order to improve your profit margin. It is refreshing to know there are still air carriers out there that retain the service that is hoped for by most travelers. Also, Roxana and her entire flight crew were outstanding. Thank you , I will fly with you anytime I have the chance."

Because we weren't allowed to bring fluids over 3 ounces, I had no water bottle for the 6.5 hour flight and was very thirsty the whole time. The drinks served are very small."
Prós: "I bought a return ticket from Panama City to Rio on Kayak and was not notified that a Yellow Fever shot was necessary for re-entry to Panama. Turned back at the air port in Rio I had to spend an extra 13 days in Rio de Janeiro at my expense, three to see doctor and get vacine, plus ren day waiting period."
Contras: "To change ticket I had to pay change fee plus fare difference. Copa said it was not their responsibility to notify passengers of health alerts and Kayak should be responsible. Needless to say I was on the hook for the time and the bill. I have flown Copa with satisfaction a number of times but this is enough to discourage me from ever flying them again and possibly ever using Kayak again."

Contras: "I purchased a round trip ticket from Costa Rica to Panama in order to comply with laws stating non-resident aliens must leave Costa Rica every 90 days for a period of at least three days. When it came time to return to Costa Rica, I understood that I had not purchased ANOTHER ticket to "prove" my intent to leave Costa Rica again three months in the future. I told the ticket agent I wishes to purchase a "fully refundable" ticket for a future flight, but she was (or professed to be) unable to assure me the ticket she was selling me was refundable. Upon return to Costa Rica, as before, immigration did not ask to see any such proof nor did they even ask my intentions. Isn't this called fraud? I did not need the ticket and, of course, in contacting Copa Airlines, I would have to return to Panama in order to even get a partial refund, which they won't guarantee. Not doing this again."

Prós: "The fare was relatively low so I was not expecting much beyond safe transit between Costa Rica and Panamá. I was pleasantly surprised by the robust flight crew that all seemed knowledgeable, very friendly, and professional. I particularly enjoyed the quick and easy check in, no extra charges for my very large checked item, in flight entertainment via headrest screens, ample leg room and storage, and the ability to charge my phone during the flight via USB. Even though I was a passenger in coach, we were provided a light snack and free alcohol and beverages during the short flight. All in all, even as a very frequent traveler, Copa surpassed my expectations. I will definitely fly with them again."
Contras: "The only thing I felt could be improved was the boarding process and signage. I was originally in an exit row seat but was unexpectedly relocated as I boarded. The explanation was quite vague, even though I asked the gentleman to repeat himself twice, but overall the change was fine. I was moved up a few rows and kept my window seat preference, so I wasn't upset. I only wish I had been notified earlier at the check in desk rather than holding up the line of passengers behind me."

We were booked on a flight that was delayed, turned out there was a flight about to depart (it had been delayed 2.5hrs due to weather), but was departing prior to our reg scheduled flight so they put us on standby. No doubt the crew was also columbus based and eager to get home...as they did. Couldn’t be more pleased to get home"

We were informed thatcher would have to wait 24hours (after an already 7 hour layover) to catch another flight to Los Angeles. After debating with customer servinge several times and being forced to wait in line after being told things were fixed several time we had to threaten to record conversations and had someone call American Airlines headquarters and finally was able to get in the flight the same night. We at work be point were laughed at by an American Airlines customer service professional. I had purchased upgraded seats since I’m over 6 feet tall and they were not able to accommodate on the new flight, the flight was horrible and I had ton stand up every hour to make I the whole 12 hours."

There were only 2 people helping on check in (in machines) and these people were still not helping people (like me) with questions about on how to do check in in those machines. On the other hand to dispatch the bags there were almost 8 attendants to receive the bags. Ridiculous! I’ve tried calling American Airlines and Latam several times to assign a seat for me and they swore there were only middle seats but I know how airlines work to make extra money on these seats. At the end, they only gave me a middle seat option and I had to take I.t of course. On the plane I realized there were dozens of empty seats and yet they made sure not give them to me or anyone else. Unbelievable! Unfortunately I still have to use AA on my way back to Brazil. After this, I’ll chose another airlines for sure. Also, the 3,4,3 arrangement is ridiculous: there’s no corridor space making people touching you everything someone passes by your seat. And boy! Those seats are so uncomfortable and there’s no way to incline the chair so you can even have a little rest (because it’s impossible to even sleep on those seats). The crew were simply doing their jobs! No pleasure! No smile! No engaging with anyone unfortunately! They looked miserable and I asked for water and the flight attendant NEVER brought me anything. Seriously! Water is free!"

What is the point of having in flight entertainment if crew will interrupt said entertainment at least once every 10 min to remind you you are still in turbulent air? Do they honestly think the passengers forgot? We are in the plane too! I understand they have to be careful due to liability but this airline is ridiculous. Believe it or not customers do not like being treated like children. Would not recommend to others or fly this airline again. Also, the lunch was awful even by airline standards. Btw the airline was avianca not AA. kayak must have messed up or they are owned by AA. AA is great and I recommend them wholeheartedly but Avianca is awful. Stay away if you can afford to do so."
Prós: "Bridget was managing the cancellation lines with finesse, compassion, and urgency. She was a star! The rebooked flight was fast, comfortable, and landed early."
Contras: "Previous flight was canceled and forced us to stay in DC an extra day. Watched flights continue to arrive and depart from our hotel room. Rebooked using the mobile app but could not check in on mobile or at the kiosk. Waited in line for almost 2 hours for AA to simply check us in and print passes. The flight did not get catering refreshed after landing in DC so no refreshments or snacks were offered during the flight home."
Contras: "I'm pregnant, and didn't have time before my connecting flight to get food at the airport. I was sitting near the back of the plane, and was ready to purchase food. By the time the cart reached my row, all the food options were literally sold out. I ate the free cookie and had some apple juice, but wanted something with some protein. I guess I'll remember to pack more snacks next time."

Prós: "the plane, a 380, had comfortable seats, fewer occupants, more and easier access to bathrooms, did not like the larger plane I flew on going to Australia, it held 700 persons could physically reach the lights and when on, they didn't disturb anyone vegetarian food was delicious and nutritionally sound and varied love the soft blankets"

Also they lost my luggage. LATAM and American Air Lines doesnt know where my luggage is. I arrived at my LAX 12 hours after. They still dont know where my luggage is"
Contras: "I had my reservation cancelled despiste numerous phone calls. The flight was operated by AA, and they told me I wasn't on the flight, but after many phone calls LATAN assured me I was booked on the flight. When I got to the airport, I was not allowed to board my direct flight from GRU to LAX, instead I was sent to Miami then Charlestown , I took me an extra 12 hours to get home. I lost a day of work. Who's going to reimburse me for that ???"
Contras: "The crew definitely needs to be changed. There needs to be hostesses who are more attentive and actually care about their passengers."

The logistics either of Air Canada or at the Toronto airport for domestic flights stinks. I will try to avoid both in future."

I do not spend so much money to fly with an airline, whose agents treat it me like this! She really should be fired for her terrible manners and for giving customers wrong information..the second supervisor we talked to helped us, but the impression we got from the agent was so terrible, that it was hard to feel any good...no food on a flight during lunch hour, seems unfitting."

Safety demonstration props missing."

The system for check-in is the stupidest i have ever seen - we were asked to scan passports and boarding passes then stand in a crowded area to wait for names to come up on an electronic board that could only be read from the front of the room. So when we got to the airport they didn't confirm we could actually get on the flight because it was oversold until 7:30pm, 2.5 hours after our scheduled flight. We arrived to a wedding 15 mins before the place closed."
Prós: "In-flight entertainment console is pretty good"
Contras: "Departure was 40 minutes delayed right off the bat for reasons unknown and unexplained. Then, worse, mechanical trouble on the tarmack, we had to return to the gate and power down the plane, while still remaining on board, unventilated and unpleasantly sweaty, in the dark even for a while. What should have been a quick 1.5 hour flight and 8:30pm arrival thus became a sweaty 4-hour ordeal and almost 11pm arrival. Not the end of the world, but I was a bit taken aback at the absence of apologetic behaviour, like perhaps serving drinks while we're sweating on the tarmack, or heaven forbid, a meal of some sort considering we were departing later than we should have all already been home."
Prós: "Good attention by the crew. Cleaner than airlines rom the US in recent years. Good entertainment assortment."
Contras: "The buttons on the screen in economy seats for controlling the entertainment are less effective. too small, and sometimes a bit off. Tying to control during a light chop takes quite a bit of effort (A330)"
Contras: "Baggage claim at final destination was a complete mess. I went straight to the baggage claim area after our flight and never saw any baggage come out at the designated carousel. Checked with the baggage office and they apparently don't work with Air Canada and sent me to their check in desk where no one was available. Customer service was only able to fill out a form listing me as missing my baggage and tell me to head home. Had to return to pick up my luggage the next day, but the Air Canada manager couldn't even tell me if the baggage would have gone to the baggage claim carousel or to the check in desk, because it seems they have no established protocol. With it being such a small flight (only around 10-15 of us total on the plane), it seems like a brief announcement of where our luggage would be could have saved people headaches. Being small seems to be an issue where the airline itself doesn't have any real established protocols or a substantial presence in the Columbus airport at least. So overall, not impressed with the management when checking in or out in the actual airport."

I also couldn't get the attendant to bring me a pair of earphones or show me where to plug in to watch movies or TV. There was also a bottle of water rolling on the floor, but that could have been dropped by a passenger on this flight. Overall, I had a "meh" experience."

Contras: "The flight was delayed 30 minutes causing me to lose the connecting flight home by about 5 minutes There was no effort from United to help me to get the second flight on time or from the crew on that one to delay it enough for me to arrive. They suggested I waited 9 hours for the next available flight or to get one by AA in Reagan Airport in 3 hours. They told me that transportation to that airport would not be reimbursed and would cost between 20 and 40 dollars. I didn't know the airports were that far apart and the one-hour taxi drive cost me 80 dollars. From Sao Paulo to Washington, things went as well as expected. Once landed everything was horrible."
Contras: "When transferring our luggage from the flight from Panama, we had to walk all the way to the entrance of the airport as if we had just arrived there instead of being able to transfer the luggage directly. This was not communicated, and we ended up walking around a lot and having to ask at the info desk. When we finally got to the counter, the woman there gave confusing instructions and was incredibly rude to us. As for entertainment on the flight, we couldn't do anything without the app, which you have to get before you're on the plane. Boo."
Prós: "This was my first experience flying United. The staff and pilot were friendly even though everyone seemed grumpy and tired. There was a poor baby that cried almost the whole flight-I get it, I was tired and wanted to cry too...ha! They handled everyone with patience and a smile."

Prós: "For the first time I did not fly on a puddle jumper. Not only was it a real jet, it had good seat comfort and leg room even in economy class. The crew was friendly and attentive. They came by with offerings of water at least 4 times for a 2+ hour flight. Contrast that with my last two 5 hour flights on Virgin and American where they came by with water — ONCE. WiFi wasn’t working for either flight and of course the lack of decent food is discouraging. The coffee has improved which is a plus. Overall, good job, United! Nice not to be jammed in like sardines for once."

Prós: "There were maybe two of the flight attendants. Who weren't rude. The rest well, I guess didn't like there jobs? I lost all my money for my first flight, because i was over 4 hours late. When i purchased a ticket from cheapo air, the person helping me was so nice. Unlike United airlines, or Viama. When i missed my flight that i paid $1,300.00, United said they'd give me another ticket for $4,000? This was a one time offer to redeem my $1,300 Viama said $10,500? I will only buy my tickets from cheapo air from now on."
Contras: "The flight attendants are very snotty, 2 out of the 18 I encountered were polite. The rest acted like they hated their jobs, and all the passengers. When you travel to another country they should have at least one person who speaks English. Can't really say much for the food, essentially requesting a vegetarian meal was out of the question, so i just starve. Drink some watered down booze, take a few dramamine and sleep. The layovers are ridiculous. 14 hours, 8 hours 4 hours? Good thing God made Beer and pizza."
