I checked back later and the app had me as number 7 on the standby list. I called Delta (wait time 3+ hours... my flight was in 3), and then the Delta app support where I was able to get through to someone. She told me that the ticket I purchased over a month in advance did not guarantee me a seat on the plane (???). She said that if I was bumped from the flight they would reschedule me for the next morning. She was pretty rude and made it seem like I had a 50/50 shot of getting on this plane. I rushed to the airport in hopes that I would be the first from Standby there, and the gate agent told me that I was fine and would board right after first class and be assigned a seat then. Great. Once I got my seat assignment, I board to find out there is someone else sitting in my seat...... They eventually called the desk and had her moved, but it was the weirdest boarding experience I've had.. and I've flown Spirit. These planes that Delta fly's are SO OLD. Both times I have flown Delta the "turbulence" has been so bad and cold air was blowing right on my the whole flight with no option to turn it off (it wasn't from one of the vents, but from the side). Someone close to me works for Delta and I know for a fact that some of their engines blow mid-flight.. and they tell the passengers that it's turbulence.. so that doesn't make me feel very safe. I won't fly Delta again if there is another comparable option."

While Delta re-booked me on United, my flight arrived 3 hours later than scheduled (so transportation plans had to change), my bag did not successfully move from the Delta flight to the United flight (and was thus delayed in getting to GRU) AND once the bag was received, 4 shirts had been stolen. While a delay/theft claim has been filed with United, this could all have been avoided if the Delta flights had been on time."

Luckily, there were a few empty seats and we were able to move, although not together. 3 of our 4 flights were on newer planes, and on one other flight we were also seated in the back row. But, those seats reclined and were as comfortable as any other seat on the plane. COPA, if you're reading this, kudos to your great operation, but do NOT use that horrible old 737 on such a long flight. Or, only use those seats for standbys!"

Contras: "I went through security at Lima Peru (Jorge Chavez International), everything was fine. I arrived to Panama, and the gate was next door which is just great awesome. The bad part was that I had to go through a security check once again there, although I had not left the airport since I left Lima. I went through the exercise, I was told that there would be no liquids (8 oz bottle of water, soda, etc) allowed passed that check point. Yet they were selling these items next to the gate. It made no sense why this checkpoint and why the liquid restrictions. Once in the area if I wanted to go use the restroom or whatever I needed to go through the checkpoint. There were 6 Copa employees manning this station, that's extra expense that the company passes on to the flyer for a step that should be evaluated and look at to see why other airlines do not do this. I was not the only one getting frustrated with this setup, but also passengers that did not speak Spanish they could not communicate with Copa employees. I saw this liquid restriction with Spirit Airlines in Lima, and I decided not to fly with them any more, no matter how inexpensive their fares were. Spirit told us that it was US law that made them have people throw away their drinks, although they were bought in a secured area. To me this was just a way to charge for drinks on the plane. I never had to throw away my drink if I had bought it in a secured area."

Contras: "To board the plane in Panama City passengers had to go through a second security screening and were therefore unable to bring bottled beverages onto the plane. Once through this second security there was no where to purchase water. The free never came through the plane to offer more beverages after the meal service. Many passengers got up and corralled at the back of the plane to get water. I watched a flight attendant drink from one the large bottles herself and then presumably serve to a customer."
Prós: "This announcement by the pilot at the beginning of the flight turned out to be incorrect. Despite the fact that I did online check-in at least 23 hours in advance, I was seated way at the rear of the jet. As a single woman who looks unusual because half of my hair is shorter due to recent surgery; I sincerely hope I was not seated at the back due to my appearance. The other passenger seated with me was a very kind developmentally disabled young man. The placement in row 33 +/- only emphasized the many instances of turbulence on the flight to Chicago."

Contras: "My complaint is with the Panama TSA!! Why do you have 2nd security check at the gate before boarding? They were rude, didn't speak English (or played like they didn't) and their just throwing your possessions around in front of everyone!! Just stupid!!"

Prós: "Loved the check in. No baggage expense. Up to two bags FREE! Then, we had a meal --that was included in the fare. The crew was pleasant and accommodating. Everyone was pleasant. To pass the time on the 5 1/2 hour flight, there were options for movies, TV, games and etc. Overall, it was a pleasant flight. When I book my next trip, I'm going to see if Copa goes there. If so, that's my first choice."

We called Copa and every time each of us talked to Copa we were given a different instruction. Very confusing and stressful. When my parents were checking in for flight they asked the representative about meal selection and she didn't answer their questions properly and because of that my mom didn't get proper Hindu Vegetarian food on flight instead she got Egg omelet which she couldn't eat. She has to eat just fruits. My mother is a diabetic patient and she needs a food every after some time. I never had such a bad experience before with any other airlines."

Contras: "Flight delayed ... Myself and three other colleagues didn't have our luggage show up from KLM flight from Amsterdam to Brussels...even though all of our luggage was labeled "priority". Once in customer service line, we looked and saw that many of the other passengers on our flight also never received their luggage. We estimated that 20-25% of the people on that flight did not receive their luggage as they were in line with us for the same problem. Hard to understand how so many pieces of luggage could have been overlooked and not loaded on our flight. Obviously there is a huge gap in their quality system to ensure mistakes like this are prevented."

Contras: "I paid extra for a window seat, but due to the poor alignment of the seats with the actual windows, I actually sat next to a wall! Nol much to see out of a wall. If KLM are going to charge extra for a window seat, then they should make sure there is a window there! If the seat had actually had a window it would have been an excellent flight."

As a result, we had to exit the secured area in Rio to go check in manually again for our connection and then go through security and customs again."

This was one of the worse experiences I have ever had. The staff was disrespectful and would not help us. We ended up taking another flight until the following night!!"

When we got to the line to board the plane, we waited another hour before we were told to get on a bus to take us to our plane. Our plan left 45 minutes later than expected, but the airport never communicated any details about a delay. We rushed to wait in line instead of having time to get things at the airport or sit."

She said i should sit, because it could take a long time. She didn't ask my name nor tell me who I should be waiting for. Just to wait. I had to ask for the persons name I should be waiting for and if she would be wearing a AM suit. I asked if there was a desk where she would be, and with an attitude the Rep, said "I already told, you just go wait by McDonald's". After waiting for an hour and asking every woman that walked by if they were Stephanie, I finally found her. She was walking by, clearly not looking for me. I had to follow her and stop her. If not she would have walked right by. Once we spoke, she was very helpful."

We didn’t like how we had to take a bus which they packed us up like sardines to take us to go up to our plane. She did not even allow me to speak to a manager, she said there was no one above her. Extremely RUDE!!"
