The crew gave us little to no communication about the situation and when asked they said our connecting flights would wait for us. When we finally did land there was not a gate available. We had to wait for a bus to pick us up and drive to a gate, this took at least 30 minutes. When we finally got to the gate of our connecting flight, we were only 15-20 minutes late. Our flight had already left and the staff directed us to the information desk for assistance. They sent us in the wrong direction. When we got to the correct desk we waited for an hour and a half to be seen, there were at least 30 people behind us. They offered us a flight that wouldn’t arrive to our final destination, San Francisco, for two days. We opted to have them fly us to Miami and then had to purchase our own flight from Miami to San Francisco. When we boarded our flight to Miami later that night we had to wait for over an hour for other passengers and bags that were delayed. Our bags are missing and we had to wait in an another hour long line to submit a claim. Overall it’s been a complete nightmare."

Prós: "I liked how accommodating the staff was with seating for my family, as I was traveling with two young children and we weren't seated together. There was more leg room than most other domestic air travel companies I have been on. There was no upgrade charge for every little thing, such as blankets, pillows, etc. We were fed on each flight, and alcoholic beverages were at no additional charge. The exit tax to leave Costa Rica was included in our ticket, which I was not aware of until I was leaving the country. (nice surprise). Over all, most other airline companies in the USA have made changes that improve their bottom line, but they have completely ruined any favorable aspect of traveling with their airline (American Airlines, Frontier, Southwest, Delta, etc). Copa has done a great job of providing great service and cost for travelers. Please do not change your business strategy by removing some of the above mentioned benefits I enjoyed in order to improve your profit margin. It is refreshing to know there are still air carriers out there that retain the service that is hoped for by most travelers. Also, Roxana and her entire flight crew were outstanding. Thank you , I will fly with you anytime I have the chance."

We called Copa and every time each of us talked to Copa we were given a different instruction. Very confusing and stressful. We decided not to get the vaccination, taking into consideration the cost of it, $159.00 for each family member!!!"

All went much better when flights left directly from David. David is manageable. Tocumen IS NOT. The flight crew to Belize City was ok. Trip to Panama. I messed my connecting flight because, once again, THE WHEELCHAIR was missing. A stewardess led me to the location, but by the time we got there, the flight had left."

Prós: "A much more enjoyable flying experience than any domestic US carrier! We flew on the Airbus A320 from Mendoza to Buenos Aires AEP Airport. It was very easy - check-in to landing! Seat assignment can normally be done in advance so definitely try to pre-assign your economy seats in row 1-3 as they have more legroom due to them being used for Business Class (when that cabin is offered). Priority boarding is done based on seat row and those holding Oneworld status, are not treated in any special way (including check-in). In-flight service consisted of them serving you a drink (non-alcoholic) and a snack box to every person which had a nice variety of nibbles – cookie, chocolate and a type of cracker."

Contras: "The machines to check in weren't working, so we had to do a long line to check in, when we got to the counter (an hour before the flight) they had already sold our seats! Then they put us on a waiting list for two other flights and apparently each of those was full. After all this we were told that they could only put us on a waiting list for the following day, at this point we purchased a flight with another airline (Avianca) and left. The people on the LAN counter don't have the disposition to help and are quick to disregard and client issues. Will never flight with them again."

After a 3 hour delay that caused me (and tons of others) to miss a connecting international flight, LATAM’s telephone servers had the nerve to claim I was a no show and needed to pay them for my absence. This resulted in a long discussion where I was held on hold until they could adequately determine that yes i missed the flight because they held us late. This was the only way that i was able to avoid their charge to me for being a “no show.”"
Contras: "The boarding in Rio de Janeiro was great, the land crew was very helpful. In Lima it was below par, the crew was not helpful at all, and no warnings or communications to when to board. Had to wait an hour inside the plane for some sort of maintenance."

Contras: "When we arrived we were told that the entire plane's checked luggage had been decided to NOT be sent on that plane. They said that we could have it delivered to out hotel, except they refused to send it to our hotel because it was an hour away. That's not our issue, that's YOUR issue. So we had to wait at the tiny airport. They told us it would take an hour.... it ended up taking THREE HOURS for our luggage to arrive on another plane. Absolutely horrible experience. I will be flying with a different airline in the future, even if that means going into an entirely different airport."

However at the check-in the weight allowance in cabin for the 2 pieces was the weight for one carry on not for this and the personal item I was told by phone."

I was in line behind a family that had trouble with paperwork and once they finished let them through then sent me to the very back of the last line to board. I do not speak fluent Spanish and when I tried to clarify was told very curtly “ontra linea” and he forcefully pointed to the back of the line and turned away."
Prós: "None of our flights were full, so there was plenty of room to stretch out. Crew was polite and helpful. I like their boarding procedures, by assigned zone. Entertainment options were quite decent. I don’t speak any Spanish, but crew also spoke English, which I aporeciated. Toilets were kept sufficiently clean during flight."
Contras: "Food was your average airplane food, in other words, not so good but on par with most other airlines I’ve experienced"

I was traveling with my mother to Mexico to celebrate her 60th birthday and was very excited to upgrade to kick off the celebration. We were offered a glass of water or orange juice after boarding; and when we requested a celebratory glass of champagne, we were denied. As in all other airlines first class participants are served anything they desire while the economy passengers board. It wasn’t until an hour into our flight that we were offered something again. At one point, I turned around and noticed that the first several rows of economy class already had their meals. Before first class. This is not something I would expect. I only fly economy class and was beyond excited to experience the first class amenities, only to feel extremely disappointed in the service by AeroMexico. At this time, I would like to request a refund on the upgrade."

What a horrible lack of management!’ Who runs this airport/airline!? At the end they moved us to completly different terminal!!! Had to find a new transportation to the hotel!!! Also it was crazy that there was no inflight entertainment for such a long flight."

But then I was sat in a 'special' section, the only 2 seats that are narrower than a regular seat. The flight attendant said there was nothing they could do. 5 1/2 hours and I spent half the time standing up to avoid serious cramps. As a tall person I am literally getting phased out of airline seats. My knee to hip length prevents me from sitting in some seats. No one cares."

It however was not completely their fault. this first delay was then we were delayed by the arrival of the president. Can't really do much to help that. :) Most of the crew were wonderful however I encountered a very rude and abrupt crew member at the airport. I was not a fan."

Prós: "The 787 dreamliner was such a fantastic aircraft, one of the best aircraft I've flown across the Pacific. Despite being delayed, the flight crew was so accommodating and helpful with getting us to our destination quickly and safely. I hope to fly this route again soon"

Contras: "Late departure due to late arrival of the plane from previous destination. Pushed our arrival time after midnight. Rental car agency was closed and had to rent from a different one at a very steep premium. No apologies and no assistance."
Prós: "I am only 5'4" but the seat in front of me was broken. I had NO leg room. If you are going to squeeze your passengers in like sardines, the very least that you could do is make sure what little room you have left us isn't compromised by faulty equipment."

Food wasn’t cooked all the way when it got to a passenger. It was still cold. It was the worst flight I’ve been on. I would rather ride in a jump seat on a C-130 with military!"

Contras: "It was SO hot on plane, I was miserable the whole flight. It started out with a delay on the tarmac due to the air conditioning not working. We had to wait for maintenance to fix that. That wasn’t a big deal to me. We didn’t have a connecting flight to catch, so we were understanding....things happen. The problem for me began when HOT air was blowing on my legs the WHOLE flight. I was miserable! They only had pizza for purchase which did NOT sound appetizing in that heat. It was a terribly long flight and I was so happy to land and get off!!"

Contras: "As I was boarding my carry on was taken and stowed in checked baggage, when I moved toward my seat, I made a comment to my sister, that I didn't like this airline and the stewardess told me that I could get off! This was a private conversation number one and number 2 she could have asked if there was a problem, apologize and try to fix it. But Lorilies behavior was just rude! No wonder united is having passenger issues."

They've done it by inventing a new "basic economy" class which costs just what it used to cost to fly economy, only you don't get to pick your seats, don't get to bring a carry on, and can't check in for your flight without one of their staff verifying your personal item isn't secretly a carry-on."
