We are big are traveling light, so we had 2 small suitcases, small enough that we never have to check them in for the US domestic flights. I asked the check-in agent if the small ones were needed to be checked in or if they could be taken as carry-ons. He made a big deal that they were too big and had to be checked in. But when we boarded the plane, we saw that about a quarter of the carry-on bags in the plane were as big as our small suitcases! We were in row 30+. The leg room was the narrowest I have had in all international flights I flew in. Having longer than average legs, it was pure torture for the duration of the overnight flight. The best part of the dinner they served was the croissant - that should give you an idea. I don't think I would voluntarily choose Swiss Air again."

Contras: "After missing our connecting flight in Istanbul on our Turkish Airlines flight on January 9th from LAX-Addis Ababa (due to a nearly 45 minute delayed flight), my sister and I had to spend 24 hours in Istanbul and still pay for a night in our 4 star hotel in Addis, despite the fact that we weren't there. So, in preparation for our flight back to LAX, I spent hours on the phone with a Turkish Airlines representative to ensure that we would not miss our connecting flight on the way back to LAX on January 29 (Jomo Kenyatta-IST-LAX). The TA representative spoke very little English and became incredibly frustrated with me when I expressed my concern about how closely scheduled our connecting flights in Istanbul were. The representative said she could "help us" by seating us at the back of the plane from Jomo Kenyatta-IST, as she was "mostly sure" that our plane would deboard from the back of the plane once we arrived in Istanbul and, in theory, we wouldn't have to wait behind all the other customers to exit. This was totally incorrect: our plane only deboarded from the front exit door and the seats she selected at the back would surely have caused us to miss our next flight were it not for the fact that the plane wasn't full and we arrived only a few minutes late. Still, by the time we got off the plane in IST, our connecting flight was already 15 minutes into boarding. We showed the TA attendants our boarding passes at the long security line, and at first they both said, "don't worry, it will be fine". I had to convince them to let us skip the line as we would clearly have missed our flight. Once we finally made it through security we ran through the ENTIRE Istanbul airport to get to our gate, as we could hear them calling the final boarding call for our flight to LAX. We literally ran as fast as we could for almost 20 minutes straight, with all of our bags, which ended up being over a mile, I would guess. When we got to our gate, we had to go through yet another security line - WHY??? Apparently there was a celebrity in front of us, and while we were sweating and nervous about missing our flight, the security agents were taking selfies with the celebrity. It was insulting and rude and totally unprofessional. The take away for me is that Turkish Airlines should NOT be allowed to sell flights to people that give them less than an hour to make international connecting, especially in an airport as large and disorganized as Istanbul, and especially when Turkish Airlines flights are often late or delayed. This was one of the most stressful flying experiences of my life."

Turkish airlines did not even bother to help with accommodations, instead giving my wife and I a small bed to sleep in vs a hotel room. The only way to get a hotel room was to leave the airport, and we could not get Visas because we were American citizens. Turkish airlines was a very bad experience. Overall this was a poor experience, and I will not fly Turkish Airlines again. I will make sure my friends and family know that this is a poor airline with poor customer service."

Why dont they take it with the luggage OR at least let you know they dont transfer them for you! Not happy"

For that reason, connecting legs of trips through these airports should not be scheduled so close together. Heathrow is the worst, with security staff that, at best, don’t care that you have a close connection to make and just ignore your pleas to speed up the process, and at worst, are just plain rude."

Prós: "Easily the most comfortable I've ever been in TATL economy. Lufthansa's 747-8 is set up strangely: the main deck is arranged First - Business - Economy - Prem. Economy - Economy. This means that if you can book a seat in the forward economy mini-cabin, you get dedicated cabin crew, no other passengers walking through your space to get to the bathroom, plenty of bin space, and – best of all – a lot of aisle space to stretch your legs. Row 16 aisle seats are especially good, as the bulkhead between J and Y doesn't extend all the way, and therefore you can stretch your feet out. Food was actually excellent (for economy), hot and flavorful and generous, with snacks available mid-flight. Beverages also tops – gotta love Lufthansa for offering Campari (!) and more than one wine choice."

Boarding and transit security in Frankfurt was anxiety-inducing – between getting to the US departures area and additional screening, it took more than an hour from deplaning to getting in line. Ultimately after arriving in Venice, I get an email that my bags did not make it, yet I was told by the boarding agent that the plane was still loading our bags."
Prós: "Flight was uneventful, which is what you want!"
Prós: "Extremely polite and courteous."
Contras: "The vegetation meals were not appealing. There was no flavor and strange food combinations."
Contras: "Delays in departure from Hamburg. Lack of information, directions or assistance with connection. No notification and very poor handling of missing luggage claim processing. Poor service for such a professional airline. Bags missed the flight and we were kept waiting me re than an hour to process a claim."
Prós: "This flight from Munich to Charlotte was operated by Lufthansa. To my surprise (and a little help from a friend) I was upgraded to business class. does not get much better than that !!"
Prós: "Confident pilots and hostesses."
Prós: "Despite not being able to recline my seat, I at least had room for my legs, unlike the last flight."
Contras: "My seat was unable to recline. Boarding was a bit chaotic, and the constant shuttling around Frankfurt airport is just ridiculous. (Not that the airline can do anything about it)."
Prós: "made sure we didnt miss our connecting flight to denver after flight from paris was delayed. met us at landing and took us to immigration and gate"
Prós: "The Lufthansa flight to Montreal was a really full flight. Lufthansa already gives Silver Star Alliance card holders preferential seats, but for the Montreal flight I got upgraded to Business. What a pleasure! I felt like a really valued customer. At a time where one has to pick value for money and figure out your loyalties in air travel; I can promise that Lufthansa will be a top choice for me on future flights. Excellent in all regards."
Prós: "The seats were comfortable (economy), headrest excellent. Crew especially hospitable. Good food. It was nice to be offered drinks and food without extra charge, including alcoholic drinks ( even though we did not drink on the flight). I appreciate that Lufthansa does not charge for checked bag, food etc and hope to fly again on Lufthansa."
Contras: "Having to pay for seat reservation ahead of the flight. I did not understand how seat selection would work and wanted to be sure my husband and I were seated together. I think I paid extra fees unnecessarily. It would be helpful to have better information."
Prós: "The crew was very good."
Contras: "The security questioning at the boarding gate was not at all coordinated. Note that this was a Lufthansa flight operated by United. I was asked the same security questions twice because the first security officer forgot to place a sticker on my boarding pass. The security staff was both rude and arrogant."
Contras: "Flight was overbooked and we were not sure to the last minute whether all our party members would be on the flight. Our seat arrangements were also cancelled."
Prós: "Good flight attendants"

Contras: "After we realized our flight was cancelled we were trying to reach Lufthansa but couldn't for a long time. It was very frustrating. There was nothing we could do on their website either. No alternative flights were offered, no additional information about how and when we can fly home. We had to stay one extra day on Salzburg since this was the only option given to us by Lufthansa when we finally spoke to them the next day. This experience with Lufthansa was absolutely disappointing and we will probably never book with them again."
Prós: "Everything was great. The boarding process was fast and efficient. The plane was clean and apparently fairly new. The flight attendants were friendly and Lufthansa has more of them than many other airlines which really helps service. Lunch meal was very good."
Contras: "Light snack before landing in Atlanta was not bad, but wasn't great either."
Contras: "The food was really disappointing... First time flying on lufthansa. Heard a lot of good things about it. Flight was ok overll but rather disappointing compared to what i heard"
Prós: "flight attendants were very nice, helpful, and accountable. I wish every flight had them on their crew."
