Excellent location. Modern hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for the fourth time, which speaks for itself. We recommended this hotel to our friends and again they were absolutely satisfied. Would we stay at the Petit Palace Mayor Plaza again? Surely!
Steps from mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, night life, Puerta del Sol, museums, the location could not have been better! The staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast had a great variety, and for the cost could not be beat! The shower was awesome, remodeled! We will be returning there at the end of our trip because we enjoyed the hotel and location so much! Rooms were small
Modern hotel in the heart of Madrid. Friendly staff. Walking distance to everything. Great breakfast buffet.
The hotel was very clean we had a huge balcony with a great view. The location is amazing it is located in the center of Madrid . There is a delicious market located directly across from the hotel . The staff was extremely helpful . If I come back to Madrid I would definitely stay here again !!!
The staff at the hotel is fantastic. The location is wonderful and everything was very clean The room is very small but when your out it doesn't matter
the best was the location of the hotel the horrible smell in the bathroom, real problem of drains in the hotel made the stay in the room not confortable
Location, location, location & fancy bathroom Heavily stained carpet
location was very centric they advertise that they have parking and they do not. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond compared to other hotels during this trip.
petit palace is a great location for cental madrid , great shops and restaurants within minutes walk , awful smell of drains in room 8 , needs better windows , can hear people and traffic outside window
location...laptop in the room & the free internet.
Location was the only strength of this hotel. The carpets were dirty. There were just enough room for 4 adults. We stayed in a Petit Palace in Barcelona and the room were really spacious and decided to book with the same chain. But this one was way below expectations.
American who enjoyed staying at the Agumar Hotel for a few days. Friendly and helpful staff, bilingual, comfortable, beautiful old world charm lobby, nice bar & breakfast area, clean, comfortable & spacious room, close to metro, and advance purchase was a good price. I would stay here again.
Close to some tourist attractions
The breakfast is fabulous and very generous absolutely worth it. The location is ideal, retiro park, reina Sofia museum, thyssen museum, botanical gardens and other attractions are all within a ten minute radius and the concierge is very helpful. The pillows are a bit hard and the room I got had no view except to other windows, but to be honest the rooms are impeccable and comfortable.
Very good location as we were travelling from Atocha Station, also near the galleries, comfortable rooms.
Location and value The noise from Aircon tubes
pleasent, clean rooms
everyone was friendly and helpful rooms were clean
Nothing stands out Not really close to the places it said it was close to. A bit out of thw way. Outdated decor. Very noisy staff in the morning and very noisy in general.
A room with more space and "class" than I expected for the price. Very comfortable bed. There was a fee charged to use wifi in the room, or the computer in the lobby.
Easy walk to Atocha and to EMT airport shuttle for only 5 euro. But also quiet and just off the touristy area, so has a bit more of a local feel. Always English speaking staff member at desk. Stayed as single in small but suitable single room, and also stayed several days with family in very large "family sized" room. Suited wife, me, and two teenage boys just fine. Two large rooms and two individual mattresses fold out from sleeper sofa in second room. Everything in good repair, but decor a bit dated.
I had a very comfortable bed and I was able to relax in my room. The breakfast was very varied. The staff were very professional and helpful. Breakfast was a little dear in my opinion.
Hotel muito bem localizado, excelente relação preço x qualidade! Recepcionistas muito atenciosos!
Reasonably well located on the edge of the city next to a number of restaurants. Staff were friendly and eager to help! My bathroom smelt like a sespit due to the drains backing up!! There is not a great selection of food on the hotel menu......very limited!
Convenient location, nice housekeeping staff, very good hotel food, efficient staff, comfortable rooms So far, so good: I'm leaving in a few days.
All good All good
The design is nice on the inside, and the room was confortable and new. Good bathroom. There should be coffee/tea making facilities in the room. The air conditioning was not strong enough. It is a bit far from the centre, and the area around it is not pleasant, although it seemed safe.
very spacious room ,good service (laundry quick and nice) not in best location , no restaurants in neigbourhood easy acces for strangers to rooms (guard prefers reception area to entrance)
Excellent staff. No.
We found from the minute we arrived they were helpful and pleasant and looked after my group superbly, nothing was a problem for them and as I had to print our Boarding passes they allowed us to do that aswell excellent hotel
location ++. very near to metro station. great value for money. this hotel is real 4 stars.
Very clean ,comfortable rooms.Staff with excellent English. We were impressed with bathroom / shower. All perfect for our visit. Nothing
Globally, everything was excellent. The reception staff were not able to provide us clear informations about madrid or on how to get there. as well as point us some specific restaurants in the map.
Modern and relatively large designer rooms Breakfast is expensive and not so good
Optimize the sinalization. It's no easy to find the hotel who come from Metro or Bus.
Do design da Iluminação e do conforto do Hotel
I feel confortable in this hotel... Its new and very clean...Theres a Free Wi Fi internet which is very helpful for the traveller...Staff are helpful........ The design of the hotel is nice...Recommended for budget traveller..... This is perfect for me! They dont have shuttle bus from the airport...
Nice design, attentive person
Lots of space in the room, free wifi Warm water wasn't very warm at all.
Clean rooms, good breakfast and conformable parking. Some problems about the internet connection in the rooms.
Very spacious and comfortable room, friendly staff, free wifi. Excellent breakfast. Great value for money.. Only a 10 minute taxi from the airport. A little far from resturarants, shops etc especially quiet on weekend, but bus stop to city is nearby.
This hotel has a really good value for money. When my husband and I stayed the accommodation included free mini-bar (non alcoholic drinks and beers) and wifi internet connection. Most of the staff in the hotel offered a very good service. The hotel location is good if you come by car, but is you have to rely on public transport this hotel might not be convenient - the nearest metro station is located aprox 15 minutes walking distance . Also, in despite of being a new building and having big spaces, it didn't have a sauna or swimming pool only a small fitness area.
Location and cleanliness all signs are in Spanish. the hotel is not designed for international visiters.
Location, the porter (very nice people) the restaurant There were no spa, in a 5* that´s not on.....
As other people have said, it is the staff at this hotel that were really great and I have told people about it that I would not normally tell or make comment to. If all hotels used this one as an example of how to deal with customers from the point you enter it, travelling would be a lot more pleasant. It is the little things that they do so well and always cheerfully, they respond, they are good at what they do from the restaurant to the bar to reception and the doorman and porter. I dont know how they do it, but they need to keep the secret and keep it going!! The size of the gym and the pool!!
At EUR 22 plus per person, breakfast is too expensive. It is good, but out of proportion with what you get ...which ios a good breakfast.
Rooftop and lobby bars are amazing Design of the hotel was beautiful and extremely trendy
Hotel decor, nice room, central location No window to the outside from the room
Top notch for a European hotel in terms of cleanliness and design. The location is not ideal, but taxis were easy to come by. Architecturally it's stunning. The rooftop pool is subpar (tiny) and has woefully inadequate seating.
The hotel is very attractive, sleek and modern. The best feature is the location, just a short walk to Puerta Del Sol and tons of restaurants/tapas bars, and a pleasant walk to the Prado or the Palace Real. The desk staff were very helpful in identifying nearby restaurants and answering questions about Madrid. The bathroom amenities were outstanding, nice big towels and a great shower. Black out curtains and free internet were a big plus. Urban is very attractive and the rooms spacious by European standards, but ours on Floor 1 was very noisy. Not sure about the upper floors, but we heard everyone in the hallway, all the early morning preparations and the popular bar at night. The beds may be to European tastes, but far too firm for us - just a mattress on a platform. The breakfast was inappropriately expensive (a smaller, more affordable option - coffee, juice and croissants, perhaps?). We also missed being able to utilize some of the common spaces, esp. the roof terrace, due to many private functions. The desk staff were great but others seemed more interested in chic than service. This hotel is best suited for (much) younger people and business travelers.
Excellent Design. Great Location. Staff and Amenities. The bed wasn't very comfortable...and the sheets were like sand paper.
the service were very good +++ and very personalliti. and very near the center. the urban hotel desezin to my test. no.
the front off staf are really help us with a perfect way & the houes keeper are more than great, just need litel more in english some department need ,english for comunication
Every thing was really excellent .. The staff were really friendly helpful , great guidance , with a big smile .. Very modern hotel , very clean and the location was really perfect .. The breakfast was not included in the room rate not even an option when I did the booking so I can include it with the booking
The location is just off Gran Via Shower flooded as drainage was poor.
The location was excellent, the room looked as it does in the pictures and all the facilities worked, which is always a bonus! The staff were very nice too.
I liked the fact that there was a PC installed in my room.
The Location was very good, central and within 50m of Gran Via Metro stop. Excellent. I Also appreciated the fact that the hotel, even though located on a very busy street, was quiet and easy to sleep in. A VAT "inclusive" figure would be more beneficial in quoting rates as I was a little suprised at having to pay another 7% for my room... Also a radio/Hi-Fi would have been a very simple but welcome addition to the room (that or a faster broadband internet connection/more modern equipment to allow access to Internet radio etc.)
The staff was very friendly and most helpful. The location is great since it's very close to the Gran Via Metro station and conveniently located with respect to many of the wonderful tourist sights.
the hotel is in the middle of the city very handy for geting around the town , lots of places to eat and drink very close by the bathrooms are a bit odd with glass walls and doors .
Free Wifi was nice. Staff were OK
Location was very central for shopping and the sights. Breakfast buffet was great. This was the worst sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The noise from outside was unacceptable. Woken by drunken people and sirens until 4am and also the internal lift. I would never stay here again
I enjoyed the great location and wonderful accomodation.
The location is really great Too noisy
Room design was exactly I expected from photo. It had sitting area at few steps donw form bedding area, with sofa and coffee table wtih freash rose in the vase, gave more relaxing space after sightseeing in busy town. Hotel gives upscale/rustic/cosy feeling all together. Front desk personnel, porters, and door men were all nice. Location is great for sigtseeing and dining. A bar next to hotel was nice to visit for small drink or tea at late night too. Bathroom was clean but had a strong oddor (smell like sewer). Also, one day we were back to room duing day time to take a break from sighseeing, the noise from outside (from either roof or pipe repaire) was very loud. So we went back out to sightseeing.
DATED, ROOMS ARE LOUD, NO ISALATION CAN HEAR NEIGHBORS ON ALL SIDES AND CLEANING STAFF, THE BED WAS 2 MATTRESS PUT TOGETHER AND VERRY UNCOMFORTABLE, IM 5,10 AND MY FEET HUNG OFF THE END, ONCE INSIDE YOU FEEL LIKE A HOTEL FROM THE 70s THE DECORE IS OLD. THE BREAKFAST WAS AGOOD VALUE. OVERALL WE DID NOT ENJOY OUR STAY. MADE 2 PHONE CALL TO TRY AND GET A REFUND WITH NO SUCCESS, IT WAS SO BAD WE CHECKED OUT 1 DAY EARLY.
The friendly reception and needs all met in a straightforward way. We had a nice quiet room.
friendly staff. When I needed to call an ambulance for my husband who was unwell they were efficient and helpful a bigger restaurant for the evening would have been better.
The location and facilities are excellent. The staff, especially the front desk personnel, were great—very helpful and knowledge. Noise from other rooms and service vendors is a bit distracting in the evening. Breakfast in the restaurant is very nice but formal. it would be nice to also a venue that is simpler and more low key without the white linens
The location and friendliness of the staff was excellent.
Great view and beautiful suite on the 5th floor
the good location I was deeply disappointed by the size of the room, and the fact that it needed a good refurbishment. I felt I paid I very high room cost for something that didn't warrant it. My guide book had said the Villa Real was a deluxe hotel; perhaps I was just given the worst smallest room on the top floor.
only location next to del prado museum and park The hotel must be 3 or 4 star and doesnt look like 5 star and it is too expensive. The bathroom was small and terrible and after a shower water pours down, the WIFI too slow and only free for 1 hour.
It was a lovely hotel with a helpful staff. Great location across from the Prado Museum. You can walk to all attractions. The room was a great layout with a sitting area downstairs from the beds. Restaurant/Bar were excellent. Hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival. They have a free computer if you need the internet. They also provide a CD player in the room. Wish I purchased the CD of Spanish music. Would highly recommend this hotel.
location and its was realatively clean poor facilities no pool,no proper bar, limited seating in restaurant, staff didnt speak english and were not helpful
The welcome bottle of wine and flower and the fact that the maid service was efficient. No on site swimming pool.
hotel was close to the airport, which is why I picked it. I have stayed in another hi tech hotel in Madrid (Petit Palace Posada del Peine) which was very good. This hotel does not deserve 4 stars. The large letters "tech" on the roof did not light up, the bedside light didn't work properly and the shower had broken dials and the jets didn't work. Hardly "High Tech". The restaurant was booked by a group and we were told we would have to eat in the bar. Generally a lack of maintenance and care, maybe because most customers use the hotel as a stopover for the airport and only stay one night. Very very disappointing.
Chose it for just one night because it´s close to the airport. Great service, within 5 minuters after call the shuttle to the hotell arrived to terminal. Nice staff, nice rooms and bathroom, free internet and wifi. Great breakfast buffe. Never had time to try pool and other facilites. ---
close to the airport, free internet price/quality rooms were quite "worn out" restaurant was terrible shower did not work properly temp in the room was close to 30 °C and could only be modified from reception
It's realy close to the airport making it suitable for an early morning flight... not much else to say.
The price, the staff was very informative and a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The hotel was too far for me for sightseeing and museums
Close to airport. Not near anything, in middle of residential area next to highway. Beds not to comfortable and mattresses had some sag. Stayed in family room. Restaurant does not serve dinner until 2030.
Clean room, wi-fi free, close to the airport Shower doesn't working
hotel needs renovation. e.g. carpets in the hallways... shower is innovatiive but difficult to use. took me several minutes to figure it oout..
Great rooms and free internet access, laptops in rooms, excercise bike too which is great and different, also a great shower, breakfast and an ipod dock..also free shuttle bus, oh and food in restaurant was delicious NA
very clean, friendly staf and a good price, close to the feria
very close to an attractive street and metro&bus stops
i did not have a confortable stay at this hotel as the aircondition in my room was not working and the staff did not gave me a proper solution.
The desk clerk was nice and polite After staying in Europe for 2 weeks this was by far the worst and not worthy of 4 stars! It was old with a musty smell. The air conditioner did not work, the shower did not work, the third bed was broken. The walls outside the room looked terrible. It is bad need of updating
The most i liked about El Coloso was its location in the city. To me it seemed like a 3 star hotel. I expected a better quality.
the location is excellent it is rated as a 4 star but would not reach 3 stars in my book, the finish was not there. The staff however, was excellent, and the location great, but the quality of the room was substandard.
It is very convenient to the city centre. We returned to our room at 11.30 - check out was 12.00 noon, only to find the room was already locked.. not convenient, but matter was resolved quickly by the maid.
The location was excellent, metro nearby to connect to the airport (2 euro each way!) and the rest of the city and the hotel was in walking distance to shop and to visit different tourist sites. The location of the hotel felt very safe as there is a police station 2 doors down. Staff were very helpful with directions and queries about Madrid. In addition, we had a late flight the last day and the hotel kept our luggage till we needed it, allowing us to roam freely around Madrid for the last few hours! Brilliant service!! Would definitely recommend this hotel. Everything was great to be honest, a very very small thing would be the springs in the bed were noisy, making noise for every small movement even though the bed was actually comfortable. This was a bit annoying, but I would not let it allow it to undermine the hotels excellent features!
It was a quick and easy hotel, no problems at all and the building inside was stunning with a balcony opposite my friends flat. Couldnt have asked for a better hotel for what i needed. According to my parents, the nightclubs below provided a nice screaming band at 5 in the morning. But thats not the hotels fault i suppose! And the location is in the heart of the city so it is to be expected.
Very convenient for the metro and restaurants Very noisey during the night.
It is located in a street close to Gran Via, very close to the Palace and the city center. The rooms were quite ok, not very luxureous. Bedding good. Breakfast buffet was sumpteous and good. We stayed here in winter but the rooms were to warm at night and we couldn't sleep with the windows open because the street is quite noisy at night.
Value and comfort Noisy as they were repairing the building beginning of July
big and spacious room, helpful staff
Quality and cheap service. Near to the metro. 1- Breakfast. Just outside the hotel there are two bar/pub where have a good breakfast and eat. 2- After the reservation by booking.com, i have wrote two mail to the hotel (to require a silent room), they never answered
Good Location, friendly staff.
A nice hotel, central location, with a good transport line.
Very nice remodeled rooms Great location Staff and service was friendly and helpful Good air conditioning
We could smoke in the room. We were very close to the Palcia de deportes for concerts. The food at breakfast was poor.
Good location, easy to get to centre, metro and airport. Rooms are very basic for a 4 star property, and corridors are quite noisy in the morning. You need to ask for an extra pillow as the one in room is flat.
Broken bathroom furniture, peeling paint and no pool
It's good position
the location is good. the stuff is unfriendly and their attitude is kind of rude
The hotel and the room is very old..too old and there is no tea maker. It should be 3 starts...
Good location Think there should be a B & B rate too
Clean, fairly spacious rooms, interesting design elements, friendly & helpful staff, good location. A bit expensive but perhaps typical for the area; the fitness room was not very functional, with several machines not working.
Very clean rooms and excellent access to metro and city facilities. Very hot rooms and even on 8th floor we could her the disco beneath hotel
Location Impersonal service. Having to have our room keys reactivated every, single time we left the hotel and never receiving an apology from the staff for this continual inconvenience
good location very profesional staff
Very central, nice staff, and the rooms are clean, contemporary in design and functional. The lobby could use some more warmth and appeal.
Great location to Metro. Nice Size Bathroom.
convenient location, easy access from/to the airport, friendly and helpful staff, very good breakfast buffet
Cleanliness&location Superior rooms were not in my opinion the quality of a 4****hotel
The staff was amazing, ever helpful, polite, friendly, all the way down to the baggage guys. It was a bit noisy because of the disco below, had a room higher up but it didn't have a view of the street so my mom had us change. Otherwise excellent choice!
The beds were amazingly comfortable, the housekeepers were not only very amusing but extraordinarily nice. The hotel was insanely clean and had a very comfortable feel to it, as if a lot of fancy people had been through it over the years. The location is good, but not great, for accessing most of the touristy stuff in Madrid. But I found the Prado (directly beside the Ritz) to be horrifically overcrowded compared to some of the other museums like Sofia Reina just down the street. Note: Not really easy to access via metro, I'd recommend taking a taxi to/from. Take the following review with a grain of salt. I am a young person who grew up poor and wanted, for once, the "Ritz" experience: While I am a big fan of trying new things, I have to say that the Ritz experience just wasn't for me. I don't mean to be crass, but if I had a fistful of fives - I can think of a few places I'd rather spend it than tipping the endless stream of people trying to help me with things. Additionally, there is a little doll that you place on your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Note: Don't leave the doll up for very long, because if you do, they will call your room until you answer so that they can ask when the next time they can come in your room is. I nap maybe... 2-3 times per year at most, and I am severely irritated that they felt the need to call during my biannual nap to ask me when they can come in my room. Instead of changing my sheets 3X per day, how about leaving me the hell alone when I have my DO NOT DISTURB DOLL up? Perhaps I am not cut out for the lifestyle, but I don't want/need people treating me like a helpless child, yet simultaneously making me feel "lower" than they are. Every time I offered a "no thanks, I don't need a taxi, I'm walking" or walked into the hotel from the street, I received these weird looks of incredulity/disdain that I didn't particularly care for. When I brought my own luggage downstairs on checkout I absolutely horrified the front desk attendant. Why the need to treat people like this? I have no idea. My recommendation? Take the $500 per night you'd spend here for the standard room and split it in half. Take $250 / night to spend on some other hotel's suite. Take the other $250 and stick it back in your pocket.
Fantastic, we generally dont spend that much money for a hotel but after a terrible experience the night before, it was worth it!
Old world charm and location. Great lobby and dining rooms Room furnishings and hall carpets need refreshing
Hotel staff were fabulous ,location excellent As long as you dont mind a bit of faded grandeur and pink wardrobes an excellent choice
The pleasure that a very comfortable and opulent hotel can give. The reception rooms are magnificent and staff and service were excellent, as you would expect.
Staff was delightfully enthusiastic. Setting was beautiful!
I loved the hotel, the look of the outside and the entry. The service is not what I have experienced at other Ritz hotels. The rooms were dated.
We liked this hotel very much, luxury. Staff was very polite, we arrived 13 p.m., check in should be 14 p.m., we were offered to wait 20 minutes and offered drinks free of charge. In room we also found compliments, it's very nice, when you arrive. Buffet breakfast costs 30 eur per person.
The room The location The general ambience We reserved a room with breakfast thru 'get a room' and surprised to see that it was not a buffet breakfast!!! for getting the buffet breakfast we needed to add some more money.... Not all the recommendations of the concierges were good, sometimes it seemed like they recommended places that they had personal interests/connections in.
The location, comfort and style. We stayed at the hotel 7 days and the 4th day we had to ask to vacuum the room. Only one arm chair fitted into the small room we had. Cleaning inconsistent. Not much selection at breakfast even when it was very expensive.
lovely style and comfort, great location. no breakfast
The location was ideal. We took the option of DLs room which offered a jacuzzi and terrace however, the room was smaller than expected for the price. The use of poetry was personal and we liked the use of natural flooring to give a modern contemporary feel. The reception area didnt do justice to the hotel. The breakfast was overpriced for what was offered.
Location, Design, Bar Staff, Bathrooms, Room Size Check-In Staff Rude, THEY HAVE NO ON SITE PARKING (Site Lies) - expect to walk your bags at least 1/2 mile or more. Beds on floor.
Located right at the centre. Helpful staff. Nice room and bathroom. The main street is very noise, evening time especially; a better soundproof windows would be a great help.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, especially when compared against other standard rooms typically found in European Hotels. Cool, more modern decor, in a romantically old but well-restored building. Lobby is small and off-putting as a first impression- makes you nervous the hotel won't be nice; when in reality the rooms and lounge are quite nice and fun!
Apart from the obvious location, the feeling and the decoration of the room and the size of the bathroom were both great. It is a hotel with high standards. The spa/fitness room was under refurbishment during our stay, so we couldn't use the facilities.
The staff were very helpfull and the cleanliness of the hotel was excellent The lighting in the room could be a bit better but not a major problem
The room was lovely and in a good central location. The restaurant/bar area were badly run. The staff were not well trained and the services were chaotic, especially at breakfast. We also tried to eat an evening meal there as well, and waited an hour for a course. Then the food arrived barely cooked. Other guests made formal complaints to management but it didn't improve. The rest of the hotel was very good.
Staff was friendly, helpful and spoke English. Website led us to believe there was an exercise room with sauna and hot tub. However these items were only available as part of various spa treatments for which one would have to pay.
The desk personnel were very courteous, helpful and attentive. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The room we had was on Grand Via and it was exceedingly noisy all night.
I loved staying in De Las Letras. The staff was wonderful. Ana was very helpful with her restaurant recommendations and she doing reservations for us. She also recommended a nice outlet stores and they picked us at the hotel and brought us back at no cost. The stay was wonderful.
Beautiful hotel with nice amenities, a comfortable bed, stunning city views, and a great central location. Easy to walk to most major highlights and the metro station is only 1/2 a block away for anything not walkable. Would love to stay here again. Restaurant closed during middle of day. Rooftop lounge closed during my stay.
The room was comfortable and always clean. A/C worked well. Nice shops right below hotel in public transportation center.
Central location and rate
room was clean, breakfast huge, very good location in business quarter noise from street, noise from inside of the hotel (shower, toilets from other rooms), cleaner comming in the room at about 8 o'clock
Check in was easy. Web-site was easy. Internet access was good. Check out was efficient. Staff were friendly although language was an issue but we could communicate effectively anyway. Location was very noisy. Kids blowing up fireworks outside and partying in the street. Not the hotels fault but still made it hard to sleep. If any real criticism it would be that in comparison to the usual 5-star hotels this one was not the most pretty I've ever stayed in but for Europe it was more than adequate.
The staff were more than willing to help with questions and provide extra service.
I needed a location near the Chamartin train station. I would only recommend this hotel if you need to be near the Chamartin train station. Aside from that, the hotel is far from the center, very basic, a bit shabby for the price and utterly impersonal.
lovely friendly environment with easy access to any kind o transport especially metro, train 2 times we asked for wake up call at a certain time. 1st time we didn't receive a wake up call, 2nd time it was late 1/2 an hour.
The hotel has a very good location. You just come out of the metro or train, and it's there. Only 3 stops from Bernabeu Stadion if you are interested in football. We expected more from a 4 star hotel, but for the price it was ok. It was not so clean. The room needed some vacumcleaning and fresh air.
Travel convenience. Located above a major train and metro hub. Early accessible. If on business not appropriate to receive clients. Rooms were very noisy between construction going on at the hotel and the rooms not being carpeted. Way too noisy
Location right at the train and metro station. In 20 min you are in the center of town. The staff does not speak any other languets as Spanish not even the reception.
Location to railway station No access directly from the street
Although somewhat noisy (front room in hotel) beds were very comfortable, breakfast was catered for all nationalities, parking under hotel and was very easy to park. There was no extractor fan in bathroom, and importantly, the front of house staff, doormen and reception staff were quite standoffish and in some cases surly.
the "pay" breakfast was great! wifi only available for purchase...all other hotels I stayed in while in Spain offered free wi-fi
loved the wiev and the bath!
nice bathrooms it is in a out of the way area, and there are no real hotel amenitites for the price. he staff treated people like they were not important. Also, so many tour busses made the regular guests feel sidelined. There were wires hanging from the cielings and constant repairs, but they did not do anzthing to make people feel better about the "construction" atmosphere.
The room was really clean and comfortable The location of the hotel wasn't so good and we had to walk for fifteen minutes to the metro station
This is a low price hotel with good standard. It's approx 10 minutes to walk to the subway. There are a bus stop just outside the hotel. The bus takes you to the subway in approx 4 minutes. There are new buses every 5-17 minutes (dependant on time of day). The hotel has thin walls, so you might want to bring earplugs in case you get a room close to loud persons.
The room was cozy and tidy. Far from subway stations, but quite ok when know alternative connections or don't mind some walking.
We were happy to know that we could open the windows to let fresh air in. They provided plenty of shampoo and body wash. As soon as we walked in, we could smell that stale smoking smell. I initially thought we must have gotten a smoking room, but no, it just smells like that. We only needed a single bed and they gave us a room with 3 twin beds, my boyfriend and I ended up sleeping separate. The free wifi signal was extremely low that neither one of us could use it in the room. Definitely wasn't a memorable stay.
buiding work going on in hotel found it very un safe
I did not stay really long as i was just overnighting and leaving early next day but I found hotel very good and once I will be back I will stay again.Service was good and room is very clean and comfortable.I recomend it to others.
the bed was 2 small ones beaten, that was inconvenient. we need queen or king size bed
If you are planning to visit the art museums - Prado, Reina Sophia, Thyssen Bornemisza - this is the best place to stay, all three are within ston throw from the hotel. Aso the area is very nice, a lot of taverns and restaurants t pick from. The hotel is relatively new, and the rooms are very nice and well designed. The only complaint is the partition walls must bextrememly thin and with not enough isolation, you can hear every movement in the neighbouring rooms
Near Paseo de Prado, really close to all major museums and rest attractions. Noice could be heard through the walls. The cleaning ladies were making too much noice in the morning.
The central location of this hotel enabled a perfect introduction to Madrid's cultural offerings as the main museums are within walking distance along with a good variety of characterful bars and restaurants.
the location is perfect, staff polite & attentive, nice rooms,
The hotel was clean and in a great and central location. Close to the Prado Museum. Breakfast starts late: Early risers or those needing to get on the road early shouldn't waste their money on including breakfast.
Quite central to tourist locations and not on a main road
comfortable hotel with facilities suitable for our visit. Excellent location. THere was nothing that I didn't like.
Its location and closeness to tapas bars No formal restuarant
EXcellent location close to major attractions and major roads and shopping. Free internet wired service a plus. Friendly staff. Overall good value for the money. TV didn't work and even though I complaint about it, nothing was done...anyway the tv channels offerings were poor. The internet connection in my daughter's room wasn't working...probably delayed maintenance overall.. Breakfast expensive for the quality and service received, but plenty of places around it.
Location. Definately not the 4 star hotel. Don't know why some people give high points to this hotel in reviews. Urgently needs renovation. No sound -proofing at all, you can hear all the noises inside the hotel. TV programs are very tricky - be carefull not to get caught for pay TV. Breakfast is too expensive. They have old key system and require to leave that key at the front desk. High minibar prices. Wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you need hostel accomodation at hotel price, which make no sence.
Cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of the staff! Mini bar was a bit pricey...
Personel are very helpful and the location, close to the metro, is very good. The hotel was noisy, you could hear the neighbours and the AC.
the agradable ambient, decoration, room comfort, choise of pillows it was not possible to stop taxis in front of the main entrance, very desconfortable because of the luggages,
The design of the hotel is really good, and up-to-date. The room is not really sound proof, and I could smell smoke inside my room. The door did not isolate correctly.
far from the center but you have the subway right in front of the hotel
The Bar across the street n/a
They were friendly and accomodating, location was very good
The ac was not working. As we arrived to check-in the receptionist wasn't friendly. The hotel did not have a pool. They gave us double beds but they were put together as if it was a king size. Suppose if two people men don't want to sleep in the same bed? They charged me for laundry service and did not tell me how much in the beginning. I just asked for an iron. Parking for charged at an outrageous price (maybe this is in the whole city like that)...
Nice price and well located (in city center) and very good Hotel. Rooms too small.
Located in in central Madrid and very close to the Metro-this place is great value-the room was very comfortable-I would stay here again...
very nice & clean rooms Internet didnt work, some noice from room upstairs
Helpfulness of front desk staff
Close to train station. Dining room operator spoke english.
Check-in was very fast and when asked to get another room (wanted one with a view) was given a better one rapidly. room was very clean and comfortable and front desk staff was extremly helpful! Takes 1015 min. walk from Atocha and if one travells with luggage it might be difficult to walk all the way.
Great location if you are catching an early train from Altocha Station. Very smart and very large rooms. Main road - quite noisy. Not that warm - heating not very user-friendly.
The location is great, near the most important sites of Madrid, near the train station and metro. Staff attitude
This was a pleasure: a spacious room, comfortable & clean and nicely positioned for seeing Madrid. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the hotel lifts were efficient. N/A
The AC Carlton is located very close to Madrid's Atocha Railway Station, making it a handy choice for those travelling on the high speed AVE train. Our superior room was modern, well-designed, spacious, comfortable and clean with all necessary amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was of a higher standard than most. We found the several steps on entry from street to reception area inconvenient for hauling our heavy luggage. This is a minor point, but installation of a ramp or similar would be an improvement.
steet noise from heavy traffic, despite very good double glazing.
The decore in the room. Wifi was not free.
location: in the center of city, near the subway The room is clean and it has a big bathroom the lobby is small
