The manager was very friendly and helpful. The location is good, away from the central bustle and noise of central Pelourinho but near enough to fall part of it. The outside areas of the Pousada are very nicely maintained, with a good sized smimming pool and lawn area. My rook was spotlessly clean, with air conditioning, TV and fridge. A very relaxing place to stay.
I was given a room with a balcony and view! Staff really helpful. Maybe more local products for breakfast.
great location, good breakfast with fresh fruits and juices. comfortable pool, the manager Glauber Cayres was extremely helpful in english. It is close to the old city which is great, but can be a little noisy...
Excellent location and quality of staff, very helpful and going out of their way to please guests. My son visited while we were there and he was treated like family! Not really !
everything I loved it, people were fantastic, so friendly. The location is great. Amazing views of the historical center, and still really near by. Yummy breakfast!
Nice people, clean elegant place near the Pelourhino. Good internet service. 5% discount when paying cash.
Very close to old quarter, Pelourinho. Staff very friendly helpful about places of interest and where not to go. Good advice about safety of tourists. Casual eating area with great view of old city, and pleaseant good sized pool.Recent renovations will enhance the reception areas and accommodation. Room we had booked wan't available due to renovations. Staff very apologetic and reduced the booked price. Standard double rooms a little small and air conditioner was noisy.
This was a great place to stay in Salvador! It is very close to the Pelourinho, which has busses that run to the rest of the city. I felt very safe here (as safe as one can feel in Salvador), and the staff was able to help us in both English and Portuguese. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was great!
Very nice hitel, well situated, great for carnaval because close to the attractions but still far enough to get some rest
Everything was really good except that the hostel did not offer us the room that we booked. We were downgraded since the hostel double-booked our room. Having said that, we got a discount and the rest of our stay was excellent.
Very beautiful Design Hotel for individual stay, fantastic breakfast and excellent service. The staff is very friendly. We liked it very much.
Owner collected me from the airport and confirmed he would do this both by text and e mail. Breakfast very good staff nice all round good service. Perfect for me as I arrive late PM and leave Am the next day. Not sure if you want to stay to look at Salvador you may want to stay closer to city, However interesting hotel in a quite location
Rolf, the owner was a 110% star. Nothing was too much trouble.
This is one of the wonderful Dream Hotels for individual Tourists, very beautiful ambience and room decoration, here you can really feel the authentic brazilian flair, and I enjoyed the unforgettable fantastic breakfast.
the owner could not have been more helpful,he picked us up from the airport..dropped us at a restaurant for dinner, picked us up..and the following day, dropped us off at the airport for our flight,at minimal cost. the reason for choosing this hotel, was its proximity to the airport, for our early morning flight the area was a bit remote to restaurants, it reminded me of a ryad in morrocco...wonderful when you get through the door, but difficult to find if you are in a taxi..which we didn,t have to take, as the owner drove us everywhere. The beds could have been better, but all facilities were catered for,and excellent air-con,and ceiling fans
Very beautiful, very different, very amazing ambience, excellent service, the room and all the hotel very clean. This is a very special place. We will come back!
Liked the owner who was very helpful. The area is really spooky.
This hotel is one of the most beautiful for individual travellers I have ever seen, ideal located in a real authentic brazilian ambience, close to the airport, close to beautiful beaches, and the service is excellent, fantastic breakfast, friendly personal, many thanks, we will come back!
Very beautiful hotel for individual holidaymakers, very friendly staff and very comfortable stylish accommodation, and the breakfast was absolutely the best we ever had. Thanks a lot for the happy holiday
Only one person to take care of the services to the customers
A uniquely restored historic building that respects very well the original setting without missing a modern edge.
Beautiful hotel in the old centre of Salvador, with all the comfort you want. Nice outdoour area for lounging, good bar, nice swimming pool, all set in the beautiful garden of the old convent. The dinner at the restaurant was not that special as one should expect regarding the prices they charge for dinner.
Stunning building with stylish interior design. Decent restaurant with a a good maitre d'. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms a little dark.
The Convent is really nice Not the hotel but th city of Salvador is not in best conditions
A dear friend recommended this hotel - it is a beautifully remodeled building reminiscent of traditional colonial homes. The tile work throughout is amazing. It has two small, charming patios, a lovely reception area, and a delightful breakfast room. We stayed in a two-level apartment with handsome wooden stairs and furniture that was quite comfortable. The staff were absolutely marvelous. It's rather far from the historical center of Salvador - but that area can be reached by taxi and would be best enjoyed with a guide or local.
Good location, well designed and maintained. At last the street viewing rooms are terribly loud.
A small hotel with few people, so quiet. Fresh place in a nice area out of center but alive. Not all the staff at the reception is friendly, though all of did their work
Its a historical hotel. Not in a bad location. location and accessebility were diffcult
Friendly staff, good location for Rio Vermelhio bohemian neighborhood, good restaurants around and simple local places to have beer and listen to music in the evening. A little expensive for the level of the hotel.
The room was recently renovated, confortable and clean. The breakfast was great. There was a huge variaty of fruits, salad, breads, juices ... The pool was also reasonably good. Internet connection was weak and not stable in the room. The minibar and the restaurant were overpriced.
The staff was friendly. The overall grounds were nice . The air quality in the room was poor. It smelled musty all the time despite turning on AC. Opening the window was a welcomed relief. In addition the room charge was done upon check in which was unusual.
I wasn't really there long enough to say, since I was only one night, but the clerk was very nice and the soaking tub was pleasant. I like to make the room cold and have a blanket, so something more than a sheet for the bed would have been nice.
Design hotel. Room looked great. Staff was very nice. 2 blocks away from the beach only. A little far from downtown and the historic center but only a R$20/R$25 taxi ride away (about 15 minutes).
The design of the hotel and the restaurant.
Nice and friendly staff, nice pool and nice options of breakfast. The english skills could have been better for a couple of members of the staff. Further, the breakfast lady didn`t seem to enjoy the early hours very much.
Big room, however, it was unclear about the equipment of the room when booking, I was expecting a room with a batthub but apparently this was an upgrade At arrival, the hotel was no less than a club with extremely high music until 22:00, don't know about other guests, but I go to hotels to rest, not to party. At request of turning the music down I was completely ignored.
Nice staff, comfortable bed.... None to speak of.... a bit more english speaking staff would be helpful but they do their best.
Nothing The chief of the hotel made a party with african drums and it was very load . I made an international flight from frankfurt to salvador and my wife was not able to sleep. Only after 3 am it was possible. The restaurant closed 8:30 pm because of this party. I am surprized because this hotel has 4 stars. I stayed in other hotel with 4 stars and it was a great difference. The breakfast was simple.
Close to the beach and a lot of great spots. Amazing staff. Always trying to help and very friendly.
The staff was great! Natalia and Rodrigo helped us book tours and were overall, extremely friendly. The breakfast was delicious.
excellent cute small hotel, great and helpful staff, wonderful big and diverse breakfast, very nice layout, hammocks and sofas in the lounge downstairs. we were very happy to stay there and will definitely recommend it. 5 minutes to the beach and 10 to the big shopping centre, lots of local restaurant nearby. Barra is a much better area to stay in Salvador vs. the historical centre. we found the room without the balcony pretty basic, but the bathroom was huge and that compensated fully. great value for money.
location is great, 5 min walk to beach and busses to any locations, very nice and helpfull staff, great breakfast nothing i can think about
good breakfast, friendly stuff, very good location
the breakfast was awesome, and the personal was really nice. I would recommend it to anyone.
The situation Our room was "monastic", without any confort details. I think the price was so excesive for this accomodation; may be other rooms are better.
The familiarity Payed internet; the rooms don't have a safe deposit box; the rooms need some maintenance
Very friendly and accomodating staff, excellent breakfasts There were a couple of issues with the room - just needed a bit of maintenance more than anything, but there were some suspect looking electrics
the staff is polite and gives you all the information and the attention a guest needs. The position is good just close to the "farol" and beaches and restaurants. It's safe and well connected to the center.
Nice Pool, Location and Facilities Maid would take old towels and not replace. Front Desk translator got a pizza which I paid for through some questionable deal.
We only stayed overnight, arrived late, left early. Next time around we will stay longer, for sure.
Quite convenient location if you want a mix between a city break and beach holiday in Salvador. Clean and spacious rooms. Small but nice pool, gym and massage on offer. You can book a very good boat trip to the islands in Bahia bay in the hotel reception. This is a hotel mainly used by Brazilians, so not much English spoken. Staff not always helpful - we had booked 2 rooms but only 1 room was ready for us. Nearby beach is small and hard to access from hotel. If you want to eat/drink in the Pelourinho it tends to be a pricey taxi ride.
nice pool area/views, comfortable rooms the restaurant did not have a lot of atmoshere
I loved the view from our room and also the breakfast buffet had a good selection of various dishes and the staff working the breakfast buffet were all very pleasant. Housekeeping was not the best..when I walked on the floor with bare feet they picked up dirt..also one day we left the green light on to clean the room, returned some 12 hours later very tired and the room has not been cleaned. The explanation was that the cleaning staff saw the light and just thought it was red. Anyway, the room was cleaned somewhat about 10pm while we had to wait in the lobby. Please..even an apology and an offer or a drink while we had to wait!!
The rooms and the breakfast were good and the lobby was very good (spacious and well maintained). They had a viewing room for the World Cup games. The view of the beach was good. When I booked, the booking said Wifi was available everywhere and free. When I got there it wasn't free in the rooms (only in the lobby) but I was told that since I used Booking.com (via Kayak), it would be free. I had to go every night and have them give me access to wifi in the room (instead of providing it for my 5 days in one shot). They tried to charge me for it at the end of the stay but I didn't pay for it writing a note explaining that my booking confirmation stated it was for free. The location was not too safe at night.
Great ocean view, nice pool and good location just outside the citycenter. Poor english speaking of staff and they work slow
Rooms were comfortable and the staff was very caring and helpful. Breakfast was the best part of the stay. Though I was on a non-smoking floor, one of the guests smoked continuously and the smell of his smoke was annoying. The hotel staff needs to enforce the non-smoking rules.
Perfect location and view Noisy (bad sound isolation between rooms)
everything especially the staff were very pleasant
Very large room with modern furniture. Immaculately clean. No noise from the corridor or the street. a nice pool with a good view of the sea. Breakfast buffet had a wide choice and good quality. Many members of staff spoke no English or Spanish at all, even to the point of not even understanding a room number. Not really anything nearby, no beach, no restaurants and not even an atm.
We thought the rooms were lovely and the staff helpful and the breakfast excellent We wanted to use the sauna but it wasn't working unfortunately
nice room with view over sea terrible food. No choice inrestaurant for evening meal a la carte - only the grande buffet.
Friendly staff, antique type furnishings, excellent location in the most picturesque part of Salvador, delicious breakfast. Good wifi connection. Occasional loud music from outside, although not fault of hotel. Somewhat dim lights in room.
Best Hotel in Bahia! Location No 1! Interior Design No 1! Service and Food No 1!
The location and ambience of the Hotel Villa Bahia are exceptional. The rooms are large and elegant and one feels as if they are truly living a moment in the past...but with very comfortable ammenities! The staff is multi-lingual and very helpful. I enjoyed the first moment of our stay to the last! Awesome, truly!
extremely helpful front staff was excellent for recommendations on food, tourism, and local events.....specifically, "Jefferson" was amazing! nothing......loved it all and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the historic part of Salvador
Beautiful antique colonial design, very large room (luxury room), staff very helpful. Wireless Internet didn't work in the room because of some kind of special security protocol on the second floor only. Had to go to reception area to connect with a normal protocol. Internet being very important to me, I had to change hotels, since the hotel staff didn't really understand what to do.
The restaurant, the reception and the character of the rooms
Superb location. The best breakfasts of our trip. Lovely bedrooms. Very good restaurant. Really, really recommend it. Nothing
The Hotel Villa Bahia is housed in what was originally two adjoining houses one XVII century the other XVIII century. It is beautifully furnished with antiques and antique copies. It is located in the heart of Pelourinho, the historic disrtic of Salvador and a great starting point for explorations of this remarkable neighborhood so rich with cultural treasures. Irecommend it highly.
the atmosphere/feeling you get at the hotel - warm bahia style.Nice selection of local furniture/decoration. fyi- the reception staff are French english speaking. Very friendly people . Nice boutique hotel. price premium compared to other hotels
ocean view room/restaurant . Large size room. no free intesnet.staff can't speak english.
Pool, Courtesy of Staff, Security, Food Quality Would like some better oatmeal for breakfast
Hotel swimming pool was out of use.
It is located at a safe place. The price is good and the service is also satisfying.
Its in a decent beach front location where you can walk in Barra neighborhood, and short taxi ride to Pelourinho. Views from the rooms are stunning. Breakfast was excellent. It's old and worn out....no wi-fi in rooms, just wired. You may not be able to close your door in the room, so wind will be blowing throughout the night. Bring earplugs, just in case...
Vista Café da manhã , , as 9:40 não faziam questão de atender e falavam q já estava terminando o café da manhã , muito caro custo beneficio
The helpfulness of the front desk staff and restaurant staff. The pool was in excellent condition.
Excellent value for money. The food is good (breakfast is a must!). The staff is very kind. Excellent hotel.
The room was really good. Super comfortable and clean. The staff is great, a bit slow, but very polite, pacient and responsive. They provide towels for the pool and the beach. The location is not the best if the idea is to enjoy a nearby beach. The beach by the hotel is not good.
The staff of this hotel was great--everyone was friendly and did all they could to ensure a pleasant stay. In particular, the woman with the short dark hair at reception was especially helpful and her perfect English was comforting (certainly my travel weary tourist Portuguese was a bit worse for wear after our long terrible flight!). Food was good too and the lobby bar was convenient and we loved our lovely waitress. The hotel is in really weird area. Lots of high rises and a lot of people who work in the high rises--a lot of wealth disparity. The beach is kind of skeevy--there was always some guy sleeping on the rocks. Its in the middle--between Rio Vermelho and Barra--but that doesnt mean it has the best of both. I'd choose one or the other. Don't be fooled by the photos--the pool's nice but it isnt a resort. It really needs a major renovation and it may have been going through one while we were there--it looked like lots of things were in the middle of being painted and the weather wasnt helping move things along. Also a staff member told me the fitness center was not open. It's not a bad place though--it's quiet and staff and food are great.
The location was the best part of the stay. The staff makes this a five star hotel, but the place needs a major facelift. No ambience at all. The breakfast area was dirty and the food was bad.
Excellent ratio quality/cost. Nice view on the ocean. Good restaurants, and nice spa facilities.
The Bathroom was not clean, the room was not made up when we returned from Citytour at 2 pm.The Account was not right, but staff was aware that there was a problem with the System. There have been Items on the Account what we not had, like Tonicwater, double Food, couvercharge for sitting on the Bar for 1/2 hour.
I liked my wiev from the window its just briliant....
the view from the hotel room was superb. when you go from your room towards the elevator you have fantastic view and nice relaxing music. the pool staff were great.
view from the hotel room there were some small insects in bathroom and also room furniture. hotel is not an actual 5 stars according to European standards
The view was great... It is very difficult to have friends visit you at the hotel whether an your suite or by the pool.
Great views, nice big room, great value, good location for the city centre and business areas. Corridor carpet on the 20th floor was stained and dirty. Bathroom needed some refurbishment.
There no free wi-fi, as it was notes on booking.com, internet costs 15br+taxes and works awful. All rooms have see view and little balkony. Breakfast is on the top floor with nice view also. Room was comfortable.
It was cheap and close to where I needed to be. Breakfast was really skimpy compared to other hotels I've been to in Brazil. A/C would drip after a little while due to condensation, and at night that would cause it to "drizzle"into the room. There was only one hair drier for the whole hotel!!! The doors make a really loud noise to close, so if you are a light sleeper you might be in for a (bad) surprise.
Hotel was clean and housekeeping was immaculate. Reception staff very helpful. Hotel is located a short taxi ride from tourist area in all directions
The location is good and on a bus route.. so its easy to get around. The shower was great! Hot and lots of pressure.. the cheapness of it all.. everything is economized...
The only good thing was breakfast in the hotel.
Nice htel at great value
size and comfort of bed; quality and diversity of breakfast could use a refurbishment, mostly because one can hear when other guests flush toilets or make noise.
The atention at the recepcion, internet free, good breakfast, a very good gym. A better golf course, I never play a hole starting at the middle. But the caddy and the starter where very kind with me.
The bed and the shower golf course in very bad conditions...wouldn't call it a golf course at all !!
Very expensive to use the computer for emails. It should be free!!!!
Hotel is quiet and relaxing with an excellent lunch buffet. Proximity to airport was the deciding factor. We had a late arrival and an early departure from Salvador. The common areas (lobby, bar etc.) were unnecessarily over air conditioned. When the external temperature is 23-25C with a sea breeze cooling to 18-20C was uncomfortable and unnecessary. While the location is convenient to the airport, reaching the primary business areas of the city can take an hour each way with traffic.
the beach area was a lot of fun. the hotel is located in a safe area. the people and staff are very nice. great place to stay with kids. the wifi is not good.
The view from the public spaces....panoramic The rooms were shabby to dingy and not very comfortable. The sheets were made of polyester and did not fit the bed; they were unfitted.....by morning one was sleeping on the mattress. The bathrooms were dingy
