Prós: Space, seats, movies.
Contras: I was on a seat at the end, after my seat, the stewardess had their closet and they kept hitting (very strongly) the back of my seat with the door, all the time. They woke me up several times. So not good.
Prós: The crew and food was amazing, with ample entertainment selections.
Contras: Seats. For some unknown reason, JAL uses different seats on this 787-8 flight from NRT-SAN that's 2-3 inches less in pitch than all of their other planes. This was not comfortable on a 9-hour+ flight. The flight attendants also woke us up everytime food was served so we could recline up seats.
Prós: JAL lounge at Haneda was the best I've ever been in. The Business Class configuration is terrific -- as private as can be on an airplane, without going First. And the JAL staff, on the ground as well as in the air, are Grade A diplomats, counselors, and -- in a word -- professionals. Which is sorely lacking in US air carriers, who don't seem to understand that air travel is a service industry, and to excel in a service industry, PEOPLE are most important to the customers. Specifically, having enough people: US airline employees are well-trained professionals too, but "corporate" consistently under-hires/deploys, which leaves employees juggling far too much at once, which degrades the service experience for the customer. Yeah, I get "the bottom line," but service industry customers will always go to businesses that offer better service. Ok, rant over. JAL is tops.
Contras: Security and Immigration at Tokyo Haneda is harder than at US airports, but that's to be expected and nothing that JAL can control.
Contras: justfly is really terrible, tried calling everyday 4 days before my flight because my flight was cancelled, i requested a reroute, i was told it is referred to an offline agent. no body called so i had to call back and was told the same story for 3 days, so requested a refund still the same nobody calls or email. this is really a of test of the agency, they failed miserably... i will post my experience in fb
Prós: The coach seats were larger than seats for domestic flights. The windows were dimmable for optimal lighting.
Contras: The armrests did not go up all the way, which made it difficult to maximize comfort with my travel partner.
