I specifically called Air France prior to the flight to make sure I won’t have any issues as my 1st flight was operated by Delta and I wanted to confirm the luggage requirements were the same. My carry-on weighted only 5 kilos. I was extremely upset the way I was treated w/ the boarding agent behind the counter in Prague. On the top of that, her and the supervisor were very rude to my mom as they told her she had an extra carry-on which wasn’t the case. She traveled w/ a small briefcase where her mask for sleep apnea was. This is not considered an additional carry-on. The boarding agent (Czech lady and her supervisor) were not only rude but obviously lacked knowledge as well. My carry-on suitcase would easily fit in the overhead bin plus there was plenty of space inside the plane as it the flight wasn’t completely full."

Contras: "With the main meal, AF serves only "ordinary wine", This looks and tastes cheap. On the same route and class, Vietnam Airlines serves premium wines, a nice touch that would not cost fortunes to AF! Also, the "Asian" choice for the main course did not look and taste like the real thing."

Contras: "Boarding was a complete debacle - no control over who went where. Sky Priority line was full of 50 people who weren't Sky Priority, and there was only one person checking passports. The two people at the desk didn't care when I noted this. We were called to the desk in advance of boarding to check passport information. When we got to the check in line, we were taken aside for more passport checking, even though we are US citizens with Trusted Traveler status in the GOES program. We were one of the first people at the departure lounge, and one of the the last to board."
Contras: "Each time the space in this planes is smaller. Surprising, it was very hot all the time."

There's like 6 of these and they're taken immediately. - Normal (middle of the plane): are you kidding me? These are NORMAL seats and you charge an extra €30? - Normal (2 seats per row!): what a bargain. Same crappy seats, but two people instead of three! This is really worth my money. - Upgrade to business! Why are you so poor! AF food went from being the best in international flights to disgusting microwave food (especially vegetarian)."

Prós: "there were problems getting the tickets issued in Rome. the worker at checkin kept us for 20 minutes without telling us what was going on. the flight left the gate on time, but then we sat for an hr before leaving. no information was given as to why the flight attendants were rude. after landing we sat for an hr on the runway waiting for a gate to be available."
Prós: "I was too tired to stay awake so I slept most of the flight. The ground crew at the checking booth was kind enough to provide me with an aisle seat to accommodate my long legs, from which I suffer if I would sit in a middle seat."

But the most disappointing thing is the fact is that they LOST BOTH OF MY LUGGAGE BAGS, and the most they could offer me is $50 compensation (my belongings worth thousands of dollars) And even this I would have to claim from my “home country” which is completely unreasonable as my home country isn’t the one lost my luggage, the airlines had! Beyond shocked, disappointed and aggravated, this was my first time flying this airlines and I promise you it’s the last. Won’t recommend to anyone."

Contras: "The flight was delayed for hours in Delhi with no notice, making us spent the night at the airport. The flight was supposed to get to Abidjan around noon, but because of the delay, we missed the connection and the next available flight was the next day which would mean I missed my next flight and a work conference. In Delhi, the Ethiopian Airlines people assured me that it could be worked out in Addis, and that they could change my final destination to get me where I needed to go. However, in Addis, the employees were rude and did not even read the email that the Delhi people sent them. They would not do anything except send me to Abidjan the following day, which was useless since I already had to be in the US by then. The level of service is incredibly poor and disorganized, with many people having to wait for hours to even talk to someone and no information about what needs to be done. In the end, i had to purchase a new ticket to get to my destination. Had I known this was the case in Delhi, and that i would have to purchase a new ticket, I would have done so in Delhi rather than waiting all night and going to Addis. I fly very often and this is both the worse experience and service I’ve ever experienced on a flight, and they weren’t even able to get me to my destination."

Whenever I needed to use the restroom they locked us out a lot whether for head count or re fueling."

Contras: "The arrangement of the airport was disconcerting. To get to your gate you have to pass a another security point that you can not leave. The area was akin to a cattle yard. No bathroom, water, or amenities. You had to stay in your pen until boarding. Duty free was not allowed and had to be purchased on the plane for an additional cost. Not to mention the whole stopping in Dublin, Ireland for fuel without notice. There was nothing in my paperwork about it and we were only told to stay in our seats for the next hour or so while they refueled. We didn’t do that on the flight over was that was worrying and we were given no additional information."

Contras: "The experience from the airport to the plane to Lome was beyond troubling. If ever you are flying internationally from NYC, never fly from Newark New Jersey. Nevertheless, upon boarding the Ethiopian Airline flight to Lome that was supposed to depart at 9:15 pm, the courtesy of the flight attendants was a bit mundane. My mother and I sat on the plane for about an hour after the time of the depart before inquiring why we have no moved and the doors were closed. The flight attendant responded with, "We shall be moving shortly." The air conditioner was barely on. My mother is battling stage 3 Cancer and is an older woman so, I feared for the safety of her health in such a condition. About 30 minutes passed, and we inquired again. This time with a different flight attendant and she said she just did not know what was going on. Other people on the plane began to panic in a sense as well because like my mother and I, they too had a connecting flight to catch. The pilot did not inform the passengers of what was occurring. So, at this point, all passengers on flight ET509 had been sitting on the plane for an hour and a half. By the time we were sitting on the plane for 2 HOURS with the doors closed the pilot finally informed us that they were waiting for some paperwork. He did not apologize or give more information as to why we were sitting on the plane so long, with practically no AC, and weren't informed about when we would be pulling off. About 10 minutes later, the plane began backing up while people were still standing because they were restless with the wait especially when we had a 10-hour flight ahead of us. The pilot then got on the loudspeaker stating that we will be pulling in the air shortly and for the flight attendants to be seated. The pilot did not apologize for the inconvenience or state how long the flight would be or what time we would land in Lome, Togo. Once we were in the air, there were many safety hazards administered by both the crew and pilot. The seat belt safety information was not given, the exit areas in case of emergency were not discussed, what to do in case of an emergency, where certain equipment would be in case of illness or an emergency, and we were still not informed about the cause of the 2 hours and 15-minute delay. My mother and I consistently checked the flight tracker and it did not show the duration of our flight, our location while flying, no flight information was displayed and as hard working paying passengers we should have had all of the information and not have to continuously ask to get a slight answer. Also, I am a vegan and they did not have food for me. But there was a flight attendant who gave me extra fruit which I greatly appreciated. The flight coming back to Newark was decent, going was the major issue. I pray we are accommodated for these great inconveniences. Because to have spent almost $3,000 and receive this type of treatment is both saddening and disturbing to me."

Prós: "When I originally booked this trip it was with one connection and a 16 hour commute time. They added legs to my trip which significantly increased travel time. I tried to cancel my flight because I booked the flight with the necessity of arriving by specific days and times and they insisted on charging me for it so I just forfeited my seat and trip all together. There's nothing good to say about Ethiopian airlines."

Contras: "They don't need to translate everything into Ethiopian language. There isn't a single person flying from Addis to Malawi (or Malawi to Addis) who speaks Ethiopian, so it's a waste of everyone's time and interrupts the movie, sleep, and meal."
Contras: "The food was horrible. My TV didn't work and although I asked for it to be reset several times, the crew kept forgetting. The flight was supposed to be 9 hours, but we left late and it was 11+ hours. I understand things happen, but the crew gave no explanation for the delay or elongated flight. Last, but not least, when we landed in Newark we waited 2 hours for our luggage to come out. We landed at 9:50pm and didn't receive our baggage until 11:50pm. My friend and I were not even the last to get our bags. Overall this was the worst flight experience I've ever had."

Our ticket was somehow suspended BY THEM so we had to call an office in a different country to unsuspeND then we were able to cancel. No help at all and kept dodging responsibility and forwarding the problem to other offices. Would book a different airline to avoid unneeded stress."
