Staff did their best, but there are just too many people to care for. Check in was a serpentine line an hour long. With all hands on deck, it was still an hour+ wait in the lobby and valet. Rooms were very nice
We upgraged for the king spa suite, we received half mini bar empty and half can of sprite (someone drank it and put it back to the bar) they only give 1 shampoo, one soap and etc... but we were a couple! The hallway was always loud, doors shutting and screaming, i called and say on advanced its our honeymoom, expected a little more and unfortunately was really disappointed. The phones at the room are from the 50's. And the room wasnt real clean. Looks old, not enough lights. Very clean and fun resort type atmosphere. City within a city. Would have been nice to feel more safe outside the resort. Walked down to Cesars palace. The resort was nice, but they made the effort to clean up the street on the perimeter of their property. At MGM you walk outside at night on the strip and do not feel safe. Not only are the homeless derilects there begging and laying in their own filth but the cocroaches would carry you off.
We were able to use the pools at the signature suites. Stood in line for over an hour while checking in. Room was small, outdated and inconveniently located in the hotel.
The water in my tub and sink in the hotel room took 10 minutes to drain, it was pretty gross. And the lingering smoke smell on a non smoking floor was rough. Also, my AC in my room didn't work.
location No guest free parking
The hotel keys didn't work when I first arrived at the hotel and had dragged my stuff up to my room. When they didn't work I was pretty bummed, but the cleaning service who were nearby were kind enough to let me into the room and get in touch with the front desk for me. They were gracious and upgraded me without hesitation.
Even for using refrigerator we needed to pay for it.
- Close to bus line - Central location - A/C unit constantly ran, even on AUTO!! - Smoke smell inside non-smoking room - Room very dark (WEST) - Inconsistent water heater - Vanity sink did not drain well - Overall, room did not seemed as "Fresh" as expected
The lazy river is amazing and the pool waitresses are great (especially Kaitlyn!) The front desk staff are incompetent. We checked in early on Friday morning and were only staying for 2 nights. The hotel didn't have our 2 queen room available so they upgraded us to a suite (awesome right?) WRONG. They then proceeded to tell us we owe an extra $80 per night for the suite that we didn't ask for! So I refused to pay and instead they made us sleep in the suite for one night then MOVED us to another room at 11am the next day! So inconvenient. I am a breastfeeding mother and needed a place to pump during the day and had to pump in a bathroom instead of in my room because our room wasn't available! Complete lack of respect for my needs. Will never stay here again.
Location Bathroom was horrible. The sink was clogged and the water pressure in the shower was too low to take a comfortable shower. Told the front desk but no one came to look at it.
Room was well appointedvand clean. Staff very nice and friendly. Great new morimoto restaurant. Casino air was pretty dank. Major partiers hauling in coolers 2 at a time.
Hotel was fine, but nothing special Besides the $30/day resort fee, MGM has decided to add a $10/day parking fee for all their hotels (about half of the hotels on the Vegas Strip).
Overall layout and variety of restaurants was hreat
It was clean. The staff was very accommodating. I would stay there again. It's right on the strip and there's easy access to everything.
Location and cost Queues at reception - arrivals and departures
Hotel was good. No micro oven and fridge in room
Hotel staff very accommodating. Good restaurants. Unavailability of MLife staffing and rude behavior when leaving. Always had discounts when checking out. No longer.
Friendly staff and great room for the price. Several other hotels were 100 bucks per night more. Glad I stayed here. Will stay here again!
New York New York NY Hotel has been I go to place for Las Vegas for many years. Has a great location, decent food service within the complex, and a okay Casino. The property is simply getting tired... It's time to do the overhaul of the entire facility especially the rooms.. casino. I don't believe the furniture is been changed within the bedrooms and for many years.
Parking fee is a very bad idea. Not sure I will ever stay in MGM owned resorts. Small luxuries like valet is something I enjoy in Vegas.
Kayak booked my room with New York when it was already at already over book so me thinking I had a room an get there an be told I don't have one is very upsetting I don't think I'll be using kayak again to book hotels
Proximity to the other hotels. Too expensive. I reserved via third party. When you get to the hotel they say you only paid for one night to reserve the room. All of the other charges are added like parking and resort fee, which didn't make it a great deal.
Staff very friendly Total surprise when we got there. MGM Properties have changed some things to get more of your money. Self parking is now $8 per day and Valet is $13.50 per day. All the refrigerators were removed from the rooms. You can get one for your room but it costs $25 per day. All the coffee makers were removed from the rooms. You get to go down to the casino and stand in a long line at one of the coffee shops and pay $3.50 or more for a simple cup of coffee in the morning. Oh and a blackjack that usually pays 3:2 has been changed to 6:5 and if you are at a somewhat empty table and want to play 2 hands, you have to play a minimum of double the minimum bet on each hands or you cant play 2 hands. Wont be going back to a MGM Properties casino again. Lastly, getting a drink while gambling was near impossible. Very few waitresses.
Rooms ok, parking costs. resort costs. I didn't tip anyone and I didn't play any games. I'm on SS and room cost parking cost and resort cost. I have not much left but to eat. Thanks for nickle and dime low income people. This will be my last time in Vegas.
Convenience location Smell of casino and front disk
Nice hotel with plenty of choices for dinner. Buffet breakfast needs more variety and wasn't worth the price.
Gym was nice Steakhouse on-site was good Hotel room was clean and comfortable bed Fine for an affordable room if you have a conference nearby Place is tired and worn out, my wife would kill me if I took her there for a vacation.
Room was comfortable Wifi was good for general browsing (did not test streaming) Wifi available throughout the building Buffet was cheaper than most Some nice restaurants Room cost was low Fast and Easy Checkout I arrived at the hotel at 11:30 PM and had to wait for nearly an hour while 3-4 groups in front of me checked in. The check-in process was cumbersome and the resort fee is ridiculous. The fee is just a way of showing a lower price on booking sites only to nail you when you get to the hotel. Food offerings in the hotel were sparse and expensive. I had to pay $10 for a hamburger (no fires, no drink) at the Johnny Rockets as this was the lowest cost option available. I will say this does seem to be a trend not only in this hotel but most others. Being in Las Vegas in general is like staying in an airport the entire time you are there, everything costs double what it would in the rest of the country. When I woke up the following morning I found that there was an ironing board but no iron. Outside of this minor inconvenience, no other issues with the room. The major complaint that I had regarding this hotel is location. In order to get to the monorail to get to other parts of the strip and downtown, you have to cross multiple bridges and go through the entire MGM grand casino which is a maze in and of itself. This, coupled with the fact that at any given time half the escalators going up and down these bridges made the trip every day to the monorail extremely inconvenient. When coming back one night, I was not even able to cross over one bridge and ended up having to backtrack all the way around New York New York to get there. While I do not blame the hotel for this shortcoming, it does create a difficulty for anyone travelling on business. When you consider the MGM grand average rate was $90 a night and my rate ended up being nearly $70 a night, it would be worth the extra money not to have to deal with this hassle and be in a much nicer hotel, casino, and shopping area.
The beds were very comfortable. It was very close to MGM, where we were seeing the band Phish. The staff at the front desk for a very busy 3pm check in was awesome! They were all super friendly and happy and helpful. The hotel overall felt dirty and outdated. We spent most of our time at New York New York and MGM, as the Excalibur was really just a room with a bed in it to sleep, which was not much. The buffet was awful.
Advertised price of $32 per night, so I thought I was getting a good value. Then I find out there is anunadvertised $38 resort fee to be added on. After prepaying for my room with the resort fee on line, the check -in attendant tells me she needs my card for add-ons. Parking - $40. I asked doesn't the resort fee cover that? Answer - no. So the unadvertised parking fee is 125% of the advertised hotel rate. This is unethical. After staying one night, I left the next morning less than 24 hours later. Another $8 fee to get out of the lot. Unethical senior management - not likely to stay there again with this misrepresentation and lack of transparency.
Location is ok - Long time check-in; smell and noisy room; self parking garage doesn't work properly .
no body wash in shower very long line up for check in soft mattress not such good interior design in the room
It's a nice casino great value. Room was clean bed was not the most comfortable but I've stayed here before & I think it was just that mattress. Anyway Excalibur is a nice casino/hotel. Bed
The Excaliber was good. I would stay there again because it was good value for the price. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The casino is dated but had a great food court for family. Needed a bit of a facelift, but didn't take away from the stay.
The only thing that i liked was the check in and check out was really fast thats it.. Hotel room was terible the furniture was dirty dusty the windows were all the dirty the shower and the sink drains didn't work water stayed flooded and last they open our room with out our permission
Loved the tram to Crystals/Aria/Bellagio/Vdara, made life super easy! Our first room reeked of weed and cologne so we asked for a new room. Staff was accommodating, new room was handicap accessible with a broken bathroom door handle. It all worked out and it was a place to sleep, but we were unimpressed. The staff was helpful and friendly though.
The staff is very professional but they need more effort to keep happy the guest this is Vegas come on We are a couple celebrating our anniversary and we was listening music not that loud and I perfectly remember the time was 9:22 pm when the security knocks my door saying someone complained about the music come on this is Las Vegas and Also the floor on the restroom was so dirty they don't clean from the previous guests I have pictures to proved
Our Monaco sweet was nice! When we first went to stay at Monte Carlo we had booked one of their "standard" upper level rooms. When we checked in I was very disappointed by the condition it was in. It was very old, didn't look like it had been updated since the 80's. Not very comfortable at all. We changed rooms and upgraded (for an extra $120!) but I feel it was worth it as the first room was bad. Tiles were falling off the wall and all of the wood furniture was chipped. They also added an extra charge of over $400 to my card when we checked in. It got resolved later but was still annoying to deal with.
location, easy to access just about everything.
We were able to self park our car for a relatively low fee The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet We got a room facing construction cite even though we were promised a room facing the strip. When we resisted a change of rooms we for a room facing away from the strip towards the highways
Location was excellent. Right in the heart of the Las Vegas strip. Price was also good. Pool area and lobby look nice. Hotel is dated. Hotel room was dingy and window did not seal properly which resulted in a wind noise. Overall the room was showing signs of wear and tear. Cleanliness could have also been better.
Price Horrible view
Under reconstruction Stuff friendly, nonintrusive environment
It was on the strip access to alot of things liked the hotel lobby able to process my boarding pass at front desk Felt like I was staying in a red roof in overpriced for the room drab looking outdated wall paper it was peeling dirt in corners of the room shower leaked for hours after u turned it off not impressed but I loved las Vegas probably won't stay at the Monte Carlo again resort fees I don't understand on top of that they have the nerve to charge 3.60 cents per day tax really
Location Room was hot and musty. The furniture was old/dated. The pillows were awful. There was no power outlets available for mobility, phone, computer; so inconvenient for the business traveler. (minimally, the lights should have USB and power inputs by the bed for the high price I paid.) Also, no way to heat water for tea or coffee. Very disappointing.
Vibe, beautiful and clean interior, location, food options, gaming options, etc. Right now, too much construction, I'd wait till it is completed finished before staying here. The entire front entrance is completely being redone, many of the interior restaurants are being rehabbed and are closed, there are no shows taking place here, without these thinga right now, Monte Carlo is not as sexy as it once was. Once all is completed however, it will be amazing! Also, seemed they are a bit short staffed with housekeeping as our room was not cleaned till late afternoon. This review is only temporary however as I know things will get a lot better.

The room, the price, the casino, and the staff I had to leave early
Well as soon as I walked in the door I was hit with an $84 resort fee, not really the properties fault because that's the way entire industry is moving but still it's annoying when you think that you have already paid in full. The casino had lower minimums, but it wasn't exactly a place I wanted to stay and gamble for a while. The room seemed sufficiently clean. We were placed in a smoking room on our first night despite having requested a non-smoking room, when we brought this to the attention of the check in host - they stated that it is a request, and not a guarantee that we would get a non-smoking room... we went up to put our bags in the room, and were repulsed by the disgusting smell. We went to the front desk again and explain that we would have a difficult time staying in the room with the intense disgusting odor, but the host seem to laugh it off and told us to smoke marijuana in the room now that it is legal in nevada. This was not an appropriate response in my opinion, however there was nothing we could do unless we wanted to sleep on the Las Vegas strip!
We stayed in the area called "The Bungalows". Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and attractive. It even had a small balcony with table and chairs. We appreciated having an Enterprise rental car location in the hotel. That made it very easy to return our rental car and pick up a taxi to the airport (there is a $50 additional fee if you return the car to the airport). We are not gamblers and used the hotel as our final night in the area before flying out in the morning. We did walk the Strip at night and early the next morning. Both times the area felt safe. Hotel staff were helpful. Some might find the public areas of the hotel "dated". We liked the slightly vintage vibe.
The casino employees and front desk people were nice The whole hallway smelt horrible. Out of Date rooms. Room got cleaned once out of 3 days
A cost-effective place to lodge near many of Vegas' more popular attractions. Less smoke-filled than other casinos. The rooms are clean and functional. The staff was helpful and friendly. I felt safe at this location. If you are in Vegas to see Vegas and not stay in a hotel room, this is the budget-friendly place for you. This hotel is a bit dated. When I think "Tropicana", I think tropical and green. The decor did not match the name at all. This is minor compared to the required amenities and customer service.
I like that its more quiet than the casinos on the strip. We have a toddler and it seemed like a good option given the location. Not a place for someone who likes to gamble to stay. The casino is tiny and the sports book was a joke. Very limited dining options. The rooms in the club tower were so humid it was unbearable. It was on the 60's when we were there. No matter how low you set the thermostat, it still felt humid. Maid said the club tower is like that this time of year.
the room was great and house keeping was very accommodating. i appreciate that valet was complimentary the only thing i would say is i felt like we were forced to upgrade because the front desk rep made our original room sound horrible. i get that they want to get upgrade for sales purposes but i shouldn't feel like my room was going to be horrible.
we were supposed to get a nonsmoking room but they gave us a room which you could easily smell the left over smoke inside. it took them 2 hours to change our room after more than 10 times us calling the front desk. the bathtub was full of hair. I had to go get the cleaning lady and come clean it again. terrible experience overall. they do no care about the customer experience because these companies are too big to care about individual people. I will NEVER put my foot in Tropicana "hotel" and I would recommend everyone boycotts these hotels with low quality service.
Clean, nice beds and great location One bed was not made. Took a long time to check in. Shower drain clogged.
The hotel lobby was renovated with a modern look plus can't beat the price. The room was decent, it had all the necessary amenities that you would need for any hotel. Overall, a nice hotel that provides all the basic things needed without having to overpay. The bathroom definitely needs an upgrade. And, also, adding more gambling tables (i.e. Craps, Poker) to the casino would be a bonus.
Tranquility and truly friendly and helpful staff. On the strip with readily accessible gambling but structured in such a way that you can relax when you choose. minor maintenance issues with an otherwise wonderful room.
A new hotel. Very clean, silent and high tech room. Real 5 star.
The Mandarin Oriental is great for travelers who come to Vegas for a comfortable, luxurious stay and want to avoid the crowds, the smokey casinos, and the noise of the strip that is present at other hotels. The staff there is incredibly professional and courteous and very well trained. We had an amazing stay and every part of our experience was top-notch - and we are seasoned travelers who often stay in nice hotels. I appreciate too that the entire hotel was non-smoking. The prices are high, but you often get what you pay for... however I think the spa prices, even for basic services, are quite steep - such as $120 for an express pedicure.
Staff really understood customer service. Hotel was cold - food expensive and medicore at best.
This is an island of paradise among the insanity of Vegas. The attention to detail is without equal. There is no casino which provides a number of benefits. The walk to the room is very short, the line for a cab is non-existent, Starbucks is right by the front door, there is no line at check-in, and you are never hustled by prostitutes, pimps, or marketers. In my opinion, this is the only place to stay. It is expensive for a very good reason. In this case, you get exactly what you pay for... I found no fault with this luxury hotel. The water pressure is great, service is prompt, and the concierge is able to achieve monumental feats on very short notice.
The MO is an unexpected and beautiful facility that is everything Vegas is not. If your looking for sanctuary from the 24/7 insanity of Vegas the MO is that and so much more.
Everything was gorgeous - the staff as well as the entire hotel. There's no casino in the hotel so it does provide a haven for when you need a break from the frenzy that is Las Vegas. The bed was awesome! Location is very central on the strip. I would definitely recommend.
Sevice is very good. But sometimes too good just makes you uncomfortable. The room is very nice, the tub in bathroom is gorgeous. Overall, the gotel is worthy to live. Even the price is a little high, so I would recommend to live when there are some special deals.
Loved that it was non smoking and non gaming! Beautiful pool, free yoga class and close to everything. The restaurants were also very good.
I liked that you were in Vegas but this hotel was a little eacape from the craziness I didn't like that our room faced the busy bridge from the shops and Aria so there was noise all night long
I like serenity yet convenient of everything for leisure. Excellent service!!! I strongly recommend to anyone!! Sarah
