Common areas were too warm, but the hotel was awesome otherwise.
Location was awesome!! Directly across from the train and minutes from the Royal Mile! The rooms were very clean and modern. The a/c was not working and it was warm during the day. But the nights were nice.
Location and friendliness of staff Insufficient storage for clothes. Bathroom door would not remain open to air out after a shower. Heating/Cooling unit did not work. TV operation was tied to placing key card in slot, remote did not turn on unit--inconvenient. More focused on style.
Convenient to attractions Uncertain where to park to unload. Could use some signage.
Great location. Clean . Comfortable bed. Noisy downtown location.
The location was fantastic. We arrived by train and the hotel was right across the street from Waverly Station. Within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile. The hotel was new and everything seemed to be very efficient. Staff was very friendly. Not much.
The whole hotel experience at the George Hotel was completely faultless. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The rooms were spotless, warm and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. The flight was cancelled on our return and had to stay at the George Hotel an extra night, the staff welcomed us back with mulled wine! Excellent stay, thank you.
I booked a room at The George Hotel as a special birthday treat for my husband. I wanted somewhere right in the city and this was the perfect location, we even managed to find a parking space! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever stayed in!
almost everything the cooked breakfast wasn't hot enough
Brilliant location for all the reasons anyone would visit Edinburgh - sites shops reatauramts
The hotel kindly acknowledged our anniversary. All the staff were wonderful.
Location and reception areas were great. Room was terrible. Really hot. Could not open window and AC not working. Staff unwilling to help.
location, standard of accommodation bedrooms were very warm even with no heating on. We were unable to open a window due to noise on street. This was a minor complaint.
enjoyed the comfort and eating at the restaurant
very enjoyable stay in a superb hotel, excellent meals, very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble to make our stay memorable
The hotel was in central Edinburgh and close to all the attractions.the room was very spacious Lack of parking as public parking very expensive.
Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Got bait and switched. Upon checkin was told that breakfast was included with the prepaid reservation. Great! Upon checkout was informed I owed something like £60 for breakfast. Tried to argue my case but had a train to catch and ended up with a "discount" to £40. Extremely shady. Will let my CC company take care of this.
There was no air conditioner in the room. The room I got was in the basement close to a very noisy load and unload area. Eventhough they had better rooms available, they asked me for extra payment in case I wanted a different room.
the hotel is stunning, very unique, modern and a great place to chill out after being round the shops in edinburgh
beautiful design, great location, friendly and helpful staff
The room was excellent , staff were extremely helpful and polite .
Central location, especially for the Tatoo Hardest bed we have seen on this month long trip. Inadequate luggage racks or space for clothing storage. It would be ok for an over nighter but not for someone on a long trip. Out of 6 hotels we have stayed in so far on this trip, your was the only one without a bath tub.
Attention to detail, throughout the hotel
was very noisy, did not receive free paper that we were offered.. Design was nice but that should not qualify for a 5 stars, was 3/4..
Very friendly and efficient staff. Luxurious contemporary feel / look. Nice breakfast. Upgrade unexpected, but very much appreciated - nice touch. Difficult to get room wamer with controls. was not freezing cold but my wife would have preferred it warmer. Couldn't seem to watch different channels on the different TV's at the same time, but this may not have been possible anyway!
Fresh looking hotel Tv did not work despite changing rooms. No fresh black pepper or brown sauce available at breakfast. Waiter unable to confirm the Scottish Breakfast ingredients. Unable to access restaurant from lift as doors locked.
The design of the hotel was really modern but still comfortable. When we arrived I was not expecting to have £100 per night deducted from my bank account, especially since we had already paid for it in full. Fine if you have a credit card as you dont notice the money leaving your a/c (its refunded when you check out) but if you dont have a credit card (I dont) then they ask for a debit card which means that you are money short in your account. If this had been mentioned prior to booking then maybe I would have reconsidered staying there. Its ok if they had just taken the card details but to acutally take the money was unexpected and quite unfair to say that we had already paid for the room etc. There was no warning of this and it was lucky that I had plenty of funds in the account!
The comfortable rooms and central location and choice to stay in the Hotel or not.
very very good had all we required Evert up its standard
The Number One was a tremendous experience. The hotel and restaurant staff could not have been better during our stay. I would simply say keep it up!
The One restaurant has excellent and unusual food servewd by impecably trained servers.
the staff were lovely booked double executive room, but think we got a budget room double bed two different height mattresses. asked them to sort it, they didnt. bathroom poor room smaller than stated in description
The restaurant "Number one": excellent staff, good food. The location of the hotel and the view on the old city. Very noisy hotel, not enough privacy: train station beneath the hotel, doors being smashed all day, staff knocking on doors to check on the room too often. The room had not been refurbished in a very long time. The bed was not particularly confortable. Much too expensive for the service provided and quality of the rooms.
Everything about this hotel is fantastic, and consistently so. The service in particular is always outstanding.
Lovely room, thoughtfully decorated, wonderful service.
Hotel staff are very attentive and quality of the meals excellent.
Zoltan at reception was a star. The restaurant and bar team were efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Looking forward to our next visit
Beautiful historic hotel in the perfect location. The staff could not have done more to be helpful. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spectacular. The light level in the room was so subdued that it was difficult to see inside your suitcase. Other than that no complaints at all.
They had parking, toiletries were good the fridge was only a cooler and it would have been nice to have a proper cold fridge. Breakfast quite expensive.
Good locatioin, friendly staff, breakfast excellent, room comfortable Very small car park
Very central to Edinburgh, very nice pubs nearby and easy walk to all of the tourist sections of the town. Very helpful staff and very nice breakfast.
Hotel is better than i expect, warmer, clener, and quiet Breakfast is quit expensive, compering what you get.
We love the beds and the huge wide screen TV! It was a little far from Waverley station, had to climb up and down a hill to get to the hotel!
The hotel was modernly decorated and the rooms were of excellent quality and the food was of constant high standard
Friendly staff. Very well appointed rooms
Helpful staff Modern decor and beautiful view of the castle Noisy guests sitting in the lounge area on 4th floor just outside our bedroom.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. Everything one needs to see in Edinburgh is within walking distance. Our room was spacious and towards the back of the building, so there was no noise coming from Grassmarket at all although we stayed there for the weekend.
Helpful staff, clean rooms, good location
The rooms are well decorated; the hotel is in a great location - really excellent; the shuttle bus is useful. We were moved room twice in a five night stay. The first move was due to the sofa-bed in the studio dulexe not working. We were then upgraded to a one-bedroom apartment. This room did not have proper bathroom facilities and the bathroom flooded while the shower was in use. This resulted in a nightmarish experience - including three plumbers at the door within five minutes - clearly an ongoing situation. The room being flooded was not reported to hotel management until I complained to staff a third time. We also did not receive toiletries on a daily basis (had to ring reception to request them); did not receive an adequate number of towels; admired the charming cobwebs across the ceiling; had to request the sofa-bed to be made up several times; noted a complete lack of communication between staff and so forth.
My wife and I got married in Edinburgh, and we stayed at the Fraser Suites. It's in an excellent location, just a few steps from the Royal Mile and a 10 minute walk from Waverly railway station. We had flowers delivered to the hotel while we took the train up from London; we called in advance the night before and the staff had no difficulties with dealing with the flowers; they were waiting in our room when we arrived. We booked a junior suite, which was nice; it has a living room with a little wet bar, and a bedroom with en suite. The room had tall ceilings, nice finishes in the bathroom, huge windows to let in lots of light; we really had the impression of being at a top-end hotel. Staff were professional and friendly. No hitches in checking in or out or with housekeeping. We wish we could have stayed longer! As nice a time as we had at this hotel, we did have two minor complaints: once, there was some mould in the tile grout in the tub surround and the caulk joint between the surround and the tub itself, which was a blemish on an otherwise great room. A somewhat bigger problem was that it was windy (hotel can't do anything about that, of course), and this is an older building with older windows; the windows rattled pretty badly at night, and I'm a light sleeper, so this kept me up. Had we stayed longer, I might have raised the issue with the front desk, and it might have been possible to fix the problem by just sticking a coin in the window frame, but it did spoil the experience somewhat.
I was disappointed that the room wasn't ready on time, it was 30 mins late. I'm pleased I didn't pay full price for the room, I still payed enough but if I had paid full price I would have been very annoyed
The hotel was excellently situated was very clean and furnishings were of a very high standard. The facilities in the room included a microwave and kitchen type sink which was very handy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The parking was difficult and you had to pay a meter but spaces were very limited.
Excellent value with the ideal location for all the sights and amenities Not being able to open an account for the restaurant or bar
The shower Noise from the neighboring business disturbed us all night. Room was in the "daylight" basement; small and closed in. Staff was condescending.
staff all very helpful and polite nothing
The hotels staff and luxurious rooms.
This is the 2nd time I have stayed at Fraser Suites. I love the location right off the Royal Mile and right above Princes Street. Easy access to everything. The bed was a bit firm and aggravated my sciatica. And the tub was higher than normal or I am short!!!
It was central, pleasant quite spacious and comfortable. Room faced a wall, No drawer space, bathroom was badly laid out with no ventilation. There was no bar
excellent location and comfortable space the hotel offered what i needed tho if you want room service there is not enough room for an table
The location of the Suites couldn't have been better. Just off the Royal Mile it was central to everything. I would have liked more frequent maid service
location was perfect, easy to get to all the attractions on foot, train station and buses 10 min walk. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. sheets and blankets - I missed my Duvet
Staff very friendly and helpfull no
Breakfast at Ricks across the road The fact that breakfast was across the road
Breakfast was excellent Only one thin blanket on bed Also no information available on bus routes from hotel reception
Convenience of location for central Edinburgh
The staff were pleasant and very helpful. I also wanted to stay an extra day than I originally booked and the hotel was able to accommodate me.
Every thing is just excellent! We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. We will highly recommend to our friends.
The hotel was central, clean and very good value. I will be visiting the hotel again.
Comfortable, clean hotel with simple facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. No frills.
The room was spacious and the view amazing. The room service was very good . Cafe Rouge, where the breakfast is served, was amazing but the breakfast poor.
very friendly owners, excellent menu in the evening for a very good price (well only apple or orange juice as a drink) as well as the scottish breakfast. Location Noisy fitnesscentre in the early hours on friday in the back of room 12
The hotel is very convienient for all local attractions,it was clean and warm and a very good price, rooms were decorated in a modern style . the doors in hotel are heavy fire doors and if not held until closed they slammed every time someone went through one. Our room was at basement level and had drainage problems in shower and water only drained slowly.
A pleasant stay at the hotel. The decoration is very modern and update. The Bathroom in particular has a nice bath
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was very good. The room was attractive and comfortable. No bad points
a lovely modern guest house in a great location, our room was spotlessly clean and very warm. The only thing that would improve the stay was that Sunday breakfast could have been a just little bit later say between 9 and 9.30am
Location is very convenient
great location, excellent hotel staff, really big and comfortable room, good breakfast
The building is lovely and very nicely decorated. The room was small but very comfortable with better than average appliances and fantastic water pressure in the shower! Breakfast was good with a large menu. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was a little too warm, but the radiator could be adjusted so it wasn't a huge problem. The wood flooring, although nice looking, was noisy especially when other guests were moving around very early in the morning.
Excellent location, really simple but very modern interior. Breakfast was especially nice as everything was cooked fresh. Non that spring to mind
Fantastic service. Warm, friendly staff. Great breakfast. Perfectly located for a tour of Edinburgh. Excellent. Not a thing. Great hotel.
The reception staff were very helpful, and very pleasant. The noise from a disco outside my window was dreadful till 1.00am. I was informed it was not yours as you do not open on a Monday nt. I was in London apart from that I enjoyed my stay. Room could be cleaner.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull. The room was very well set out and extremely comfortable. The hotel was also very well situated in the centre of town. There were no problems really but one small gripe was the music from the bar played loudly until early hours and it could be heard in the room. This didn't affect our satisfaction with the hotel though.
The staff were extremely accommodating
Stayed in amazing top floor paris themed room with views over George Street, large bathroom and separate wc, pleasant staff, great bars, complimentary drinks, VIP access to shanghai club...
MARK at the front desk was very helpful with loads of info for us during our stay! We were not impressed with the bed as it was to soft and felt like an airbed, for the amount of money they should consider better beds!
The individual styled room are are very Ostentatious but in a good way. An up market accomodation ideally situated for shopping walks to the roayal mile and waverely station. Lifts a bit dark
Loved the room, fish tank lovely could have done with more fish in! TV in bathroom, nice. Staff very nice and very helpful. Enjoyed our stay.
The hotel was stunning and pleasant staff
We were upgraded to a Junior Suite (New York) which was very luxurious. The staff were very helpful and answered all the questions we had. Our meal in Vienna was gorgeous and would highly recommend it, the complimentary drinks voucher went down a treat as well. Breakfast is not included in the room rate and it was pretty average for the price. We asked for toast and they sent it without any preserves and sent us a croissant rather than the pan au chocolat we had requested but it was still nice.
Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful altogether a very enjoyable visit No
Late checkout on a Sunday afternoon ( we had a late flight.) Good breakfast variety, though no hot food. Great staff, friendly and efficient, no weird attitudes. great location, everything walkable. Easy tram connection to/from airport. No wash clothes/flannels in a good hotel??? No eggs or porridge at breakfast.
Very lively Friday night - cocktail night!! Good location and great room If yiu dont like Very load music be warned ! But it was Friday night
Great staff, great welcome, nice atmosphere, well placed, excellent breakfast, fast and ubiquitously accessible wifi.
We appreciated the sheer quality of the bed and all the bedding, the best in any hotel we have ever stayed in. It's city centre and you have to accept it's noisy.
location. Verey nice room. Good facilities in the room. Breakfasts were quite disappointing. Dry toast with no butter nor conserve offered. Cheap poor quality sausages. I would have p[referred a breakfast buffet but I do see that with a smal hotel this might not be feasible. Maybe just a make your own toast area? Excellent coffee.
The best things regarding Rick's Hotel are the location, the friendly and helpful staff, the facilities in the rooms (inc iPod and ghd hair straighteners) as well as the bar/restaurant on the ground floor. The only thing I didn't like was the fact thet the hotel does not have a lift, but it didn't affect our enjoyment of our stay.
location dated decor, no iron/ironing board, unfriendly staff
Ideal location, clean room, comfortable stay no proper view of the outside. Staff could have been friendlier
Wifi didn't work on my iPhone, only my iPad. There is demolition of a building right behind my room. They start early in the morning. It wasn't pleasant at all.
coffee was made in apot previously used for making tea; therefore coffee was awful
The central position on Princes Street, so convenient for buses, walking to tourist places and resturants.
Nice place, central location, staff were friendly, a good experience.
Location of hotel on Princes Street, excellent breakfast and great view of castle from room. nothing our visit was fine
For us the location was the spot on, being ony minutes from the railway station and in the centre of the city and shopping district. The Hotel was comfortable and the buffet breakfast was very good Whilst the service in the restaurant was good this was not always the same at the reception or the bar
Friendly staff My room was small. Unwelcoming entrance hall.
Included breakfast was excellent with free hot beverage service too. The location cannot be beat, in the center of everything. Easy to rent a car, walk the royal mile, shop, eat, and see all the sights Edinburgh has to offer!
Location, location, location. Within walking distance (<1 mile) of every place I needed to be or wanted to see on a mostly-business trip. Nice views from my 4th floor window facing Prince St. Bathroom was thoroughly up-to-date and very clean. Mattress was soft and showing some age. Some street noise--a tradeoff for the view, and not intrusive with the window and curtains closed after 10 pm.
the breakfast and the size of the room. the location as well!
Good Position, facilities Some noise from building work across road.
Aparment was lovely complimentary wine and muffins were good , lady at reception very helpful a bit out of the way for the castle and grassmarket
Location, close to city centre , Economical Sluggish staff. Unadequate facilities, had to request basic stuff mouse in the room and the staff were not even apologetic about it
The hotel provided a comfortable haven in the centre of a terrific city. Everything about the apartment was satisfactory. It would have been useful to have two twin beds in the second bedroom rather than a double. It would have been useful if the kitchen was equipped with a cafetiere.
Proximity to main attractions and town centre. Fantastic views from the penthouse!
Nice decor with a family comfortable feel to it! Not enough toilet roll, and asked several times for replacement
Very nice room Poor reception area overly efficious staff not being able to hear a word because of builing works we were not informed of. Left couple of things in the room which have not been handed in by house keeping staff
Friendly staff, great location and very comfortable rooms. Would go again.
Upgrade us to the penthouse every time we visit Edinburgh & it's guaranteed we'll be back! Excellent apartment & view. Very minor 'complaint' as I'm slightly confused as to how much we gained with the upgrade as the apartment I booked was advertised as also having 2 bedrooms & a balcony. I don't expect the same upgrade every time so I'd like to have discovered what I was due for my money.
Great location. Well-appointed apartment. Lots of nice touches. We asked for two twin rooms or one twin and a double and were only told on arrival this was not possible. This seems strange as most groups would require flexibility. Had to request extra towels and bedclothes twice.
