Way to long to pickup.Prós:We arrived at the pickup location and found a line with about 30 people in front of us. The agents all two of them were concentrating on upgrades and insurance sales instead of moving the line along. I rented this vehicle 3 months with a prepaid in advance all of the terms and conditions completed. It was an insult to first wait in the heat for someone that did not have any passion. To top it off my rental clearly stated that I am renting a specific vehicle, not what they decided to give me. To make excuses and offer an upgrade which was triple the cost is wrong on all counts.Contras:After being a business traveler and using Hertz for many years, I felt I was treated like a discount renter. Sorry just telling it like it was. The vehicle was so dirty I had to stop and buy window cleaner and a towel so I could see where I was going.Avaliado em 23 jul 2017

Got screwed by Hertz insurance coverageContras:Line was out the door at the Honolulu desk. By the time I got to the front, my 1 year old was not having it. When it came time for insurance I wasn't sure if my wife had (she was dealing with bags) or if my AMEX covered and signed under duress. Later that afternoon I called AMEX and learned that I was covered and that I shouldn't have to pay the loss damage waiver (an extra $220). When I tried to change my reservation, Hertz wouldn't let me because of the Kayak voucher. They were going to make me cancel my reservation completely, I would lose my day rate, and would then be charged $200/day for the vehicle. In short, I would have to pay $1200 to save $220. What's shitty is that the Hertz reps know that AMEX covers loss damage waiver but didn't say anything. After all the fees and everything, my rental went from being about $200 to $500 for no reason.Avaliado em 6 abr 2017

Honesty would be helpfulContras:I asked the agent at the counter at the time of pickup if the car rental would be able to be extended if it was needed. He checked the computer and told me that it would...he added that the same daily rate would apply, and circled the 800 number on the rental jacket to call if the extension was necessary. It turned out that it was but, when I called the number and they told me something completely different...over 200.00 different. So, in order to have a vehicle, I had to return the one I had to the airport, and make a completely different reservation for one day for a different car. I understand that there are rules, the regulations and rate differences but, please just be honest about it up front and save all the headaches.Avaliado em 16 mar 2017

HAWAII Untimely pick up from airport, wish I was more informedPrós:grear rate, saves money, car was good and clean.Contras:OAHU HAWAII CAR RENTALS: Because you save money not having airport fees, the pick up/drop off is not at the airport, it's a few blocks away, which isn't brought to your attention on the confirmation, however an address is listed. I stood in the airport line for 45 minutes for them to tell me that it's at a different location and she would call them to pick me up... I waited in the area she specified and waited... another couple was also waiting, they said they had been waiting for about 30 minutes before me. We asked the shuttles that were circling and they said it's a normal car that picks us up, not a shuttle bus... we were contemplating to walk there, GPS said 15 minutes to walk when I found the number to the offsite location on Yelp, the google number just rang endlessly. The gentleman that answered said they would send someone to come get us (assuming they hadn't been called previously?!). So we waited another 20 minutes (now over an hour total waiting for pick up). it is an empty lot with a few cars and a mobile-home-type temporary building with bars on the exterior. Had I been by myself I would have second guessed myself walking in there, but the other couple was there so I felt better about it. The process from there was normal, standard pick up process, so no complaints there... it took over 2 hours for me to get the rental when it really didn't have to take that long. just a heads up, Yelp the phone number, make sure you call to let them know you are waiting and don't waste your time standing in the airport rental line or take a nice walk if you don't have a lot of bags to lug with you, that might be faster. And for the newbies, bring your own insurance card from home, decline their insurance. Pay with a credit card, not a debit card because they charge a security deposit that is refunded- Debit cards take longer to refund your money vs credit cards is just a temporary hold. happy and safe travelsAvaliado em 17 abr 2017

Bait and Switch at the airportContras:We purposefully wanted an airport pick up and thought we had selected an airport pick up but our reservation ended up being off property. Not a huge problem but for the fact we were supposed to pick up at 6:00pm and the offsite closed at 6:00pm which was NOWHERE on the reservation. The Hertz airport customer service told us we would have to take a $60 taxi ride into Waikiki to pick up our car and that they were sold out. Having traveled for 17 hours and having my 78 year old mother and two kids in tow-- that wasn't an option. We rented a jeep from National to get us across the island and I returned the next morning. Then another Hertz service rep told me I was lucky we didn't go to Waikiki because we wouldn't have gotten a car there either. The cars are location specific. Also, Hertz wasn't sold out the night before. There is no shuttle so I walked the half mile to the trailer that houses Hertz's offsite rentals after I dropped our National rental back off at the airport. The representative there was great and the car was what we needed but the whole ordeal cost me an additional $170 dollars and took time away from my vacation. I was deeply disappointed in the reservation itself -- why would It allow pick up when the offsite was closed-- and with the service representative the first night. Terrible Experience. Would not recommend. Not customer friendly.Prós:Refunded the pre-paid balance in full. (Eventually)Contras:Pre-paid for the rental & wasn't even able to use the car. Debit card users please be aware of the surprising local policy: need (a) 2 forms of ID and an outbound ticket, or (b)1 form of ID & proof of Hawaii residence in order pickup. If you don't have a major credit card or have a debit & don't meet this company's policy you're basically SOL. They will not work with you or provide any assistance other than pointing to a sign which references the above-mentioned request of documentation, even if you have a Hertz confirmation number.Avaliado em 6 ago 2017

Contras:First we didn't know it was offsite Hertz. We had to incur a taxi ride to go get the car. We went there and there was absolutely NO CARS on the lot. We were told our car was already rented because we were supposed to have picked up at 2pm. We didn't even land until 2:23. Regardless, the car was gone. They said they had to go to another site to get us a car and they would have to lock up their offices and we had to wait outside. They came back with a mini van. It was dirty in the back. The van had problems with the tires and we had to keep filling it with air. We brought it back and traded it for another vehicle. Contras:I should have been notified in advance that my boarding pass and proof of my negative COVID test on paper were required at pickup. In the email I received nothing was mentioned about this and it was a huge obstacle for having a smooth pickup. Most of my stuff was still with my husband and all four of our kids while i had gone by myself to pickup the van. This Hertz is NOT located in the airport but is too close for any of the taxis to want to take me there so I had to walk all the way. They also tried to scam me with not getting rental insurance on the vehicle. I called my husband about as he’s rented cars more than me, and if you currently have auto insurance on a car you own it WILL cover the rental. Very disappointed in the whole pickup situation but other than that the vehicle worked well and was a decent price.Avaliado em 1 abr 2021

Prós:Nothing.Contras:One of the workers at the site was unapologetically rude. I have never met someone in the service industry who had no concept of customer service. It took over two plus hours to get a car. Then when checking back in he saw some sand in the trunk and said that the car had to be completely sand free and that he was going to charge a cleaning fee. “I expect you to be completely sand free when you get back in the car”. He then was completely unprofessional when another employee cleared the car. The whole process check in, check out is a nightmare. Great servicePrós:I picked up my car at the Pagoda Hotel in Honolulu (Rycroft) and was treated with courtesy and friendliness by two gentlemen (one Asian guy and one haole). Both were efficient in getting me a good vehicle. They subsequently checked me back in quickly.Contras:I didn't like the pickup location at first, but then I said to myself "quit complaining!" Thanks to Kevin F and Jack P at the HNL airport for making this a 5 ⭐️Prós:That Hertz was willing to work with me, even though I rented through a hotel. I will never rent through a hotel because they have cars that need an oil change, incorrectly write down mileage on the odometer. Kevin F and Jack P took care of me and made me want to work with Hertz next summer when I will be back for another 6 weeks.Contras:I did not know that the cars rented from a hotel are the second string. Cars that were in wrecks, but repairable. And the help that staffed these places, were unorganized and at times did not answer the phone.
