Location, the price I stay here 3 or 4 times a month and there are always niggling complaints; 2 out of my last 3 early morning call requests didn't happen. Heating not turned on in my room until 3rd request; no iron in the ironing room (stolen!) but no offer to pop next door to Debenhams to get one. Location and price, plus a decent breakfast, save the day
I have nothing good to say about the experience except that the restaurant staff were friendly. It took 300 minutes of queuing to get a key and a further three ascents / further quesuing to get into the room as the magnetic strips did not work. Arrived early to be greeted simply with "You can't check in here" - no welcome or greeting. the most appalling service I have ever experienced in a city centre hotel, and for the price entirely unacceptable. Surly reception staff, overwhelmed by long queues and too few computers. Poor rooms small, dark, - wall paper peeling; paint rubbed off in bathroom
great location for shopping etc and near station no staff about at breakfast no tables cleared to sit at when one did appear they still did not seem on top of the job. lunchtime in bar was short staffed one person behind bar doing everything not enough seats.
Although it is located in the centre of Birmingham the hotelrooms were dirty and uncomfortable (old beds, bathroom below standards) Hotel needs compleet renovation
Room was dark and dirty, matted ball of hair on window pane( which faced another room, no natural light) awful room lighting, i asked for more lights and they did nothing to help.shower had no hot water and water poured out from a crack all over the bathroom floor and the t.v did not work unless you fiddled with the exposed wires!! the only reason i stay in this hotel is the location to workplace. This hotel needs a very huge renovation.
Hotel room was tiny, also walls and carpet were dirty. funny smell in hallsway and lift. Bar staff were very rude.
the only thing good about this hotel was the guy that night on the reception he was shaking from the stress ,but we got dealy with ,and then the day after we were un happy again as my room had bee re booked to some one esle and i was sent to a yob hostel to put in polite where i had to share a lift with a skin head gross
Housekeeping did their best given what they had to work with. No internet in rooms-barely functioning in lobby.
Excellent location - closed to all of the city's attractions, bars, clubs and shops No car park
The hot bath/shower The facilities are old and out of date. It is a Victorian type of hotel but the maintenance to this standard has not been effected at all. The odour and smells coming out of the rooms are horrible. There is a a need to change the beddings and sheets.
Staff very helpful, nice location. Room was in need of decorative updating, bathroom was scruffy and tired, heater did not work well
Excellent location, high standard of room, comfortable bed, excellent en suite with bath and shower. Breakfast was not very hot and we had to wait until we had nearly finished before coffee was served, but the choice was good. The plates should have been warmed.
Staff really friendly without fail.
Breakfast Room was cold. Staff unable to get fixed so put up with it rather than repack and move.
The breakfast was excellent Excessive car charges £24 sterling for one night was excessive, I presume rooms are going to be updated ...
the breakfast was fantastic.
Large comfortable rooms, well heated and great bed
very close to town centre
Great, location, good food, and comfortable quiet room!
The location, comfort and cleanliness of the hotel.
Excellent facilities Comfortable bed overal good We presumed breakfast and car parking was included in the price as it was the previouse year and cheaper then.
Luxury and modern styling, lovely lobby, restaurant and classy bar, clean and felt quality, professional and smart staff The drunk young italian thug at the bar....... The lack of free satellite tv channels...... Plus the parking that had to be in the NCP around the corner was closed at 11pm when I got back to the hotel!
Wonderful Room Wonderful View Wonderful Spa!
Dining room staff excellent all staff very helpful Telephoned to change from one room to two. This had not happened on checking in. However we were accommodated a room each and next to each other which was great
helpful porters at the entrance and the pool.
Good staff Want to charge you for water bottles in room No batteries in remote control Cheap toilet paper For the price you pay you would think the hotel would get all these little points right!
Excellent service Nothing
Well appointed and central location However you look at it £170 can get you overnight anywhere
Easy walk to NIA. Staff always polite & friendly. Nothing
Late check out at 12.00, which means you can have a lovely lie in Unfortunately the temperature was minus 4 degrees and the hotel is not built for cold weather. The rooms were just at a reasonable temperature for someone that doesn't feel the cold too much. The restaurant and lounge area were very cold and whilst the food was excellent, we left as soon as we had finished eating as it was uncomfortable to sit and enjoy.
very helpful staff nothing outstanding stood out but it was a very pleasant stay with no problems. too much chlorine in the pool and jacuzzi
Close to Birmingham New Street rail station
The availability of an iron and ironing board in my room. When I went down to breakfast I was seated and then ignored for about 25 minutes. I had to ask one of the staff if I could order as I had a tight schedule.
The comfort of the rooms and big bathrooms along with the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area. gorgeous breakfasts with very good attention to detail with what was on offer. The shower was a bit low in both pressure and height and the room a bit cool.
room was lovely Checking out was long winded as only one receptionist on, we were checking out at 07.15am (not a busy time!) to be at an appt for 07.30 but receptionist was back & forward as couldn't find a receipt for customer in front of us and never once asked for someone to serve,so we were late for our appt by few minutes....poor
The room was comfortable. The check-in experience was very amateur for a hotel of your calibre. Also I found that the carpet in the room was quite stained.
The service in the bar was appalling and the hotel is starting to look shabby and neglected.
Stylish decor the very poor service!!! both reception and in the restaurant!!!
massage chairs in the spa were a big plus
This is the second time here and we had another wonderful time! We especially love the position as its very close to the canal network and various bars and restaurants - plus very near to the City Centre. Lovely atmosphere too as, although its an incredibly comfortable hotel it also has a 'warm and inviting' feel. Your staff are 'second to none' - well done! Hope this assists - thanks.
Convenience Old and foul smelling
The hotel is nice for business trip.
The hotel was very nice and it is in an excellent location for all the shops. The room was very hot, there was air conditioning but it was very noisy.
Richard who greated us and checked us out was outstanding. slight damp issue in top corner of bedroom.(not bothered for one night)Bathroom need modernising.
Traditional comfort with up to date facilities, warm welcoming staff and very good food.
The location is excellent, right at the heart of prime shopping outlets and 30 meters from all transport. The room was spotless, spacious and very comfortable.
Nice, clean and comfortable Not that easy to get to in a car.
Beautiful hotel, felt right at home. The bed was comfy and the decorating was extroardinary! Nothing!
I have stayed at this hotel before and all was as before. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. It was of concern to me that the receptionist did not appear to have my booking - it turned out my name had been spelt wrongly. I had asked for non feather pillows due to an allergy. There was a feather pillow in my room, I had to ask for this to be removed and replaced. There were problems with turning on the water for a bath through a shower mixer.
I stayed there several times and always been very happy, however on this occassion I was very dissapointed in the room wasnt what I expected or value for money.
Superb location, very easy to reach by car, 5 mins walking distance between New Street Station and the main shopping centre, and the Symphony Hall, but just far enough out to be away from the hustle and bustle if you want time out. About 15 easy minutes walk from the Jewellery Quarter Mattress was a bit lumpy, so didn't get a good night's sleep, however it's the first time that has happened to me when I've stayed here
the wonderful Italian Restaurant across the way!
How accessible the station, NIA etc were to us Taxi company used by hotel (Falcon)
Oriental brasserie was unusual & food was excellent It was a little hard to find
The rooms were not how I imagined from the pictures or describtion
Very convenient to all ameneties. Also a nice relaxed comfortable stay. Will use again.
The location is excellent, convenient for concert hall, theatre, museum, cinema, shops etc and a short walk from the station. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very tired and those facing the road very noisey, better double glazing would help. The meals are expensive but the hotel is close to the canalside bars and restaurants so it is not a problem.
Ideally placed for shopping. Quiet and able to work in my room when required to do so. Room service very good.
The location was very convenient Rooms were very hot and the breakfast was so expensive that we went elsewhere
Room was very comfortable, staff very helpful.Good experience. Cuisine choice was limited.
The room was clean, tidy and modern. Just like a four star hotel There is no car park but there are parking meters outside and the parking is free on a Sunday
i was travelling with my mum and it was great to be staying iwith her whilst we had separate rooms. the tvs in the bedrooms were not tuned in and my mum found this very frustrating as she likes to watch TV when she cant sleep
The apartment was clean and well maintained, except for the radiator in the lounge area did not work as there was no power cable between it and the socket. The apartment was spacious and well appointed with fixtures and fittings. The radiator in the lounge area did not work - there was no power cable between it and the socket. The location was good for the 'Mailbox' complex, but was not really city centre location.
Excellent value for money, quality accomodation The entire facility wasn't fully operational
Privacy No staff available at reception or anywhere else
Very comfortable, clean, new and modern
Brilliant location, and just so easy to come and go freely and without hassle. Very comfy and well- appointed had slight trouble working the washing machine- should probably have looked for the instructions!
Spaciousness, ultra cleanliness, central to city. Very helpful reception lady. This was a 61st birthday for my Wife and we chose initially it for it's location to the Hippodrome theatre, where we had booked for a show. But it was a very wise choice as the rooms were excellant and we enjoyed immensley the space and cleanliness.Very important to a woman...! There was some noise from the street during the night, we would have liked to try a room facing the inner courtyard next time
As ever, first class accommodation
the comfort of the room /where hotel sits /quietly next to all amenitys and like a tardis ,outside any other building inside very comfy french windows the ease of which a child could slip out, our child is 6 and very much into it all, that is if children where allowed? and being close to the ground, floor parionod of revellers wanting if they ever did of climbing up, saying all that if the rooms had air con then all windows could bshut when warm
hotel was clean and good price great loctation loved the rooms very cosy
Although the room was on the small side it was very comfortable and the room was very clean and just right for an overnight stay. The TV in the room was a bit to big and made your eyes go funny after a while!!
bed was very comfortable, very conveniant for centre of birmingham.Liked the free papers and fruit at the desk. room was too warm, thought there should be more milk and tea in the room.Bathroom door was hard to close.didnt like that there was nowhere to hang clothes.
Clean, friendly staff, very good location, free wifi, 5 minute walk from city center Room is very small,Not much room for luggage
It was very close to the Birmingham Symphony Hall and I was able to walk to and from the venue I was attending. I'm elderly and disabled, and it was very convenient for me. I liked the hotel although I'm not absolutely comfortable with the concept of no windows and relying on air conditioning for ventilation. This might be simply a factor of age, it was my first experience of this type of accommodation. I'd stay there again if I was going to Symphony Hall again.
good location for birminghambusiness trip the acoustics from the corridors are poor.
Very unique hotel, inside in the style of a ship. Very clean, comfy, modern and very friendly staff, great central location for everything.
compact room, comfy bed
Excellent condition of room, great shower, huge plasma screen at the end of the bed! No windows in the room!!
the television it was hard to heat up the room, the shower wets up the whole floor when you go to the toilet
Location, internet, breakfest, the building is nice, the reception with stairs are nice, the staff was corteous. Room is too small for the price, no windows, smells dump.
Extremely comfortable, very clean, everything I required for my stay. very good value for money. I would certainly recommend the the hotel and I will use the chain again.
Excellent central location, near both train station and high street, as well as icc. Hotel spotlessly clean. Room well furnished - tea / coffee, hairdryer etc. Very comfortable bed Could be somewhat noisy at times - could hear every noise in the corridor. Breakfast pricey & not included in price.
The friendliness and courtesy of staff. Nothing was too much bother! None!
Central location. Room too small, air vents in the wall meants draughts over the bed! Bed seemed a very small double!
Clean and tidy Charge for wifi
Well located and clean. Good facilities. No view from room
the central location, the value for money and the clean modern environment of the hotel the bar/restaurant was very crowded and noisy - but it is a city centre hotel! no shaver point in the bathroom or room.
Our beds were not done and bed linen not changed.
The location is convenient for shopping and transport services and reception and breakfast staff were helpful and prompt in attending to you. The heating system was inconsistent - warm in the hallways and very cold in my hotel room, which resulted in a poor night's sleep. My room door didn't lock from the inside but had a chain only, which made me feel less secure.
Acceptable for just one night if you need tobe close to the railway station The advertised internet access through a payable workstation did not work.
The breakfast was freshly cooked to order, the room was spaceous and clean, with polite friendly staff.
being near the shops and breakfast was very good hard beds, shower didnt work
a nice place where to spend a couple of nights. very clean and confortable, even if rooms are not so big.
staff very helpful and friendly no problem leaving bags for a few hours after checkout.Would use hotel again vey comfortable.
Easy access to the railwaystation. Good comfort and value for money.
Very well situated for Birmingham New Street Station and the Bullring Shopping Centre. Room clean, warm and well presented. Bed very comfortable. Friendly, helpful reception staff. No view to speak of through the window, but this really did not affect the enjoyment of my stay.
Warm bedroom on a very cold night. The mattresses on the twin beds were very uncomfortable with springs sticking in to you when you lay down. The noise from New St. Station was very annoying as the windows are not double glazed.
