The service was excellent and breakfast very good. The restaurants are excellent but on the expensive side. Sell the house before eating by the pool. The cost of extras is very high, the rooms and general decor very tired with cheap rather nasty furniture in the rooms, the pool is right on an exit route out of town so is noisy. Good hotel that's seen its best years.
The facilities for business use were quite poor with limited access to internet & business facilities. in the end I had to go into the town to use the internet facilities
excelent hotel with amazing sea veiws & gardens in Toarmino
the perfect hospitality; delightful staff; great pool ; very beautiful surroundings and understated elegance. no
Location, cortesia dello staff, ottimo servizio e rapporto qualità-prezzo (upgrade gratuito in una splendida suite)
Bedroom too small x price requested. For lunch only restaurant open Pool- site. Price for in hotel drinks-food exorbitant. Ambient excellent, gardens super.
The location is perfect. The building has a nice atmosphere and the service is what can be expected from a hotel in this price range. The room was small for a room in this price range. The food and beverages were unpleasantly expensive.
Staff is excellent and could not be more helpfull and patient, location perfect just minutes away from via Umberto, food good but I had better. Pool area is not good for children pool too deep and too quite.
Perfectly sited for getting into Taormina with stunning views of Etna from a gorgeously positioned garden. A very wonderful building. Everything was ridiculously expensive (even for Taormina!) so we didn't use any facilities other than the room itself and the gym. 9 Euros for a cup of tea; 20 euros for a half bottle of average wine. Rather than stimulate extra revenue from its guests, its policy seems to drive them into the arms of the surrounding businesses.
The resort staff provided superior service from check in to departure and true to advertised detail there were stunning views of the sea and Mt. Etna from the restuarant.
the staff attitude -
We stayed in junior suit with a perfect view of Etna and sea; the terrace was perfect..
The room was good, a little old but quaint. It was clean and quite large. The hotel is also old but typical of Taormina. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was quiet and the view from my room beautiful. Breakfast was also very good and the view from the restaurant is of Naxos and Etna. I think it just needs some TLC
The staff were polite and the breakfast was pretty decent. The views from the hotel of Etna and the sea were stunning. This should not be a four star hotel. We paid extra for a 'suite' but arrived to find a small room with a large balcony with a glass ceiling (sun bathing in a green house) - very basic (no mini bar, sky sport TV etc..) The website states beach & pool facilities are at the "Paradise Beach Club in Letojanni at about 10 minutes distance from the hotel". This is a lie. The beach is about 25 minutes by car alone!! If you dont drive then you can get the free hotel minibus. We did this three times and each time it arrived about 20/30 minutes late to collect us. From leaving our room to getting to the hotel pool took about 1 hour!! Avoid this hotel.
The hotel has a pleasant home-like feeling and an excellent location. At breakfast time one can enjoy the view of Mt.Etna from the rooftop terrace. Around the corner are the Public Gardens (Giardino Pubblico), very convenient for a walk in the well tended park, and again with view of Mt.Etna and the sea. At the same time only a few minutes walk away from the main corso. English speakers are well served at the front desk. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation!
not a thing everything, the rooms were dirty dust everywhere, windows were filthy, dont think they had ever been used, excuse for an air conditioning unit that was full of bug and germ bearing dust, bathroom was awful the whole place had a seady air about it and I would not put my dog in it if it were a kennal
It was very centrally located within Taormina enabling easy access to various bars and restaurants. It also offered superb panoramic views of the sea and mt Etna. Staff were very firndly and helpful. Out dated decor of rooms and reception/ lounge area of hotel
Location! I'd say is not a 4 stars hotel as advertised!
very old bed. small bathroom
We had a great view from our room that was wonderful to see each morning.
Well-designed boutique hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant is an undiscovered jewel. Self-parking facility is non-existent at the hotel. Parking in the garage is expensive.
The hotel is brand new. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is really helpful. If one arrives by car, it is advisable to book a parking place in advance.
Everything We called the hotel for directions from the road. Had they told us that they were the only modern looking hotel on the mountain , right after you pass through the main square and that it had a glass front on the right not the left we would have saved over an hour trying to find the place.
The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was very expensive. "Ceasar's Salad" comprising Lettuce ,sauce and a few croutons was €17.A very high standard of food was available in any of the restaurants locally for half the price. The Hotel lacked athmosphere as there were only a handful of people staying there the week we were there.
Chic hotel with very friendly staff ( something that Italian/Scilian hotel staff are not noted for ) Nothing was too much trouble, not only for us but for all guests some of which were very demanding.
Superb hotel overall .Great location .Spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff, Great breakfast freshly cooked to your requirements.. Size of the balconies.
Very modern and stylish hotel, nice location, in walking distance to pedestrian zone Very small rooms
Beautiful, tastefully appointed hotel. Ultra modern accommodations in a Sicillian village that blossoms with antiquity. The restaurant is fine, but visitors are in the center of a town where one cannot find a bad meal; only, as Rick Steves phrases it, better.
Very comfortable, delightful staff, close to shops and sights. I am returning for a night at the end of the month. I liked everything
Taomina town centre No sport or games, I.E. table tennis etc.
location, view, friendliness of staff, food beds are bad, linen is so-so, pillow not good
Centrally located , very clean, courteous staff. An ideal place to relax The only drawback was the check out time. I had to check out by 11.30 am and my flight home was at 10.30 pm. It would be better if the check out time was optional and if necessary client would pay according to the check out time. (Maybe charging a half day rate for check out after 2 pm )
Location was undoubtedly the biggest asset of this hotel. Perched along a sea facing cliff the views are the best money can buy. Communication with some of the staff....Italian only no english.
All the staff in the hotel were excellent and nothing was to much trouble, including parking our car as the car park is very difficult to access. Overall we would strongly recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
Excellent location, excellent staff and excellent room layout
The view Acess by foot or by car exteremly difficult
Hotel views, ease to walk to town & modern design/decor. The pool would have been a lot better had it been a 'salt water' pool, rather than clorinated. Commuting to the beach located at the bottom of the mountain got a little tiresome, but was worth it.
Excellent position near park and overlooking bay of Gardia Naxos with view of Mt Etna. Excellent friendly attentative staff, lovely clean rooms with excellent breakfast. If arriving by car awkward turn into steep road down to hotel, which could be difficult for less mobile people and young families having to walk up it.
Location was lovely. Rather expensive.
The view from the balcony was fantastic. You can see the Etna and the beautiful panorama. Our flight was at 11.30pm and we had to leave our room at Midday. which was a bit early, although we asked to extend our time in the room, we could not as the hotel was full up
Location is good and staff are very helpful The air conditioning was not switched on although the temperatures were high. The overnight temperature in our room was usually over 25C. The hotel adavised that they don't turn on the air conditioning until June.
The Dinner Swimming Pool water was not very clean
Situated in a good location 2mins walk down to centre. Pool at roof level. The hotel needs a general overhaul. It is very outdated. I would catagorise as 3star. The breakfast was poor.
fantastic views; excellent proximity to town centre; courteous staff
Obvious this was once one of the celebrity hotels, art deco but now a bit worn. Loved the feel. Staff was excellent. Spectacular views.Very affordable and I would recommend to all.
This hotel has amazing views of mount etna and the coastline. Location to Taormina's centre is excellent, within easy walking distance, although a steep walk back. Staff pleasant and helpful.
A little below a 4* standard, mainly bathroom. We are smokers and there was an ashtray in the room. Review however say smokefree hotel
Excellent location. The pool on the 7th floor is very nice providing a nice view over Taormina. Good value for money. I would definitely return. Breakfasts good definitely better than ok. we did not eat dinner in-house. There is a nice beach at the sister hotel and a return shuttle for €6. For a price/value combo in Taormina this hotel can be strongly recommended. Beach towels a bit thin, the decor is a bit faded, bed was fairly basic
The Hotel Mediterranee was excellent. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, the setting was picturesque will wonderful views and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I heard someone say that they thought that the shower was too small, but it was big enough for me!!
The facilities, the view and the location
the views having a film being made in the hotel during our stay. no thought about health and safety
luxury and intimate
The accommodations were first rate. The view from our balcony of the sea and of Mt. Etna was breathtaking. I loved the proximity of the hotel to the Taormina shopping area. I am already planning my return trip to the Grand Hotel Timeo. We ended up staying in a Junior Suite rather than the Double Deluxe Room. The signs in Taormina to the Grand Hotel Timeo could be better. It was hard for us to find the hotel entrance and the parking area.
We were not satisfied with our original room in the annex, but were upgraded to a suite in the main building with a wonderful view as soon as the staff realized our unhappiness.
the view, the swiming pool and the excellent breakfast italian staff never very dynamic
The whole atmosphere in the hotel, with all the history and kind staff
It was a wonderful experience to stay this hotel. Sprendid view..... Very difficult to get the hotel by car.
Quality of the public rooms No
The hotel was quite beautiful and well located. The breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful view was a delight. We were located in the annex which we would not have taken if we realized it. Although the room was nice, we felt isolated.
An excellent hotel in all aspects! It was the first time we spent a couple of nights there, but we would definitely like to go back, at least once a year. Relaxing, luxury and cozy at the same time. Excellent sea view from the Suite of Sultan, original design and decoration of the room and the bathroom. Mediterranean breakfast just superb. The only limitation, for people with walking problems, is the access to this hotel: through 20 stairs (and no access by car).
Everything was fantastic - but the atmosphere was stylish without being sterile. The service was attentive, warm and very competent. The restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was yummy. The only thing that redeemed our 3 days of rain - was El Jebel. This hotel would suit anyone - young or old. I would not recommend this for anyone having difficulty climbing stairs. Although our luggage was taken care of - there are still at least 20 steps to the main entrance.
The hotel was luxuriously appointed, spotlessly clean and the staff very courteous, attentive and friendly. The interior design was beautiful and cleverly executed with many attractive features. It was positioned within walking distance of shops, restaurants and historical sights. The roof terrace was disappointingly small with few sunbeds and parasols. There was a very noisy air conditioning unit within a few metres of the sunbeds. Due to the lack of a swimming pool and balcony this was a problem for relaxation. In hotels literature there was a beach club advertised but no mention that it would not open until the 1st June. As we arrived on the 28.05.10 this was a disappointment. The beach club was clean with good facilities and friendly staff, but as it was shared with a 3 star establishment was a little mediocre for a 5 star luxury hotel.
Excelant view Breakfast was a little poor
Building is superb as is location. Suites are well designed and reasonably spacious. Friendly and helpful staff. There are a number of extra charges that are not expected with a five-star establishment eg for beach club use; for wifi and for parking and incidentally the parking is not on-site as suggested on the website. The standard continental breakfast though adequate is a tad on the meagre side.
The room and the staff were terrific
Intimate, luxurious and very good value out of season. A room you don't want to leave The shower didn't drain quickly enough
The service and staff were excellent but as far as I could tell there were only one other couple staying at the time. It needs to be seen how they would cope in the high season. The design of rooms and and bathrooms was first rate and functional. The main restaurant menu was the only menu on offer for room service. For a hotel of this there should be another choice.
The room and location No pool!
A perfect boutique hotel in the hearth of Taormina! The hotel staff were very professional and courteous. They spoke perfect English. The waiters at breakfast were exceptional serving a multi-course breakfast of our choice. The room was luxurious but not overdone. Comfortable beds, silent airconditioning, tastefully decorated, amazing views! The bathroom was exceptionally clean with the most elegant fixtures I have ever seen. Internet wifi available for free. The hotel is excellent located in Taormina (Sicily's Monte Carlo!), everything is within walking distance in this historic town. From the hotel's terrace (cool bar & restaurant on the rooftop) you have a superb view over Sicily's East-coast with Etna and Mediterranean sea! We will be going back to El Jebel that is for sure! One of the best hotels I have stayed at!
In the oldtown, nice view, clean rooms, good price
Excellent! It was a pleasure to be in such an historic hotel, which has retained much of it's charm but been updated to meet current guest expectations. The book describing the history of the Hotel, left in each visitor's room, is fascinating. The family continuity adds greatly to the understanding, enjoyment and ambience of the Villa. Leaving after so short a stay.
View (when I could see it) I chose larger room with view and tub - the air conditioning was not powerful too cool the room, even after the manager had an engineer "repair it". In order to get it cool enough I had to close the shutters leaving me with no view - even then the Temp at night was 28 degrees. Ants found in room and on bed. Manager also got lost his temper and shouted at me.
excellent wiev, beatiful gardens, unbelievable location, super breakfast, very kind and helpfull staff at recepsion desk the waiter at the breakfast time, young woman, was impolite and nervous, she was distressed us! plastic chairs at the balconies
The staff at Hotel Villa Schuler are exceptional; well motivated, warm and friendly, intelligent and keen to help. Villa Schuler provides an a la carte breakfast service that works well when the (excellent) staff can cope, but they were overwhelmed on our first morning, when the hotel was full. The management should consider providing a buffet - at least for the breakfast essentials. The front desk recommendation of places to dine appeared motivated more by price (helping guests avoid being 'ripped off', which is important in Taormina) than quality - and included one resturant where quality was, in our experience, inferior.
The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hotel had the most spectacular views and beautiful gardens. The breakfasts were delicious and served on a terrace overlooking the bay. Our room was a de luxe room, very large with sea views. The hotel is very central for the main part of Taormina but if you want the beach, for a small fee, there is a shuttle service provided to take you.
wonderful hotel, great staff. breakfast was amazing. excellent setting and so close to all the sights
Breakfast excellent Parking difficult
the location, the staff & the gardens
A man stood outside waiting for us, asking our name and saying there were expecting us. Before we knew it, he had taken our heavy suitcases out of the car and into our room! On top of that, he took care of the car. The service was a breeze as well as the comfort of the room. German efficiency, thoroughness and cleanliness combined with the Mediterranean culture: excellent! 15 euro for parking is a lot, but necessary over there. It might be an idea though to park your car by the 'ski' lift, transporting people from the beach to Taormina center for 3 euro return. Walk from there, 200 metres from the centre.
Interior design - a small hotel, few rooms - personal service/staff - location nothing, just perfect
Lovely villa......the breakfasts are homemade items both unique to a buffet and delicious. Rosalie and Elena are wonderful hosts for the villa.
The breakfast was very good, service was excellent and location was perfect. The view, we did really have such a good view. The beds were not that comfortable, they did not match the comfort level of the hotel and the service.
Fantastic location, courteous staff and great room - hotel is set back of main street so quiet but near enough for all attractions etc The pool is a lot smaller than it looks in their pictures, but this is a minor issue as beach not too far
We arrived at 9pm where the hotel staff were alert and welcoming. Hotel is beautiful and in a good location just off the main shopping street Corso Umberto I with its own private lime tree garden. Very clean and fresh room with modern fixtures and fittings. Breakfast was delightful with very nice croissants. Would recommend room with balcony. Walls were quite thin could hear people in the next room talking.
in the heart of taormina/clean/modern/wonderful large showers small dogs yelping in hallways
This hotel is recommended. The location is great and the garden is very nice. The breakfast could be improved. We ask for an advice regarding nearest beaches, and one of the staff recommended us on a specific beach and called for a pick up... we waited for 45 minutes for a van with which, finally, had no room for us. It was very dissapointing and the staff memebr didn't reach well to our compalin.
The breakfast was good value with alot of choices. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The hotel was near the main shopping street which was very convenient and near good cafes and restaurants.
Amazing little rooftop swimming pool, really friendly and helpful staff, very stylish decor and great location. A real gem of a hotel
Staff were very friendly and the location was excellent. Rooms were very clean. Just a short cable car ride from the beach. Hotel was quite expensive although it seems all of Taormina is expensive. The roof-top pool is much smaller than in the photos and was quite dirty.
Staff very good and polite. Room good and value for money off season. Breakfast adequate
Staff were friendly and accommodating to requests. Location excellent in Taormina.
The staff. Plus the city of Taormina.
location (Corso Umberto, main street), friendly staff, clean room. street noise
The staff where very friendly and helpful, the room was quiet and comfortable and as I had a last minute deal, excellent value. I decided to stay an extra night it was so nice. The location is excellent, right on the main street. Unfortunately I has a view of the wall behind but considering the cheap rate I can't complain.
Location was brilliant... on the main street of town
Helpful staff. Great location right on main street. Spacious rooms. Parking is a bit tight but not unusual in these areas.
Helpful staff. Well situated in Toarmina plus parking available.
The hotel was in perfect position on the main, pedestrian street of Taormina - everywhere was easy to reach. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. The room was quiet, comfortable and spotless and the breakfast was excellent.
Very central location and with a quiet room in the back, now problems with noise. Large and almost open breakfast room on top of building.
Very good location, central and convenient to shops, resturants and places of interest.Good value. Clean and comfortable.
First and further most our room was very clean and this goes also for the whole hotel. Its location could not be any better. Staff very friendly, socialable and helpful. I would definitely stay at the hotel again if I have the chance. Breakfast was Ok, but I believe that including a couple of items more will make it far better, and would surely meet everyone's needs.
Very good location if you want to stay in the heart of city with all the restaurants and pedestrian street nearby. Staying here you are in the center of action. Would recommend this hotel for travelers to Sicily. Was quite noisy as our window looked to the pedestrian street. Nevertheless it was not a big matter to us.
the best hotel we have ever stayed in!!! excellent value for money, the best view from a bedroom window i have ever seen!!!! the most helpfull staff, no children, very relaxing, healthy food, great pool, just the right ammount of rooms, very modern, Jim Kerr, very nice down to earth man.... loved it!!!! my wife will not go anywhere else. nothing
Friendliness of all staff from chamber maid to rececptionist Thought rooms a bit small for price - but terrace magnificent
We had an excellent family room of a king and two singles at a reduced rate (summer special at E360/night from E500). The villa is almost at the top of the mountain village and had wonderful views of Etna, the town and coastal towns. Although slightly out of the main part of town, there is a spectacular walk down to the town's main street (and either a Villa shuttle return of Taxi (E10). The staff was excellent in helping us retrieve an ipod from the previous hotel we visited and was keen to point out places to eat in the village. This was the best hotel we stayed in during our tour by far.
The front desk staff was welcoming, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Having a swimming pool on site is a plus. Breakfast served with freshly cooked local veggies and good variety of dishes. Our beds (twins) were uncomfortable for us.
The food - fantastic breakfast buffet..probably the best we had at any of the hotels in Italy. They offer lunch, too, which was also wonderful. Excellent chef. Had a problem with our dry cleaning - sheet said if they received it by 9:00 am we would have it back by 7:00 pm. However, it was not returned that evening and we had to wait for it the day after it was due which delayed our departure by 3 hours. Since the hotel is the one promising, they really should have waived the cleaning fee whether it was the fault of the dry cleaner or their own.
The location and staff at the hotel were EXCELLENT.Superb views were beautifull to wake up to.The accomidations were superb for me and my family.(clean, modern & classy) The staff of Pierro,Kathereen, and the rest were so helpfull in everyway possible. They could not do enough for us.Great recomendations on restaurants.Plenty ways to get to center city especially by hotel taxi service.Wonderfull breakfast buffet with breath taking views. I would not hold this against Villa Angela but if you are looking for a beach resort this hotel is far from beach. You just have to make accomidations to get there by taxi service or tram which may be a little hastle, but the trade off is worth it.
1. The staff are fantastic: they are all really interested in making sure you have a great stay. 2. the rooms are modern and clean, and the dining facilities are very good: plenty of breakfast choices. This was a very good hotel, and in a great location on top of the town. I was very pleased with this choice of hotel, and would recommend it to others. Two minor items just to be aware of: 1. be careful going in and out of the parking lot (which sits on top of hotel), as the 'ramps' are steep and you can bump the bottom of your car on them. 2. just be aware that the rooms have thin walls, and sound travels well in the corridors!
Very friendly & helpful staff, lovely well appointed room, fantastic breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay & Mount Etna!
Fantastic hotel, terrific location, staff were impeccable, well worth the the expensive rate.
First of all, the courtesy of the staff is second to none. Secondly the Villa enjoys oustanding views of Mount Etna and is located in a quiet area of Taormina. The City centre can be reached by the shuttle service offered by the hotel. No. However being a small hotel of around 27 rooms, I would suggest a happy hour where hotel residents can have the opportunity to get to know each other and share experiences.
Very friendly staf, good location, few steps to main sguare of Taormina, clean rooms, I can highly recomend this hotel.
location was not very far from the main street It was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms look totally shabby. There walls and ceiling in the bathroom were partly covered with the mildew. The room and the bathroom didn't look also very clean. The blinds were damaged or sth - they made noise almost the whole night. All together looked rather as the second-rate motel than the 3*** hotel which it supposed to be. Moreover, the breakfast was uneatable. And last but not least - coffee was disgusting - I still cannot understand how it could happen in the country famous for its coffee-drinking culture? I hardly could find places I tried such a bad coffee even in my own country. The majority of the staff I've met there didn't speak english well. Concluding - be warned.
location near main street in Taormina nearest payable parking 10 min walk away
Hotel was clean and the location was very good. The view was spectacular The hotel was dated and in serious need of modernisation. More suited for mature people
I have enjoyed the fact that it was very well located in the center of Taormina and one could easily reach the dining areas as well as the bus terminal. I really disliked the breakfast, it was to less in terms of food (I mean, it was not enough for the persons accomodated there) and if anybody would require for more, the waitress would not get anything (even though there was an open buffet).
