Chic hotel with very friendly staff ( something that Italian/Scilian hotel staff are not noted for ) Nothing was too much trouble, not only for us but for all guests some of which were very demanding.
Well-designed boutique hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant is an undiscovered jewel. Self-parking facility is non-existent at the hotel. Parking in the garage is expensive.
Very modern and stylish hotel, nice location, in walking distance to pedestrian zone Very small rooms
The hotel is brand new. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is really helpful. If one arrives by car, it is advisable to book a parking place in advance.
The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was very expensive. "Ceasar's Salad" comprising Lettuce ,sauce and a few croutons was €17.A very high standard of food was available in any of the restaurants locally for half the price. The Hotel lacked athmosphere as there were only a handful of people staying there the week we were there.
Beautiful, tastefully appointed hotel. Ultra modern accommodations in a Sicillian village that blossoms with antiquity. The restaurant is fine, but visitors are in the center of a town where one cannot find a bad meal; only, as Rick Steves phrases it, better.
Superb hotel overall .Great location .Spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff, Great breakfast freshly cooked to your requirements.. Size of the balconies.
Very comfortable, delightful staff, close to shops and sights. I am returning for a night at the end of the month. I liked everything
Everything We called the hotel for directions from the road. Had they told us that they were the only modern looking hotel on the mountain , right after you pass through the main square and that it had a glass front on the right not the left we would have saved over an hour trying to find the place.
The accommodations were first rate. The view from our balcony of the sea and of Mt. Etna was breathtaking. I loved the proximity of the hotel to the Taormina shopping area. I am already planning my return trip to the Grand Hotel Timeo. We ended up staying in a Junior Suite rather than the Double Deluxe Room. The signs in Taormina to the Grand Hotel Timeo could be better. It was hard for us to find the hotel entrance and the parking area.
It was a wonderful experience to stay this hotel. Sprendid view..... Very difficult to get the hotel by car.
the view, the swiming pool and the excellent breakfast italian staff never very dynamic
The hotel was quite beautiful and well located. The breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful view was a delight. We were located in the annex which we would not have taken if we realized it. Although the room was nice, we felt isolated.
Quality of the public rooms No
We were not satisfied with our original room in the annex, but were upgraded to a suite in the main building with a wonderful view as soon as the staff realized our unhappiness.
The facilities, the view and the location
The whole atmosphere in the hotel, with all the history and kind staff
the views having a film being made in the hotel during our stay. no thought about health and safety
luxury and intimate
Great hotel with beautiful landscaping and pool setting. Staff were very friendly and effiicient and took care of the parking for us. Wonderful breakfast...one of the best on our 3 week trip thru out Sicily. Booked the standard room but would highly recommend upgrading to one with a terrace and balcony (worth the extra euros). I loved this hotel!!! Standard room a little dated compared to the rest of the hotel which was marvelous.
The most beautiful view ever, poolside fabulous, great service, and helpful staff. Walking distance to sites and shopping. Hope to return. Request ocean view and terrace. Great food (breakfast and lunch til 4 pm poolside). Parking available and assisted by staff.
Great staff, relaxing pool, area lovely breakfast & dining area easy walk to the centre None
The views were breathtaking and the staff were lovely. Couldnt do enough. Bedrooms a little dated Could upgrade the rooms in keeping with the stunning location
Very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wonderful views and fabulous gardens. Good location 5 mins walk to town centre.
Location! I'd say is not a 4 stars hotel as advertised!
the staff attitude -
It was very centrally located within Taormina enabling easy access to various bars and restaurants. It also offered superb panoramic views of the sea and mt Etna. Staff were very firndly and helpful. Out dated decor of rooms and reception/ lounge area of hotel
The hotel has a pleasant home-like feeling and an excellent location. At breakfast time one can enjoy the view of Mt.Etna from the rooftop terrace. Around the corner are the Public Gardens (Giardino Pubblico), very convenient for a walk in the well tended park, and again with view of Mt.Etna and the sea. At the same time only a few minutes walk away from the main corso. English speakers are well served at the front desk. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation!
We stayed in junior suit with a perfect view of Etna and sea; the terrace was perfect..
very old bed. small bathroom
The room was good, a little old but quaint. It was clean and quite large. The hotel is also old but typical of Taormina. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was quiet and the view from my room beautiful. Breakfast was also very good and the view from the restaurant is of Naxos and Etna. I think it just needs some TLC
We had a great view from our room that was wonderful to see each morning.
The staff were polite and the breakfast was pretty decent. The views from the hotel of Etna and the sea were stunning. This should not be a four star hotel. We paid extra for a 'suite' but arrived to find a small room with a large balcony with a glass ceiling (sun bathing in a green house) - very basic (no mini bar, sky sport TV etc..) The website states beach & pool facilities are at the "Paradise Beach Club in Letojanni at about 10 minutes distance from the hotel". This is a lie. The beach is about 25 minutes by car alone!! If you dont drive then you can get the free hotel minibus. We did this three times and each time it arrived about 20/30 minutes late to collect us. From leaving our room to getting to the hotel pool took about 1 hour!! Avoid this hotel.
not a thing everything, the rooms were dirty dust everywhere, windows were filthy, dont think they had ever been used, excuse for an air conditioning unit that was full of bug and germ bearing dust, bathroom was awful the whole place had a seady air about it and I would not put my dog in it if it were a kennal
The view to Isola Bella was amazing. Really nice continental buffet breakfast. Family with kids on the next room, earplugs necessary when having siesta
Professional staff resolved problem with the A/C by changing rooms for us when hotel was fully booked.
Friendly, helpful staff -- nothing seems too much trouble. Hotel seems well-appointed, well-maintained, well-cleaned.
Beautiful, clean, new hotel. Great staff. Wonderful breakfast.
The beachside location was fantastic with beautiful panoramic views over Isolabella Beach. The hotel is far enough away from the town crowds, but close enough to the action when required - a short 80m walk to the fenicular. The staff are brilliant - anticipating our every need. The breakfast food was plentiful, and the pastries divine. There is a rail line below, however the hotel sliding doors are double glazed, so couldn't hear it.. and I am a very light sleeper. There are a couple of restaurants within 50m of hotel, or you can order in pizza for a relaxing night. It is definitely a value for money hotel. I would not hesitate to stay again. I highly recommend this hotel.
The views of Isola Bella were stunning. The weather was atrocious and there was nothing to do indoors. A pool or gym would have been good.
Staff were excellent. Breakfast selection very good. Pity there was no dining room for evening meals.
everything was spot on. The staff fell over backwards to assist. a bit pricey
Location, views. Taormina city
Beautiful situated, great views!! Walking distance to cable car, good resrtaurants nearby, spacious rooms, big lovely beds ( great matrass ) and a view to die for....! Very helpfull and friendly staff.
View (when I could see it) I chose larger room with view and tub - the air conditioning was not powerful too cool the room, even after the manager had an engineer "repair it". In order to get it cool enough I had to close the shutters leaving me with no view - even then the Temp at night was 28 degrees. Ants found in room and on bed. Manager also got lost his temper and shouted at me.
A man stood outside waiting for us, asking our name and saying there were expecting us. Before we knew it, he had taken our heavy suitcases out of the car and into our room! On top of that, he took care of the car. The service was a breeze as well as the comfort of the room. German efficiency, thoroughness and cleanliness combined with the Mediterranean culture: excellent! 15 euro for parking is a lot, but necessary over there. It might be an idea though to park your car by the 'ski' lift, transporting people from the beach to Taormina center for 3 euro return. Walk from there, 200 metres from the centre.
wonderful hotel, great staff. breakfast was amazing. excellent setting and so close to all the sights
In the oldtown, nice view, clean rooms, good price
the location, the staff & the gardens
The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hotel had the most spectacular views and beautiful gardens. The breakfasts were delicious and served on a terrace overlooking the bay. Our room was a de luxe room, very large with sea views. The hotel is very central for the main part of Taormina but if you want the beach, for a small fee, there is a shuttle service provided to take you.
Breakfast excellent Parking difficult
Excellent! It was a pleasure to be in such an historic hotel, which has retained much of it's charm but been updated to meet current guest expectations. The book describing the history of the Hotel, left in each visitor's room, is fascinating. The family continuity adds greatly to the understanding, enjoyment and ambience of the Villa. Leaving after so short a stay.
excellent wiev, beatiful gardens, unbelievable location, super breakfast, very kind and helpfull staff at recepsion desk the waiter at the breakfast time, young woman, was impolite and nervous, she was distressed us! plastic chairs at the balconies
The staff at Hotel Villa Schuler are exceptional; well motivated, warm and friendly, intelligent and keen to help. Villa Schuler provides an a la carte breakfast service that works well when the (excellent) staff can cope, but they were overwhelmed on our first morning, when the hotel was full. The management should consider providing a buffet - at least for the breakfast essentials. The front desk recommendation of places to dine appeared motivated more by price (helping guests avoid being 'ripped off', which is important in Taormina) than quality - and included one resturant where quality was, in our experience, inferior.
Accessibility to town, beautiful pool, well appointed room, hotel fit out with good quality paintings and furniture.Room overlooking the pool and the view to the sea.In all an excellent place to stay They could probably increse the output of the air conditionining.Difficult to keep room cool in hot summer.
Beatiful views over the Bay, location within 5 mins walking of centre, lovely pool, friendly staff. Cost of Car Parking 8 euros per day.
Very convenient to bus station, cable car and Taormina town. Pool area very nice as was bar balcony, with a nice view. Public areas very attractive. Free use of internet computer an advantage
very nice location, in the city up on the mountain, nice view. But shower room must be refurbiched.
Its proximity to the town and the views were spectacular. Gardens were well done Not really, we were there off season and the pool was shut, I suppose this was understandable
Very well run hotel, great staff, fantastic views, walking distance to town centre. Partition walls between rooms are to light, and the hill out of the hotel was very steep.
The location was great and we had a room with wonderful views. The breakfast was excellent and the choices changed each day. It was only a short walk to the old town and the cable car. Car parking was great - very hard to get in Taormina. The only entrance and exit was down a very very steep circular driveway. Once you had climbed that the rest was easy.
Modern, comfortable, ideal, located with the attentive intelligent stuff, big rooms, easy to come to the center of Taormina and to the see. Nothing
The location was great; overlooking the coastline and only a few minutes walk from the heart of Taormina.
Location was undoubtedly the biggest asset of this hotel. Perched along a sea facing cliff the views are the best money can buy. Communication with some of the staff....Italian only no english.
All the staff in the hotel were excellent and nothing was to much trouble, including parking our car as the car park is very difficult to access. Overall we would strongly recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
The view Acess by foot or by car exteremly difficult
Taomina town centre No sport or games, I.E. table tennis etc.
Excellent location, excellent staff and excellent room layout
location, view, friendliness of staff, food beds are bad, linen is so-so, pillow not good
Centrally located , very clean, courteous staff. An ideal place to relax The only drawback was the check out time. I had to check out by 11.30 am and my flight home was at 10.30 pm. It would be better if the check out time was optional and if necessary client would pay according to the check out time. (Maybe charging a half day rate for check out after 2 pm )
Location was lovely. Rather expensive.
Excellent position near park and overlooking bay of Gardia Naxos with view of Mt Etna. Excellent friendly attentative staff, lovely clean rooms with excellent breakfast. If arriving by car awkward turn into steep road down to hotel, which could be difficult for less mobile people and young families having to walk up it.
Hotel views, ease to walk to town & modern design/decor. The pool would have been a lot better had it been a 'salt water' pool, rather than clorinated. Commuting to the beach located at the bottom of the mountain got a little tiresome, but was worth it.
Everything about Hotel Villa Carlotta is beautiful- location, design, ambience and the views are lovely. i have to highly recommend the staff who are second to none and make your whole stay a pleasure from beginning to end. I was unwell while staying there and they were extemely kind and helpful. It was all good.
location/ view and design; very friendly & useful staff
Staff very friendly and helpful - suite was spacious and upstairs bar and restaurant very really good
Fantastic luxury elegant hotel, beautiful cosy room overlooking the ocean, super roof top terrace where a royal breakfast is served, very nice garden & pool area and extremely professional and attentive staff, they cater a great hotel service. We will be back.
Breakfast on the terrace was really amazing. Both food & location... It was not so close to the Center around 10 minutes walk..
Staff was excellent. The breakfast was delicious!! Our foom was more than I expected!
We truly enjoyed our stay
This was a wonderful, small boutique hotel in a magical location which exceeded our expectations . The location is secluded enough from the bustling crowds but close to all of the main attractions of the wonderful Taormina .It has recently been refurbished so everything is new but very well done. Our room was large and very tastefully decorated. with a large balcony with a breathtaking view of the ocean and the hotel nice garden . We spent much of our time on the balcony with a bottle of wine relaxing on the comfortable outdoor furniture enjoying the view. The bathroom was decked out in marble with unique toiletries , robes and slippers ... in other words, we felt the character and chic style , very Italian. The colors they chose are so airy and the room is delightfully spacious . The buffet breakfast was a massive spread of European elegance, not a tacky American buffet- and you were also able to order items from a menu in addition (included in the price), such as crepes... the wait staff was just perfect .In fact the entire time of our stay, we had nothing but an excellent staff- they have mastered when to approach you and when to leave you be- very flawless service in a friendly way, not snooty at all. Taormina is great and staying at this hotel made it even better!
Very homely hotel with helpful staff. Nothing
Location, helpfulness of staff, breakfasts, views - just about everything. A tad expensive, but worth every penny !!
The view is impecable, the rooms decent and the staff very friendly The fact that one has a 180 step trip down to the pool
The view is great. It is close to funicular, although a bit far from town center. All the employees are very helpful. Parking place is great advantage if you have a car. The room furniture and bathroom needs to be renovated. The view of balcony is great, but needs some more stylish and comfortable furniture.
Having only the website to assist us in making our decision we were disappointed when we finally arrived at the hotel. What was surely a very impressive hotel at one stage we found to be rather dated and not as comfortable as we had been led to believe.
The view was excellant of the sea. The staff helpful. Great breakfast. I had twin beds and they were extremely small.
A comfortable hotel just outside the town with wonderful views out to sea but on the wrong side of the town to see Etna. Expensive in high season. Pool is over 180 steps downhill and only accessible to the very fit as the climb in high temperatures is strenuous. This information is not given in the details. It closes at 17.30. The restaurant was very lifeless.
The view is beautiful. Car parking available. Paper thin walls - could hear everything from adjacent rooms and corridor. Beds like concrete. Bathroom dated - flushing mechanism extremely loud. Claim to have bar which consists of some glasses on a table by the dining room - never saw it manned...
very good location (vis a vis Interbus station). The room was clean, air conditioning was working well. The hotel has a nice, clean pool (15-20m long) with seats and umbrellas. Breakfast was also good (bufet). our room was overlooking the parking, not the sea..
This was our second trip. How different! The pool was roped off.The Sunbathing area and loungers were filthy, and after 200steps Down to the pool the Bar and Snack area was closed. The Air con in our room was not operating and the only shower was hand held. The place was almost empty.
Beatiful location, one of the best breakfasts, beautiful views...a wonderful place. A bit expensive
the view air con did not work, just fobbed us of when we informed them.bed linen clean but smelt stale
Our room was good but initially we were put into a room which which was not acceptable. We were moved to the class of room we had booked. The hotel is not of 4 star quality. Many features of the hotel are poor. Much of the furniture is broken or damaged. Many facilities are very out-of-date. Above all, the management of the hotel is poor.
Location impressive and internal decor whilst not everyones taste was baroque retro which I quite liked . Pool ambience and view good . Lack of a bar at pool a wasted opportunity . Waiter service at pool sporadic and quite expensive plus food menu limited or on request not available . Staff quite friendly but an imposing old guy with sun glasses who stalked around created an 'atmosphere' and was as friendly as rabies in a guide dog home . Better if he wasn't there.
Unfortunately we liked nothing about our stay at this hotel The hotel is totally outdated. It appears to be living on past glories. While we did not expect sea views, since we did not select this option, the room we were assigned was very poorly finished and consisted partly of a poorly constructed extension to the main building looking out on a rock face. The hotel had great potential to preserve its former heritage but it looked bleak and drab as if no improvements were made in many years. We left after one night of a planned three night stay. The receptionist did offer us another room if we wished to stay but unfortunately the damage was done and we could not shake off our feeling of discontent
The hotel building was really beautiful. If new management took it over, it could be an amazing property. As it is, I felt like they were charging as much money as they could while providing as little services as cheaply as possible. The services were non-existent. No restaurant, difficult to find anyone in the breakfast room to even get coffee, of three people at the front desk one was quite helpful, one ambivalent and one was breathtakingly rude
Beautiful hotel and views Staff a little disinterested
Absolutely nothing. It was difficult to get there by car, They had no internet, no credit card facilities, no powerpoints in the room, decor was old and gloomy.
Wonderful furniture, furnishings, fantastic view and a bookshelf full of English books just placed casually in the corridor. Very helpful staff, on hand to help
Rooms needs updating. Great breakfast with amazing views from hotel. Very good value. Great pool. Very helpful staff.would recommend 4th floor needs updating
room did not even have toilet paper in the bathroom, air conditioning sounds as if its about to die of asthma
The Pool & the view if we'd had one Wet bath towels on arrival, hairdrier fell apart, airconditioning broke down, not very helpfull staff, no food or drinks available though day, poor value for a 4* hotel.
