Loved the size and character - it was huge! We only stayed for one night, but we could have stayed for a week. Great location close to Il Campo and lots of good restaurants and shops nearby. Breakfast was great - fresh cappuccinos and all! There was not a thing I did not like :)
Breakfast was great. The host was kind and business like and they were good about letting us leave our bags for a bit. Also I left something behind and they were good about sending it to me. I don't have anything
In the centre. Nice old caracteristic building. Friendly staff. Beautifull room and bathroom with a coffeemaker, water and a fridge for free. Bit noisy, but that's comes with living in the centre
The staff were really moast helpful and a source of much useful information. The room was very clean and very well decorated (with painted ceiling and painted furniture) and the bathroom probably the cleanest of any hotel I've stayed in. The breakfast was very substantial.
Location of hotel. within easy walking distance of sights. Also quiet at night. The slightly odd decoration of the rooms. The style is psycodelic spunging. Nothing offemsive but delightfully odd.
Great breakfast, charming room, afforable, nice staff. highly recommend
Location was good, close to the Piazza del Campo but far enough that it wasn't noisy. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and fairly spacious. Breakfast had a fair spread, including croissants, cheese, cereal etc. Our room on the first floor smelled like cigarette smoke. The decor of the room was not great, but I guess this doesn't really matter.
The hotel has no lift, baggage must be brought up on the stairs; breakfast room is insufficient, we had to go outside to a coffee bar to have breakfast at our expense! The hotel has no parking, and it is located in an historical area where car parking is not permitted: the guests must park their cars at public parkings miles far from the hotel!!!
Spacious rooms with a good breakfast and location
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the location made easy access to the main square. The croissants at breakfast were very good. The shower screen and fittings were broken. I pointed this out to the staff but nothing was done. The paint work needed a refurbishment. The shabby chic look was more shabby than chic and I don't think it works for a hotel.
Staff was nice close to compo For the price better room . BreAkfast would be nice.
The staff was very helpful and the room was clean. Inconvenient charging options for phone, no electrical outlets near the bed, only one in the room by the door and one in the bathroom. Window overlooking the main street outside the Campo seemed like it would be a great location, but was noisy all night.
I enjoyed everthing about my stay in this hotel. At first I was a bit worried as I got the bus to the hotel from the train station and it seemed ages to the town. but when I arrived the landlady at the hotel showed me the quick way to the piazza del campo which took only 10 mins to walk. The whole experience of Siena was fantastic. the hotel staff were fantastic and firendly. the room i stayed in was also brilliant. Nothing at all.
The staff are very helpful, the location is great and it has parking. Wifi dosn't reach your room though which makes it hard to do business. The beds are very good, rooms are very clean. Family run, a great place to stay.
The girl at the front desk was so friendly and helpful, Her name was Lornna. She was always cheerful. We emailed and asked if we could get one large bed instead of the twins that were only avaliable at the time we booked. Sure enough Lornna got the message and found us a better room....so we stayed an extra night. Thanks again There was nothing we didnt like. But if you are not much of a walker,be prepared to walk up the steep hill. its a great way to burn of the pasta and wine calories that go alone with and italy vacation
Rooms abit small for 3 pax.
Hotel is very well placed in one of the world's finest little cities. Just outside the walls and about 10 minutes from the Campo. Ample free parking on site. Large clean supervised pool with adjacent Snack Bar.Breakfast simple but adequate.Great view of Siena from the hotel. Loud piped music at the poolside (Guns n Roses every afternoon). No air conditioning. The receptionist tried to convince us that the walls were in some way cleverly refridgerated, but I fear we paid a bit extra only to get the benefit of thick walls and not real air conditioning.Be careful when billed to check they correctly charge for extras ( we nearly paid twice for drinks taken from the bar)
Convenience to Sienna, swimming pool
Closeness to town centre. Nice swimming pool. Breakfast could have been better!
The owners are very friendly and helpful and speak several different languages. They were very accommodating with any of our requests and found us another room when we decided to stay an extra night. There is free internet access and a good breakfast. The hotel is a nice walk into town. We had a delightful stay there. We appreciated being able to park our car for free there too.
Staff friendliness and helpfulness
Albergo Centrale is situated very close to the campo and the main shopping street in Siena. Perfect location for shopping and exploring the city. It is possible to drive to the Albergo but there are many one-way streets. It was easy to find parking (even free parking) but not that close to. Perfect place for us.The balcony was nice. I don't have anything that I did not like. Guests should be aware that there is no escalator and it is on 4th floor. Do not choose it if you have problems with stairs.
The location was excellent and the staff friendly. Although the beds were lovely and fabulously crisp clean linen, they need new pillows. Also not good for disabled/unfit with 6 flights of stairs up the three floors, but the balconies are worth it:-)
Excellent location for Siena city, very helpful staff, cute room with balcony. Driving into the centre of Siena is an absolute nightmare (would recommend parking outside of city and getting a taxi to your accommodation). Five flights of stairs and no lift makes this hotel not for the infirm or physically challenged! Old pipes caused very unpleasant smell in bathroom but Stefano sorted that for us :)
friendly staff, very good central location, really liked views from the window across roof tops to il campo 3 floors-6 flights of stairs would exclude me going back with my parents for example
The location was great and the price was right. Because I exercise alot I considered the 70 stairs a part of daily workout. The sheets and towels did smell funny, like they were washed in vinegar and not rinsed well. But they were clean and crisp.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location, quiet street but a quick walk to everything. Be prepared for the stairs!
Some rooms are three floors up, with no lift. Given the heritage character of the hotel I could forgive this, but I was also disappointed with the reception staff, who appeared to show little interest in us on arrival, or subsequently. There was no explanation of what facilities (if any) were available for breakfast, for example. On the day of departure we were asked to be out of our room before the formal check-out time. On the positive side the room was clean, the facilities adequate, and it was well-located.
Location Staff who smoked in communal areas
The location of the hotel was ideal for a short city break to the beautiful Siena due to the short distance to the main square. Beds were a bit lumpy
Pleasant staff. Very poor breakfast for a 3 star and over priced in comparison with other 3 stars we stayed in during our trip to Italy. The breakfast room was very small and pokey and there was a smell of cigarette smoke due to one of the staff smoking on the premises. Bathroom toiletries were limited. Due to the fact that this hotel is situated in an old tower, we found the whole building very claustrophobic.
great location can be noisy if overlooking the market square
The location of the hotel was good for accessibility to the centre of Siena. Room was clean. No elevator and lots of stairs. Ordered a twin room, got a queen, no twin room available.
quaint, excellent location no elevator (lift) and therefore not for the disabled or frail
Hotel was okay but noisy and facilities were lacking. Would not stay there again unless staying in room on top floor.
Not often you get to stay in a 500 yr old building!! The hotel is really well done, and comfortable.
