Staff friendly and helpful; fabulous location walkable to Balboa Park; free parking available; huge room; extremely comfortable bed; roof top dining for breakfast; reasonable rates. We have stayed there before and would stay there again. We had some misty rain, unusual for San Diego. Not the hotels fault.
It was good to have free parking available next to the hotel although spaces ae limited
location is great and the staff really do a tremendous job; They are friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit dated but the bed was very comfortable.
Position close to Bilboa park that allowed us to do sports, kitchen facilities, clealiness of the room, breakfast served on penthouse, staff availability and support. no
The front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. Loved the feel of the place, kind of old European style apartments. It felt quaint and historic. Loved the location, within walking distance to Balboa museums and zoo, quick drive to Gaslamp and Hillcrest. Lack of air conditioning. It was hot when we were staying there.
The staff was good and kind. The restaurant is also good. The facilities are little old( but be kept clean), and my room had little bad-smelling.
The bed was comfortable, location next to baboa park bathroom had no room in it,very small, view on 5th floor was of the 7-11 and apartment buildings.
Outstanding staff: Best welcome ever. Excellent location next to Balboa Park and Hillcrest. Very good for kids. Nice little kitchen. Free parking. Exceptional view from our room and from the roof. It is an old hotel: personally I liked that historic feel, but others might not.
The view of Balboa Park is priceless. The nice breeze from San Diego Bay was refreshing. The roof top breakfast was amazing. The large spacious rooms were comforting.
Really great stay. The free wireless throughout the hotel was great. Breakfast wasn't wonderful but certainly not something to avoid.
Staff was nice but unprofessional, I shared a room with 5 homeless men. Upon arrival, room had foul stench and there was no mattress on the bed, simply a foam mattress topper, no more than 2 inches thick. Pillow was comparable to a bag with a newspaper stuffed into it. Overall not an ideal place, very loud and filthy. White bed frames were full of dirt and questionable stains. Bathrooms were small and not cleaned enough for their mass use. After, reluctantly falling asleep I woke up in the middle of the night to itching and several bug bites, only to find small bugs in my sheets. I can not say for sure that they were bed bugs, but regardless they left welt sized bites along the side of my stomach. Overall, horrible experience I left less than 3 hours after arriving and opted to sleep in my car for the rest of my stay in San Diego. Having stayed in hostels abroad in europe and asia, the Hostel Habibi would more accurately be described as a homeless youth shelter. Upon trying to request a refund, I was referred to my booking website, whom upon calling the hotel was told that they wouldn't refund me for the rest of my stay. Steer Clear of Hostel Habibi
