Everything - we visited the hotel to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary & were not disappointed. The scenery & location was perfect. The hotel staff were fantastic throughout our stay ; the local food & wine were excellent. The best endorsement for the hotel is to say that we intend to return next year ; am looking forward to it already. Nothing ; however beware if you do not like climbing stairs as there are quite a few throughout the hotel.
The location and views are outstanding Food in restaurant is mediocre. The "King SIze" bed in the junior suite is, in fact, two single beds moved together - not the same thing at all.
Fine kinds from number, restaurant and a terrace both very attentive and benevolent personnel No
It was one of the most interesting hotel set ups I have had. The hotel was built into a cliff so there was beautiful views throughout. The staff could have had more "life"
The view and vistas were great The comfort of the bed was awful. We stayed in room 152 and the bed was hard and sagged in the middle. It is hard to understand how a hotel as eloquent and upscale as this has beds that should be in a hotel for half the price. Upgrade your beds.
Location of the hotel is wonderful. It is like a dream. The only problem is the mosquitoes or small bugs that bite. Hotel management should leave some repellent in the room before any client request.
A beautiful location, conveniently situated between Amalfi and Positano with a service-minded staff. Good restaurant and nice public spaces. Not suitable for wheelchair access.
The view, the pool and the friendly staff
great location, wonderful views of sunsets
Fabulously located right on the cliff overlooking the Amalfi coastline yet far enough removed from the crowds to feel as if it your very own piece of heaven. Staff were very friendly, especially the barman and the restaurant staff. The terrace overlooking the bay was the perfect place for sundowners! Particularly liked being able to swim off their beach and sunbathing platform. We had excellent meals here, the pasta with seafood baked in foil was the best ever! Food was not overly expensive as some other reviewers had mentioned. Lifts that transported you down through the rock from the hotel to the beach below have to be experienced! I felt very safe even though I really don't like heights as the lifts were modern and enclosed. A minor gripe, because the place and the people were so lovely.....Soft mattress toppers and soft pillows would go a long way towards a more comfortable sleep! Our room had a balcony from where we could hear the sea on the rocks below as we drifted off. A softer bed would have been bliss!
It takes a long drive along a winding road to reach this hotel, but you are rewarded with a gorgeous view from the top floors (restaurant, swimming pool, some of the rooms) on the coast line towards Positano. Rooms are clean, well equipped, not very large. Staff is friendly and correct. Parking is always a challenge in a spot like this, but hotel staff will be neatly shuffling around cars for you. The restaurant offers a wide range of the usual Italian dishes, decent food, but not spectacular. If you stay longer and are looking for a dinner alternative we can highly recommend the Hosteria "il Pino", some 400 metres down the main road. No free Wifi
Very relaxing its probably best to go through the week rather than on the weekends. They have a lot of wedding recepitions and general parties on the weekend, but during the week is is much calmer
Feasible car parking (but we were in low season). Excellent view from balcony.
Fantastic hotel run by a family who really cares about their guests. Magnificant outlook from dining room. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will recommend to our friends.
We loved the family feel of the hotel and were very impressed to see Grandma still had an important role interacting with the guests....excellent food!!
View from room, Friendly and helpful staff, Good food, For this area a larger than normal swimming pool and sun terrace Little infrastructure in village
The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The view from our terrace of the ocean and Positano was absolutely beautiful. I would go back again. The price of the room for 3 was more than I wanted to spend. I stayed in Rome and Florence in comparable 4 star hotels that were 100 Euros less.
- great view from breakfast area. - nice location - parking available - breakfast had fresh orange juice - Staff were super rude, very abrassive. Asked to maintain passports pretending they were immigration or something. - rooms are tiny, and view are obstructed. They said room with a view, but in reality it was facing a wall... had to stick your head off a balcony to catch a glimpse - flies on food. - overpriced.
A charming and friendly hotel - not 'grand' or 'international' but just right. It felt like we were staying in Italy on the Amalfi Coast rather than in an anonymous chain hotel which could be anywhere. Fantastic views over towards Capri and along the Amalfi coastline from the dining rooms and the bedrooms overlooking the sea. Spending time at the Tramonto D'Oro was a seriously enjoyable experience. The swimming pool was not yet full of water and therefore not usable, but that was probably just because it was still a bit early in the season. It did not affect us but it might have affected a family with kids.
The level of service is excellent Some reception staff not very well informed about local information such as bus timetables and whether tickets can be bought on the bus or not, and opening times of major attractions. Other reception staff were very well informed.
An excellent hotel, well positioned on the Amalfi Coast. Fabulous view and sunrise/sunsets. Romantic area and an excellent Restaurant. The Service was first Class and the staff and owners really care about their clients. Would certainly return and tell others about it ! Loved everything, but wi-fi would be good. Having said that, there is an internet cafe 200metres down the road. A poster on the hotel reception indicating the same, showing opening hours etc.
Everything. food was good. Staff great and very friendly. Nice relaxed atmostphere and the beach is fab. Balcony chairs could've been a bit more comfortable and the speration between balconies higher to give more privacy.
Excellent. Thank you Casa Angelina.
the view is absolutly amazing and i like the minimalist style of the hotel
Service at the pool needs improving, especially given the fact the hotel was fully booked: not enough chairs, towels were usually unavailable and tables were left to clear up until end of day.
Hotel, service, views, food, amazing! rooms pretty small and lacking privacy but rest of hotel amazing
The staff were amazing!
The staff of the hotel were exceptionally and, I think, genuinely friendly. This was crucial in creating a very comforting and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel restaurant was top-notch. A sumptuous menu combined with very good wines and excellent service provided a dining experience of very high quality. The staff at reception was a bit short on knowledge of activities and related information. This was exacerbated by the dogged presumption that all guests are first-time visitors to the Amalfi Coast. As someone who has previously visited the Coast on multiple occasions, though not Praiano where the hotel is situated, this was rather frustrating. Staff would be better to (1) listen and be attentive, and (2) assume that guests at such a hotel are seasoned travellers.
Relaxed and spent some time exploring the Amalfi Coast. We alternated between relaxing at the hotel and taking day trips to nearby points of interest. No complaints.
The whole experience was a highlight of a month long trip! The position, the view, the design, the staff (they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and their attention to detail was exceptional), the service, the food, the semi-private beach all made it a very special place! Also the hotel very kindly upgraded us at check-in which enhanced the experience further. Pillows - no down/feather pillows were available
An incredible location, amazingly helpful staff and a totally relaxed environment. The all white interior can feel a little bit sterile. The food was good but not exceptional.
The view was amazing - but this was after we paid an up charge to get a view with a balcony. The Sea View that was booked originally - you had to really stand on something to see it.
the building itself is gorgeous and so is the view!
Perfect view, perfect staff, perfect beach, perfect breakfast.
Absolutely everything! Staff were fantastic, food in the restaurant amazing. Buffet breakfast fantastic, especially sitting out on the terrace overlooking the spectacular view. They went above and beyond our expectations, highly recommend staying here!
the staff, the bed, the view and the location for the cost the room was to small, no room to put your luggage or sit comfortable.
The hotel was spacious and restful. There were many guests staying but it was never at all crowded. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. It is beautifully located and the flowers and plants are a major contribution to peace and enjoyment. Delicious, unhurried breakfasts on the terrace overlooking Amalfi town were memorable. We thought that the all white decor with little furniture and no colour was severe.
Friendly helpful staff. Great views, quiet location. Beautifully kept. Lovely breakfast/restaurant area.Good value for money. If driving yourself the roads in can be a challenge.
We got a room with a huge terrasse and amazing view. Very kind stuff, always attentive, even though in low season. Breakfast quite rich in comparison to other hotels in the area. Room decoration charming. Location between Amalfi and Positano is very good and the parking offered just outside the hotel is very handy. Definitely recommendable.
Great family run hotel, staff really cares about their guests, great hotel with very good fixed price dinner for guests, menu changes daily.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good food. Free parking. Bus from right outside the door. We were on the first floor facing the street, so there was some noise from traffic.
Lovely staff, everyone spoke english very well. Although young, the dining room staff were very polished and polite. They gave us some super tips that really added to our pleasure.
The staff was excellent !! Margherita, the owner could not have been nicer. Our room was terrific. What a view !! The food was very good and the location for what we were looking for was great The hill leading up to the hotel is very steep if you have to walk it. How-ever, there is a shuttle service available most of the time.
the view and location
Hotel staff helpful, attentive, informative, offered on more than one occasion to take us places in the hotel transport with no charge which was beyond the call of duty..Delightful friendly people. We only had dinner one night, the first night, we understand they had a new chef. The food was poor and small portions. They would be well advised to monitor this situation as other guests thought the same and this will lead ultimately to affecting their guest reviews if it does not improve.
hotel and staff were faultless i would recommend this hotel
The staff are very kind, helpful and pleasant to deal with.
The views, especially from terrace. Great location! Fountain in front was not working, but everything else was beautiful.
Loved the location and the beds were amazingly comfortable. We will return. The hotel has its own beach but guests have to pay 25 euros to get a chair and umbrella. Seemed a little cheap to charge guests for beach access.
The Fioriere family were warm and wonderful hosts. You felt like you were an old friend returning to visit. The hotel is centrally located in the Almalfi coast, making it easy to visit many small towns as convient day trips. There nothing negative to report about our stay in this hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely people.
Very friendly and staff as this is a family run place.Priano is a great place and bus stops at the front door. We were very happy with our stay here some street noise but rooms fitted with shutters/doors mitgates this. A bar fridge would have been a bonus
The owners of the hotel do everything they can to make your stay excellent.
We loved our private terrace with views of the village of Positano and the ocean. We liked being in the middle if the bustle of daily life. Our short walk to the town center and beach was appreciated. Enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace. Staff at Savoia were very friendly and helpful. Small shower stall.
The staff were very helpful. The hotel was ideally located close to the beach.
Rooms were lovely and the staff were attentive and efficient. A bit pricey, especially drinks.
Very clean, nice and comfortable room and staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast at this hotel and service great. Great central location in Positano, near to city bus and coastal buses. Good value for the money. No.
It was an excellent location, and we loved the view overlooking the town and the street action below. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was just fine.
Staff excellent and helpfull. Sublime food!! Location and scenery fantastic for relaxing holiday! None
the setting amongst the cliffs of the Amalfi coast is breath-taking, the views, the food are both excellent , the quietness of the village, crystal clear water, the steps conecting the different parts of the hotel, snorkling, the feeling it is an authentic Italian litle gem no free internet
Friendliness of the staff and they were always helpfull The hotel was too remote for us, we thought that we coould rely on the local bus network to get about but the service was inconsistent. - Not the fault of the hotel but in the end made us check out early and move to Sorrento.
We loved the position, the stunning view and the hotel staff. They made us feel very welcome and were always helpful. The food was great. The hotel was clean and bright. It was easy to get to other places like positano and ravello. Only downside was there are no tea making facilities in our room and we couldn't get the spa to work.We should have asked but we didn't spend much time in our rooms to worry about it.
Beautiful views and quiet location
The view is simply magnificent. It has been the most memorable, and the most beautiful holiday of our lives, never to be forgotten. The views are truely breathtaking. Picture opening your balcony door to your own "private" vista with fishermen below whistling and singing in Italian. It was too perfect to be real. The food was fantastic, better than any of the 5* hotels on the Amalfi coast. Thank's
The sea view is good which is the main reason we choose it. 190 euros seems to be higher than the room and facility we have.
Need hotel, nice service
Staff were friendly but did not go too much out of their way to help. The hotel was not as 'fancy' as it was made out to be on he web and the food was very average. No room service or requests to the room but the room was very clean and comfortable.
location good.rooms very tidy and clean.meals very good.beach and harbour for transport.to other towns nearby staff not very friendly or supportive
The wonderful sea view and the kindness of the service it was a little bit noisy, but we like getting up late
The staff were very polite and courteous. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definately recommend this hotel which had stunning views
Quiet relaxing beautiful scenery spotlessly clean very secure night and day location very central on the Amalfi coast
The fantastic location and views from the terrace. It's close proximity to other restaurants bars and hotels. Also the hotel location was convenient for the buses and local shops and amenities. An English language pay as you view film channel would have been nice.
The quality of the room, the friendliness of all the staff and the spectacular world-class view from our room's terrace. We even saw dolphins swimming in the sea below us! For a 3-star hotel, it was surprising not to have a full buffet breakfast.
Excellent staff, great room beautiful views. Nice attached restraunt
The views from our terrace and breakfast terrace were breathtaking. The rooms were very clean. The hotel is located in a small town between Positano and Amalfi so it would have been nice if the staff had been more accommodating in answering questions especially about transportation (bus) and dining.
We enjoyed our 1st stay on the Amalfi Coast very much and the hotel was perfect for our needs. The views were wonderful and location perfect. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning. Nothing (that we had to leave)
very clean hotel, beautiful room with an unbelievable view. on arrival staff insisted my booking was for 2 ngt only. I showed her my printout from bookings.com, she has to accept I was booked for 3 ngts. The 2nd day a member informed me that I must share a room for the 3rd ngt with another member of my group, I told her this was not possible. Obviously hotel was over booked ! After this staff were very unfriendly, the rest of my stay was very uncomfortable
brilliant views, lovely food in resturant, resturant staff very freindly and helpful hotel room noisey, breakfast a little basic and the same every day.
overvew room. not comfortable hotel
Great accomidations. I was looking for comfort and a great view after touring Italy for two weeks. A place to relax. I found through research most hotels offer one or the other not both. Saraceno offered great views from the rooms up on the hill as well as great beach location. Food was good, bar open late till 12 midnight. If your looking for peach and quite this is the place. The cabs are expensive in Amalfi. Look into hotel shuttle. It is accomidating to use.
The hotel staff, especially the reception staff were very helpful and expalined the whole layout etc of the hotel on arrival. To get a full picture of the hotel you have to view this from the sea which is breathtaking Location is isolated & the nearest main centre was a cab drive away. Courtesy buses were provided but times to & from hotel were limlited to early morings or early evening. The resturant staff & breakfast staff were not very helpful or freindly. In the evening we took a meal at the resturant. Once seated I noticed a smashed glass under the table, but the staff just shrugged their shoulders.
Everything was so perfect!!!! We would visit again!! No, everything was so well organized!!
the hotel is beautiful, staff and service outstanding
Everything, especially the view.
good beach , good service , location near Amalfi , good shatale , good food air condiation , and slow / small elevaetors
the castle looks so dramatic, particulary looking back up from the beach. I didnt expect the lovely gardens and pots of flowers on the balconies which really added to it. it was over our budget so we only stayed 1 night in partial seaview, but laying in bed I could see the ocean, and the stars. I would reccomend it even if its a bit out of your price range just stay one day its worth it!
Beautiful hotel in a breathtaking setting. Fulfilled my bucket list item of staying in a castle as this was built to replicate a fortress. Staff was friendly and service was great. Staying at a hotel with a private beach is worth it in Amalfi! Lots of ants- but expected at a beach hotel
different Radio doesnt work in the room. NZ$500 per night should be 5 star but not. All Italian TV. Only BBC in english. Sky do have english programs. Small 15 inch TV 50 ft away from viewing??NO Tea or Coffe/milk/ electric jug facilities like in 99% of hotels/motles in NZ. Not value for money. No service. Only if you ask for it. At the pool/ would you like another or food or is everything o'k. Only stay for one night just for the look.
The hotel has a great location, and the free parking is a plus in this area. that is about it!!! They even charge your to use the internet, what first class, or like you rate it 5 star charges a guest to use the internet in 2010. You rated this hotel 5 stars, it is not!!! Maybe the location, but not facilities or amenities of a 5 star hotel. It does not even have a real blow dryer. you cannot use any electrical converters in the bathroom, and there are no mirrors in the bedroom. It has a small tv, real old, from a museum, the safe has a key, old fashion key, not electronic like a real safe, and it is inside the refrigerator, which means, every time you want to use the safe, you have to open the small refrigerator, which does not work when you leave the room, since you need to insert a key for the electricity to work inside the room. no robes, slippers, plastic cups... no proper hangers for your clothes. I would not recommend this hotel. Maybe as a 2 or 3 star
This place feels like home, except with views of the Amalfi Coast. From arrival to checkout, the Hotel Employee and his family treated us like family...making it extremely upsetting to leave. The owner, kitchen and view make this a perfect place to enjoy Cannot think of one. The Hotel Employee has thought of everything.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful. They drove us into town and picked us up when we went in for dinner, definitely helpful as the area is not walkable. they has suggested a tour company for our trip to Pompeii and that turned out great. No, we were very pleased with this hotel.
The hotel is incredible. Specifically the host. The family was gracious and incredibly warm. They also have an incredible restaurant that probably had the best pasta all'amatriciana I had in all of Italy. If ever back to the Amalfi coast I will stay again Nothing.
The owner, Luigi, is an extraordinary host. That I had to leave.
Fabulous hotel, fabulous food and wine and hosts and family were simply excellent. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying anywhere on the Amalfi coast.
Excellent customer service.
Friendleness of the staff of shuttle bus service the shuttle bus times could have been a bit more frequent
It was a beautiful hotel tucked away in the cliffs of Positano. The views were magnificant I didn't like that we had to leave! :)
Location and View, restaurant
OUr view from the balcony was amazing!! The pool staff was not very friendly. All the other staff were superb.
One of the best hotels we have stayed in and our holiday was an absolute pleasure Nothing
Hotel Staff excellent except the pool attendant he had an attitude problem.Food and service excellent. The beds very uncomfortable
The location offers stunning views of Positano. The hotel staff were very welcoming and efficient and the room, although slightly dated, was very comfortable and quiet at night. We used a car which was collected and dropped off at the hotel for us whenever we needed it. We didn't eat an evening meal in the hotel but the breakfasts were delicious! All in all a very relaxing stay. make sure you don't get a room next to the lift!
Loved the location and the view of the beach No
Clean, pleasant staff. Car parking available. Good location with glorious room views.
The staff were so friendly, the room was very spacious, modern and clean! The view alone is worth staying in this hotel! The hotel is a bit of a walk to the nearby town and if you are staying out late there is no transport. I don't think I could walk up the hill to the hotel if I stayed another night!!
Family friendly-- we have two small children (2 yrs and 8 months). Staff were very accommodative to our needs. Would definitely recommend it friends!
We liked best the location and spacious room
Very nice family run hotel. It was a perfect base to explore Amalfi coast. 15 min walk down to get to beach was perfect for us. Overall very satisfied with our stay and would return. The sound proofing between rooms was poor.
the views. the need to take shuttles to Positano, Amalfi, everywhere and Shuttles stopped running at 10:30pm. The buses were 1 euro and to take a cab it was 25 Euro from Positano, 10km away. They had not opened the kitchen in the hotel so I had to go out for every meal which by the time I ate, I missed the shuttle twice, those were two very expensive dinners.
Nice hotel with very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast with breathtaking view to the see and the coast.
The view of the cliffs The balcony glass doors were broken, and there was a daily ten euro extra charge for air conditoning that was "room tempurature" at best. The balcony chairs were filthy, and the shower had noticable mildew build-up.
We didn't like this hotel at all! The owners are not very nice. The location of this hotel isn't very good since it's hard to go anywhere by foot. The entire hotel smelled humidity big time and it really need to be renovated. The room was nothing like what we had seen on the Internet. There was bugs in our room (on the floor) so they gave us some products to spray around... We left one day earlier because we were so uncomfortable there. The only thing positive I could say is that the breakfast was nice. All of it was bad sincerely considering the price. The rooms don't look like the pictures they show on their site.
Breakfast was good compared to other italian hotels' breakfasts location- a hike from the main town but shuttle service is available.
Location, service, staff was excellent. bus stop just in front of the hotel with efficient bus service. good value for money. Breakfast very good for italian standards, beautiful view from the terrace. picturesque marina under the hotel with small beach the economy double was basic, with the window overlooking a concrete wall. bed was not really comfortable
Marvellous overview A bit distant from the city center
The location was great, right at a SITA bus stop so getting to other places along the Amalfi Coast was very easy. The staff was very helpful, purchasing train tickets for me prior to arrival, arranging transfers to and from the hotel, etc. The room was large as was the bathroom - we even had a jacuzzi tub! Great view from our balcony of a Saracen tower and the sea. Wi-Fi access provided for free. Good breakfast buffet with optional hot eggs available at a small charge. Not a major thing, but no elevator/lift, so there are a lot of steps getting to the hotel itself then more to your room. We did have help with our luggage so that was good.
Splendid! Very nicely situated, beautiful views. Excellent breakfast.
Excellent Location for us and there were buses to the hotel. Older people might have difficulty with the incline to the hotel and steps.Excellent price- best value for money out of all Italian hotels we chose. Friendly and helpful staff
View of the Mediterranean, but this had nothing to do with this hotel other than its location. Other than Raffaello in the dining room, staff are utterly rude, unhelpful and uncommunicative. Hotel is overpriced for the just-average facilities. They claim every room has a terrace; this is true if you include the two-by-one meter step-out with no view our friends were given. They had also asked to change rooms because of an uncomfortable bed and were told there was absolutely nothing wrong with the bed; no-one ever bothered to follow up on the room change request.
Room was great and waking up to see the sunrise with the ocean was great. Not all rooms are ocean/sea view, but they accommodated us when we requested it. Beds could be softer and of higher quality, but seems typical of other European hotels I have stayed at.
Beautiful sea-views. Quiet, friendly and clean. Stairs and step approach to the hotel. (Lack of a lift)
Picturesque location. Very relaxing. Excellent staff. Excellent value for money. Will definately go back and reccommend to friends.
Fantastic location to explore the amalfi coast. Lovely seaview from hotel. Clean rooms with daily maid service. Reasonably priced food and lovely waiter. Helpful owners when needed.
Open Gate is run by a wonderful family -- we enjoy seeing Gennaro, Pasquale and Stefania almost every October and hope to see them again. Rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The restaurant downstairs offers a delicious menu and the views of the Amalfi coast are spectacular from everywhere in the hotel.
Friendly family atmosphere and staff were always eager to help
Spacious room & bathroom & balcony, perfect see view, lovely hotel and staff, free parking.
nice veranda with great view, clean room, friendly staff. very poor breakfest not so clean (outside the room), not so well maintained,
Location of Open Gate is perfect easy walk to major sites and hotel staff are very helpful. Its worth the bit extra cost.
Staff knowledgeable and helpful regarding activities in the area and forward travel arrangements. Home cooked meals lovely - especially the pear desert cake! Family run business. Our room had a balcony overlooking the sea - great views. Only public transport option to this hotel is the bus on a very windy narrow road. Boat transport is available from other Amalfi towns but not Praiano ( much quicker and less nervewracking).
I liked the view from the rooms the best. All rooms have a beautiful view with a balcony. Friendly hotel staff. Quiet location. Free parking.
Staff were extremely attentive, warm and friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
the location of the hotel and the politnes of the owner the hotel need urgently some adaptement
Location, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.
Superb view from the rooms. Excellent the food and the service at restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a wonderful time at the Open Gate so we recommend it to everybody.
There was a pool and access to the sea. Location. Timings of mini-bus shuttle service into town were not useful.eg.drop off for lunch but no pick up later.
The view from our room and all over the hotel was incredible. We loved being very close to Amalfi (10 min walk) but not directly in town. The staff was very nice and attentive and knowledgeable. The pool decks built into the cliff were an amazing place to hang out for the day. The bed wasn't the most comfortable in the world but it was fine and made up for by the rest of the hotel
Hotel staff is very friendly and polite. We can see seaview from room.
The staff and service was nice. I liked the pool alot. The price for any hotel in Europe is very expensive for what you receive in the USA. I was surprised they did not have any pugs to convert US powered electronics to Italian (all other hotels we stayed at did). The walk from the hotel to Amalfi proper although not that far could be harzardous due to limited side walks on the windy street plus walk through the traffic tunnel. Needs shuttle servic
The location was amazing. Every view from every angle was beautiful. The dinning room staff was also great. The hotel staff (outside of the dinning room) couldn't have been less helpful or less knowledgeable. They could have also used a 24 hour menu.
great location, views, pool / ocean area. parking a huge plus. restaurant well run. i would definetly stay here again.
We loved the fantastic ocean view. It was no luxury hotel by any means but nice & comfortable.
View, large rooms, great service The mildew on the walls and in bathroom
The attentive staff, location and facilities. N/A
The views are some of the best we have ever seen from a hotel balcony anywhere in the world. The location is stunning
Fantastic location, having superb views over Amalfi and its harbour. Good sunbathing facilities and access to swimming in its sea water pool or the sea. Good views from bedrooms as well as public rooms. Good variety in its restaurant. The staff were extaordinarily helpful and professional The standard rooms only have small balconies, some of which are enclosed. Neither your site or that of the hotel indicate this difference between standard and superior rooms.
The location was exceptional. I loved being on the edge of the cliff. The ability to go down to the pool and/or swim in the Mediterranean sea was so exciting. We had probably the nicest room, end with the largest balcony it was perfect. We had rented a car and the signage from either direction was the best. The entrance (at the road level ) was unimpressive. But I don't think you can change that because the whole excitement of the hotel is the location on the cliffside. The distance into the main part of town was easily walkable and fun, although there was a shuttle service we didn't use it. Getting to the town of Almafi is not ideal if you need to use the ferry or bus (especially if its not high season). We had to take a taxi ride to Salerno for 100 euros in time to catch the train to Rome to make it to the airport in time. However we had time to take the ferry from Salerno to Almafi for 6 Euros each for 35 minutes, which was ideal and fun. (no worries about driving the coastline road.
