The rooms were nice & clean plus the staff was polite and friendly.
This Riad might be à bit out of location since it's in the far east end of the Medina. It's probably a 15min walk to Jamaa el Fna. Also the breakfast is a bit monotome.
On the only plus side the young guy who takes care of the guests and serves breakfast is really lovely, sweet and very helpful. We wish him all the best and hope one day he can find a job at a real Riad.
Disappointing. Terrace is mouldy and owner doesn’t treat it as professional accommodation; had to leave notes as she was never there in the 5 days we stayed! Checking out / paying was an effort, she didn’t want to be at the Riad during the 3 different times we gave her. She kept insisting we needed to be there to pay during the times convenient to her. This is not a 24 hr reception. The day before we were leaving she told us (via one of her notes) she wanted the full 5 days paid in cash. We refused, she then wanted half paid in cash. We refused again, she wanted to charge 5% for a credit card transaction which is not mentioned on the booking anywhere. The light in our room had to have the bulb changed daily. You must ask for clean towels.
The staff, mainly Abdelatif was the best in the world :-) He was very friendly, hospitable and he really spoiled the guests with nice breakfast. Everything was possible, when we asked for eggs it was no problem. Dar Selen is really a peaceful place in a very busy medina.Veronique (hostess) knows much of Marrakech and has the right information. She is a very kind and helpful hostess.
The hotel is situated near one of the ports. On one hand it's easy to get a taxi but on the other hand it's a bit difficult to find your way back from el fna by foot..
Staff was just awesome.
