Big rooms. Beautiful shower. Comfy beds and pillows. Hard to find something bad to say.
Overnight parking fees of $28 was a bit ridiculous. The area also gets a bit shady at night.
The hotel is a grande dame of a bygone era in Texas and US history, and the room could not have been more comfortable. The location for anything in downtown Dallas is great, and it is an easy walk almost anywhere in the downtown vicinity. The room was spacious and large, and for a downtown hotel is very quiet.
The bathroom fixtures could use updating.
All was on point to my standards no complaints
The hotel is very elegant. The location couldn't be any better, right in the heart of downtown. The service was phenomenal. We were greeted by at least 4 people while making our way to our room and were offered the car service every time we left the hotel. The room was surprisingly large, like a studio apartment almost. We enjoyed walking around the lobby and bar area reading about the history of the hotel. For the price, you can't get any better than this.
The lighting in the room was very minimal. Two of the large lamps did not work so it was very dim. Also, beware of the in-room movie rental. I let my kids order one thinking it would be about $6-$7 and was shocked to see $21.99 on my bill. I could of bought them the movie for that price!
The rooms are lovely, with nice furniture and bedding. The restaurants on site have amazing food and drinks.
Quiet, convenient to uptown/downtown/lower greenville/and deep ellum. Bed was comfortable. Staff was very freindly.
Construction took away from atmosphere and luxury feel. Valet system was inefficient, long waits for car.
beautiful hotel with historic decor. great location in downton
noisy, rooms were not updated. electric outlet didn't work, no hair dryer, just didn't seem as "luxury" as it is advertised to be or as I b elieve it once was.
The old western style
The elevators were small, slow, cramped, dark, and one wasn't workin. However I did see a repairman working on the elevators. Maybe they will fix this
Room was spacious, the staff we encountered were polite, efficient and friendly, and the rate was an excellent deal.
It would have been close to a perfect experience but for the queen mattress of our bed. It should have been thrown out and replaced at least 2 years ago. Horrible. They have to be aware of it. Rooms are supposedly being renovated this year but mattresses should never be allowed to get to this point. Basically could not sleep it was so bad. The overbite parking of $28 seems too high. We beat that by leaving our car at son's apartment. If it had been more reasonable, we would have left car at hotel. Will not stay here again unless I am guaranteed a good mattress.
Construction on our floor. A bit disappointing
Staff was very helpful and accomodating.
The actual hotel itself is dilapidated. I know that it's historic, but general maintenance has clearly been neglected. There's no excuse for putting stained sheets on the bed. Moreover, the trashcan in the room hadn't been emptied from the previous occupants. Stains on the walls are plentiful, regardless of which room they put you in.The walls are also paper thin, so get comfortable eavesdropping on your neighbors and hearing everything that happens in the hallway.
The lobby was magnificent....the room was dated and worn...though clean...good size...did not conform to the picture online..next time down I am going to the Fairmont.
Reasonable breakfast or lunch...
Nice enough place, room was great and very luxurious.
They will charge $28 a night for parking and $10 per device per day for wifi. Also breakfast will run yoi $15 per person. When you're already paying 200+ for a hotel you'd expect to have some of these things included.
Carpet was torn, furniture felt dated and dingy. Overall was very dated.
I liked the lobby, with its huge plants and old-school charm. I liked the fact that they offer a ride of up to three miles (during certain times of day). I liked the giant comfy bed and the fact that they have 24 hour room service. I liked the large room I got.
I didn't like the fact that I almost got mugged on the walk over from the bus station (there were no taxis in sight, but of course that's not the hotel's fault). I didn't like that when I got there, at 11:40 PM, nobody was at the front desk and it seemed like I had woken up the woman who eventually got me checked in. I didn't like how long it took for her to figure out my reservation existed, especially as I was exhausted after a long day of travel. I didn't like that the room service took almost an hour (I ordered the simplest thing), causing me to debate with myself whether I could make myself stay away to eat or whether I should just sleep and eat the cold food in the morning. It's got some old-world charm, but some updates would be nice (how about free wifi, and an easy way to turn on a light when you first walk in the room?)
Downtown location. The lobby looks very classy. At $200 a night it was a very good price for a hotel that classy, even with $8.99 for a medium plastic bottle of water.
Rooms really need updating The bed sheet was old and worn out. It had hair in it and was stained from the previous guest's stay. The bathroom is old and the tub looks like the ones in the cheap 70's apartments. The furniture in the room was really worn out and looked shabby. No bath robes, sandals, etc. like they have even in 3 star motels. For a hotel like that, all the above is really a shame. The hotel needs to be bought by another group and rejuvenated. No wonder it was only $200 a night.
The room service was overpriced but superb! I had a great time at the Adolphus.
They need to update the appliances/furniture/bathrooms/decor.
