the situation, the kindness of the staff. the smell in the bathroom.
Great location, reasonably priced. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. Shower was not very well enclosed.
The location - near museums and canal cruise; friendly staff. We also appreciated Kayak's arrangement for its convenicence and inclusion of breakfirst. Thank you.
Looked great online but failed to meet expectatio a. Tiny rooms, had to refute several charges on the bill and the rooms on the ground floor were shockingly noisy from the lobby. The shuttle we asked them to book did not arrive and had to locate our own ride to the airport and while the staff was lovely to deal with found myself having to deal with them over issues I wouldn't have expected from a hotel of that alleged caliber. My wife and I were charged for breakfast which we expressly opted out of upon check in and never ate. The rooms were tiny by American standards and the bedding and pillows were lousy. During our three night two day stay our room was never serviced and the walls and doors being so thin means any noise or movement in the hallways is clearly audible and that got old quick.
The location was great. The breakfast was good as well. The rooms are small but that's normal for Europe. Also I wish they had access for strollers and wheelchairs. The other issue currently is the construction in front of the hotel.
The Staff was pretty nice and helpful, the breakfast, the beds and toilets were good, the wifi was pretty decent, location was great. No free Airport shuttle. Heheh Just kidding, not much to complain a bout.
Long story short... Showed up at 8:30 PM to check in and was turned away to another hotel (much further away and in a bad location) even though we had a reservation. No advance notice or warning was given prior to walking into the hotel. Not a single email was sent even though they must have known hours before we walked in. They did nothing to improve the situation... the staff basically said too bad, deal with it. Attempted to contact management, only to be rebuffed and ignored.
This hotel was the perfect distance to walk anywhere in the city, clean rooms, friendly staff Some construction on the street outside, but not too noisy
Great location. Efficient checking in and basic services. Reasonable cost.
- Proximity to Amsterdam's famous museums - Comfort of the bed - Size of the bathroom (we got a handicapped room) - Availability of luxurious toiletries - Clean, well-kept rooms - Friendly staff - DELICIOUS hot chocolate - Free, reliable wifi - Room itself was a little small - Cleaning staff arrived at 8am
Location is great. Clean Standard rooms are a bit small but great for a couple. Staff is very professional. Concierge is great with recommendations
Location and staff were great. Breakfast although pricey was huge! Very decent! Very clean and comfy bed. Room was modern although the "non-divided"/private bathroom may be an issue to non-couples. Some of the toiletries where empty.
Staff at reception and night porters were very helpful and friendly. The 'living room' area is well designed to be modern yet comfortable, the range of books available to look at was excellent. The location is excellent - Leidseplein is a stone's throw away and there are lots of really great places to eat. The Museums are also just around the corner, and tramlines are a 5 minute walk away. Sometimes we had to wait quite a while for our presence to be acknowledged and orders taken in the 'living room'. Also, a couple of times staff entered our room after hardly knocking or giving us time to reply! I think the rates are quite expensive when you consider that they do not include breakfast and the charge for web access is huge!
Next door to museums and across the street from canal, cruises and casino Very helpful and professional staff and excellent restaurant on site (MOMO). Clean, well appointed room of adequate size. Highly recommend Road traffic could be heard but not a significant negative
Close te citycenter Bed en cushions to soft. Bad smell
Cleaning staff was nice. Water leaked from my ceiling onto me in the middle of the night. managenent was totally unhelpful.
The location is perfect. We recieved a warm welcome upon arrival, and was please try suprised at the accomodations. The bed was very comfortable, view perfect, and the room size would meet or exceed any standards. Literally the best location for a brief walk to vo delpark, museums, de hallen, red light district, and tram stops. There is no pool, but for us we didn't care. The lobby was warm, as is standard in most of holland, but rooms are well air conditioned.
MOMO I was not happy at all with the bed and I ended sleeping on the floor because the matress was really bad.I paid 160 € and I think the bed should be comfortable.I was not happy with the answer of your staff saying that the bed for standard rooms.I was that close to go down to the reception with the matress to show it to all.
The location was excellent for visiting the Museums and good selection of cafes and restaurants nearby. Canal boat trips right outside hotel entrance. The room was cramped and somewhat claustrophobic. The cost of the room was far too expensive for the size and no breakfast included.
From a tourist perspective the location of this hotel is very good indeed, it is just metres from the great galleries and Vondel Park, and close to Jordaan. The #197 trolley bus around the corner opposite the Van Gogh museum takes you to Schiphol in 30 minutes for 5 euro (pay as you get on), every 1/4 hour, and trams #2 and #5 take you to the main railway station. Despite being on the relatively busy Stadhoudekade street, the hotel is quiet. The rooms are clean, very comfortable, slightly but not overly cramped, idiosyncratic in design, with air conditioning that works. The staff are intelligently helpful, switched on, and very pleasant. I think that is a Dutch thing anyway. I took the 'with breakfast' option. I recommend it. All this comes in at about $210/night per room including taxes. There are plenty of cheaper places around but if you are in Amsterdam for a couple of days and want a faultless, quiet, reliable, central place to stay, this is a good candidate to consider, and worth the money if you have it. The only thing that I wasn't keen on was the Momo restaurant that is attached to the hotel. It is a Sushi only restaurant, so if Sushi is not what you want, too bad. We ate there one evening and while the Sushi itself was no doubt excellent, it was expensive for what it was - as in my opinion Sushi tends to be. If you like a rank of chefs attending minutely to each bite, and lots of pretty waitresses regularly asking if you need anything, or don't really mind about the cost, that's fine, enjoy it and pony up liberally at the end. Otherwise, don't come to this place too hungry, or with kids, this one is for the up-market purists. There are better places nearby, serving quality food of other types for quite a lot less.
Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of foods. The bed and pillow were very comfortable. I especially liked the good location to the museums and the friendly staff. Thank you for a nice stay. It was a little difficult to move easily between the bed and desk in room # 305.
A very cozy boutique hotel in a great location with friendly staff. The shower was scary.
location, services, cleanliness,
convenience to Amsterdam attractions Our room was a little small
the hotel is walking distance from the museum area and the main shopping street the room was not insulated well, no double window so it was a little bit cold
Lovely area, lovely hotel in charming old buildings, however with modern conveniences, large bedroom, excellent, helpfull staff. Beautiful fresh flowers in the common areas and in the bedroom. Everything perfect...
The location, the facility and room, and the staff. All was wonderful. I hope to go back. The hotel was busy and our room was upgraded to a superior room. It was very nice. It was too short!
Location near to the fashion and museum district. Quiet street the room was a little hot during the night
Friendly hotel staff and clean rooms. Good location. Small Room
they confused me with another guest and gave me key to his room
Proximity to the museums and concert hall, as well as Vondel Park. Our room, even though it was very small, overlooks the park and a church steeple, so it was very peaceful. Also free internet use so that was excellent. And the breakfast was quite nice. Walls were a bit thin and the room was small. But it was clean and comfortable so generally fine.
Close to the Garden, so feel like home. Great! Of price, location. None
If you plan on seeing the museums, this hotel is a perfect location. Exterior under renovation; covered by scaffolding. Single room next to luggage storage room--very noisy. Not the greatest place, but it suited the purpose and had a 3-per-room option.
The location Hotel need to be renovated, too old, toilet smell bad and is old, not a 3star hotel
Location was good... easy access to museums and transportation. room was cramped - four twin beds wall-to-wall - but clean. This was one of the few places that would allow a one-night booking. We were able to store our bags (albeit in the corner of their restaurant... not very secure) on both our arrival and departure days. Staff was not the friendliest. When we arrived, the woman at the front desk did not acknowledge us for several minutes as our family of four stood in the lobby. The rooms are clean but not at all nicely decorated. Just functional. Expensive for what you get, but that seems to be the theme for traveling in Europe in July!
The location is fabulous and the staff are very helpful. The rooms were a bit small which wouldn't be so bad if they were cleaner! Walls were dirty, everything in general was a bit unclean.
The position. A fairly quiet road away from the main town but within easy walking distance. Lift was not working. A long walk to the 4th floor!
relaxing no sauna?....
allow downloads and use of pendrive at the computer used by the customers
Convenient location for most things in Amsterdam. The room was narrower than my outstretched hands and the bed too short for me. Aircon machine next door rattled intermittently all night long.
The staff Room slightly small
The Location is perfect
Location, it was near a convienant tram stop that takes you streight to the red light district. The hotel internet was expensive.
Everthing in general the room was spacious very comfortable and the beds were soft and roomy.
good stuff , location , the rooms need to be bigger ,but its fine
Everything. It was a great place to stay.
The room was big & comfortable. The breakfast was poor. The cooked breakfast eggs were inedible, thebacon undercooked, and cold boiled eggs. No crossants available when I asked for them. Generally it was not up to standard. All though there was free internet access provided, the hotel receptionist did not know how to print anything. So we could not print off our return flight boarding cards.
The bed was really comfortable. And the bathroom was squeaky clean. Although the location of the hotel is very near to the Leidse Square, it is not on the main street so you don't get the noise from street traffic. Some rooms for one person have been remodeled. This time I had a room that was smaller than shown on the website and the layout was also a little different (-). But it was located in a more quiet part of the hotel (+).
comfortable room they should have a remodelation of the lobby. Stairs in the entrance and no ramp to walk in the baggage. they didnt serve me a simple coffe at 11.00 a.m, they told me the bar was closed. They should really improve the staff service it doesnt look professional.check out at 11.00 a.m
walking distance to the centre but in quiet location
Spacious room for Europe. There was construction all weekdays, they started at 9am mon-fri. There was no warning of this from the hotel. Otherwise was decent. Good heat. Very little mildew in the bathroom. Not bad for a budget hotel. Loud in the morning
business trip the minibar wasn't in the room and the chek out is at 11 o' clock
the garden and the room
Easy, clean, comfy bed. Small towels, and bathroom facilities
loacation is very good! the view in the room was not fine.
the stay was good due to the staff being very helpfull and cheerful
A friendly comfortable and modern hotel, in a quiet area close to the Vondelpark and museum district. Can be reached from the main station by tram 2 or 5. Nothing
Located in a relatively calm, quiet area, within walking distance of many sites. Rooms are very tired, with carpet that needs immediate replacement. Shower is configured in a way that the entire bathroom floor gets soaked with water. Non-smoking floor was filled with cigarette smoke every night (and it came into the room). Poorly-lit rooms. Staff not rude, but a bit curt.
The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating! The room was clean, hotel location is awesome and we even managed to park outside...twice!! Would definitely stay here when in Amsterdam again. We managed to book the night before arriving (very last minute) and were so happy with everything!
hotel staff is very good and cute
Lacation and the garden Quality/price rate
The staff was friendly and helpful. They spoke excellent English and Dutch. The location was excellent and close to P.C Hooft Straat, which I think should be emphasized in the hotel manual/guide. The hotel was also right next to the Vondel park. It was close enough to the leidseplein for a short walk but far enough to away from the rowdiness. The complimentary liquor in the room was highly appreciated. The toiletries should be replenished every day, especially shampoo and body soap. The proximity of my room (room 18) to the service area meant that early in the morning I could hear the breakfast serviced being prepared quite clearly. The door and insulation for rooms close to the kitchen should be thicker. The curtains on the windows were blackout curtains which were nice, but I would have also preferred there to be curtains through which light can pass through to help adjust to the new timezone. It was either completely dark or completely exposed with these curtains - and being right next to the hotel courtyard meant that the windows were at eye level for anyone there.
good location - near museums and public transporation cost of breakfast
Lovely boutique hotel that lived up to the description on website. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. A very minor point but would have expected more luxurious bathroom products to live up to the luxurious standard of bedroom and bathroom!
friendly staff and clean throughout. rooms slightly tight
The room was huge and beautiful, the bathroom was amazing with a double headed rain shower and a separate jacuzzi and double sinks. We had a king sized bed, which in our room was just 2 towns pushed together, but it was very comfortable and nice. The walls were a little thin and we had a room with a window on the street so we heard a lot of people walking by at night both outside the hotel and inside the hotel. The TV was mounted on a wall next to the bed, rather than facing the bed, so that was a little awkward.
Guests are given unlimited free drinks (of any sort) and snacks are always available. The hotel is advertised as having a restaurant. There is room service (very good) and hot breakfasts to order, but a restaurant for dinner is in a sister hotel down the block.
Location was brilliant - quiet but just around the corner to lively square. Hotel clean, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast great, rooms fantastic!
Front office staff were very helpful, within their capacity to solve problems - for instance, how best to get somewhere. Some, such as an internet system that was constantly breaking down, were not within their capacity. Cramped bedroom - no proper hanging space. Internet access very poor. Safe did not lock. Only one tiny piece of soap was offered. Lighting was very poor in rooms - difficult to read. No ironing board. Air-conditioning unreliable - public spaces overheated. Much more concerned with appearance than functionality.
Very central position - comfortable hotel. Didnt think necessary for towels to be taken away everyday especially as they were then never replaced!
The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. While remaining professional they were warm and welcoming. My son would often join me for a drink after work and we enjoyed sitting in the living room of the lobby. At breakfast one member of the staff (Sau (?) always remembered what I liked and greeted me with smile and a cup of coffee. All and all, I could not have been more pleased in terms of the facility, location, and personel. My rooms were attractive, but in both, 21 and ? the closet was practically inaccessible. One must sit on the bed to open the doors.
Location and very attentive staff. Paying for internet access in room.
A truly spectacular property, beautifully fitted, with attentive, friendly but not overly intrusive staff. Amsterdam is a great place to visit; this hotel is almost reason enough on its own. I stayed there twice on the same trip. The first time we upgraded to a suite, and it was beautiful, really a place to relax in and feet at home. The second stay I was alone and had a regular room. It was tiny, but entirely functional. Both rooms were street facing with large windows. The bar is lovely, as well. Be sure to try one (or two or three) of their great gin and tonics. It is rather pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
large clean rooms, good location smoking in the lobby
staff very attentive and helpful; location very convenient; room was huge and shower very impressive no issues (corridors were vacuumed from 9am which was a little early if having a lie-in)
Staff, breakfast room, location, size of hotel carpet is a bit dirty/old - but it is in the city. And one lamp was broken in the room.
very comfortable bed none
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room.
Sunlit breakfast room was quite pleasant. The hotel was right across the square from the major museums and concertthall. Decorations are a bit sparce; there was construction going on next door in the back; they started drilling at 7:00 AM two mornings in a row. Ask for front room if they are still working.
Very good location The room was extremely cold! When we arrived the heaters were turned down (it was round 2 degrees woutside so inside not much more). I turned on the heaters to max, it helped a bit but when we came back late at night they were completely cold, even though they were set to 5. I was freezing the whole night long! Additionally we only had hot water during the first day, on the second it was warm, but impossible for me to wash my hair...
The room was spacious and clean. The beds were quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is adequate. Very good value for money. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who's on tight budget. The location: although the hotel is located in the museum quarter, it is not exactly the most accessible spot in Amsterdam. I'd prefer staying near the central train station or the eastern canal ring. The hotel is next to a schoolyard/children playground, so it could get a bit noisy during the day.
We enjoyed our clean, comfortable room just a short walk from the Van Gogh Museum. It is very close to the Concert Hall and tram stops, and you'll find restaurants and a very nice bakery nearby. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They speak English well.
Fantasticly comfortable beds Paying for breakfast
The rooms were small but well appointed. The staff was friendly. Best of all the location is away from the tourist craziness yet near many attractions and a great place to begin exploring on bicycle. The wine in the room was disappointing in quality and price.
The location is perfect - in a quiet but very central place. Free wifi in the room for no extra charge. The staff is helpful and efficient, without bothering you.
Friendly Staff Small room, noisy at night, disturbed sleep expensive
Location is good and away from noise and crowds. Basic and small rooms. Very helpful staff. Very good price. Heating was not enough for the room. There was a weird smell when we first entered the room.
Friendly staff, clean room, plenty of space (but we were staying with 2 people in a family room for 4) We had to pay to use the locker.
Cleanliness, location, friendly staff. Hotel pub nice feature Austerity of rooms. Comfortable but basic. This is not a complaint. I appreciated the value for dollar spent.
Very clean and tidy. Location very close to museums and out of the dodgy part of Amsterdam. Convenient transport. Helpful staff. Generous breakfast. Very small rooms, bathroom extremely small. 3 of us managed to bump our heads on the television shelf which was close to the bed. Some noisy residents. Scary lift and very steep stairs with dodgy old handrails (I got a splinter). Not much choice at breakfast.
Well located across the road fom Rijksmuseum. The room was small and a little shabby, but clean.
The hotel was really nice, breakfast OK. Good location. We did not like the beds. Quite short + not too comfortable.
Friendly staff, excellent location The mattresses were too firm for me - the bed was not comfortable
Rooms are too smal to breath.
The staff were very helpful and the Hotel is in a great location for the sorts of things we wanted t do and see. The double bed room was alot smaller than we thought it would be.
Hotel seemed to be quite new. Room and bathroom were clean. Room had lovely big windows. Location is great. Breakfast was good, but not very various. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Elevator. Great hotel. Room was very dark, it had very poor lightning. Breakfast room was small and sometimes crowded, and you had to ask coffee or tea for the staff, which was not very practical. There was not minibar in room. Also hairdryer had to be asked from the counter, and it was poor (like they usually are in hotels). Minor things afterall.
The hotel itself was ok but I had to complain as there was construction going on underneath the hotel which started at 6 each morning which disturbed us so what should have been a relaxing time turned into a very tiring time. I understand that the construction was not to do with the hotel, but i was not informed of this before travelling and felt very angry that at 6 each morning we were awoken
The location was excellent and the price very good. Very good value for money. The room was basic but nice and clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The walls are a bit thin.
Good clean rooms and excellent value for money Lift was out of order
nothing, worst experiance behaviour of a lady in front desk was not tollerate.
The room was good and the staff was friendly especially the blond girl at the reception. I didn't like the noise coming from everywhere. You can get any quite for rest. I also didn't like the smoking policy of the hotel. They made you sign something saying that you have to pay 300 euros if you smoke in the room that you have already paid for!!!!!!!! I think that is completely wrong. Private space is for private. Its the fifth time for me staying in Amsterdam and i didn't find anything like this. I know that they are saying is illegal but all other hotels had smoke friendly rooms for smokers. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for smokers and for sure i won't stay in that hotel the next time i am visiting Amsterdam!!!!!!!!!
bathroom could stand to be updated (better plumbing, electrical outlet above sink did not have current. This is a temporary condition, but construction on back of bldg....things will obviously improve when this is finished.
Room too small, without wardrobe. Had to be careful when having a shower as the water was coming out of the bathroom. Poor breakfast
Staff were rather unhelpful. Broken glass on the bathroom floor.
The location was excellent. Walking distance to all the major attractions, friendly staff. Hotel was clean, room adequate. The ceiling in the room and bathroom was too low. My husband is 6'4" and kept hitting his head= could not stand up straight in the shower. Also, the doors could use closers...you could hear doors slamming late at night from neighbors coming in late.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet street in the center of Amsterdam. Clean room. Small room (1 person), but this is not really a problem if you just need a place to sleep.
Room was at floor level and too noisy.
Awesome room at agreat price! NO
The staff has been very helpful Our room had only a small window facing a wall (about 40 cm from the window)
The hotel is in a very good location for the main museum and entertainment districts of Amsterdam. The rooms are simple yet comfortable and the facilities of the hotel are reasonable. The breakfast continental was acceptable for the price. For the price I'd normally expect tea and coffee facilities in the room.
I think the hotel staff was very nice and helpful, and the hotel in general was excellent compared to the cheap prices. The location was very good, near the pub area and near a tram station, but still the street was quiet and no trouble to get to sleep. I would wish that the bathroom was a bit warmer.
It is a small, nice and homelike hotel
it has an excellent location. i find that it is typical of most hotels in amsterdam rooms small, smoking of dope in hotel even though not permitted. there was noise on some nights from other rooms.
For sure Location!! Just was what we looking for. Good ratio price/hotel!! If an other trip in Amsterdam will book in this hotel. Was a bit noisy for people who would like to stay longer in a bed. Also cannot closed the window and the room was street side even if it's a quiet street.
excellent location half of the rooms in the hotel are located in the basement--too dark and claustrophobic
The tea, coffee and heater present in the room the staff, unwilling to help, unexperienced
The male poerter. Vwery friendly and helpful.
pretty good located
The staff were very personable and helpful in responding to our questions about directions, local travel, restaurants and assistance. The location is close to the Museumplein and next to Vondelpark. The room was quite nice and fairly spacious for European hotels along with being very quiet and open with large windows to let light and fresh air in. There were 3 different nightly room rates for the same room which could not be explained.
Great location near the Vondelpark. Very friendly staff
Great location on edge of Vondel Park, walking distance to city centre or a short tram ride. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were small but relatively cosy.
The staff were helpful and very friendly. The park at the back of the hotel was lovely and a nice way to walk into the centre of Amsterdam This was not worth the £100 we paid. The curtains were thick with dust. The double bed was two beds pushed together with two single duvets. We were cold as the radiators were hardly on!. The telephone didn't work in our horrible room. We had no towels and had to go to reception at 7pm, to be told we had to wait for half an hour. The breakfast was not good and not worth the extra money either. Side plates for dinner plates was a let down. I think this hotel should be more like £50 a night. The photos have been cleverly taken -beware!!! What a let down! I have never left negative feed back
Location Room were not cleaned, only beds. Coffee tea etc not filled up. Weared and old towels. If the room was serviced, they servcied it only at 4 o' clock. reservation was mixed up. we asked for room on the same floor, did not happen. The wallpaper in the room are coming off the wall. The hotel is renovating.
