Excellent location within the walls of Lucca and on-site free parking. Afternoon "snacks" and drinks in the lobby. Helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Mediocre breakfast (good pastries but cold eggs, mediocre buffet and poor coffee!)
The staff at reception were exceptionally helpful. And the location was fabulous.
It was quiet, comfortable and close to the city centre and railway station One morning the breakfast buffet had been depleted by a large group and even though it was open for another 1.5 hours there was little effort to replenish it and the selection available was poor.
The friendly staff and self service food and drink facilities
Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast. Nothing and I would book once again during future visits to Lucca.
The amazing views from the garden. No.
The Hotel Ilaria was lovely, and our family of four had absolutely no complaints. Our two rooms were clean and exceptionally appointed, and one was accessible to a lovely private patio available to rooms on the same side of the hall. Although it was hot (July), the air conditioning system worked flawlessly in both rooms. The breakfast buffet, which was served in a lovely canopied sunroom, included an extensive selection of both hot and cold foods, breads, juices, fresh fruits and meats. Every single staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly, and the front desk staff member recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner (and kindly made reservations for us) on our first night in Lucca. Since parking is at a premium within walls of Lucca, the fact that this hotel could offer an onsite parking space for our car was a key benefit. We would recommend the Hotel Ilaria highly and would choose it again when visiting Lucca. Not at all.
Poor breakfast room - badly arranged tables. People queueing to get a table. Constant noise of running water next to Room 3.
The Staff was very helpful. The 24 hour free refreshment bar was an excellant touch. The location was excellent for walking in the walls of Lucca. Free bikes to ride around town were fun to use.
Please write at least 15 words. O like to stay here and I will come with family in the future. Also I will inform my friends The business centre need to be provided. I really need this facility including computers and internets
Very comfortable - central within old town of Lucca - easy to get to by car - hotel parking
the staff were great made effort to solve problems when they could. great location good breakfast to start the day. great ambience when we were there the weather perfect beautiful greenery fun to have a glass of wine before venturing out don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
It's location and ambience
Friendly, very helpful staff. Central location.
location room in need of decoration and poor air conditioning.night noise level from square/early morning.
Its central location in Lucca and easy acces to trains and buses
Excellent location. Staff very nice to us, helpful and accomodating This is a charming building, slightly tatty hotel.
Friendly staff. Nice room. Liked it all.
Hotel la Luna was a great spot for our family vacation. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and was immaculate. The staff was helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to assist us with our needs.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, in particular Lulu is the most friendly, pleasant and helpful receptionist you could ever wish to meet.
Excellent location, very nice staff uncomfortable beds
it's very convenient and the staff were very helpful both times I've stayed there, I've not been on the ground floor, and had a heavy bag, some help getting it up the stairs would have been appreciated
The central location was perfect for exploring Lucca and for shopping. Front of desk staff could have been more helpful - especially in relation to parking. I was left to struggle on my own to the garage.
The central position in a city that we visit on every trip. The positive nature of the staff. Nothing
the location was great. it was difficult to reach the hotel because it was in the middle of the centre but that was on the other hand an advantage
Central location Access to the separate block needed to be obtained by one of the staff pressing a button behind desk, so might as well have had to collect a room key.
The location inside the city wall was easy to access and the small hotel was charming.
The folks at the hotel were very welcoming and friendly. They were helpful in providing information and arranging taxis. Our room had a balcony with a lovely canopy of flowers. Breakfast was great.
Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice, small hotel with personal service and very good location. Highly recommended! I will certainly stay there again if I go to Lucca.
Wonderful location. Cheerful staff. Clean & charming fresh ample breakfast!
Great flatscreen TV and airconditioning. Wonderful wireless service at no extra charge. Great breakfast. Friendly service. Look forward to returning next year. No elevator but this is common for Italy.
Although breakfast was not included we had it our second day and it was really good, well worth it. Also liked that it was close to the train station. We were in the room with a balcony which was really lovely.
Location is perfect, just inside the town walls, near the Cathedral and a short walk from the train station. Very helpful staff.
The Hotel is small and charming in a good location and the breakfast was good. The daily room cleaning was not good. Bed cover looked like it needed a wash, but bed linen was clean. Small things really but attention to detail would make this hotel a little gem
The staff was wonderful, helping us with everything from wi fi connection, to the shortest route to the train station and even som excellent recommendations for area restaurants. The breakfast was also very nice. The location is excellent for those arriving by train.
would rate it higher if I could
Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely and the food local. None
breakfast was quite nice, it is a quaint little hotel in a street not very easy to find, but once you are there, it is good for explaring the city. the hotel is clean and pleasant. there is no lift though so you have to lug your luggage up the narrow stairs.the staff is temperamental ranging from friendly to quite curt. rooms are cramped but the bathroom is decent for european standards. we booked a double room and the lady at the reception palmed off another room on us saying that we were not allowed by law to have four people in the room ( we were a family of four including a 23 month old and a 4 year old) we tried to reason with her to charge us for an extra person because our children wouldn't have slept in another room. she suggested instead that my husband should sleep with one child in one room and me with the second one in the other room. i think that she was just trying to pull a fast one on us.
Very friendly and warm welcome, owner is extremely helpful in every way.
Owner friendly and charming. Excellent breakfast.
The B&B is newly renovated with new tiled floors throughout, rooms are spacious and the lcoation is perfect for exploring Lucca They could improve the WiFi network.
Room and bathroom were very modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent for English and local guests. Luca, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. One of the best and cheapest hotels/B&B's I've stayed in. I would definitely recommend this B&B and would stay here again!!
The manager, Luca, is very hospitable and extremely helpful. It is worth visiting for him alone. You really feel welcome.
Right from the moment we arrived at the hotel, the greeting was welcoming and everything was done to make us feel relaxed about our stay. This approach continued throughout our stay, no matter who was manning the front desk. The size of the bathrooms was initially a bit confronting and there didn't seem to be a lift, but we 'acclimatised' to the bathroom and the hotel staff very helpfully carried our heavy suitcases for us.
The staff is very engaging and helpful. The location is beautiful, across the street from the birthplace of Puccini and central to the medieval walled city of Lucca. Didn't stay long enough. Give yourself a few days to see Lucca and a couple more to see Pisa which is only 20 minutes away by bus.
The staff was very nice and helpful. The locatiion can't be beat. Bathroom was dangerously small and had no counter space. Paid for internet access but the signal was not srtrong enough to access the web. Staff graciously refunded the internet fee. I would suggest tyhat at these rates wifi should be provided at no charge, assumint the hotel acquires a wireless router with sufficient power.
The hotel had welcoming, friendly staff at reception. The room was clean, comfortable and all that was required for a short stay. The shower room was smallish but well appointed although the shower did show some of the eccentricities common throughout Italy. We did not have the hotel breakfast but had our coffee and croissants at one of the excellent cafes in the square round the corner. The restaurants in the vicinity were good for both lunch and dinner, catering for all budgets. Highly recommeng getting the audio guide from tourist info and taking a walk of the town and its walls.
Wonderfully located and good bargain. Small room, one window opening onto a brick wall a few feet away.
decoration quite room no reception/concierge staff. television not wooking properly
Very good location and value for money Nothing really...
stunning place, lovely decor matching the medieval surroundings..very cute!
Ideal location for discovering Lucca
the room was well decorated the fact that there was no space outside the room and so the necessity to use the breakfast in the room. Our floor was dirty.
Fantastic decor, very charming and romantic.Receptionist was very friendly and helpful.Having breakfast served in your room was a nice touch.Fantastic location right in the centre of Lucca.
Very charming and nice place to stay.
The location and decor were perfect.
The room was big and very nice, comfortable, well decorated. The bathroom radiator did not work and although I informed redeption they did not fix it. The room was a little cold.
The building facilities No international TV.No CNN available
Excellent situation, friendly staff, very clean and well run hotel. Our suite had all modern technology but still in style with the age of the hotel We liked everything about the hotel and would recommend it
Location Very bad breakfast
Very comfortable, nice and helpful staff, good restaurant, clean, good location
Great service, updated accomodations in a historic atmosphere
Central location; room very nicely furnished and lovely amenities, room very quiet Front desk personnel
location and quiet no bath tub
Everything--it was lovely and impeccably clean--The staff service was superb. My son thought the included breakfast could have been more ample and varied.
Qualiy of breakfeast is low and not up to international standards. (once no meat or cheese, only dolci; butter was missing; eggs only supplementory) For transfer to opera one had only the expensive (170 €) solution instead of the usual (50€)
Excellent location in the old city.
lovely old building transformed into hotel, good size rooms, very traditional, a real sense of italy!
The hotel is an elegantly restructured ancient palazzo very near the walls of Lucca and therefore easy to reach with very good parking just a few yards away. Our room had a very good view of other ancient buildings where Luccans actually live. The size was quite adequate. the furnishings in very good taste, and the bathroom was new, large, and had a great shower and stall.
The Hotel is located inside the City Walls and very close to the Duomo. A great location for visiting Lucca.
An excellent location within the city walls and close to all the amenities The rooms are basic, furniture is old and worn, the ground floor front room was very noisy and had a bad smell.
Very convenient location within city walls and close to station Slightly smoky smell in entrance
Excellent location, spacious historic, well furnished, elegant setting with limited but more than adequate and very helpful assistance- nearby small hotel for any needed assistance when Relais not staffed. Good for independent travelers who are self-sufficient. Was perfect for us- might be problematic for someone traveling to Italy for the first time- really a b&b so that directions re checking in and out must be followed-
Comfortable room Plastic cups for breakfast juice. Artificial flowers on the table
The room was very spacious and nicely furnished, high ceiling, large bathroom. The location was excellent for walking to sights. Another lamp would be nice as it was somewhat dark. It was a bit cold at night but we used the blankets provided.
Convenient location close to places of interest. Spacious rooms, nicely furnished with patio access and nice Italian ambience Difficult stairs to access hotel foyer. Lack of help with luggage. Major noisy and dusty construction at building entrance. Taxi driver could not find hotel even with navigation device. Sign for hotel too small and brely readable from short distance. Owner not very friendly. Refused us use of toilet facilities after we had checked out.
Easy reach of the city, lovely and modern
Very nice old pallazo, nice lady at reception, beautiful rooms, well located, room butterfly is fantastic some noise coming from restaurant in the same block (kitchen)
Hotel was in a good location. Our room was very small and very poorly lit.
a pleasant Ralais, interesting old Palais with historic connections, the rooms were furnished in 18th cent style. Comfortable and attractive, pleasant breakfast in beautiful large room. Staff were very friendly and approacheable We did not know that there would really not be anyone to let us in if we arrived between 13:00 and 15:00 when the hotel was closed. It would be helpful to make this much clearer. The location was superb inside the wall of the city
Centrally located in Lucca. A building full of character and interesting features. Our particular room on a lower floor was quite noisy from staff working the kitchen above and guests passing through the entrance starwell. But all other areas seemed to be very quiet an peaceful.
We stayed many places in Italy, but San Lorenzo really stood out. Beautiful, super clean, excellent breakfast. The woman who owns the 500 year old converted palace is pure class! And Relais San Lorenzo reflects all her good taste.
the hotel was right on the center of city didnt like the the design of the room
the staffs were very friendly and we had exelent time. the room is well decorated and the location is the best.
Very friendly staff, excellent location within the city walls of Lucca
A very good price for this type of hotel. really beautiful fournitures and design in a tipical lucca's house. excellent
Great location...clean and large rooms. The airconditioner went out and it was hot!
Was very well located in the centre, small breakfast room however service good and it was good being picked up from the train station It would have been good to have an English channel on the TV and airconditioning as we were in 35 plus degrees
Lovely family, very friendly and helpful. Everything great but it would have been even better with a kettle in our room.
I found the staff to be very hospitable, and almost felt like a member of the family. Breakfast was plentiful and well-served. The plumbing was a bit rudimentary.
La Torre had a nice quiet but central location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and offer to ferry people to and from the station. This is important because of the pedestrianisation of the city centre. Steep stairs! But this is understandable given the medieval nature of Lucca.
Great location with loads of charm and character and freindly helpful staff.
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
the people ...particularly breakfast staff !! Shared toilets need upgrading,
Our room was spacious and pleasantly decorated, with little noise, either from outside or from the other rooms. The en-suite was large and the shower worked well.
Owner/staff nice people, breakfast (service) more than OK ...our stay was too short......
Friendly b&b, breakfast good No english spoken made communicating difficult
Part of the family
Central in the town The owner had let out or room to a group of workres!! We had to make to with a cheaper room which he had to displace another family from who he had put in there!! However he did give us tickets to a concert and a bottle of wine to say sorry!
The room completely lived up to the expectations we had after seeing the pictures on line. Lovely furniture, cozy corners, nice lighting. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was fantastic. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome (a cool glass of juice even before we checked in, what more could one wish for after a hot and sweaty journey...). They also had excellent suggestions on how to spend the day in Lucca and which restaurants to visit. Breakfast was good, with nice little touches like boiled eggs, and the coffee great. Good free WIFI connection.
We stayed in the suite, large bedroom with old furniture, a sitting area and bathroom. Located in the centre of this wonderful old city, close to all the sites. Marina a really helpful lady advising on good and reasonably priced restaurants and providing a great breakfast. Claudio the owner was a perfect gentleman and most helpful in all respects.
Location, hotel staff friendly and helpful, value for money
We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was more than adequate.
Lucca is a wonderful destination and the Al Tuscany an ideally central location. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We would look forward to visiting again.
The excellent location; the friendly and helpful staff ; the ease of access and exit with your own key; the kitchen facilities laid on for snacks; the lovely breakfast served by Mary at the large oval table that encourages guests to chat and exchange holiday experiences. We don't all like the same things, but the slightly Bohemian quality of the Al Tuscany really suited us and Claudio does his very best to make you feel welcome.
We chose to stay at the Al Tuscany for the second time in 2 years and would not hesitate to stay again. It was such good value for money right in the heart of Lucca. We felt like we had the taste of staying in a typical Italian home.( very authentic). Claudio once again went out of his way to make our stay memorable. We can't thank him enough. x
