Located directly across from the Public Garden and at the end of Newbury St. Lovely classic building. Incredibly spacious room with many period furnishings in the hotel.
Carpeting and some other items a bit tattered. Ancient HVAC systems with poor control. Mixed response from staff.
Hot water. Complained. No action.
The hotel is dirty. The hall smelled of dead fish. The food in the hotel was terrible and the front desk did not care about whether a guest was happy.
No complaints. The dining room for dinner was perfect, for a visit with friends. Civilized with knowlegable waitstaff.
the heat was not working in the room.
We were placed I believe in a handicap room.... And the bathroom was very uncomfortable. The toilet was too tall and the shower head was very uncomfortable.
Check in was unpleasant and condescending. Clerk was disdainful of booking through a "discount" vendor and refused to honor my booking request for a room with two double beds (as I was traveling with an adult child) and insisted that an up charge was required. Hotel generally looked tired and worn and room, for which I paid an up charge was ordinary. Bathroom was vintage 1950s. Location, of course, on the Boston Common, is spectacular but there are far better choices for the money in Boston.
We had a wonderful stay at The Taj. Our room was perfect with a view of the Public Garden. We were pampered with a bunch of nice touches from the bottle of water when we checked in to the slippers by the bed in the evening. The Conceirge Staff knows Boston! We used the Conceirge to help plan our day and he steered us in the right direction. So we went back and had him advise on dinner; he went out of his way and had a table held for us. Dinner was fantastic. The next morning we had a different Conceirge member suggest a place for breakfast. Once again homerun!
Friendly and helpful employees. Comfortable beds and quiet rooms. Great turn down service. Beautiful hotel. Awesome location.
Perfect location Perfect service
The Taj is in a perfect location near the Common, Newbury St. shopping and restaurants, and Copley Sq.
I loved everything about the Taj.
The bottle of spring water given at check in.
Staff is a bit patronizing.
The Sunday rooftop brunch was fantastic!
Location, location, location... The view of the Public Garden was gorgeous. The room was well appointed.
The room was fairly small. The bathroom was very small. The view would have been enhanced had there been a screen in the window and had the window been able to be opened more than 3 inches. I would have liked to open the window wide and enjoy the fresh air while admiring the Public Garden.
The location, the value for money, the services
Nothing to mention
