Friendly staff, good view from the room and quiet location. No
I'll like a better, more copious breakfast.
Pleasant stay. Nice room. Staff were very helpful. Beautiful setting Too much noise from groups staying at the hotel..
The city of Assisi no internet connection
Hospitality, exceptional details concerning environmental protection.
When we arrived at this hotel we were welcomed by the most charming lady, who right then made us feel at home and even suggested an excellent nearby restaurant (Il Buca di San Francesco), where we had a fabulous meal (try the Sagrantino red wine). The hotel is plum in the centre of Assisi, in a pedestrian street, but easily accessible by car. We definitely recommend it!
Our room had a bit of a view which was nice, a controllable heated towel rail & underfloor heating & the room was a nice size. The location was great within the town itself & within walking distance of the Basilica, shops & parking station.
The position of the hotel was excellent being in the middle of Assissi. We could walk to anywhere. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
The owner and her son with both very friendly and helpful, especially with getting around town and restaurant recommendations. The room and bathroom were very clean, and breakfast was basic but nice. The view from our room was beautiful, and the hotel was in a convenient location. The free internet connection was a nice bonus. My only complaint would be that the mattress was harder than I prefer, but European beds are often firmer than American ones.
A wonderful family-run hotel right in the centre of things in Assisi, with friendly and helpful staff. You have to be able to climb steps to get to the hotel entrance. Mind you, if you can't mind steps, what are you doing in Assisi?
The view was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable with good bed linen and the bathroom was nice with good towels. The TV had BBC world which was handy. There was a wonderful lounge area with comfortable leather sofas where one could relax with a book and enjoy spectacular views all around. There was one very helpful staff member on reception but unfortunately we can't remember his name but think it began with either G or J. Instead of a full a la carte menu being available we were told only two starters and two main courses were available - both of which were meat and I don't eat meat. We were not told this when we made a dinner reservation and were only told when we sat down to eat. We believe this was due to an American tour group staying at the hotel and ordinary guests took second place. It ruined our last meal in Italy. We had no bathrobes in either room and some of the little extra products were missing from one of our rooms but were in the other room. At breakfast the dining room was very very cold and the breakfast was basic. Tea and Coffee were from a machine and so you had to keep going back for another cup. A coffee pot or tea pot would be better.
I have stay at this hotel twice before and love it. The location is right inside one of the city gates and it has its own parking. The view over the Umbrian plain is gorgeous and the flights of swallows and swifts fascinating.
Located just inside the city gate, It was convenient to drive to, in a very confusing area of Italy. It was also located very close to the Church and tomb of St. Francis. Great views, nice clean room. Excellent olive oil products in the bathroom. They have a lovely lobby with great views, personal service, and inexpensive Wi-Fi. Breakfast was second rate - I had hot chocolate with breakfast because I didn't like the coffee (to be polite). Breakfast bread was just okay.
The hotel is beautifully refurbished, the staff were excellent, the aspect was utterly beautiful. It is very comfortable and clean. I loved being there. The atmosphere was very good. The cost was very good. At this time, Hotel Giotto would be my first choice when visiting Assisi. I will happily recommend it to all those I know. Had dinner one evening in the Hotel Restaurant. The food was poorly cooked, they took a ridiculously long time to serve us and to present us with the food we had ordered, even though we were the first to arrive that evening. When we complained, they tried to justify themselves, but the waiter who served us (whom we do not blame for this) was courteous and would not charge us for the meal.
Excellent location in Assisi with parking.
The staff was great and the dining room personell were great.
The facilities in the room were all new and clean. They did not provide me with a parking place near the hotel. In fact this parking is not at all convenient : you need to go up the hill to reach it and then up and down the hill all around the town to leave it because there are works nearby. It is quite dangerous if you are not a mount racer. It is more convenient to use the big parking below for payment and another hotel to visit Assisi
Great central location
View from the room was fabulous. Make sure to book a room with a .valley view
Wonderful location in the heart of old Assisi with a great view over the valley from teh bedroom window.. Parking across the road from the hotel. Modern room with flat screen LCR TV. Excellent restaurant connected to the hotel. The concierge really cared about you. Enter the town through the San Franciscan Gate and finding the hotel is easy. Try it any other way and you are doomed to a frustrating time finding the place.
staff very attentive and helpful, the hotel is very cozy, comfortable, and the temperature inside was perfect, great breakfast, location wise was well located, a couple of blocks up from the entrance to the city.
Location was perfect - could walk everywhere. Best thing was the parking. The room was a decent size and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable with wonderful linens. The bathroom was fine but the shower had no water pressure or volume - it was only a trickle and we had to hold the diverter the entire time.
The hotel staff were so helpful and accomodating - certainly a plus for a hotel. The rooms were a nice size, nicely decorated with very nice bathrooms. The view of the valley was beautiful. Dining was a pleasure - the breakfast was very nice, and dinner at the hotel was excellent. We would definitely like to stay again but for a longer time.
Great location and view from room The breakfast was not that good .Keep it simple and good quality
Central location, willingness of restaurant staff to serve us dinner even though we arrived after closing time Lack of attention from reception staff. Confusion over car parking arrangements and costs.
Excellent, enthusiastic staff, good location Beds could be better.
The view was spectacular, the staff was helpful and kind. The buffet breakfast was OK, compared to the coffee+cookie style italian breakfasts.
the position of this hotel is very good. Our room with a view was wonderful.
Fabulous...great location, beautiful hotel, great staff...very friendly and helpful. I got a little hot in the middle of the night I think our ac was inadvertantly turne off...but it wasn't too bad.
friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, breath taking views. surpassed expectations
Great location! One minute walk to Piazza del Commune in the center of town. Beautiful rooms with views of gardens, rooftops and valley. Two lovely terraces for sunrise or sunset views.
The location in the very centre of the city.
The owners/staff, the comfort, location/views of Assisi both city and countryside. The best would summarize my experience. Nothing to complain: it was perfect
The hotel is in a good, central location in Assisi. The owners and staff were extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. Breakfast was very good. The room was very tired and cramped. It did not provide value for money in comparison with other hotels that I stayed in, in the area, at this time of year.
Central location, pleasant and helpful staff.
Perfect location, extremely kind and gracious owners & staff. Charming rooms with fantastic views of the Umbrian countryside. Couldn't be better.
Location was very convenient to the sights, and the staff was helpful, nice to have a nice bathroom
Extremely pleasant hotel in the heart of Assisi. Friendly, helpful staff. Modern bathroom, comfortable room. The only difficulty is having to park outside of town. Even with a GPS we had difficulty finding the hotel and trying to figure out how to drive anywhere near it to drop our bags. But, once we found it, all was well.
Wonderful welcome from family who run the hotel and a beautiful view of the valley below from my room. Large sunny terrace also overlooking the valley and right in centre of Assisi.
The staff is very gentlemen. Breakfast.
They go out of their way to help you in directions, buying bus tickets, getting the internet working... I didn't know how to get there as I was confuse with the bus routes
Rooms were comfortable, spacious. Front Desk people very helpful and friendly, great location and attractive hotel. Bathrooms were small.
Excellent staff, happy to accommodate our needs. Couldn't fault the location. No on site parking so a substantial extra cost.
The room was comfortable. The staff were nice and allowed us to use the lobby all day long back and forth from our walks until we left the town in the evening. The bathtub was very small and the bathroom had a strange smell.
Great hotel in the center of Assisi, within easy walking distance of everything. Charming rooms, very prof staff.
Location, location, location. The staff was courteous, helpful, and friendly and offered the parking discount pass upon arrival. The public spaces at the hotel were stylish and clean and the room was nicely appointed. The continental breakfast was average. The carpeting in the room was dirty and you need to be a contortionist to use the bathroom; mold was starting to form in corners and crevices due to poor design and workmanship.
Centrally located in Assisi, Italy. Excellent value for money
Helpful staff. There was a large sign in the bedrooms with information about the room minibar. It would be replenished daily and one was requested to make a note of items consumed fom it. But.... there was no minibar. Not in either of the rooms we took.
Hotel easy to find and well located for bus station. Close to all the places to see in Assisi.
Breakfast at the Hotel is the best; lots of choices. Can request if some items can be taken out. Staff is honest, helpful, very solicitous. Location is very accessible to all places worth visiting. Everything is worthwhile, in fact the best hotel.
central location beautiful restoration small family-run hotel
This hotel is a delight. The manager, Daniel, and his staff were very helpful and extremely generous. While it is simple and small, it is charmaing and had a warmth and friendliness generally missing in larger hotels. It is located close to the Basilica of St. Francis which is the real purpose of traveling to Assisi. Having to leave so soon.
My wife and I stayed 25th,26th SEpt '10.The courtesy and assistance from the Staff especially Danielle was excellent. An ideal location for a visit to Assisi. The restaurant Da Cecco was excellent also. We would definitely stay in Hotel Berti for our next visit
Very nice staff, they were wonderful. They also reduced my rate. Shower was too small. Wi-fi setup did not work for iPhone.
The hotel is great. Spacious rooms with beautiful views. It is a nice touch to maintain old furniture and ceilings. You feel very comfortable with the modern facilities inside the old building. I'ts not easy to reach the hotel. I reccomend parking the car and walk to the hotel to get the directions. It's better than just driving around Assisi.
The hotel is one of the most charming and pleasent we've stayed in and the staff will go out of their way to help. Beautiful place to stay! Ray & Rachael
Great location; great views; charming features; lovely friendly and helpful staff; good value for money
The location was great. The 3rd floor has great views of the valley. The hotel is nicely decorated and the people friendly and helpful. The only parking available is in the major parking ramps for Assisi. You can drive up to drop off your luggage but that can be very difficult when the tour busses are in and people clog the streets. I would suggest you park in the guarded underground ramp near Basilica of Saint Francis. It is the closest.
Excellent accommodation in historic building, in central area, also close to St Francis Basilica. Relaxing destination. Would rate it higher than 3 stars.
Spacious and elegant room with a lovely view of the valley beyond Assisi.Superb ensuite facilities.
Very clse to the Basilica. No elevator If clientele are traveling from the train station via bus, they should be made aware of the fact that it is a considerable uphill climb from the bus stop to the hotel.
Very well situated, very pleasant and helpful staff
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful It was difficult to find from the given instructions
The owner of the hotel is hospitable. The ground floor of the hotel is built in 13 century, which meant we actually live in a historic place. But be aware of the time using hot water. Need to avoid peak time; otherwise, the water might be not as warm as you wish.
Very friendly helpful staff went above and beyond to help us particularly with regards to the parking. Access difficult to unload luggage. Rooms very compact.
A very friendly welcome awaits you. This hotel is in an excellent location. Can certainly recommend it. Parking is about 10 mins walk away, which is OK, but if you want to drive your car to the hotel to drop/collect luggage it's a challenge due to the narrow streets. However, the owner was very helpful, even driving the car for us.
The owners are friendly and incredible. Mr. Vicenzo did all he could to make our stay wonderful. The location is one of the best in the city, although a little difficult to find, wich is normal in this kind of city. The breakfast doesn´t have too much variety, but it attended our needs. Very nice and clean hotel. I would definitely stay here again. It has a lot of stairs and no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage all the way up.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. Room was clean. Best European Hotel I've stayed at in this price range!
We appreciate very much this hotel, The localization and room were excellents. I suggest include in the website information about parking and how to arrive at hotel buy car.
Nice hotel staffs in the middle of one of the nicest cities in the world.
I loved the very friendly staff. The location was perfect to visit all the sights of Assisi. The Michelangelo room at the top of the terrace was amazing. Getting up each day to the sights of the countryside from the terrace made my holiday so special. I did not want to leave. They needed to supply an extra towel or mop as the shower was a walkthrough to the toilet and once you used the shower the floor remained wet.
very nice breakfast. no
no hot water in the middle of winter ... we had to call 3 times to get the hot water fixed ... the reception and main breakfast area was in another hotel across the road which was quite inconvenient ... no main lounge area in the hotel ...
best location at the center of city, very kind staff and good service
This was a really nice hotel - modern, clean, in a great location, with friendly staff nothing
Fantastic location right in the heart of Assisi. Our room (Giotto) had excellent views. The staff were completely friendly and very helpful.
The staff are very friendly and breaskfast is served inside the room so you don't have to dress up to go downstairs to have breakfast.
It was right amounst the beautiful location of Assisi in an authentic old building, but done up to a lovely modern standard. Very comfortable. The staff were lovely. They had ham & eggs with the continental breakfast supplied which was much appreciated when you are not used to eating sweet things in the morning.
The Staff tried hard to understand our English and our needs. Our Adult children forgot their small children sleep folding bed; the Staff figured out our needs and brought the bed; Breakfast very nice. Location good for Assisi;
Good location, staff was very personable and helpful, room and bathroom were clean. Also, I thought the hard mattresses were actually relaxing.
I was upgraded to a double room for no extra cost
Nice staff, perfect cleanliness, everything in excellent repair. We had to leave by 10:00 a.m. No parking. Wi-fi only downstairs.
Excellent staff and breakfast, lovely and clean, great location No air conditioning
Great location. Good value. Excellent staff!! Very good location if you want to explore Assisi. The Interntet terminal in the lobby didn't work, and with no air conditioning, it was a little warm. But the WiFi worked and there was a fan in the room, so no real complaints.
Friendly and competent staff, good location.
The hotel was in a beautiful and peaceful yet central location. The staff were charming and helpful and I would be delighted to recommend it to anyone. Fantastic value too!
the choice that the staff gave me about the room because the hotel wasn't filled out so the nice reception board girl makes me a tour of the available chambers and I make a choice, of course ...the best and the most beautiful for the price that I gave for! ..with paintings on the ceiling..it was magnificient! none
Very hot, no aircon
Location is nice. Just in the historical center. Hotel stuff is really attentive. One will get some problem with a parking place near the hotel.
Sole is a charming little hotel near the Porta Nova and the church of St. Clare. Breakfast was served in their quaint and tasteful restaurant. Generous decanter of coffee and latte (decanter of hot milk) at every breakfast and with mutual greetings of "Bonjurno" added to the pleasantness of the experience. Expect a light but nourishing meal. Excellent linnens and housekeeping. The towels were not of the usual make up but one layer and flat like a piece of linen, very well laundered and fresh but not very absorbing, more of an unusual experience than anything else.
Nice personnel. Close to city center.
The hotel was well located and we were able to take the bus into town and find ways to only use stops that allowed us to take our luggage downhill for both the trip into and out of town. The breakfast was not very good at all, so if there is a no breakfast option then go with that. It seemed that no one ate breakfast there, so everything was stale and the woman tended the breakfast was kind of rude. It was clearly a "budget" room, but I do not think that the price was "budget" enough. I was able to stay in nicer hotels in bigger cities for less money. It did the trick, but I would try another place if I were to go to Assisi again.
This is my favorite budget hotel ever! Perfect location just above the central square, and incredible value for money. Nice room, bath, good breakfast, afternoon tea, discount card, bus card, guidebook and audioguide, lovely roof terrace, the offer of a hotel pickup--really, they were absolutely superb. I hope to bring my family here as soon as possible. The staff are great, but I'd wish the management were able to dedicate one person to staff the desk for a few specific hours each day--maybe one hour in the morning and one late afternoon? Staff were available by cellphone, but it's not the same as having someone present in the building to answer those tiny inquiries a traveler might have.
Cleanliness of the room and the fact that bottled water is in the room free of charge. The self-served breakfast room is always available to the guests for a free cup of coffee or tea and snacks. Shower is good and water is hot. Room is heated in the early evening hoursin October for extra comfort. Stephano was very helpful. For a person with walking disability, or travellers with heavy suitcases, please note that there are many steps to get to the entrance of the hotel from the street level. The taxi cannot drop you off right in front of the hotel.
The lady that welcomed us was very nice, the hotel is in a good location. Is the only hotel I know where we could usu their computers for free, very unusual and nice of them.
a real jewel of a hotel. it is compact but they make the most of it, with nice touches like tea and coffee etc ijn the afternoon. Staff were great. maybe not for everyone, as the rooms were on the small side as was the bathroom. The bathroom is a "wet room" so that when you shower the water goes everywhere! we wiped up the water after showewring. the location is fantastic, literally a few yards from the centre, and the car park is not too far away, but may be a problem for older / infirm guests and if you have a lot of luggage.
excellent facilities, very helpful staff, great breakfast.
Centre of Assasi for sightseeing. Very clean and staff very helpful. Bathroom/wet room small but ok. No car park, have to use Centre car park some distance away and 10 euros a day but secure
It was in the Old Assisi and just what one would expect for a hotel. There was a beautiful viewing room on the top floor. There was also a washer and dryer available. We were also give free transportation to the train station.
