This hotel was a stop on a moving trip. It's not in a great area of Richmond, but it's on/off the Interstate (if you take the right exit-easy to confuse Chamberlayne Ave and Chamberlayne Road). It was an older place, showing some wear, but it was very clean, pet friendly, and the staff was nice and competent. Just what we needed. Hard to find. Put the full street address on the internet, not just "Chamberlayne Road". Confuses the GPS.
The whole experience was horrendous, and that's being nice. To start off my family was there because we ran into an issue with the house we were buying. Nothing we could do, we just had to be quick and find a roof for the kids until things settled. Book something close to their school and it happened to be these. Booked a smoking room by accident and asked if it was possible to switch. The response I got shooed me. The owner looked at me and said you have to deal with it because you booked on Orbitz. I told him I would pay extra to get a different room. He threatened to put me out of the establishment. I had to wait a few nights before finally getting someone else that would make the switch. I also had to barricade the door because they don't have working locks in the rooms. I would have rather been homeless than be berated the my family was at this place.
Price was hard to beat. Location very handy to where I needed to be for business. Very basic rooms but what I expected for the price. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was also great. Corridoors smelled of smoke. While my room did not thankfully as I asked for non-smoking, my clothes still came home reeking of smoke just from being through the hotel. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel.
Exceeded expectations for my purpose and price. Rooms are newly renovated. Staff was helpful. Definitely please with my stay. TV remote was dirty, but other than that the room was pristine.
Its location Never any hot water, tepid at best even after allowing it to run for many minutes.
