The very friendly owners
The staff were excellent - very very friendly and accomodating. The bar and restaurant space was lovely, breakfast was very good. Small grounds, but very nice. nice pool. The rooms are extremely small. I would expect something larger for the price we were paying. I think the price is too high based on the fact that the rooms are tiny. I would recommend this hotel at a lower price.
I didn't have much expectations but I was surprised by its hospitality and friendly atmosphere we found there. We don't understand why the hotel has just only 3 stars and not 4 which should be more real in comparison to hotel we stayed in Roma just a day before. I do recommend this hotel to whoever wants to stay in calm and nice place at the Lake. The swimming pool could be heated. :-)
Service, views, appearance, breakfast were all terrific..
Excellent location, central to shops, lake and restaurants. Friendly staff and excellent value restaurant/pizzeria. Booked a single room which although had a balcony with a view of the mountains was very small and cramped.
The village is beautiful and the view from our room to the lake was nice and unexpected. The staff were very helpful and provided parking at no extra cost
The room was small but neat and clean. Staff always polite and helpful. They also offered keeping luggage after we checked-out. The place is central and very close to the city's main landmarks. And food at Alpino restaurant is good. Breakfast did not offer very choice.
Excellent central location, very helpful staff, value for money. Small room, no pool.
The staff were very friendly and the adjoining restaurant served very good food. It was a bit noisy early in the morning - passing traffic and other guests children.
Its situation. The car parking arrangements.
Beeing actually in the middle of old town. Good restaurant, not too pricey. Very kind staff. No ac, no fridger in room, not enough parking space for all guests. Parking in the town is very pricey, not having fridge, means you can not store any of shop bought drinks in your room.
Location was excellent. Staff very efficient thay organised me a transfer to and from the airport which was important to me as i was travelling by myself. Nothing
This hotel is set in just the right spot, the staff are excelent and the rooms are comfortable with what you would expect with the price. in my view this is one of the nicest areas around garda and a lot of people agreed, would deffinatly stay here again unless spending more money! No
The staff was fantastic and they made sure that we were always happy. It is a very central hotel close to all amenities, centre of the town and in a very scenic spot. Another point to mention is the fantastic food at the hotel restaurant at very good prices. Definitely would recommend eating there. We really could not find any fault with this hotel.
We loved the location of the hotel and the very pleasant staff. Malcesine was beautiful and I highly recommend a visit there The only disappointing thing was that our room was quite dark and the balcony was shared with other guests. The hotel was full and we couldn't move rooms. I would definitely use the hotel again but would upgrade to one of the rooms with the wide open views
The wonderful staff, great restaurant and lovely welcoming atmosphere, plus, of course, the breath-taking views.
A good hotel with an excellent half board offer. Good wine list with very good prices.
The location The paper thin walls and dated decor.
spacious room with balcony, own pool, close to the lake & about 40 minutes stroll to Malcesine.
Very nice place! We rented the apt for the weekend while my girlfriend was here for a visit. Family-owned business that really takes care of their guests. Elena was very helpful, as were all of the staff. Beautiful views of Lake Garda! I would definately stay here again. Nothing to complain about. A wonderful place!
The apartment was clean and spacious, with a balcony looking over Lake Garda. The pool was great with plenty of space and chairs for lounging. Parking was free and plentiful and easy access. The staff were helpful and there was a bus into Malcesisne that stopped right outside our hotel. All in all a good place to stay and at a very reasonable price. There was quite an early check out, but with a bit of persuading they did let us check out a bit later, other than that there was nothing that we didn't like.
Good value for money, budget for lake Garda. The room was small considering it was advertised as a room for 4 adults. Tourist bus was useful otherwise you need a car as taxi services are poor.
Excellent views, nice location with good access to Malcesine. Staff were really helpful and hotel was very clean. Would stay here again No English tv
we were well looked after and the hotel was convenient for the local resort and surrounding countryside
A lovely hotel. Perfect location, sea views, nice pool. Rooms very clean, spacious and air conditioned. Handy proximity to town centre via regular bus route.
Nice decor of the rooms, spacious balcony and bathroom, beautiful view of the lake and the mountains, undergorund parking, proximity to Malcesine, amenities and small kitchen well stocked The hotel is on the main road along the lakeside, which can be noisy
very friendly and family orientated unlike some other places in the centre of malcesine and already thinking of going back to stay at the lido
The wonderful view of the lake from the balcony. Hotel in peaceful location with easy access to Malcescine Self catering facilities were available if needed. The outdoor swimming pool was especially popular with the children. No
Excellent venue and view from hotel terrace and garden. Good food and totally relaxing experience. Enjoyed being able to relax in the spacious and well kept garden overlooking Lake Garda.
We liked the friendly staff, the breakfast, the pool area and the views. We did not like the uncomfortable beds, the small shower stalls, and the fact that the pool is unheated.
Very friendly, helpful staff and management, clean, excellent breakfasts. Good facilities Our evening meal was not the best, but I think perhaps we were just unlucky. It would not put me off eating there again
Beautiful views from front of the hotel. Great hot-tub with powerful jets. Nice garden area with comfy beds to lie on overlooking the mountains and lake. Approx 20 minute walk uphill to cable car ride to get to the top of mt. Baldo 1700 metres (highly recommended for hiking, views or mountain bikes) For the cable car to to top of mt Baldo - don't forget to pack a warm jacket. Bars with food drink etc available at the summit. At the hotel our room/bed was very comfortable. Also - free wifi internet available. Just get password at reception. Due to the fact that our trip was the last two weeks in September - it is only possible to dine at the hotel in the evening if you book a table the same morning at 10am. (difficult if you're checking in midday for one day). Car required to visit Malcesine from the hotel. Bus service available but did not avail of it. Timetables available at reception plus bus stop next door.
Very welcoming staff did everything they could to help. Brought a free bottle of wine to the room after they had seen my girlfriends passport and noticed it was her birthday! Will definitely stay again. For me it is a positive point that the hotel is away from the village centre as there is a bit more peace and quiet, but be mindful that you will need your own vehicle to travel to and from the hotel.
central position and views over the lake
Very different from other hotels - new, but very rough interiors and special solutions. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast
The view of the lake Garda from the balcony.
Excellent lakeside location and very friendly and helpfull staff. I think that the overly "trendy" feel of the hotel tho may put off slightly older travellers. Excellent value for money and would go back again.
Locality Breakfast basic, hard beds
pool, terrace, close to everything none
The staff were welcoming and very pleasant, they spoke very good english. the hotel was ideally situated close to the centre of malcesine. it was very clean and ours rooms were cleaned daily and clean towelsleft. the pool area was ideal. the buffet breakfast was lovely and at only 4euro was good value. we would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a value for money break. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been ideal.
Yes Very poor noise insulation. Could hear people in next room amd doors banging.
Friendly staff, comfortable room and ensuite, great value for money. Buffet breakfast could have had a bit more choice.
Close to the centre for shopping and eating.Nice pool although quite small. Good value for money. Better than the 2 stars it is awarded.
Centrally situated, quiet and the friendliness and helpfullness of management and staff. Nothing whatsoever.
We travelled to Malcesine for our wedding and chose Hotel Dolomiti based on other reviews. The location was very close to the bus stop and the castle where we were getting married, which made it very easy for the groom and others to walk to the castle. We stayed in a superior double room and it was a good size for the two of us. The hotel staff were very friendly and when we came back from our wedding, we were surprised to find a lovely bouquet of flowers in a vase waiting for us. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day for Venice and didn't get to enjoy the flowers for too long.
The owners were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms were quite small but very clean. Fantastic location
Good clean comfortable room, helpful staff. Our room was recently modernised, at the rear of the hotel (quieter) and air-conditioned at no extra cost. We found the food was very good and well-priced from Eu22 for 3 courses. Complaints come from half-boarders, but fault lies with their tour operators - pay less than Eu8 for full dinner. The Hotel is perfectly placed in centre of Malcesine. No coffee-making facilities in room. Poor selection at breakfast, toast, cereal, thin ham, processed cheese. (except at extra cost) However, coffee was excellent and abundant.
Very friendly staff, they try to help with all our requests. Good location (10 min walk to centre of Malcesine). Very good breakfast, parking avaliable, internet. Excelent value for the money, best price far around. Maybe they should have more brochures about posibilities what to do (biking, hiking, boat trips...)
We found the Stella Alpina to be a clean and friendly hotel, the staff were lovely and very helpful, the room was very basic but very clean, we had a balcony with a lovely view, it was perfect for exploring the area with a lovely walk along the lake in to the main town, which took around 10 minutes. Only one gripe the bed was not particularly comfortable (Very hard!) but otherwise a very pleasant stay
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly making our stay very enjoyable.
value for money, staff helpful room clean. breakfast could have been better,no tea making facilities in room, quite a walk into centre, and if your room overlooks lake very noisy early morning busy road.
family owned hotel. the owners were very friendly and welcoming and genuinely cared about the wellbeing of their guests. one of our party had medical problems during our stay and they couldn't have been more helpful.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful at all times. Rooms, although a little basic were kept spotlessly clean. Facilities and location were good for a budget hotel.
Single rooms have a separate private bathroom - this was not stated on the website when booking so had presumed ensuite.
We stayed only for 1 night as we had an apartment nearby for the week but we visited for drinks/snacks when we could. The staff are lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The facilities are basic but clean and welcoming. We did not have an air condition room but the small balcony was a big help to keep cool. Lorenzo and his family made us very welcome and we would certainly recommend this hotel if you are on a budget. It is a short walk into Malcesine and although it is on the main road there are lots of people walking to/from Malcesine. A few hundred yards there is a short path down to a walkway/cycle way along the lake. The family are all helping as Lorenzo's mother is in hospital so we wish her a speedy recovery. (August 2010) I don't know about the bad reviews that have been written about this hotel as we found the staff brilliant and would certainly stay here again. They offered to organise a transfer from Verona and I don't think it is mentioned on their website page so maybe it might be good to mention it?
the staff... their inviting smile and their eagerness to help nothing at all
Beautiful views, helpful owners, clean reasonably-sized air-conditioned room with balcony.. Nice pool and terrace
excellent service at this hotel, very helful staff. great location, short walk into a lovely town. I would recommend the apartments to anyone with a great view of the lake.
Everything was fine at Hotel Capri: very nice staff, excellent service, friendly atmosphere, comfortable room, excellent food.
staff very friendly and helpful, room was exellent and had great view, close enough to town centre to walk
Fantastic view over the Lake Garda. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recomend this hotel and will be booking to go back again next year to get married in Malcesine.
Friendliness, cleanliness, location, breakfast.
Excellent facilities and cleanliness throughout Hotel. Not as close to town centre as believed to be.
Main pluses were the view of the lake, staff, amenities.
Lovely location, overlooking the lake, but also easy walking distance to the town centre. We had a nice room with balcony overlooking the lake, but not very large. We travelled by rented car - the two fairly small hotel car parks were sometimes full and access from the main road from the South a very tight U turn.
Staff was very helpful without being intrusive. Location is very close to Malcesine center without being in the noisy center. Could do with a heated pool :)
The Hotel was really nice and great value for money. We particularly liked the owners attention to detail and hands on approach to the everyday running of the hotel. On small thing..it was unusually hot for October but there was no A/C
The Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable, the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The facilities were quite comprehensive despite the hotel being relatively small. A fantastic hotel.
balcony view of Lake Garda, included use of spa facilities, large spacious room, very helpfull staff and great location close to centre of Malcesine but far enough away to be quiet and have great views - would definitaley recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a relaxing break on Lake Garda - Malcesine is great too - our favourite of the numerous lakeside towns that we visited. on very minor note - squash drinks instead of fresh juice for breakfast - although we found the same in other hotels in this area.
Great breakfast every morning, and handy location just a short walk outside the town
The location was stunning. The staff were friendly and efficient, but always discreet. The hotel itself was a delightful mixture of old and new. A small suggestion. Being English I like to drink tea with my breakfast and I feel that a better brand could be on offer and Earl Grey should be available.
excellent staff & food
Scenery, staff attitude, hotel grounds & facilities
Excellent service and luxorious facilities. Relaxing, silent and very romantic atmosphere.
Location was beautiful and staff were polite. Overall hotel was kept clean and appealling. The weather was very hot on our stay and the rooms were not airconditioned, which made evenings in the room very uncomfortable, especially for the children, did ask the staff if they could do anything, fan etc but nothing was done. That was the only bad thing about our stay.
clean too expensive, very dated decor
The staff was always very nice and helpful. The hotel is situated in a very quiet place. The nearest bus stop (local tourist bus for Malcesine, Campagnola, Navene...) can be reached within 3 minutes. Another advantage was the swimming pool. You could buy a 3-course dinner for extra 6 EURO - for this money the food was more than good. The overall impression was very positive. The hotel is NOT situated where the map on booking.com shows it. The map on Booking.com situates the hotel close to Retelino (to the north from the center of Malcesine), while in reality the hotel is situated to the south of the center of Malcesine, i.e. if you want to go surfing, you have to go by car or by bus. As far as the hotel is concerned, the only real disadvantage was that my room shared the balcony with 2 other rooms, which is quite inconvenient especially when your neighbours are smokers - you get the smoke into your room.
Clean big room. Nice breakfast. Good situation. Balcony shared with another room was poor.
the personal was kındful
View of Lake Garda No car parking.
Breakfast We have been stayed in "B" Bulding, not in main Hotel building. I think room didnt match Europen 3* hotel criteria - no TV, no desk with chair, etc. Definitelly room looks diferently than you can see on the pictures. Room was quite dirty (paintings, floor), but bathroom was clean. Entrance to the room was via Balcony - to keep window/doors opened was not possible due to anyone could enter your room. We planned to stay there one week, but we rather left after one night.
It was a central location and the cleaniness of the hotel.
Surprisingly good room for the money, friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast and an excellent location. No pool or grounds.
great location and central, i had a room overlooking the lake so very nice views. Staff helpfull and good with languages and friendly. Food good and service quick and although decorqtion was old fashioned it was clean. reception and dining room a bit old fashioned circa 1960's ? Bit dark but probably due to all dark wood panneling. Needs a revamp but still this is what is expected in Italy and it was still a nice break.
Breakfast was fairly basic no fresh juice
We stayed here for our wedding night as we were getting married in the nearby medievil castle, it was perfect.
The fact they had no airconditioning was awful... The rooms were hot and sticky
good location, mostly friendly staff (see below). the receptionist who booked us in was rude. Rooms needed air conditioning.
Around the back of the hotel a lovely garden with sun loungers and umbrellas around a 17m pool and a bar for drinks and snacks. Walk 30 metres from here and round the front of the hotel over the road is the lakeside beach for sunbathing, picnicing and swimming. This area of the beach even had a lifeguard. Spa shop next to hotel for purchase of water and other supplies. Be prepared for no air conditioning in rooms - although there is some in the restaurant. Stairwell a bit smelly in the heat.
The location; friendliness of staff and their helpfulness and amenities in the area Floor covering in shower was unsafe. No tea-making facilities in bedroom.
This hotel was ideal for our needs, my wife and I are an elderly couple and we loved the peace and serenity, the staff were very very friendly and couldn't do enough for us,our stay was half board and was exeptional for what you pay, dinner was pre ordered the night before form an extensive menu, our stayed was from the 4th. of june 2010 for one week. This hotel would not be the choice of the younger set a there was no entertainment at all, access to the pool area in the gardens behind was via a steep slope and I would not recommend it to the old and inferm.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The swimming pool and gardens were lovely. The receptionist was very helpful when my wife felt unwell on the last day (This was from eating at another restaurant nearby) We visited mid July and No air conditioning in rooms so windows had to be open and traffic noise is particularly bad at night.Sleep very difficult at night when average day temperature reaches 37 degrees C
huge free parking, very nice swimming pool with a large green recreational area. Reliable public bus service to Malcesine downtown ( every 1 hour, 1 Euro, ca. 8 minutes). Absolutely fantastic views on the lake! Very good breakfast ! Relatively large rooms! Directly on the road, can be noisy at busy nights!
soft furnishings and stair carpets were very 1980's and a bit worn, evening meals were disappointing and could have been easily improved by more salads and italian sauces etc
Friendly Hotel staff. Beautiful views of the Lake from the hotel. Great swimming pool and gardens. Bike hire from the hotel for only 2 euros a day. No air conditioning in our room. No bath - only a shower with a mind of its own!
hospitality, garage with free sport facilities, parking
The relaxed atmosphere and very friendly helpful staff made our stay very enjoyable. Pool and surroundings very clean tidy.
Kindness of staff. Value for money.
i couldnt wish for a better location, for a lovely hotel in a fantastic setting and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The staff were really friendly & helpful. The room was clean & comfortable . The breakfast had a wonderful choice of food. The water was not always boiling for the eggs & A couple of times the eggs were still raw.
friendly staff, nice family run hotel, clean rooms, nice pool. Can hire good mountain bikes for 10e for day from hotel which i would definately recommend to anyone. check your room for damage upon arrival. Also its a 30 min walk out of malcesine although there are a few restaurants on the water which are around a 10min walk. But Taxi from hotel into malcesine is only 8 euro. No kettle, iron etc in room which would of been nice.
really friendly staff charge for using the safe in the room
The Hotel Benacus was extremely welcoming, spotlessly clean and a perfect choice for my holiday as a solo traveller. From the moment I stepped inside the De Massari family hotel they were friendly and made me feel totally at home. The buffet breakfast had a fantastic choice of items including fresh fruit, yoghurts, boiled eggs, pastries, cake, cheeses, meats and a large range of hot and chilled drinks.Fantastic.I would definately return to the Hotel Benacus.Thank you for looking after me so well.
the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was good, just a 15 minute walk into the town centre at Malcesine and our room was very comfortable with a lovely big terrace with lake view
location, helpful staff, personal attention . dogs allowed in dining room
The helpfullness and friendliness of the staff
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent staff; great location for lake and mountains; food excellent.
Staff were very helpful; the location was good - quiet and picturesque but within easy access of the town and lots of other places to visit using ferry and bus - walks were amazing - cycling, watersports and amazing for a wedding on top of the castle - we had a fab time and would go back again. Air conditioning would have been good and a more powerful shower - difficult to wash hair
View to the lake, very good breakfast included to the room price. The road below (circulates the lake) was very noisy, lots of traffic. Impossible to keep the balcony door open in the night because of the traffic.
The hotel was right near the lake and we had a good view from hotel. Breakfast was also very good. Hotel was 2km from town centre/ had to use local bus or pay parking fees when using own car.
hotel was clean and in good decorative order too regimented and with no other English speaking people.Little too far out of the town.
We really enjoyed our stay at Piccolo Hotel. The hotel has fab views over the lake, we wiould have happily sat in the dining room overlooking the lake for hours! The bedroom was recently refurbished. And the tourist bus stops right outside the door. It didn''t bother us so much but Malcesine town is about 35 - 40 mins walk away. But it's a lovely walk and there's always the tourist bus. Walls were very thin, bring your ear-plugs. Finally, although the bedrooms have been refurbished, our bathroom had not been and it was a little grotty looking.
very helpful and friendly staff no fridge in room
Very nice place, 3 min by car to Malcesine and 15 min to Riva del Garda. Little parking by the hotel. Free internet and international calls. We got a room to a rock view (literally). It was at the backs of the hotel, the rock behind the eyes and a backyard. Breakfast at the veranda to a lake view was unfairly prejudical to my mind (who stayed at the backs - sit at the backs of this veranda). All tables are numbered by rooms - you cannot choose the one you'd like.
Friendly helpful staff, nice environment, great views
no pay free internet, no info about Internet availability at all
Nice views from the balcony, excellent breakfast (for Italy :), close to Malcesine, and bikes were for free at the hotel
The hotel room was clean, and came with the (paid-for) view of the lake. The breakfast was adequate. This is not a 4* hotel - it's not even a 3. We booked 3 nights but stayed only 1 such was the disappointment. There is no hotel staff after 18:30. This is a joke for a "4-star" hotel. There is no air-conditioning and no refridgerator. No fridge + no staff = how are you meant to get a cold drink at night? Answer - walk 3km to the town and buy some... When we asked the hotel staff about the lack of fridge and air conditioning there was no concern, and no equipment was available for hire. When we checked out after 1 night there was no concern or questioning by the staff regarding any issues. I suppose they were happy to get their money for nothing. You have to enter the hotel via an underground garage at night - what a joke.
Quiet, good location, super staff, lake view. As bar closed early a fridge and kettle in the room would have been good for early morning and late night coffee.
The staff were excellent and the hotel and grounds were well kept. God swimming pool. The rooms were quiet tired and could do with some updating. This is a good budget hotel within the Malcesine area but approx 3k from town centre although hourly tourist bus is only €1.
The staff were very friendly, attentive and most helpful whenever we needed it. Very clean and tidy throughout No food available at night or lunch. Getting in front door at night would be helpful as opposed to through the underground garage.
