That it was situated next to the Rhine The extra charges, i.e. garage parking
Nice environment, clean, comfortable & quiet The double bed is relatively small, and the bed sink a little bit in the middle
location, room and amenities. great business center should not charge for internet access
I liked the staff ,but no free breackfast inspite of high amount of mony . The river side was boring . Nothing to do .!!
Original lobby decoration, clean room, nice view, very calm place. The staff were very kind and helpful but inexperienced and not efficient. Problematic service, needs amelioration. We were definitely expecting much better from a 5* hotel. Clearly overpriced breakfast (choice and quality: can do much better). Average SPA quality.
Nice location; great staff. Mattress was uncomfortable, it sunk in the middle.
A very new hotel. Excellent view (some of the rooms), modern and good quallity fixtures. Very well located. Excellent price/quallity Relativelly expensive add-ins (parking, breackfast, internet etc)
Very professional staff, beautiful hotel, clean, wonderful pool/spa area. When we arrived, they only had one booking (instead of two booked rooms). They booked us directly themselves for the 2nd room. I hope that we are not charged twice for that room.
We had a peasant stay!
I really don't know who gave them 4 stars! It is a 2 or maybe 3 star
Near the Center, helpfull desk staff not changing the sheets, room service not 24 hours, and internet expensive
hotel staff was very nice :) more equipments for gym would be appreciated
the hotel staff was not good in qiding to other location in the city .I experience this three times they never gave me the right diriction.
room was old, but clean and confortable enough.
The location and the general cleanliness and comfort of the room The parking was 18 euros a day which I think is a lot to ask for guests staying at the hotel.
The service was very efficient without being effusive. Minimal toiletries.
Excellent, helpful attitude of front desk staff. Excellent breakfast. Convenient parking. Good accessibility to the city and shops. The floor in the bedroom (room 402) was uncomfortably uneven. The charge for internet access was unreasnably high.
The room was a nice size for Europe. The staff was great. The breakfast is crazy expensive.
Front Desk Staff Courtesy Very noisy guests kept me awake all night !!!
They upgraded us to a river view room because we were there between the holidays. Then when they found out it was our anniversary, they left a fruit plate and bottle of wine in our room.
Staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel was undergoing renovations and hence some facilities were not available or were relocated. Believe hotel should have informed us of this so we could have reviewed our decision to stay there. Also hotel used by air crews who are very noisy and inconsiderate.
The staff assisted my with all my desires, and even helped arrange for a replacement rental car! Absolutely the best hotel in the region.
Great location, easy access to Rhine River cruise departures and scenic wine routes. Mainz offers a variety of nightlife, shopping and food choices, all within easy walking from this hotel. Construction/renovation at the hotel appears to be completed. Added a very nice restaurant.
Apart from being a wonderful hotel, I would like to state that the staff were the most friendly, courteous, polite people I have met in a hotel in a long time. They couldn't do enough to help in any situation, directions, taxi's etc and they also wished us, as Irish soccer supporters the best of luck for the game !!
Tea making facilities in room, central to city centre, easy access to bus routes, excellent breakfast but a little dear at €21 Poor bar facilities
Service was too good. Everything was good.
Convenient, expensive, lifeless. Excessive changes for food. Look elsewhere.
Good location and comfortable room. Breakfast buffet was impressive cost of parking
It's location was ideal-- Lack of use of a computer for internet. Not everyone has a laptop. Later learned that there seemed to be a computer available as airline crew members were using it. Did not appreciate the lack of knowledge about this computer and the attitude of the staff about using a computer. Was willing to pay a fee but that option not available.
Roomy room No wifi in room unless you paid
Good breakfast and location Wi-fi at $20 a night.
Noisy room, noisy air conditioning, noisy and vibration from people walking in the corridor, carpet with holes in, noise from equipment outside room, old-fashioned, small dark rooms, poor breakfast, slow service
Very friendly and polite staff. I found food leftovers in the minibar and clearly visble dirt (a sort of white flakes with a diameter of approx. 4 mm) in the bathroom under the sink.Very discomforting to put it politely.
Very friendly stuff. Rooms were quite big and compfortable. WIFI was available but did not work neither in my room or my colleague's room. Spent 4 days there and did not manage to connect to internet within this time. Would have expected that stuff takes it more seriously and tries to fix the problem.
breakfast swimming pool out of order
The staff are wounderful. They are very helpful and alwas available to help. It will be a great loss if you do not stay in Radison blu Hotel Schwarzer Bock. I hope to come back again Everything is prtfect and well studied. Is is unfair to say anegative word.
Everything about the hotel was great. The service that we received from the staff at reception were exceptional. They were all well informed and helpful.
The hotel was in an excellent location, the room was large and the internet worked well. Food was only average and the room was not particularly cleaned well each day.
It was just nice
Very helpful staff at front desk. Allowed us to check in early AM due to early arriving flight. Need more & better info re use of spa facilities. No safety info re use of eg sauna for first time users
Locaition. Building.breakfast.facilities at the room Cleaning of the room
Great location in center of Mainz ,opposite the Train station it is great for futhrer trips to Rhein region.Great value for money, clean room with air con and comfortable bed+ good choice for breakfast, makes stay at hotel Hammer nice experience. We are coming back.
The convenience of the hotel to the old part of town , the rail station and to the airport.Enjoyed seeing old town and visiting areas close by.
The receptionist was very helpful. The continental breakfast was excellent. The shower drained slowly
Location. Right across the street from rail station and tram stops
It was very close to the train station. You could walk to the main part of Mainz in a few minutes.
Location, and we had a very nice room with a view over the transport center plaza. It was not noisy and made for interesting viewing of people, trains, buses, taxis, trolleys and bicycles all making their way to somewhere. It was picturesque with evening lighting. We used the convenience of the train station after sailing the Rhein from Mainz to Koblenz. We rode the train back to Mainz and were steps from the hotel. The restuarant was not open in the evening. It is difficult to find by car, but excellent for public transportation.
Great location. Not noisy at all (unless we had the windows open!). Great staff, very helpful and friendly. The spa was not really much of a spa...old and not very appealing.
We stay at the Hammer am Bahnhof every year. Coming and going to the L. A. area these are our arriving and leaving stops in Europe. I knew Mr. Hammer, and I must say that the new management is at least as good as the old one, in serving their guests as it was by Mr. Hammer. Connections to all international train lines. Rine/Main ship tours. 20 minutes from the Airport FRA by train to Mainz.
It's the second time in this hotel for me.Great location and nice and quite. There is a restaurant next door offer Great schnitzel!!!! Highly recommend!
Bathroom was extreamy small...shower was even smaller. No signs in front to identify the the EuroHotel!
This hotel was over priced! The restuarant & bar was closed on our nights stay because of a wedding - the receptionist did not know about that. At 5am the fire alarm went off, we could not contact the duty person as no night reception. Someone phoned the police & fire brigade. After 30 minutes of the alarm sounding fire brigade had not arrived nor staff. We had paid the previous evening as we were due to leave sharp after breakfast but gave up & left 5.30am. Unfortunately in our hurry to evacuate the building I did not pick up a feedback form but will try to contact the company about their poor procedures. The location of the hotel was on an industrial estate not in the town.
the room was pretty big. also the bathroom was ok. very far from the city itself, 20 minutes by bus, hard to reach without a car. it's more a highway hotel than a city hotel.
rate is not so expensive; free WI FI at the lobby; shoe brushing machine at the lobby; next to highway and convenient if need to go to airport/Frankfurt by car difficult to locate the hotel when we drove on the road.
The hotel was very conveniently located for our travel purpose. The room was clean & comfortable. The check-in personnel were very friendly & the breakfast buffet was great.
The location to the Frankfurt airport was excellent - only 15 minutes away and all autobahn. Also the hotel was right off the autobahn, but still quiet. Parking was behind the hotel with no door to the back so you had to walk all the way around the hotel to the front door - this wouldn't be too bad except it was pouring rain!
The reataurant was great! I woke up at 2:00am to use the bathroom and we had no electricity. It was so dark,we couldn't see at all. Tried the phone, but no one answered.
Near my business The restaurant menu is limited - ok if you like schnitzel!
Hotel advertised as "international", but lady at reception desk didn't speak English.
Noisy bed, no english tv channels
Our room and bathroom were on the larger side for a European hotel. Breakfast buffet had both hot and cold items-very nice. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This hotel is in a beautiful building, very well located to shopping and scenic locations.
food was good di d not sleep well Traffic was to much. Also it was not warm enough with a thin duvet, there shold be another one in the cuboard
the hotel did not except the American VAT form.
The restaurant was excellent. The parking lots are far to small and very unpractical
close to the station and to the restaurant area, friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant next to the hotel(belong to the hotel) Rossini was one of the best Italian restaurant I have ever been.Don't miss their fish soup the room we were given was a smoker's room. they chaged for us the next day though. There are any steps to the room difficult when you have lauggage with you.
Wiesbaden is lovely town. Location and surrounding atmosphere of hotel is also good.
Clean and efficient staff. Good restaurant.
Spend next to nothing, get everything you need in a room. No complaints.
I had asked for de luxe double room, and l got a suite, which l was very impressed with, especially as l was meeting some new people. It was an excellent start. Good breakfast The suite was great, but the bathroom was badly designed, especially the shower, and the water temperature was never very hot.
The room is big and the beds are comfrotable The breakfast was not that great, also the room had No hot water after midnight which was very inconvienient, the room was too warm
Expensive Internet: €22/day is a bit too much.
very helpful staff, walking distance to city center,
Proximity to the center of the town No free internet access and parking is too expensive!
Very friendly staff, quiet room, fast and smooth elevator. Due to a wrong entry in the databank, I was first given a room that hadn't been prepared by the chambermaid. The clerk apologized genially carrying my bag while taking me to a new room and gave me a voucher for a free drink for compensation.
Near the center, friendly staff
Outstanding hotel - very pleasant room within easy walking distance to main square and sights. Very good restaurant with exceptional range of food for breakfast. The quality of the food and cooking was superior to all other hotels we stayed in across Germany and France, including more expensive hotels! Very quiet room and friendly staff. A baby cot was provided for free, complete with rubber ducky which was a nice touch. Would definitely stay again.
Close to historic center and train station. Good alternative to staying in Frankfurt.
very nice staff, good location no free internet
Conveniently located for my meetings. Friendly and helpfull staff. Good looking lobby and rooms. Too quiet, no ambience, no live music.
Customer service No
Excellent location near the train station. Breakfast was very good. They start very early with it, quite convenient for early activities.
We were put in a smoking room that smelled quite badly, when we had requested a Non Smoking. When I asked about a change, we were moved without complaint to a spacious apartment which we appreciated. The breakfast room, display and service were exceptional! Good access to the raillway station and not far at all from the old town. Internet/call centres nearby and an excellent laundromat - we were travelling for 7 weeks so this was most helpful.
Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean and staff was very friendly. It is just next to the city center.
Room was nice(but forgot to clean after the first night) and great location for Carnival
The breakfast buffet was excellent! One of the rooms was way too small! Hotel could use some interior updating. Bathroom smelled a bit on arrival.
The location is good, the decoration is lovey.
very friendly welcome at the reception and helpful staff some of the staff at the breakfast were not so friendly
Friendly; appreciated staff speaking English, very helpful to us; excellent breakfast, both setting and food.
Breakfast was great
friendliness of the staff, quality of the restaurant and the breakfast, comfort of the room, convenient internet access nothing
Quiet yet convenient location. Good size rooms. Only 10 minutes walk from the main station and 10 minutes to the town centre. Excellent restaurant for dinner with an interesting menu and very attentive staff
Location relevant to our destination was ideal Standard of houskeeping staff is very low
Staff friendly and helpful, Room big and clean enough, comfortable and clean bathroom with bathtub. No Smoking in the Hotel only outside, calm and relaxed. Breakfast 18 Euros per Person!!!!
Situated in a quiet part of the city but well within walking distance of Main railway station and city centre
Room comfort was excelent and good location ( very quiet )
Comfort and quietness of room, excellent breakfast and good quality food in characterful restaurant, convenience of garage parking
Location, cleanliness. Fitness area was small and TOO HOT.
Excellent value for money hotel, clean and quiet, polite staff, sadly did not get a chance to use poool and spa which looked brand new.
Every one was very friendly and helpful Bar drinks were extremely expensive €7.50 for vodka and €2.50 for the coke.
Room very good and the breakfast is great. Good price if you book in advance.
friendly and helpful staff
No coffee machine in the room with complimentary coffee for "early risers" like myself.
that wifi internet was an expensive add on.
Clean, comfortable and modern. Easy free parking on site. No Tea / Coffee facilities in room. Breakfast an expensive option at Euro16.
Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. Excellent staff, good car parking and excellent restaurant. I would certainly stay again next time we visit the area. No
No iron/ironing board, staff had problems supplying one
all newly renovated and refurbished in an industrial area, not suitable without a car
Good location for work on the west side of Mainz with easy access to the Autobahn system. And, a McDonald's across the street, as well as a large shopping center nearby. Breakfast is outrageously expensive. High cost of wireless.
The room was clean. The price was to high and it did not have any facilities. Decoration was poor.
Easy parking. close to bus stop to town, friendly staff It was a little hard to find - signage was poor
Everything More leaflet information about sehenswurdigkeiten
Great location, friendly staff. Good variety for breakfast.
Friendly staff. Excellent central location with lots of shopping, sightseeing, restaurants and a dance studio all close by. The hotel is ust off the the main street in a courtyard so a bit quieter. Really nice comfortable room. Pretty breakfast room. The bathroom has almost no surfaces to put stuff on. The toilet was a bit tempermental. There is not enough sound-proofing between guest rooms. Maybe I'm spoiled by larger, more expensive hotels. But the price was right. I would stay here again.
Central Position. For the rest basic services. Room and bathroom small but serviceable. Friendly staff. Cleaning OK. Price reasonable.
The staff was very nice and the hotel was pretty clean. The mattress and the pillow was uncomfortable (quite soft) but I understand that this is subjective
Car Park was part of the Hotel, not on the Street as with some Hotels. No complaints at all.
very comfortable and homely good central location
The hotel room was very clean and tidy and the staff friendly. There were no hot drink facilities in the room and so i was charged for the cup of tea that i wanted upon my arrival. It would have been nice to have been provided with a kettle and some tea bags/coffee sachets etc..
very good breakfast and near everything (Rivercruises and railwaystation) no fridge in the room, very bad noise suppression
Clossness to the Station and some of the city sights
It was centrally located in Mainz near the Bahnhof with parking downstairs below the hotel. Reception personnel (except for Sunday morning) were not very friendly. No greeting, no smiling...I felt like I was an inconvenience. Also, I noticed there was only one towel in the bathroom for my wife and I. I called at 1600 and asked for another towel. I had to call again at 2030 because we still did not have another towel. Not a very good response for a 4-star hotel.
The location to the railway /bus station. The staff were excellent and the room was comfortable and spacious. We were given a ticket on arrival which allowed free travel on bus and train within the Mainz/ Wiesbaden area. Bus/tram stop outside hotel. The price of breakfast.
Clean tidy good location near the train station, but not close enough to hear the noise of the trains. Staff very efficient and friendly, no problems at all.
Good location, easy access to train station, comfortable rooms. Portions of the building can be noisy at night (street noise), when requesting an iron for the 3rd time, the front desk simply told me maybe all the staff was busy and shrugged off the service request. I left with wrinkled clothes.
The attitude and service of the staff was excellent! The rooms were comfortable, and well maintained. N/A
Spacious, quiet and extremely convenient to railway station and main attractions. Enjoyed a nice dinner. Appreciated public transport passes and their convenience to the hotel. no
Clean and modern, easy to use room facilities. Easy to access from the train station. Free internet access which is speedy enough for watching websites and reading news but no good for skype or multimedia Small fridge with drinks (chargeable) which can accommodate a few small additional items. Public transport (which is extremely effective) free during the stay to the hotel and steps away from the hotel entrance. Staff friendly and helpful. Access to the parking facility not clearly signposted and charged additionally at 15 euros a day - this is not clear when booking via Kayak (hotel probably not responsible for this). Visitor has to choose between the noise of the air conditioning and the noise of the traffic if opening the windows. No facility to brew a cup of tea or coffee in the room. Speedier internet access available at a charge (not tried if really better than the free one).
Excellent hotel in ideal location. Great value for money and the cleanest room I have ever had.
Personnel friendly and helpful.
Good location, comfortable beds, very clean rooms and hotel, staff was ok but could of been better. Internet was very expensive and so was the breakfast for what you get.
Very comfortable and clean rooms. The staff was extremely helpful and we really appreciated the fact that we were given a free ride ticket for local buses and trains to Wiesbaden.
Easy access to transport means (bus and train), clean rooms. Nothing special.
not the monwy worth it:
THERE BREAKFAST HOTEL IS OVERPRICED FOR THE SMALL ROOM WE HAD
good location, very expensive breakfast
Other than the price, this was one of the finest hotels we have had the pleasure of staying in. The restaurant, Ente, is also outstanding.
Excelent staff. Valet parking was $20 Euro for 1 day which is a little pricy in my mind.
The hotel was nicely located the staff were very nice and friendly and very helpful the services was excellent Nothing
elegent and luxury hotel with a reasonable price the access to the spa very complicated
1. Thermal swimming pool in the hotel 2. excellent SPA 3. good location 4. good restaurants 5. comfortable rooms
Everything was great. Iwish I was able to stay longer Had a change of plans and had to leave early in the morning. COuld not properly enjoy the facilities.
Very wide range of choices for breakfast. During night, there are only a few staffs available. Due to this fact the service required was delayed so much.
welness club the staff in reception was not helpful at all
Large business hotel near main railway station and 10 minute walk to main shopping area. Free internet at reception, if you can cope with the screen a long way from the keyboard and at a 90 degree angle. It would have been appreciated if anyone at reception had actually smiled at me at any point. The check-in and check-out was fast and efficient but near robotic. No eye contact, no welcome when I arrived, no "did you have a nice stay" when I left. The food in their expensive restaurant was strangely disappointing and all the staff had vanished when I came to leave. They do not replace used glasses in the room.
location cheap foam pillows not down like elsewhere in Europe
comfortable bed and pillows no free wifi in room
Proximity to rail station and old town
Absolutely nothing appealed to me. The staff (especially reservations and management) were arrogant and inflexible.
The comfort of our room (junior suite) and the location to explore the delights of Wiesbaden. I was a little disappointed that the breakfast buffet was not staffed particularly around the cooking area. I would have liked an omelette.
The room is new and clean. And it is not far from the station. The coffee machine is very dirty. I am not dare to use it.
The breakfast buffet was nice and the one dinner we had was excellent. The bathroom shower was great.
Good rooms with good design A little bit noisy. The hotel is between 2 roads.
Great hotel, rooms very well equiped, great breakfast, would recommend and stay again only within driving distance from the city center
This hotel is perfect for business trips. Room was great, modern and clean. Staff was good and friendly.
Clean and comfortable hotel, nice lobby / bar area.
Einrichtung des Hotels war sehr ansprechend Lärm der Autos war die Nacht durch. Vielleicht sind die Fenster schlecht isoliert.
Breakfast was not included in the price.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The coffee was good. The reception is at the bar downstairs and gets exceedingly crowded when trying to check in/out.
32" flat-TV, modern interior Pet charge was expensive compare to the other hotels.
It is a nice, welcome hotel; very nice services; with a nice location and view;
The Contel Hotel Mainz was very nice, clean, and the staff was friendly and were very fluent in the English language. The breakfast buffet was also excellent. The hotel wasn't easy to get to. We arrived at night on the train and had a very hard time finding out how to get there. It was not close to a bus stop so we had to walk up a steep hill pulling our bags. They need to provide a shuttle.
the hotel was very clean and the staff exceptionally helpful. When we arrive the was no house keeping available and the reception staff came to arrange our daughter's bed. Very unfortunate that we were given as requested a no smoking room that has such an intense small of cigarettes and cigar that I had to keep the windows open all night and even spraying my parfume in the room many times didn't work. We got there late with a child who was very tired and had leave the following morning so couldn't be bothered to ask for a room change but I would have had to do it if I stayed another night. The smell of cigarette stayed with me all of the following day.
Central location, so easy to get to Schott Mainz. Lovely room Yes, the shower - the head didn't work properly and needs replacing
I like the view from the dining room where we had breakfast. A very comfortable hotel to stay. The breakfast was very good. it was a bit difficult to find or even get to if you carry a suitcase. Taking a taxi would be a sensible choice.
The breakfast The hotel is advertising as 4 star hotel but it looks like no more than 2.5 star. Very disappointing. The distance from hotel to Railway station is 10 min but in the opposite direction (up hill) is 30 min.
The location of the hotel. Free parking. The hotel is worth max. 3 stars
I think the Breakfast was the best part of my stay at Contel along with the view from the restaurant. I believe its too far away from the city center and the room was too small and the furniture was not upto the mark.
Doesn't look like much on the outside, but the interior was very nice and the room was large and looked newly renovated. Good breakfast. Lots of free covered parking. Was hoping for something closer to the old town of Mainz, but was fairly easy to go there by car (2 km away).
Spacious room in quiet surrounding just minutes from the city centre
the position and charm of the hotel. Excellent breakfast buffet.
Efficient staff, comfortable room
Breakfast was great; Beer Garten was a nice oasis 'hide-away' right in the city; Very attentive staff, and on our 2nd visit, got us a room with a softer bed when requested; Fun 'town-square' pedestrian area w/ yummy outside cafes, street performers, shops etc...w/in close walking distance just downhill from the hotel. Only ~ 20+ mins from the Frankfurt airport, great 1st nite (and last nite) vaca accomodations. They even offered a computer in the lobby for guests to use @ no chg. (w/ modern, fast software... Note: the keyboards in Europe are a bit different than in U.S.). A ramp on one side of the front entry stairs would help w/ luggage & people w/ mobility issues....and we allways wish for more grab bars & bathmats in European hotels.
When we enquired about a day trip the help we received from the reception staff, Mrs Thomas, was excellent, even better than the towns tourist information centre. Also the access to the internet was free and easy
good personnel, clean rooms and quiet to pay extra for the outside parklot
All of the Hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpfull. The Oranien is in the centre of town and as a disabled person, I found the location ideal. We were not aware that the hotel restaurant was closed on Sundays, which meant we had to go out in rather unclement weather to look for somewhere else to eat. We don't think there was any mention of this on your site.
It a treat that we plan to give ourselves as we travel to Europe each year. It is a true joy and worth every penny.
Very good breakfast and and the hotel beeing situated in middle of the town
Close to town.
