Good downtown location, convenient to lots of venues. Variety of food places. Liked the craps lesson
Buffet not as good as I remembered.
Price and location
Rooms felt dirty and outdated. We had a broken chair in our room that they never replaced and there were many stains and hairs on our towels and pillow cases
It was a pretty hotel overall. There were several restaurants available and a large casino downstairs. If you want the night life and the Fremont experience, this is the hotel to go to.
It was a long trek to the buffet from the Carson Tower. The advertisement said it was on the strip, but it's actually on Fremont Street, a ways away from the strip. The rooms had quick repairs, but were overall clean.
The pool area was amazing, we did private pool one day and enjoyed it but probably had just as much fun in the main pool.
The room was nice but a bit small for the price range compared to what I am used to.
We loved the shark tank by the swimming pool. Great food selections right in the hotel.
The room was beautiful, romantic, great view. The staff was lovely and pleasurable to deal with.
Parking. I did not like that I first had to check in prior to parking my car. I was bounced from parking lot to parking lot...
The shark pool
The pool was wonderful staff was great food was to die for
We really liked the pool, or at least the idea of the pool. It was very unique and had some features you don't see too often: the water slide running through a fish and shark infested aquarium. The room was nice, and the bed was very comfortable.
When we walked into our room, the toilet hadn't been flushed and pee was in the bowl. The pool was often overcrowded and it was frequently difficult to find some empty pool chairs.
Pool closed to early. Water and coffee should be free I mean we did pay for the room!
Out of the hotels on fremont, this was the most family, no dancers, low cig smoke, pool was great
No hot tub for the kids, fremont street = no kids, taxi ride to strip is over 30$. 18+ = good time.
The Chart House and Claim Jumper restaurants were fantastic for dinner and breakfast during our three day stay! The hotel room was clean, the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, and the close proximity to Fremont Street and other hotels downtown made the weekend trip a lot of fun for my friends and I! As well, loved the gym and spa amenities that were available to us, and we used them every day of our stay!
2 things were quite frustrating during our visit: the pool and poor Wi-fi availability within the hotel. The pool area is small and was EXTREMELY overcrowded during our stay. It appeared as if some people would put their towel and some belonging on a chaise lounge, and then leave (for hours), as if they were holding a spot for themselves for when they were ready to come to the pool area. If you weren't out in the pool area by 10am, forget spending time at the pool for the rest of the day. I will say, it was 110+ degrees all three days of our stay, so I'm sure on hot days, this becomes a problem. Additionally, I brought my laptop to get a little work done, and unfortunately the Wi-fi is not easily accessible, and it is very inconsistent once you are connected. The Golden Nugget needs to spend some time and money updating the Wi-fi system within the hotel so that they do not exclude any guests. Had I been a business traveler, due to the technological challenges I faced, I would have checked out of the hotel the first day.
We stayed here for the pool & it did not disappoint!! It's super awesome and our 4 & 6 yr olds loved it. It has a waterslide that goes thru a shark/fish tank. Plus you can swim around and watch the fish & sharks in a giant tank next to you!!!
The Carson tower is renovated, nice large bedrooms with comfortable beds
I stepped on a cockroach in the bathroom one night and that was disgusting !! We filed a report for inspection and we left the cockroach on floor for inspection to look at it, he took it and advised that someone will follow up with us but we didn't back from anybody ! The housekeeping lady kept waking us up every morning and we put don't disturb sign outside door but the cleaning lady took it out and still opened the door the next day to clean. I will never stay at this hotel on my next visit to Vegas because I had such a bad experience
booking price was value oriented but once you add all the extras adds up to what you pay on the strip. coffee xtra. water bottles extra. internet extra. should also have shuttle to the strip
The dining was great, places like the Grotto were amazing.
The only thing I didn't like is the fact that they're is an additional 25 dollars added each day to your room charges as a resort fee. Which would be fine if they offered complimentary coffee and water. I'm not big into waiting 45 min for Starbucks, I often found myself going to The Binnions to enjoy a simple fast coffee. The room smelled as well, and the parking garage elevator kept braking down. overall I would probably go somewhere like the palms next time, not as packed and very clean!
That they charged to use the second pool. No where on their website does it say there's a few to use that pool.
Really, I liked most of my stay at the Golden Nugget. They have superb telephone customer service, their hotel is clean and recently renovated with attractive dining options and they have several Starbucks inside.
The real issue is with the pool. Yes, it's beautiful and a site to behold but unless you arrive at 8:30am you will never get a lounge chair. Instead you might try to go to the Hideout upstairs. It's $25 to get in and adult only, but another $15 for the lounge chair--and that's if there's one available. And you better hope you're not near the DJ and his PA system; the lounge chairs start a few inches away from the speakers. You'll also notice that all the chairs are pushed together which makes it tough to store anything beside you, like a drink or sunblock. Oh and you'll be chasing the sun the whole day because there's buildings on all sides. I'll confess I went strictly for the pool. Luckily the drinks are reasonable, so you can always rely on good old alcohol to make everything better.
No Veterans discount
Much higher resort fee than it shows online. Not free wi-fi and only allows two devices. Dishonest staffs, don't give them your emails. Poor experience.
We stayed Golden Nugget Hotal & Casino at Las Vegas on 2/26/2015 through the KAYAK. I made a reservation for 1 room with 4 guests. (me, my wife, my two sons - both are over 20) However, I found that I paid an additional $56.50 for two additional persons. I cannot understand the additional $56.50 because we already booked the 1 room for 4 guests. So, I would like to know that the additional $56.50 was normal or abnormal ? Next day, We also stayed Riviera Hotal & Casino at Las Vegas on 2/27/2015. But, there was no additional fee.
Liked room - clean but could have used a bit more furniture.
Bell service - we called the bell desk to pick up our bags - 45 minutes later - still no bellman, so we carried our bags to checkout and valet - disappointed that the bell staff wasn't prompt. Promised to be at the room in 15 minutes - that didn't happen!
Liked being on Fremont Street but hate the "Resort Fee" not mentioned when I booked the room!
Last time I will stay here! After checking in around 8 pm, we get into our room to find the top 2 drawers full of food and trash from a previous guest. No telling how long it was there. I called housekeeping and asked them to remove it, We left the room and when we came back several hours later, still there. I saw a housekeeping supervisor and showed it to her and she removed a full bag of stuff and send another worker over to wipe down the drawers. The extension cord adapter didn't work so my wife tried to plug our phone charger into the plug near the head of the bed and found a half full bottle of "personal lubricant" on the floor. Never coming back!!
Overall nice. Probably the nicest hotel downtown Las Vegas. Staff seems nice.
The a/c didn't work in the first room which was also so far from the elevator (far walk). The second room- No desk in the room for me to work. The outlet for my computer was very far to work on the bed. Would be nice if there was better channels on the TV. It would have been nice if the staff talked about amenities or vip or gamble clubs or coupons upon check-in which an associates gets coupons regularly.
location for Fremont St is GREAT. Very unique. Shark tank stands out.
Hard to cover up age and high use motel traffic in rooms. even though clean room seemed dark and not so clean, if this makes sense. Petty thing I guess but have stayed in a number of different hotels/motels around country. having to pay for the coffee in the room to me is ridiculous. I KNOW we are in vegas but its a cup of coffee.
Bed was really comfortable and the room was nice, spacious and clean.
No hand soap! Also, they also gave me a room near the elevators (about 12 in one corner of the hotel). I kept waking up to the sound of the elevators going up and down all night long.
I love the hotel and especially the pool
I wish you guys had better pricing and deals
the bed was very comfortable.
the front desk was a bit stuffy.
