Great breakfast and the view from our final room was great
On arrival we found out the hotel was in the middle of being refurbished and the bar was closed. This wasn't too much of a problem until we heard all the power tools start work. We initially thought it was fine as we would spend most of the time out of the hotel anyway. On arrival at 13.30~ pm we were told it was a 20 minute wait for our room but we can leave our bags. We did so and went for a stroll around Paris, came back 40 minutes later and were told it was still not ready. We waited in the reception for a further 20 minutes before being given the keys to our room. The first room we were given was at the very top of the hotel and nothing like advertised, very little space to walk around the bed and not nice at all. The walls all had paint peeling from them, the bath had the woodwork broken, the sink had a lot of limescale around the taps and the sink was cracked, and the fridge was broken too. The "view" from the room if you can call it that was to a brick wall. When requesting a change of room the person we spoke to then spoke to his colleague and said in French "these people... Not all the rooms look like advertised" to which we replied "we know but it looks nothing like it at all." he was clearly taken aback by this as he thought we only spoke English. We were then told thst the rooms were not allocated on who arrived when but at the time of booking and the room he was giving us was reserved for someone else and that the hotel was full. Later in our trip the elevator broke down, normally this wouldn't be a problem but having our room on the 5th floor meant that it was 5 flights of stairs up and down. After fixing the elevator, all the lights except one stopped working inside.
This is not the same hotel which you can see on the booking pictures. One of the worst rooms I have ever seen.
Damaged furniture, old carpet. Damage paint surface. Horrible place. No proper light etc.
The location and the building from the exterior
It was very old and dirty and there was significant renovation going on which we were not told about when we booked. The lock was falling off the door, there was plaster flaking off the walls and paint off the windows. The room smelt of damp and the carpets were worn and dirty. The sink was blocked and the bath was cracked!
I had a large double room with bath for 100 Euros in a prime tourist location. Yes, the hotel needs refurbishment (and it’s happening) but that’s really part of the charm.
The hotel is certainly shabby.
The room didn’t look like the picture, no ac, no mirror and uncomfortable beds. The hotel was under construction and the workers woke me up every day around 7-8 because of the noise. The elevator wasn’t working. No bar and a restaurant with terrible food. If you don’t want to waste your money don’t stay here. The customer service wasn’t good.
