The staff at the Grand Wailea was welcoming! Rose was an amazing ALOHA greeter and iPhone photographer! She captured memorable photos of our family. Dennis in valet, was always pleasant, informative, and timely! Whenever we needed directions, recommendations, or an extra set of hands, he was there! The professional and efficient front desk staff provided a hassle-free check-in process. The onsite beach was beautiful with soft golden sand and HUGE green sea turtles will come alongside of you while splashing around!! I truly enjoyed the location of this resort. We felt safe being out at night and walking to nearby stores. We had the ability to walk to a small mall, the Shops at Wailea, which was within a 5 minute walk from the Grand Wailea. This mall was our "go to place" to dine, get snacks, beverages, and souvenirs. The Pint & Cork is a must! They offer awesome service and a great menu of "happy hour" food and drinks. Our waitress, Cheyenne was fantastic! We went back several times, due to her hospitality. In addition, I enjoyed being able to visit other beaches in close proximity to the resort like: Makena Beach State Park 3.4 miles, Big Beach ( this is a public beach, but it is clean, less crowded than resort beach, and beautiful), and Oneuli Beach (also called Naupaka Beach) 3.5 miles is a small black sand beach that is not suitable for sunbathing or swimming!! This beach is full of lava rocks, a lava wall, and waters can be rough! However, it is a popular spot for those who love to snorkel. If renting a vehicle to visit Oneuli beach, I would recommend spending the extra money to get a jeep or suv. We rented a car, and though it was doable, we had to drive with extreme caution to avoid getting stuck in the deep ditches that are throughout the road. A Word of Caution~ Be aware of the sacred sites along the Lava rocks on this beach and please DO NOT touch!
I didn't particularly like the over-priced meals at the onsite restaurants, the daily $40 daily resort fee, and the lack of nightly family activities (excluding the luau)!! There wasn't too much to do at night to keep guests entertained. Also, the pillows and bed lacked the support that I prefer as a back/side sleeper. The lanai area revealed not being cleaned regularly, which made it difficult to truly enjoy being out there. I chose to cover the sitting areas with towels to feel more comfortable. Since the resort is surrounded by natural beauty and birds fly around often, one would think that removing their excrement be a part of the daily cleaning responsibilities. Lastly, I noticed that a light near the stairs a few feet from our room had been out the entire duration of our stay. The area along the stairs had not been swept or mopped and smudge marks were quite visible! These issues are the reason this resort did not meet my expectation and failed to WOW me.
Beautiful, well laid out. Good location and excellent pools
Expensive! Especially the drinks
Service was impeccable. The spa is supurb.
A little overpriced for old decor.
Great location. Great pools. Staff were helpful for the most part.
All food on the property was mediocre to bad. Couldn't accommodate any food allergies. We left the property to eat most meals after the first 2 days. Also found 2 cockroaches in our bathroom over 2 nights. When we alerted the staff, we were told someone from management would contact us. Never happened to this day.
The water features were great - fun for the kids and still comfortable for our older family members. Great location - near Kīhei which has lots of restaurants
Not enough front desk staff. Extremely expensive breakfast buffet but Cafe Kula is a somewhat more reasonable alternative on property. One day they failed to redo my daughter’s soiled bed despite asking twice - gave a nice apology and a resort credit which was a nice gesture
