value greasy counter tops/table
i like the facilities in the room and the little breakfast room. i think the breakfast should include eggs and bacons.
Good value for the price Very close to the freeway
the 4 pillows, comfy bed and wonderful sheets! the staff was SO helpful with directions and had a kind, caring attitude. the coffee served in the Breakfast area was MUCH better than I expected, a nice surprise. (i'm a bit picky on my coffee!) it was all good. the managers were very kind and attentive.
Nice breakfast. Fridge and microwave in room was great. Mommy traveling with four year old.. Perfect for our stay, went Monterey but didn't have to pay coastal prices. About 30 min inland from Monterey. A couple blocks away the neighborhood gets kind of shady.
The hotel itself was very nice. The hotel staff. They did not honor their confirmation, and repeatedly told me that I should not make reservations through a 3rd party.
I am so happy to have chosen this property. The hot tub was so relaxing after a long day of classes. Staff was attentive and room was much more than I expected. Very clean!
They charged me $15 for extra occupancy without telling me and did not provide extra bed. For what thing they charge me extra ? Staff was very rude. Lights were not working in room. Will avoid going again to same hotel.
The gym was just what I needed. Treadmill, weights, and a stair stepper. Although the room was small it had a cute window seat my teenager girls enjoyed while working on their laptops. The room was difficult to move around in. The tv should have been mounted on the wall. The microwave was ancient.
We stayed here one night, the hotel was okay for the price. No problems, bed was fairly comfortable and room was clean.
The public space looks OK. We were waked up at 5:00AM by the bath next room. Apparently the guests at next room got up early and had their morning bath, which is OK. But the faucet of that bath generate an extremely load noise. Since the wall is so thin, the noise waked me all.
Good breakfast selection, friendly service, bed was decently comfortable. Tacky decor, weird egg white rounds and only sausage offered as a protein at breakfast.
I stayed in Salinas because it was cheaper than Carmel, so my expectations were different. The hotel is in a convenient location, close to all services, it was clean, the front desk lady (Leticia, I think) was very nice & competent. No complaints at all.
breakfast was best (variety and quaility of food and plenty of seating in foyer area) i have had for free. room was clean with micro, fridge, iron and hairdryer. bathroom walls could do with a wash. beds comfortable but sheets too small and move easily. walls not sound proof and can hear others when showering, knocking on and answering room doors. small, narrow rooms. good for overnight stay.
The evening manager has to be the rudest man I have ever spoken to on the phone. I was so shocked by the way he yelled over what I was trying to say that I didn't get his name. I believe he was an Indian man but am not sure. He was poorly trained and rude
We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The front desk personnel were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very neat and clean and the king size was very comfortable. They even give you extra pillows. There is a breakfast bar downstairs in the main lobby each morning. All in all we has a very nice stay.
The room and breakfast were what you expect from a lower-middle price big chain hotel. Clean, a little cramped, and rather boring. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool - that looked different.
It is a nice clean place. The room was good and comfortable. The breakfast was a good start to the day, not a full breakfast but nice.
The location was ideal. It was a sad time as the family was in town to attend a funeral. The room needed a microwave and an iron and ironing board. I assumed incorrectly they were in all the rooms.
Clean and comfortable. Wonderful breakfast and well-stocked. Enjoyed our stay!
The staff The location, no lotion, recycled dated furniture,
It was so clean!! New mattress. Clean, soft sheets. Plenty of pillows. Bathroom area was large enough for woman with lots if make up and hair stuff. Hot water forever. Nice new tv. Great free breakfast with really good French toast. Just families and couples so there was no drama at all. Very very safe. For around $100. A night for a Kung bed I was very impressed and I tried most of the hotels around salinas- the safe ones at least- and this was by far the best!! The manager was rude and snotty. All the other staff was very nice but she had a attitude that ruined a perfect environment. Too bad.
The Laurel Inn was a basic, clean, and good value motel. We booked this over the Memorial Day weekend and most hotels and motels in the area were "no vacancy" so The Laurel Inn was about the best value for the money available. The only suggestion I have is that the room for the included continental breakfast was too small for the number of rooms at the motel.
Good beds Old TVs
It was a clean, no frills kind of place. I traveled in September and the rate was $113/night which was a bit high but of better quality than lower cost places. It is very close to freeway access without being close to the freeway noise. The mattress and pillows were clean and comfortable. The breakfast area was clean, and the selection decent. The staff were consistently very friendly and helpful. The television was a bit outdated (30" CRT) and the picture was a little dark. I moved from a two queen bed room, which apparently wasn't used much and worth the rate, to a single queen room which was clearly used more and not so much worth the rate. The coffee in the breakfast area was terrible. Only on the last day, when I decided not to have the room maid service, did the front desk complain to me about this. Not sure why, as the room had been serviced the day before, and the maid was very friendly about it when I told her.
This place was great. Close to freeway and lots of close restaurants and stores. Very clean. Staff was nice. Good selection for the free breakfast. Pool/hot tub were very relaxing. I would def stay again. No complaints
Laurel Inn in Salinas is conveniently located just off Hwy 101, about 2 miles from downtown. Rooms are basic but clean, with decent TV, small work table, small fridge. Continental breakfast is fine, although some protein options would be nice. However, there is a Black Bear diner just across the parking lot, plus other restaurants and basic shopping options across the freeway (west) or over on Main Street (about a mile east). There is a small pool, although Salinas tends to be cool. Depending on room location, there can be traffic noise, but not too bad. Staff are friendly, and the price is right. Wish the breakfast options were a little better, but there are pastries, fruits, cereal, yoghurt and typical drinks. More substantial options at the local diner or other restaurants. Can be noisy if on the street side. Nothing fancy, but a reasonable place to stay.
Decent value, clean accomodations. Came up to play golf and have reasonably a priced stay since I wasn't going to be in the room much. Laurel Inn fit the bill. Rooms need to be updated. Old tube TVs! Mattresses, bedding are old.
good bed, quiet, about the same price as other hotels in the vicinity. tourist season high prices, but goes with the territory
Nothing Mold on walls in bathroom, disgusting carpet, sheets not cleaned
The staff was great and the room was sufficient for our needs. It's a great bargain. The wifi was fine, especially considering it was free. The motel is right off the 101 freeway and shares the parking area with Starbucks and a nice, more expensive motel. I was very pleased with my experience and would definitely stay again when in the area. I would bring my own shampoo and soap next time. In fact, just bring all of your own toiletries, pillows, comforter, and an ice chest. The motel offers soap and shampoo, but they are small. They do the job, but if you want something fancy, bring your own. It was comfortable, but I would have liked a fluffy comforter and soft towels. I missed having a microwave and refrigerator that you usually get in a more expensive place. Did I want to pay over $100 for these comforts? No. We paid $41 for each night. It was a great price. Just bring your own comfy items and you will have a great experience for an incredibly low price.
PRICE ONLY CARPET DIRTY , DIRTY TOWEL ON THE FLOOR WHEN WE CAME INTO ROOM ,FURNISHINGS LOOK LIKE THEY CAME OUT OF A THRIFT STORE . HAD TO PAY PER DEVICE FOR INTERNET . BUILDING LOOKS GOOD FROM OUTSIDE , HAD TO CHECK INTO HOTEL THRU A WALK UP WINDOW, LOBBY LOCKED WHEN IN THE SAME PARKING LOT HAMPTON INN LOBBY OPEN . YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR .
Easy to find location. About a mile or two to downtown and old town. Security guards are professional and works all night. Low prices. The new LG washer and dryer are good with pleasing result. There is a swimming pool. Lots of parking space. Hot coffee and hot coffee flavoured drinking water is available in the check-in office from 6am to noon, but closed after that. Closest fast food shop and gas stations are to the south about half a mile. It's on Work Street which is busy with big trucks. If you are on the west side of the hotel it is very noisy. I was on that side in Room 333 and it was noisy since 7AM. I switched to Room 124 facing south parking lot and it became much quieter. No fridge in room or office.. TV doesn't has channels in san francisco san jose area. The worst was the wifi internet. They charge about $4/day. When I needed it and try to pay through the sign on page and could not get past a "incorrect customer code".on that page. It didn't say which line was incorrect. So I had to rely on my T-Mobile phone and the Tmobile signal has only two bars..... If you are to visit Monterey it is about 20 miles west on highway 68 then highway 1. Kind of hard to walk around.
I made a mistake booking this hotel. Very dirty hotel... started from the lobby to the room... stinky place...yucks!, customer service is sucks!
Bed was comfortable Very dirty. The shower was covered in hair. There were horrible carpet stains. I felt like taking a shower after my stay there....sure didn't want to use the one in my room! The hotel charges a $100 deposit which isn't returned to your account for as long as a week. They offer no receipt for your deposit. This place should be avoided if at all possible.
location- easy 101 access restaurants & walmart only short 10 min drive great price for someone on budget WIFI isn't free:-( non-smoking rooms smell like smoke only give one towel for room with double beds linens are old & don't seem clean so bought my own at walmart phones in rooms don't work laundry service is expensive $2 wash & $2 dry & no change machine in laundry room & hotel will not provide any change pool is small & dirty- don't go in guess you get what you pay for
The price and location are fine and near the coast I stayed for 3 nights. The staff failed to clean the room or make up the beds any of the days we were there. The hotel staff was contacted but still not done. Very, very poor service and simply unacceptable for any hotel/motel chain.
The room is what I expected for the price. Everything worked and the room was clean enough. We were gone most of the day so we only were in the room to sleep. Our room faced a busy street and traffic noise was easy to hear, but when the a/c was on it covered the noise enough to sleep.
Price & freeway access
Coffee in Lobby Bed to sleep in Noise. Room 323 was noisy most of the time. Sounded like one of those wood chipper machines until later in the afternoon. Toilet hardware came undone. Discovered that the shut off valve leaks unless it is in the full open position...feet got wet. Fixed the issue myself and opened the valve to stop water leak. The first staff member I encountered at the front desk did not seem very friendly. The day of check out the new staff member was much better.
requested a non smoking room. The prior occupant must have smoked in the room has the room had a very distinct smell of smoking.
Generally nice and clean with good breakfast buffet. Check-out was at 12 noon so great for sleeping late, except you could not close the curtains completely (dark ones) and the California sunlight made it too bright for sleep.
The staff were all very professional and helpful. Room was clean with basic amenities in bathroom. Breakfast choices were good with protein offerings and not just carbohydrates. We have stayed here before and continue to find It is impossible to read the directory for the television, it is printed in a tiny font that defies even the most acute eye exam. We understand the need to conserve paper but this is ridiculous. Understand that this is an issue with Direct TV and the Corporate offices, they need to enlarge the room TV channel directories!
I was in Monterey to run in Laguna Seca and the hotel is perfectly located, just 15 minutes from the track. Upon check-in, the staff was kind enough to give me directions to everything. The room itself was clean and comfortable, which is all I really ask for. I had to leave one morning before 7 AM and I couldn't have breakfast. Starting a bit earlier would help some. The one day I did have breakfast, the eggs didn't look appetizing so I chose something else.
NIce room. The suite was comfortable. The full service breakfast was above average. An unadvertised parking fee of $10, even for Hilton Honors members. The keys did not work, resulting in an inconvenient trip down to the front desk, and then only one of the two keys worked. The biggest issue, however is the way we were treated at checkout. We were told that there was an additional $20 to be charged to our card. When we asked why, we were told that it was for food ordered the evening before. We told them that we absolutely did not order any food. Nevertheless, we were made to stand there while the checkout person went to get all the receipts from the restaurant for the night before, and then went through them, twice. Finally she found the ticket, which was for a different room. The customer had put our room number on the ticket. It appeared to me that she still didn't believe us, even though the ticket was clearly for a different room number. My feeling was that she was never told that the customer's care is important. If we said we didn't order any food, then they should complete the checkout, and send us on our way. They could then search for the problem. They could then have charged the correct customer, and if it was somehow their mistake, they should have written off the $20. We received no apology for making us wait, and no follow up. Though I generally like Embassy Suites, I would not stay at this one again.
Convenient location with a nice river walk trail and park nearby - great for walking with kids. Lobby areas were great. Nice areas for breakfast, happy hour and meeting up with groups. Staff was very helpful and nice. Bed and furniture was comfortable. Little kitchenette was great. Unadvertised parking fee Rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and change of curtains. Hallways and rooms were outdated. Also a deep cleaning would be good of the rooms and the balcony patio areas
Clean, spacious, cheerful employees
Breakfast was decent - service was great and welcoming. The elevator wait at check in and check out. Decided to just walk it down the stairs in a few trips rather than wait 20 minutes. Luckily we had the choice being on the second level. Need larger or more elevators.
I brought 3 teens along on a work trip and they were Happy with everything – the indoor pool, pool table, snacks, breakfast evening reception etc. having two rooms. was so much easier for us and everything was great!
Convenient location; free breakfast; free evening snacks & drinks Too many noisy children; no free internet; no free parkng; unresponsive staff
Pool for kids, full breakfast and convenient location The rooms need attention. Our room counter over the fridge had a huge crack. Really tacky and disappointing for Embassy to rent out a room with that kind of an eyesore. I've been staying at Embassy off and on for the past almost 20 years in various locations and for the most part you can expect nice rooms with a good breakfast. This time I just chalked it up to an exception and not the rule.
Breakfast and evening reception were good One of the elevators was out of service all week, which made getting to and from our room a very long process. Also, if we had known that the hotel was going to be overrun by Portuguese Water Dogs the entire week, we wouldn't have stayed there.
We stayed one night, checking in on MLK Jr day, after the long weekend crowd was gone so it was really nice and quiet. The check in staff was pleasant, as were the staff in the dining area for both the afternoon snack and breakfast. There were no crowds or line for breakfast (or elevators!), we more or less had the pool to ourselves... just downright pleasant. This was night and day different from when we stayed last year DURING the long weekend, which was pure chaos and packed with people everywhere you turned. While clean, the rooms could use some general updating.
Friendy, helpful, knowledgeable staff who remembered my name hours after check in. Atrium architecture is nice. There was a wedding going on on the atrium when I arrived. Good, convenient, complimentary breakfast.
Great breakfast and happy hour reception Need queen beds
Staff was nice and accommodating. Location and price both better than most. "Breakfast" minimal. A little more to offer would make a big difference.
The only thing I liked was how close it was to where I needed to be. Way too many things. Sketchy people living there, the cleanliness... I slept on top of my bed with my own blanket. I immediately washed and dried my clothes and blankets on high heat for fear of bed bugs. The fridge was slightly moldy. The bathroom was disgusting, I never wanted to use it, there was still comet on the toilet from when they "cleaned" it. The bathtub and shower curtain was so gross. To top it off, usually there's a cleaning crew that goes around with a laundry cat in the morning to clean the rooms, I didn't see that there. I saw an old lady, with a rusty shopping cart pushing "clean" towels and sheets. Really??? For paying $150/night, I wasn't necessarily expecting luxury, but I didn't think it would be dirty!!!! It had an awful musty smell. Never again.
I regretted my stay at this hotel. This hotel was... unpleasant. The wall was covered in scary mirrored tile directly opposite the bed for what seemed an obviously lecherous purpose. The room smelled of an unidentifiable saccharine, borderline toxic odor. I presume this was cleaning solvent of some kind, which is a mild relief, but it was rather noxious. The toilet was barely bolted to the floor and rattled loudly while you sat on it, and the bathroom door did not close or bolt.
Location. Management. WiFi
Location Check-in was difficult
Very good staff, very good continental breakfast. Very comfortable stay. Close to freeway . Recommended for first time visitors to the city
Spacious room, decent breakfast, very good value fotlr money. Could have been a little cleaner, but I actually expected worse from a motel so it was OK. Airport is close and sometimes the planes fly immediately overhead which is extremely loud.
Room was clean and spacious. Front desk couldn't find our reservation. They gave our room to the wrong family. Beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast room was too small.
Staff was nice. Thete were Roaches! Television did not work, refrigerator broken, no screens on windows. A very nasty hotel.
Location was good with easy access just off Hwy 1. Breakfast had hot cocoa, coffee/tea, 2 cereal options, bread (toaster available) with butter/jam and some breakfast pastries. There was a very strong smell of cleaners in the room that didn't go away the next morning either, but I suppose I'd rather take that reassurance of it having been cleaned! Bed wasn't very comfortable and everything looks very dated. Carpet could use a good cleaning or better yet, rip it out and replace with hardwood or laminate. Walls are thin too and we were disturbed on and off throughout the night, but it was ok enough for an overnight stay.
Nice cozy for adorable pricing Nice cozy for adorable pricing
Nothing Poor customer service, security problems, dirty rooms and furniture.
Price was a good deal. Room was spacious, with a small kitchenette. Neighbors were quiet. Staff was pleasant, if not very efficient. Breakfast was minimal, but ok. Smoke detector in empty room next door had low battery & beeped all night. Asked at the office that it be fixed, but it beeped all the next night as well. Finally found a worker to fix it. Housekeeping didn't start til 6pm which made it awkward coming back for the evening. the garbage in the room never got dumped. The shower curtain and bathroom window had mold; the windows got condensation very easily. There were cigarette burn holes in the top comforter and the mattress sagged a bit. Had hoped to be able to use the hot tub as our vacation involved a lot of walking, but it was drained.
Bed was comfortable, room was fairly nice for the price. Location is good. There was a loud noise coming from the wall, I'm not sure if it was the neighboring room, or if it was something else, but it was a loud buzzing for about 30 minutes at a time, and it happened 3 times over the course of one night. There was also a large window at the back of the room with no curtains, and a very bright light was on all night on the other side of it. I had to roll onto my side and face away from that wall with a pillow over my head in order to sleep. The parking was terrible outside my room as well. It was on a steep hill, and there wasn't enough room to back out and turn around. I had to back all the way down the hill and into an empty space just so I could leave. The complimentary breakfast was some prepackaged cinnamon rolls and toast, and the orange juice machine only had water in it.
staff is sometimes very nice and accommodating staff is sometimes rude, condescending, and unhelpful
Lage und Ausstattung waren in Ordnung. Völlig überteuert, Komfort und Sauberkeit lassen zu wünschen übrig
The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating to any and all problems there may be. The rooms also had nice air fresheners in them to keep the dank hotel smells out. The first room we were put in was completely drenched due to a leaky ceiling, so that was pretty nasty. But like I said before, the staff was very accommodating and upgraded our room for the trouble.
the things we didn't like was the carpet in the room ... waso ld and not too much clean and there was not a room for having the breakfast.
Excellent value for money. Located close to a large shopping centre with restaurants and cinemas. Only a couple of minutes drive (or possible to walk) to the centre of town and the wharf. Large rooms. Basic breakfast. Free parking. Good base for exploring Monterey,Carmel etc. Check in staff were not overly welcoming.
Clean, reasonable priced rooms
Spacious room, comfortable beds and the convenience of a dining table and chairs. We appreciated being allocated a quiet room, away from the busy road.
Clean room, everything works, nice fireplace, close to downtown, courteous & helpful staff, great value Parking spaces are adequate but a bit tight
employees were friendly, nice location, and David Doty was really helpful even though i arrived at 2:00 a.m. n/a
Very clean room, and good value for the dollar There wasn't anything that I did not like about the room
Clean, convenient, affordable, friendly, quiet. It's no longer the Vagabond. It's the Munras Inn. That was pretty confusing! The free "breakfast" is not real. It's a 7-11 pastry, Sunny Delight (which is a soft drink), and a piece of fruit.
Location to area attractions. The beds were tooooooo firm and not very comfortable.
Very pleased overall Near perfect...didn't like the pillows but my son loved em. Limited channel selection on tv
spacious rooms, very clean, friendly staff
Cleanness's of the room Yes it wasn't at the beach, the beach was over the motorway.
The kids loved the pool. Breakfast was good. Location close to the beach and shopping facilities was appreciated. No refrigerator or tea making facilities - coffee maker only.
NOTHING! I hated the entire experience however everytime I attempt to respond to this questionarre, I am cut off in mid thought due to the limited space provided.
The maids did a nice job of keeping the room clean This hotel was completely misrepresented on your site. We thought we were booking a Best Western standard hotel, but instead, all of the Besst Western logos had been removed. The hotel run down and the worst part was the room was cold and the heat was not working. There was a very old small space heater in the room that only heated part of the room and was dangerous.
The hotel was advertised as having free wireless throughout- this was certainly not the case! This having been a factor of me booking there made my stay far less than satisfactory!!! Unfortunately I wasunable to find alternate accomodation as the whole area was full due to the us open golf! Hence the inflated room rate!
easy access by car, not so far from carmel by the see if you have a car breakfast in the reception
location was convenient for our plans. the mattress
Big, clean room. No Wi-Fi, sad breakfast.
Free parking and very close to Monterey attractions. The reception was also used as breakfast room...we took it easy and simply adapted to the circumstances.
The hotel staff were very accommodating, and pleasant. The pool was heated and the location is nicely away from the bustle of downtown Monterey, but close enough to commute quickly. The furnishings were lovely. The carpet in the first room we stayed in needed to be replaced as it was worn and stained. The screen door, sliding door and the curtain string all broke when I tried to use them and our first room didn't have internet access. After being transferred to a room with new carpet and internet access, we were well satisfied. Both rooms could use a paint job though. Altogether a good value for the price.
bed was comfortable HoJo has definitely dropped their standards. Have stayed in Motel 6 that was better. Very marginal.
Close to the highway Cleanliness poor
We enjoyed our stay and will come back.. place was wonderful, our shower didn't have hot water, we called the staff member it got fixed within 10 min, defiantly worth staying. ....
Beds were comfortable and rooms were nice with "wood" floors and shutters. Seemed clean. 2 miles or so to Fishermans Wharf and walking distance, about a block and a half, to beach Bottom floor was loud. Walls were thin and you could hear every noise outside and upstairs. Breakfast was....meh. When we stayed there was No coffee (or staff) in the morning to refill it.
The breakfast that was offered was ok. Housekeeping staff was very nice. There was not enough room in the dinning area. The smoke detector was falling off the wall and the air conditioner did not work in the room. TV reception was poor. We were offered another room which we took. In that room the light in the bath room was very very dim.
Close to my vacation venues. Our reservations for 2 King rooms was not fulfilled until our second night of our 3 night booking.
I like the fact that it was affordable and it was cleaner than expected.... There's really nothing that I didn't like about the hotel except for the breakfast...i'm diabetic and everything that was being offered was too sweet for me
price was good, staff was pleasant, room was clean window did not lock
parking was bad .....the grounds between parking and hotel had trash piled up
The noise from other rooms up above all night.
Nice and clean motel. Appearence was good also.
The beds were very confortable and I like the fact that there was a fridge and coffee maker. Heating was excellent especially since it was quite cold that night. The receptionist could have been a little friendlier or persoanble. It's like I was just another "number" checking in. They could also serve the "continental breakfast" in another room rather than the check in office which barely fits 4 to 5 adults at a time (standing).
They do offer “breakfast” but its just a coffee and some packed sweet cake. The hotel room was ok, but expensive for its standard. Its just a motel and they should be cheaper than the priced we paid. The reason I would not suggest this hotel is that our room was not very clean. I found hair in the bathroom and in the shower, the bed cover had a blood stain on it that did not make the room feel clean at all. Of all the motel that are in this area I would search for another one next time I visit.
Helpful staff allowed us to check in early, which was very useful. Although our friends had a coffee-maker in their room, we did not have one in ours. We would have thought this should be standard to all rooms.
We enjoyed the recently updated rooms including the very nice bathroom with vanity and open shower. We enjoyed very tasty room service meals (dinner and breakfast). We also used the pool which was pleasantly warm. The toilet was a bit of a tight fit with walls on either side. The air conditioner was a standing machine which had an exhaust that was separated form the back and until we reattached it poured hot exhaust over the air-conditioning.
No AC in room.
Loved that they had live music. Restaurant had good service for breakfast and dinner. Food was good as well. Did not like carpet in bedrooms. Bathrooms a bit small
I liked the outdoor area. There is a large pool, hot tub, games, and communal fire pit that was a lot of fun. I really dislike the bed covers. You are either way too hot or freezing. What happened to old-fashioned blankets?
Checking in was not only expedient but flawless. Had no issues at all, was in my room within 10 minutes of pulling up to the front door. Room was excellent and I do suggest the pool view.
Quick drive into downtown Monterey. Nice rooms and property.
Comfortable bed, dog friendly, good location. Twice in one day our keys would not open the door and required us to wait outside for someone to bring new ones over.
Super nice staff. The $22 resort fee includes parking and internet. A little farther from the wharf/tourists spots.
Great location, just off hwy 1 and easy to get to. Card reader on room repeatedly rejected keys, but front desk was helpful!
Everyone from the front desk staff, the servers and bartenders, and the housekeepers did an amazing job. I work in the service industry in a casino/resort, and yet I experienced better service and a better experience with the staff at the Hyatt than where I work. A+++. The only things I didn't like had nothing to do with the hotel and its staff. It isn't located downtown, so it is a very short trek to the festivities in town. Also, it sounded like a large man was doing burpees in the room above us.
There was very little water pressure from the shower. Also the heater thermostat did not work. We set it at 80 we were freezing and went to bed, when we woke up the heater never kicked on but the ceiling fan did? So weird
Clean facilities, close to Wharf and other fun activities. So noisy! Do not get a first floor room. You can hear EVERY footstep the family above takes.
One of the best value in the area. Clean room, comfortable bed, courteous service. Didn't get to try the breakfast but I would definitely book again.
Rum was clean, good parking, location.
Location is easy to find and access, about 5 minutes off the freeway and 15 minutes from the aquarium and wharf. Hotel is all single story rooms for easy access. Room was clean and bed was ok. Hotell needs a bit of repair. The ice machine did not work and in our room the TV remove did not work and the toilet was loose.
The location was convenient for a conference I was attending and the price is considerably cheaper than the conference hotel. The value is good if you need to save money. But you can't expect any luxuries. It is a very basic motel with a TV and small refrigerator. However, the wifi worked well and the speeds were good. The nights in February are quite cold and the heat dissipates quite fast, so you must leave the noisy wall heater on all night. Forced air tends to dry out my throat and make it sore the next day, so I was reluctant to leave it running. One thin blanket is not warm enough. I had to get up in the middle of the night and put on an extra layer of clothes and socks to get warm again. We asked for an extra blanket in the manager's native tongue and were fortunate to get a blanket for each person (staying in different rooms).
Close to places to eat and easy to get to A/c could have worked better
The staff at the front desk (lady) was very friendly and made everything easy for early check in. Room was clean and walls a bit thicker than other places we've stayed in. Was closw to multiple stores and restaurants. Parking was a hassle, not enought near our room due to muliple cars for one room near us.
Considering the prices of accommodation in the area, Discovery Inn was completely reasonable for the money paid. It was simple, clean, had a free parking lot, and was not far outside of Monterey. If I were passing through again and wanted a budget hotel, I would have no issue staying here a second time. Management was fine-- for those people who have any issues, I'm sure they'd find that smiling first goes a long way. It was quite chilly at night and I would recommend bringing an extra blanket since those on the bed were rather thin (although there is a heater as well). I didn't hear noises from any neighboring rooms, but sound travels inside from the parking lot easily, so keep your fingers crossed that you don't have other inconsiderate guests that find it appropriate to yell in the parking lot at 2 am.
The room was exceptionally clean! The room and the bathroom were large and the amenities were nice. For the price, with was great. It was pretty close to a bus station. For the price, I can't complain. The fridge was unplugged so it was warm. If you're going to need it, you'll need to plug it in ahead of time. The breakfast was very basic. All this is no big deal. The only really bad part was that the walls are paper thin. Like I could hear very clearly the conversation in the next room and anyone outside.
What you'd expect for the price. No complaints. Beware: no coffee maker in the room.
Reasonably priced, everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The woman in the office was kinda condescending at first and thought I wasn't old enough to be renting a room. I'm turning 30 very soon though so I'll take that as a compliment let it slide. She was very nice the next morning.
Breakfast, The room was clean, location. A/C
