The bathroom was lovely, can’t fault it! The man was helpful on the phone and heard him with others and he was nice, shame the lady we got was the complete opposite. And the snack room is a nice touch.
Firstly the whole place needs sound proofing, we unfortunately were on the ground floor and the windows were single glazing so we heard every single tiny noise. And being by the front door we were constantly disturbed by everyone’s in and out and the most annoying beeping from the door. We were woken at 6.20am by a rude selfish couple checking out and left their cases inside, so they decided to bang on the front door moving quickly to our actual bedroom window and banged so hard and shouted at us to wake us up, so we could give them their cases back, this was not our responsibility and was really inconsiderate. Also the converted house did not feel secure, especially after this, anyone could easily break the single pane of glass. The man on the phone was helpful and kind sounding and he was to other guests we heard him with. The blonde lady who checked us in appeared very judgemental and was staring us up and down while almost talking down to us like we were worthless, she made us feel very uncomfortable and she needs to learn from the man or be taken off front of house duties. Room was decorated alright but clearly done cheaply. We stayed 3 nights which was too long, at no point were we asked if everything was alright and the room was either freezing or way too hot. Good price, but I’d rather pay more in future and will not be recommending.
This hotel is beautiful, the decor is modern and colourful. The bathroom had a large shower and bath as well as double sinks. The room was a very good size and was well situated in Morningside which is surrounded by lovely restaurants and shops. The hotel is owned by a couple who also own the local pub, the Canny Mans which had a good menu (although we didn’t eat there). Ben showed us to our room and was incredibly helpful with suggestions of restaurants which would be open on a Sunday evening. Ben also informed us of the history of the building, business and other information about the owners of the hotel.
The only slight downside was the bed, it was slightly firm for our liking but still comfortable.
Everything was fab - beautifully opulent room (Watson Suite), unbelievable value for money, complimentary drink included in The Canny Man downstairs and sweetie jar in the room (perfect for those post booze munchies!). Relaxed and welcoming.
On a busy, noisy street - didn’t affect our stay but the windows don’t really block the noise out much.
Helpful staff, location, cleanliness
No power points in the bathroom and no toilet roll holder
The room we booked was huge, plenty of space with a fantastic bathroom. Huge shower and massive bath, spotlessly clean. Mark was great, he couldn't have done more for us.
The only thing missing was a bluetooth speaker - not a dealbreaker but something I'd expect at this price point.
