It was both a hotel and a museum...amazing place. Fantastic location on the edge of Altstadt - old town - close to trains Cost - but that was not a surprise
- Great location- Converted old monastery to hotel with plenty of museum worthy pieces displayed throughout- New + modern rooms / facilities- Great staff, from the bell crew and the receptionists to the waiters and cleaning team- Decent WiFi Really have nothing to complain about.
This was an exceptional hotel. The staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. Great location in the center of all the action, but quite due to the large courtyard with high walls on each side that kept the noise to a minimum.
The staff was very warm and welcoming. They are the single greatest strength of this hotel. The rooms are nice/comfortable. The location is awesome! Good breakfast buffet included in your night too. I'll most likely stay here again on any return trips. I wish they had free wifi but they did not. The rooms were clean-ish but could have been cleaner. No free wifi is my main complaint.
If you want to ave fun at the bars and restaurants of the Altstad neighourhood, this is just the perfect location. It is literally right around the corner. Behind the hotel there is a paid parking for 15€/night, quitte easy. Just bear in mind it is a budget hotel
The position in Dusseldorf, the relative peace and quiet in a large city, the booking out time (1200hrs) and the staff. A very 'relaxing' hotel. No appropriate car parking included within the price of the room.
The location of this, only a few meters from underground - just a corner from old city -gave us the capability of going anywhere very easy. The carpet of the room was shabby and needs to replace it.
Friendly staff were very helpful. Very large room with plenty of space. Great loctaion for Old Town and shoppoing district Room decoration is old and tired. Bathroom dated but functional. Inside of wardrobe very dusty, need to clean before it could be used. Carpet stained, comes with age.
location rooms very small; hotel has not been updated/renovated in a long time - carpet stains, peeling paint, chipped furniture etc. all give the appearance of lack of cleanliness and care even when this may not be the case
Hotel in the center, old town of Düsseldorf. Everything to see is in walk distance. Staff in breakfast room (a blond man) was really nice. Breakfast was simple, but ok. This hotel is not bad to spend a night in Düsseldorf, not more. Bathroom needs to be renewed, and room redecorated. No views from our room. Everything was quite old. Breakfast room was too small, you will have to wait for 10 minutes to get a table if you go in the rush hour.
The room was large and the breakfast was excellent (it was included in our room price). The location is its best point, being only 3 minutes walk from the old town and river, and 10 minutes from the main shopping street. The shelves inside the wardrobe was covered in dust, so somebody isn't doing a good cleaning job. The mattresses were not the best.. The receptionist on departure was not very charming and didn't say goodbye and thank you to us.
Friendly reception staff. The bed was OK! Corridors and interior decoration rather run down / outdated
The location is right in the middle of the centre with all the bars and restaurants just around the corner. Very friendly staff, good breakfast, Nice room with enough space and big beds. Not very modern though. The floor was not properly vacuumed, because there were some peanuts on the floor which we hadn't eaten ourselves. Room was a bit warm too, while it had been a rainy day with temparatures no warmer than 18 C.
It's close to the restaurants and bars The noise from the bars that were around this hotel.
Centre of Old town, nice breakfast
It was not so comfotable at the hotel:dirty, noisy.
Good central location, lovely big room, friendly staff. Was a bit noisy outside but expected this.
Next to the Altstadt
Very close to market, shops, restuarants Hotel needs painting-refresh inside.
The staff were fantastic and the hotel is right in the Altstadt.
I liked everything during my stay in the Hotel. Location is perfect - straight in Altstadt. The only thing - it was quite difficult to find it as nobody around knows the names of the street & not every building has visible numbers.
location of hotel in the middle of the old town, friendliness of staff, big clean room water temperature in shower was not well adjustable
location is fantastic. Service and reception at Hotel is great especially lady called Sadie I think- very helpful with smile on face nothing - love it
place price service
It's not a real hotel, it's an apartment house posing as a hotel. Primitive is the best word I can think of to describe the place. Everything.
the breakfast and the location. it's noisy late at night. there are a lot of people (drunk) on the street and coming up the stairs. it's near the bars, so that's what you get. it's still a great location.
Its location at the centre of altstadt No
Location was perfect for visiting the Christmas Market. Very friendly breakfast service. Close parking was a bonus!
Great location in the Altstadt. When we booked a room in the AltDuesseldorf, we thought we would be staying in the AltDuesseldorf. However, upon check-in we were informed that we were booked in an "apartment" around the corner. True, the apartment was only a few minutes walk away and was clean & quiet...it just felt a little strange. It would be better to warn customers that during peak times at the AltDuesseldorf, they may actually be set up in an apartment building.
Excellent place. The friendly personnel. Not bad room. Good breakfast.
Room to front of hotel was very noisy. Spent most of the night reading due to all-night boozers not making it possible to sleep.
Literally inside the old town. Everything is close and in walking distance. The hotel is more like a family business but everyone is very willing. Only bad point was that the apartment we stayed in was 200 meters from the hotel and there was no phone to call direct the reception in case of a need.
The hotel was very good the only thing i would say it would be better if there was coffee and tea facilties in the room other wise it was very good.
Hotel very well placed for Altstadt. Comfortable stay with friendly staff and pleasant breakfast.
location no tea / coffee facilities
Location is perfect!!! almoust nobody can't speak in english...and reception not open 24 hour. when i ask about pay..i went another hotel because in abode was nobody on reception!for familys it can be very nosy because all bars and pubs near and tram stop near hotel
The Abode Hotel is in an excellent location next to a Metro stop, the shops and eating area. It is basic, but good value, and our room was warm and comfortable. The breakfast was surprisingly good and the lady working in the morning was very charming, funny and helpful... The guy in the afternoon could do with cheering up but maybe we caught him on a bad day.... There was no sign outside.
Very conveniently situated, clean and comfortable room and friendly service. N/A
There was no reception and found it difficult being non German speaking to understand the procedure for checking in. The hotel was also difficult to find.
The hotel abode is very comfotable inviting hotel however my qualm was that i could not find it as it is not signed up as hotel from the outside makes it very hard to find,it ,was at night ,i took 1 and half hours to find it! When i got into the hotel found a cosy and inviting room, not bad value for money and friendly staff also.
City tour, sightseeing, cologne as a much better bet. Pubs were good thouhPlease write at least 15 words No toilet in room
A small and quiet hotel in excellent place for walking and shopping. It is not far from underground station. This is a budget hotel but not bad. And they offer a good breakfast.
perfect location.... it is extremely basic...
8 points :)
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the room was clean. The dbl room was extremely small, not to mention the bathroom - it was miniature.
The location is very good, I used 20 min from the messe area. Plenty of good restaurants in the area. Hotel is ok for sleeping. Some noise from the staircase, and the curtains was to short to cover the windows. Don't bring anyone to impress.
The location is perfect. In particular, the hotelier was friendly and helpful and was able to give us information we requested - in fact I would say that he made our stay most enjoyable. Breakfast was good too and the atmosphere nice and relaxed. We were in room no 5 which was really big, bright and airy. Room had TV and kettle. Yes, we did hear some noise at night but with the windows closed this was muted. No problem sleeping. Would definitely go back. There was nothing I did not like. Maybe the bathroom was a bit dark and on the small side but this did not stop our enjoyment of the hotel. Because there was no lift - this hotel might not be suitable for those who are not very mobile but on the up side it is only 3 stories high. As a mature couple we had no difficulty.
Really a nice bedroom, very well located It is a pity that this kind of hotel does not have complet bathroom, I mean bath tub.
Great spot - excellent value, great room and very central
location and extremely helpful and friendly staff
Excellent service by the owner, or manager, He Was first rate and the absolute best pillow I have ever had in any hotel anywhere..
The central location made it easy for shopping, eating out and visiting the local pubs and attractions.
Great rooms very big beds, fantasic view of the rhine and square, close to all resturants and bars None
Prime location for Old Town, Friendly Staff, Good Breakfasts Large Rooms Room smelt of cigarette smoke at first. Shower was a little cool ? This was due to new heating system malfunction. No Bath
Staff very friendly, bed linen & bath room spotless.
location and the hotel manager was very pleasant and helpful definitly stay again centrally located
