The inn/building is fantastic. A converted 1890's lawyer's residence, the owners have done a truly excellent job of maintaining the Victorian ambience, and the furnishing, amenities, food, and grounds are first rate. A truly unique place - we took lots of photos. The rooms are tasteful, quiet, and the common areas are comfortable. There are no TVs in the rooms, but frankly you don't miss them. Very restful place. The town of Belfast is typical of the smaller Maine coastal villages. There is enough to do there for a short one or two day stay, but no longer. Basically a single Main street, curio shops, and a few restaurants - some very good ones. We made a one night stay on our way from Booth Bay to Bar Harbor. I understand that Inns, particularly B&Bs run by a husband/wife team, need some down time for both room cleaning and some respite from attending to guest needs, but they are extremely hard line on the check in time of 3 PM, so be forewarned. We arrived at 2 PM and were told in clear terms they had no flexibility on the 3 PM check-in time. So we had to drive into town and kill and hour. Several other families were there at 3 PM with the same complaint. Again, we understand, but this is more for information than a complaint. Otherwise the rooms, service, food, and ambience was fantastic. We would stay there again.
Staff was friendly, breakfast was good Place was a bit dated- could use a refurb
Excellent lobster bisque
pleasantly surprised-great value for price.
We liked the indoor pool, which was great in October. Friendly staff and comfortable room with view of bay. Would like to return in the spring for another stay. Since we are not early risers, the 11am check-out time can be a bit early for us.
Room appeared to be recently renovated - very nice, clean. We stayed here because they allowed dogs but now, I'd plan on staying there anyway. Nice people - nice place.
A modern hotel at a great price. The place was clean, well decorated, and everything worked well including .Wi-Fi and new flat screen TV. Hotel is within walking distance- about a mile--- from down town Belfast. The rooms have hardwood floors...probably because pets are allowed. I liked the hardwood floors even without a pet because they seem cleaner than carpeting.
It was clean, updated and the staff was very nice. They close at 9 and nobody is on site until 8am.

Location and view! very convenient to get around the area.. Very clean. Comfy bed. Saw housekeeper working hard when ever we were around. Spend the extra money for a waterview! Made me happy Everytime I went out of my room. Breakfast included was 1 bowlcold cereal, yogurt, fruit, and small juice. Inn keeper even joked that it would make a nice midnight snack. Would have liked a more wholesome adult breakfast. Netflix didn't work but I wasn't there to watch TV so no big deal.
Very friendly staff and a cute room with breakfast inside the cooler.
Easy to find, people very helpful, room clean & comfortable
Friendly staff. Clean quiet & cozy room. Plenty of towels and soaps. Lounge/restraint on site. Plenty of parking. Ocean view. Close to town. Easy to find.
Location was overstated. View of harbor questionable. Tiny TV. No hangers. Found faulty/dangerous electrical outlet. Reported to management.
Location & well lit sign on the highway Internet TV - blocked from accessing. Booked a double queen bed room with spa tub. Received a single full bed. No spa tub. Classic basis and switch.
I felt this inn had great value. A beautiful view, a little breakfast with a view and newspaper available, a very clean room , all new bathroom fixtures with granite accent and excellent water pressure , fantastic bed and bedding with great temperature. Very pleasant and comfortable. Best sleep in a long time. Deceiving from the outside and parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you For a nice relaxing evening
Newly remodeled room! Fridge/Micro/CoffeeMaker very nice! The view from the back patio & breakfast area was a real treat first thing in the morning! Room was thoroughly cleaned each day, coffee/tea replenished, and fresh towels left in bathroom!
I booked a cottage at CGOV after reading the favorable reviews here on this site. There were some negative reviews and possibly they just caught them on a bad day or had very high expectations. My wife, young daughter and I couldn't have been more pleased - we didn't make it in until almost 9pm from Boston and the owner was happy and obliging to help - even showing us personally to our cabin and getting us settled in. We stayed in number 34, which looked newly (and tastefully) renovated and was spotless. The pleasing sounds of guests enjoying themselves at the beach bonfire ended around 9 pm and the entire area was quiet as a library by 10pm - even being near Rt 1, though admittedly we were fairly close to the bayside. All guests were very respectful of each others' privacy and the time. We would highly recommend this hotel/cottage compound to anyone who enjoys getting back to the basics and spending quality time with family. The only thing that I can say here is that CGOV met end definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm highly pleased with our stay and we're going to try to stay there again on our return trip.
loved our stay here, comfy beds, comfy rooms, cute little kitchen lack of breakfast options, they did however offer tasty muffins
It was a good location. The shower head needs to be replaced, there was no room to put clothing away (1 drawer of a nightstand and 5 hangers), and the wireless connection was terrible. I ended up using a personal hotspot rather than the wireless service.
