The location is all that was appealing, unfortunately. The room was dirty, there was a fridge but no water supplied, tea and coffee facilities but no tea and coffee. Breakfast was disappointing. 4 star prices for 2 star accomodation.
The view was fantastic! The loft was spacious, it was like having your own little cave house. The cave walls of the loft made the room extremely cold at night.
It has a good envirement with a nice seashore view and warm hearted residence in the small town of Santorini island, Greece. There are some small insects on the bed mattress, such as small black ants, small spiders, green-flies, which really caused our worry and sometime sleepless in the night.
Lovely location, with a gorgeous view of the caldera. Diana (at the tourism information centre at the bus stop) was extremely helpful - with the booking as well as with general sightseeing tips and suggestions. Slightly hard to locate on your own the first few times. The first night there, we spent almost an hour trying to find the room in the maze of tiny paths.
Beautiful view We were very disappointed with our room. The weather was cold and rainy so we turned on the heat in our room. Each time we turned on the heat, the circuit breaker flipped off all the power. This happened several times during the evening. We talked to reception and they sent someone to show us how to reset the breaker. In the morning we used the hair dryer which was provided and again the circuit breaker flipped off all the power. We were unable to reset this time. We walked to reception with wet hair and requested a new room. We were told there was no room available.
Staff were very helpful. All transfers were on time. The view was fantastic. The bed was up a ladder on a landing. For people in their fifties this was initially a challenge but we became used to it.
The fantastic atmosphere, authentic design and convenient location Transfer did not turn up as organised
My stay at the Residence Suites was most comfortable and pleasant. I loved the traditional cicladic style of the houses. Caves are furnished simply but elegant and a great part of the comfort is provided by the staff who cant do more to make one happy. Excellent service! The location, most important- in Oia village. Shoots that I took can beat and compete with the post cards, and I am not a professional. The steps everyone talks about make the difference and the charm! Santorini is magnificent and the Greek food its like a good novel.
The Katikies Experience dinner and the fact that they served breakfast on your private terrace every morning. The room was much smaller than expected for the price paid. The food selection at the hotel was very poor.
Absolutely Everything That I had to leave
The views are incredible! The staff is phenomenal! The food is delicious! The location is perfect! We will definitely return! Thank you Sophia!! Everything was perfect!
Rooms were incredible, they upgraded us without even requesting it
When I arrived in Katikies I thought I had arrived in heaven, I dont think heaven could be any better absolutely amazing experience one I will never forget and will go back to.
The rooms are lovely and romantic, so is the private balcony overlooking the Santorini caldera. The swimming pool and the terrace around it are very pictoresque and relaxing, one could spend hours just sitting there and admiring the dramatic scenery of the island from the pool itself. In all, the hotel has a calming aura, it is so pleasant, that one gets reluctant to leave it for too long. Two things must definitely be changed in the description of the hotel. First of all, there is no full English breakfast (one of the main criteria why I choose this hotel). When I asked about it, the employees stared at me clearly revealing that they did not even know what English breakfast is. Overall, the breakfast is very poor for the high price one pays for this hotel. The selection of food is limited and cheap, plastic glasses are a bit insulting. This is the only reason why I felt that I did not get what I ought to for the money paid. It must be definitely mentioned in the description that there are numerous steep steps leading down to the hotel. For me that was slightly discomforting, but elderly guests would find it very difficult.
The view was amazing. The pool was great and the rooms were lovely. The breakfast was a little average for the price, but the view and location overcame everything!
The staff were very accommodating and kind. The view and location in central Oia were lovely and the accomodations were very traditional. The location and studios we booked and stayed in for 1 night at Caldera Villas were very poor and not nearly worth the price. They were down the caldera 100 difficult steps and the rooms were tiny, very basic and unattractive. One bed was up a narrow ladder in a loft. Fortunately the manager was able to move us to rooms at the Residence Suites annex for our next 2 nights. Those rooms were much larger and more attractive, but with no special amenities. Though much better, this hotel was also somewhat overpriced for what it offered. The breakfast was terrible, especially the orange juice and coffee.
Staff were great, really helpful and friendly. The view is amazing and it is a very romantic setting.Hotel was beautiful. The loft apartment although nice has a ladder to go up to the bedroom. We probably should have be told about this as it was dangerous in the middle of the night to go down to the bathroom. Also the caldera apartments are at the bottom of the hill with a very steep slippery path going up some older people may not have managed this.
The view overcharge for a little hospitality i.e. no water bottle, no toileterry, poor breakfast quality
Great location, facilities and staff.
The view was an amazing and the staff as well. Amazing room and service. They didn`t have Frappe or Freddo which is a must in Greece but for the rest was great.
The service was excellent and very friendly, the rooms were beautiful - CD player in room etc. We had our own sun loungers and the pool, although very small was very much appreciated.
incredible view, even if from our room you weren't able to see the caldera and the sunset...swimmin pool. too expensive for the quality of the rooms.
The location was absolutely spectacular and the room was exactly what we were hoping for. The cave rooms were traditional, yet they included the modern conveniences in a way that didn't seem out of place. The view from the hotel was a postcard at every turn. The hotel was perfectly located for everything we wanted to do, everything was within walking distance. We didn't dislike this aspect of the hotel, but I would like to state that the stairways of this type of hotel are difficult to navigate for anyone but the most agile and healthy. Anyone with any type of walking difficulty, including arthritis, would have a difficult time navigating the steps to the rooms and pool.
We stayed here 10 years ago and realized there are a lot of other options...Oia Mare needs to update their facility and service to keep up with their competition. However, the views are incredible and we loved the location. I did not like the fact that there was not one drawer to put our belongings in. Amenities in the room were the bare minimum and could be improved.
Wonderful location, particularly for sunsets, great staff and wonderful outdoor lounge area. I was given a small room, fit only for an individual, which was ok, but it was really small, their smallest room, I called it a cave room with no room for even a small table and a chair. So, I had a bed and a bathroom/shower but that was it. I wished I had known it was going to be so small.
The location was excellent and watching the sunset view from our balcony was an amazing experience. The room was over-priced (you definitely pay for the view), but the amenities were no better than any other place we stayed in Greece (most of which we payed 1/7 the price for!). Also, I wish I had been forewarned that this hotel, like many in Oia, requires hiking up and down many, many stone steps. It is not for anyone of questionable fitness or mobility.
The city of Oia Definitely not worth the price. Very old looking bathroom. Minimalist breakfast for a 4 stars hotel. Hotel acces is hard : 10 minutes of walk with a lot of stairs (hotel crew can help with the luggages).
fantastic view, amazing location difficult to access hotel from parking, a bit too "rustic", breakfast very basic
Fantastic view. Nice rooms, very good breakfast. Will stay again;) Sometimes the water from the shower is not warm nor strong enough.
View is amazing. Staff was not friendly and our room, a cave room was a bit of a dissapointment but you are paying for the view and it is worth it. Regardless of all the negatives, I would probably recommend the hotel due to the view/location but I think expectations should be managed. I would also recommend looking at other similar hotels for the same price point to see if some offer similar views with better service. Poor service. Booked through booking.com. No one told us to check in at an office management company near the bus stop. Spent a lot of time trying to find hotel and when did, they seemed annoyed that we hadn't previously checked in with the management company. After we started unpacking our stuff, realized that the only light in the bathroom was not working and it took over an 1 hour to have it replaced which delayed our plans for dinner. Decor of the room was underwhelming, box spring of the bed was a piece of plywood, bathroom sink was leaking water onto the floor. When lying by the pool reading, staffer stood next to my lounge chair and talked on her cell phone for over 10 mins. Seemed annoyed when asked for clean plates at breakfast
This hotel has an excellent setting in Oia; well designed and charming. It sits well in the ambience of Oia. A perfect location to see the setting of the sun. The traditional cave houses and the "cave-like" pool too. An unforgettable experience. Many guest reviews complain about the steps, the climbing to reach this hotel but I think that that is necessary considering the location and the very nature of Oia. I booked a single room and was given the smallest room with no windows, no air-conditioning...the so-called window is wired...hence, very little air...also I felt that they should lower the price for that small room (where the main electricity box is) if the management still consider it decent to rent out. I felt short-changed in some ways. What makes my stay pleasant is the facilities and the excellent staff service.
Nice views of volcano & harbour Hard bed, no shower curtain for shower, thin towels. Locals said it is not good value and owner /manager writes the reviews for Trip Advisor.
the view ; the swimming pool . too expensive for what it was offering
Location and staff High prices did not reflect quality of hotel
Fabulous property, staff, location, view and restaurant Nothing
Amazing location, helpful, welcoming staff...unique property!
All, the staff, the services, the wheather....ALL!! No, there was not!
Everything was perfect. Our highlight was the dinner, which was as romantic as it can get!
The beauty of the site, the service, The room was very spare in furniture and decorations, the couch was not comfortable and the surface space was much too limited.
Staff was super focused on individual service and locations was absolutely perfect. All was perfect
Everything is perfect... room, view, breakfast, service...
The excellent service provided by the villa's owners. The great location which is away from the touristy stretch of villas, yet close enough (within walking distance) to reach for shopping, meals and to catch the spectacular sunset.
Everything. The hotel is very nice and well located.
Very relaxing and quite (end of season) very friendly owners with good pool.
The staff was wonderfully accommodating and we enjoyed our room and patio very much. It was nice not to be in the midst of the hectic area around the shopping and restaurants.
Our staying at Anemoussa Villa was great. The staff of the hotel was really pleasant and they were really helpful. We highly recommend this hotel: close to Oia, very quiet and once again with a really kind staff!!!! Thanks for all, Jon&Itziar
professional and accommodating staff
Very friendly people, very clean, very helpful.
the staff at this family-run hotel are extremely friendly and willing to help you out for anything...I would definately go back!!!
The friendliness and excellent service provided by the proprietors who treated us like family. Excellent breakfast with home made sweet orange served with the Greek yogurt. Also the best Greek salad on the island and plentiful, a portion that was enough for two people.Fresh towels every day and bed linen changed every other day. Nothing was too much trouble for Irini the manager/receptrionist her advice and good knowledge of the area re sight seeing where to eat etc. very sweet young helpful lady spoke beautiful English. because it was our wedding anniversary on our arrival there was a bottle of wine in our room which was very considerate also we were given a sea view room we had requested we could see the other islands across the sea bathroom was too small
Accommodation;particularly friendly and helpful staff;swimming pool;far(enough) from the madding crowd! No
its a really nice hotel to explore Santorini, especially for watching sunset in Oia. very closed to bus station in Oia, friendly stuff and beautiful countyard. i am impressived the breakfast i had on the top stage in this hotel, facing to sea, thats amazing! the floor of bathroom was always very wet after shower but there is no mat to avoid slip, but they cleaned everyday so its not too inconvenient.
I liked the location and the tranquility of the place, although close to shopping and city center. The staff is very nice and helpful.
The location was great and staff helpful, The pool was wonderful The shower was small but adequate
The staff is friendly and the hotel is nice to stay. The chair at the balcony is a bit dusty and my room couldn't detect the WIFI connection.
The had a lovely ambiance with the typical style of the white buildings with blue doors in Santorini. The water pressure was low in the shower.
I like the hotel design and location.
Aethrio was a slice of heaven! The double room we had was very large with a sofa and big cabinet/dresser. The bathroom was modern and clean. The hotel itself was splendid, atmospheric, and all the rooms appeared to have private balconies. The rooftop patio had fantastic views with sea on either side including view of the beautiful sunset of Santorini. The owner was very kind and helpful. Altogether this hotel is great value for money. The hotel front desk closed by 8:30 p.m. which is just about the time you want to order a drink before catching the sunset. Otherwise we have no other complaints!
The hotel has a very beautiful commun area, a very nice swimming pool, a nice terrace with a view to the sunset, and is very well located in Oia. The rooms are big and calm. The reception gives good directions and informations to visit the island. The rooms are dark, and the one we had, the bathroom was in a cave and it smelled really bad, the smell would spread to the whole room, really unpleasant. We asked the staff if they could change us to another room and they said they were full, considering our stay was for four days. The breakfast is very poor, and repetitive. You really don t get the services, amenities, and rooms structures that you expect for the price paied. The breakfast is from 8h30am untill 10am, and receptions closes at 8h30pm.
I liked that the hotel had a pool and a sunset terrace. They were able to change our hotel room after we were displeased with the first room they gave to us which was dark, unwelcoming and cave-like room. I like that they offered us a small bottle of wine on our welcome. They told us it was complimentary because we were on our honeymoon however every person we saw check in to the hotel received one too! The people at the desk were not very friendly or helpful. The hotel was way overpriced for the amenities and services they include. The breakfast was horrible, canned fruit, packaged meats and stale bread. Our toilet was broken for a day and a half. We were on our honeymoon and very happy to leave this hotel after 3 nights and find somewhere else to stay.
Great location. Very rustic. The suite was enormous and had great outdoor space and lovely views (although not of the caldera). Quite expensive but when compared to others in Oia I suppose its is reasonable. Very poor breakfast in terms of variety and quantity. Breakfast finished at 10am - too early! They continually ran out of breakfast items (eggs and greek yoghurt) and did not replace them. Pool furniture consisted of a few comfortable sun loungers and lots of hard plastic ones which would not tilt. We used some glasses for drinks and the cleaners did not clean or replace them - they left the dirty glasses in the room.
The staff and service at Perivolas was the best I have experienced. They were attentive but not obnoxious, thorough and helpful with everything from room service to setting up excursions, transportation, etc. They do not accept AMEX.
My experience at Perivolas was very enjoyable. It has such a relaxing atmosphere and the service and view are fantastic. You can do as much or as little as you want during your stay.
The service was the best we have had in the world and I have travel a fair bit. The are standard every hotel should want to copy. Very inspiring hotel Yeh I couldn't stay long enough. But that was there fault
very romantic no pool, thougt there was from the pictures
Everything was perfect! Location is excellent. It is on the main street of Oia but very quiet with a magnificent view. There is a private varanda you could enjoy the sunset with ease. Hotel stuffs are also very kind!
The room was large and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay the location was great for viewing the sunset. Walking up the mountain as you exit your room to go to the village is very exahusting must be physicaly fit.
very friendly staff and very helpful. the room was great and very clean
beautiful and cozy apartment! Clean room with kitchen，and sheets are almost brand-new.Location is convenient and quiet, to the cliff and main attractions in Oia just within 5 minutes on foot. The owner is nice and helpful, and personally sent us to the port.Strongly recommended!!!
Very peaceful, quiet location. Away from the hustle and bustle of central Oia but close enough to walk in easily. The sunbeds are a little hard! They would benefit from some soft covers.
Spacious room with an ocean view. Very private. Nice pool. Fridge and hotplate made it possible to eat some meals in the suite. Hornet problem in the pool area. Hotel appears very new so it lacks the warmth and atmosphere of landscaping around the pool and grounds. Fairly sterile.
The owner was very hospitable, he picked us up from the port, and sent us back to the port when we left santorini, recommended us some excellent restaurants in town, and basically made the stay very enjoyable. Pool was simple but kept very clean and you can catch a glimpse of the sunset in the evening (not a view of the caldera, but lovely nonetheless). Rooms were clean, toilets spacious enough with balconies overlooking the pool. Short walk away from the town centre at Oia (5-7 mins), car rental a 3 min walk away. Excellent value for money. Only downside is you have to stay more than one night, but honestly one night's hardly enough in santorini.
Costes the owner is a sweatheart. He answered all our questions and made sure our stay was pleasant. Great place to stay instead of villas in the main town. 5 min walk to Oia walking street. Nothing comes to mind....
great view over fields and the Agean Sea but not the caldera - easy walk into Oia and very quiet relative to most of Santorini.
It's a nice place to stay for a budget trip It's a little far from the town center (15-20 minutes walk)
Place very new, nice location, owner very friendly.
New building and pool. Generally good experience; I would go back. I believe it had just opened and is untested.
The owner, Kostas, is extremely welcoming and friendly. Tarif is very reasonable (includes pick-up from arrival boat or plane, and driving back there), located near the best village in the island. There is a kitchenette; ideal for people who want to stay one week as a couple, or with friends or family in several studios. Very calm.
