O Japão permite a entrada de estrangeiros que precisam se mudar para o Japão para estudar, trabalhar ou se juntar à família, sujeito aos requisitos de visto necessários. Também é permitida a entrada de estrangeiros em visita de negócios a curto prazo, desde que tenham visto. No entanto, o número de pessoas permitidas para entrar no Japão de acordo com essas regras será restrito, com prioridade para aqueles que se mudam para o Japão.

Residentes do Japão com status de “Residente Permanente”, “Cônjuge ou Filho de Cidadão Japonês”, “Cônjuge ou Filho de Residente Permanente” ou “Residente de Longo Prazo” que partiram do Japão com Permissão de Reentrada até 2 de abril de 2020 podem voltar a entrar no país, mesmo que tenham estado em um dos países acima. A partir de 1º de setembro, esses viajantes também precisarão se inscrever na embaixada ou consulado japonês mais próximo para receber uma “Carta de confirmação de reentrada” e podem precisar fornecer um resultado de teste PCR na chegada. Cidadãos da China com passaportes emitidos na província de Hubei ou na província de Zhejiang não podem entrar no país, a menos que possam provar que não estiveram nessas províncias nos últimos 14 dias.
Os viajantes que estavam no navio de cruzeiro ‘Westerdam’ não podem entrar no país, a menos que sejam cidadãos japoneses.
Cidadãos japoneses, seus cônjuges e filhos que possam apresentar prova, viajantes com Autorizações de Residência Permanente Especial com autorizações de reentrada de um oficial de imigração regional e militares dos EUA ainda podem entrar no país.
Os viajantes e tripulantes de companhias aéreas que estiveram em qualquer um dos países listados até agora nos últimos 14 dias devem enviar um questionário de quarentena e passar por um teste PCR na chegada.
Regras especiais se aplicam a tripulantes de companhias aéreas que entram no Japão. Os membros da tripulação devem enviar questionários de quarentena e declarações de “Plano de estadia no Japão”. As tripulações devem seguir as instruções fornecidas no documento de quarentena "Aviso: Para tripulações embarcando em veículos de áreas sujeitas a quarentena reforçada." As companhias aéreas devem providenciar veículos fretados (em oposição ao transporte público) para transportar as tripulações entre o aeroporto e o hotel, e garantir que as tripulações cumpram as outras regras durante sua estada no Japão.

Requisitos de entrada

O certificado deve ser em inglês e o teste deve ter sido feito no máximo 72 horas antes da partida e o método de coleta de amostra deve ser 'swab nasofaríngeo' ou 'saliva'. Requisitos de quarentena
Os viajantes japoneses e residentes que chegam do Reino Unido ou da África do Sul estão sujeitos a um auto-isolamento de 3 dias em um local designado pelo chefe da estação de quarentena. No terceiro dia, eles devem fazer o teste COVID-19 novamente. Se o teste for negativo, eles poderão continuar com o auto-isolamento de 14 dias conforme estabelecido abaixo. Além disso, eles devem se comprometer a manter as informações de localização e instalar um aplicativo de confirmação de contato COVID-19 (COCOA) ao entrar no Japão. Todos os viajantes que entram no Japão, incluindo cidadãos japoneses, residentes e cidadãos com dupla nacionalidade, devem fazer um teste PCR no aeroporto e se isolar por 14 dias em um local designado (como um hotel ou residência própria). They told me the flight will wait for us because there were 20 plus people also need to get on that plane. When the time of boarding we heard they were calling us to the front and explained the flight we were suppose to be connecting already took off. They had to booked us to another airline. We were extremely disappointed! We asked if we could took another Japanese airline but they said our luggages were already transferred to that airline and the tickets were printed! Mosf importantly we have already waited in airport 5 hours and they needed us to wait for another 3 hours! Very bad experience with how they dealing with this situation!"

I used to every time get excited to fly with Thai. this time i had two Thai connections between Tokyo - Bankgkok and Bangkok-Delhi, both times my two young minor children were automatically seated away from me and each other also during checkin process. it took a lot of time and convincing the agent to get my own children seated with me on long international flights! Food service was worse than expect for name of Thai airways!"

Prós: "My 96-yr-old father was given an airport wheelchair after we checked his own transport chair. He was wheeled through security and to the departure gate. We were advised they changed us to a bulkhead row w/an unoccupied seat adjacent to his. Twice during the flight one of the flight attendants came to tell him that she would help him off the plane so to wait for her after the rest of the passengers disembarked. The meal was very tasty.Chicken karaage was not crispy but I wouldn't expect it to be. The rest of the items were well seasoned with the right consistency. Dessert was a flan custard with passion fruit sauce (very Hawaii!), even including a few seeds from the fruit as garnish."

Absolutely brilliant and so sweet to receive such a from-the-heart gift. Thanks to the wonderful staff on the March 31st 2016 flight. We were truly blown away and so grateful for the wonderful service and welcome."

Prós: "It is so far a cut above the American carriers. There’s no way to compare them, because Qatar Airways is so far superior. The seats are far more comfortable and larger, the amount of legroom is far superior, you have much more personal space, and the craft is cleaner. Flight Attendants are fantastic! They provide excellent personal care, and are there for everything. They are supremely polite and courteous, and bring things in mediately. Very often anticipating your needs. This is what flying used to be like on United and American. But those people have completely forgotten what service is. Qatar is a 5 star airline. United and American, to my view, are 2 star at best."

Contras: "The flight from Sao Paulo to Doha was canceled which delayed our travel by 24 hrs. With the baggage being mis-labeled from Rio we almost lost our bags. the crew was not communicative and the entire experience terribly stressful."
Contras: "The flight crew had no control over the passengers on this flight! Kids running around when the seat belt sign on, called fro assistance TWICE and no one came to my seat and I held my trash for a whole hour and not ONE person stopped by to get it from me!"

Prós: "I liked the organized boarding prosecution, everyone was seated by the boarding zone so there were no mess and no fight over who gets to go first in the plane. the food was good too, again vegetarian options and very good quality. I"
