The bathroom was nice with shower and tub. The indoor pool and Hot Tub were great for relaxing after visiting the sites. There was $25 per room charge for use of the pool/hot tub but this was small price to pay for this feature. Aggressive panhandlers all over the city.
The room was smaller than what I'm used to, but very comfortable. The bed was plush, with high-quality bedding. Good shower and toiletries, fast elevators, comfortable lobby The walls are quite thin, and because the toilets are vacuum toilets, they are louder than average toilets, and you can hear everyone flushing. The bathroom door is also a stylish (but not noise-blocking) glass barn door, so if you are sharing the room with someone, they will hear everything that is happening in the bathroom. There is a $25 fee to use the gym and pool, which I was not aware of when I booked the room.

The bed was comfortable, the cleaning girl was very nice and helpful. The hotel was much overpriced to begin with and as we checked in, we were encouraged to upgrade for an extra $70 per night for something that didn't seem like an upgrade. The room itself was not luxurious by any means. We felt that it could get away with anything because it was right downtown. The long lines for both check in and the "continental breakfast" were not convenient.

My room was quite dirty, the toilet seat had something nasty in it, the table had years of dust,crumbs and scum under it. Our sheets had holes in them. Overall was very nice, most people were obviously there on business so I felt out of place not In a suit .

The hotel was clean and upgraded. The A/C in my room was broken and it took about 3 hours for someone to come in and fix it. The room was stuffy and hot. We left to go get a bite to eat and returned to find out that they had not fixed it nor were we getting another room. Just off of the staff interaction I most likely would not return.
I loved the coffee shop/store on the lobby level. Being able to purchase cold drinks and snacks, and even fresh sandwiches or pizza was a great surprise. The coffee was excellent in the morning. I landed, completely sleep deprived, at what my body thought was 1am. Maybe that's why I had such an adverse reaction to a very lively bar whose sounds echoed through the entire lobby. In fact, it seemed to take up the entire lobby as it spilled into seating that i had to walk through to get to registration. I could hardly hear the staff member trying to check me in.
Clean, decent amenities. Staff was friendly Arrived early before check in. Said I would get a text when room was ready. 3 hrs later I walk up to desk and my room had been ready for over 2 hrs. When I asked about my text they just said "sorry about that". I kinda thought it was a weak response. Then I get a text asking for feedback so far and I relay the check in issue and the horrible pillows we had and again I just get "sorry" with out any offer to make it better.
The rooms are very small, the water pressure in the shower was extremely low it took me 30 minutes to take a normal shower when usually it takes me 10 minutes. It is very unusual to when the room dose not have a lock on the door I find that out after walking in to the restroom and embarrassing myself in front of my coworker room has two beds that means there is more than one person sleeping in your room that one person doesn't have to be a family member this case you was my coworker

Five minutes upon entering our room , there was another couple who entered. Apparently , the front desk assigned the same room and key card to different guests. After 15 minutes a guard came , checked the situation and assured me that everything was taken cared off. We went out to have dinner but when we came back we couldn't enter our room . Location Air temperature is controlled by the front desk. You will need to call them to adjust (really, are we in the 1970s???)-unbelievable). The air condition smelled like mildew and gave me a headache the following day. My roommate kept coughing the whole night which we suspect was due to the mildew coming out of the A/C vent. Bathroom floor was not cleaned. Found gross hair (and other too gross to mention) on the floor. Corners underneath the sink have dust balls. the bathroom toilet plastic seat was burned that it looked like you poured acid on it. I cannot believe they have not replaced it. The electric plug in the bathroom is not secured and about to fall off, the hair dryer would not turn on because of the faulty plug. (Again, really????) So disappointing as when I think of Hilton, I think safe, clean and decent...not the SF union square. Front desk was very unfriendly. No welcome or "enjoy your stay" greeting. He couldn't find our reservation. When I showed him the confirmation number, he gave me the look and said "oh that's hotel.com's"...whatever that meant. As if he was treating us 3rd class as we had not booked it directly with them. After a few minutes, he finally found our reservation. Again, very unpleasant.

Friendly accommodating staff. Great location, beautiful facility. The observatory level was cool, but packed, so much so we didn't stay to enjoy the view. I would recommend to a friend. Disappointed that I reserved a room with a larger bed and due to room availability we were moved to a double, which my wife and I were unable to share. We're by no means large people. It would have been nice to be able to park or rental without being charged extra, but that seems to be a norm in the city.
The room was clean, the bed was amazing, location was walking distance to all things downtown, I felt safe with my young son, easy express checkout. No room service, for the money we spent I would've liked to see a free breakfast, the cost of parking is insane (it is SF though), no pool.
They tried to steal my luggage when I first came in, took them over 4 hours to bring my stuff up. I said enough of this bs and went to go down myself and get all my stuff to find it hiding in a room away from everyone else while the guy at the front was telling me "it'll be there shortly were a little backed up". Then to top it all off I find $35 of charges from the hotel of stuff I never used. I've never been so disrespected by a hotel in my life. Shady workers I highly recommend you don't stay here.
Really nice lobby, rooms where clean The wifi wasn't free, they charged you to use a computer for $.40 per minute. I really needed a workstation. No hot tube or pool for $400 per night. Will not go back.

The hotel has lost its luster...beds were uncomfortable....toilet leaked....no water in rooms....grubby panhandler approached us while we sat at lobby coffee bar....not surprising since every time we went out the front door the doormen were either talking or texting n cell phones off to the side...I gave stayed there on and off for over 20 years...it's a shame but I will likely stay elsewhere going forward

My room's window faced a brick wall and got absolutely no sunlight. I felt like we were in a dungeon. I couldn't tell what time of day it was, kind of like that feeling you get when you are in a Vegas Casino. We didn't get in until after midnight when we arrived, so I was more interested in getting some sleep than complaining. But I was really disappointed.

Proximity to Union Square Rooms / noise. You can hear your neighbors' every word, toilets, etc. The doors slam shut SO very hard, that they will jar you from the heaviest sleep. Lots of late night parties on the 11th floor.
The location is a big draw and it is a known entity in San Francisco. It met expectations. We stayed in the Tower. The room was big and the furnishings adequate, but not what I expected from a hotel of this caliber. Somewhat dated. Also, hallways are dark and below what one would expect from a hotel like this. I could've paid $100 more and stayed at the Fairmont, and it would've been worth it!
Check In was great. Very nice staff. Rewarded us for returning for a third time in two years by giving us (2) complimentary drink coupons. Valet was $58/night + Tax. Took over 30 mins to get car out of lot when checking out. Mini bar in room was half empty and had empty bottles, a milkshake cup and food wrappers inside.
Left a sweater called back immediately got security said nothing turned in, called back twice no luck. Guess it got up and walked away. Not buying it. Tough luck right
Loved the location and hotel's history. When I checked in, room they assigned me to wasn't serviced. Called the front desk multiple times and had to wait 30 plus minutes before waiving down a manger to help me. Then proceeded to wait another 29 min to find a room that was cleaned.

Good location, Comfortable bed, Nice bathrooms. Easy to walk to local "tourist spots" I booked a 2 double bed room for my friend and i. And paid in full up front. non refundable. What i got was 1 king size bed. (Resulting in an awkward situation for my friend and i) I guess they arent sure how to hold a reservation? (After booking i was sent an email stating this could happen) but i still dont understand how i can request what i need, and pay in full. And be given something completly different... There is no parking at all. You can either park on the street and baby a meter, or you can pay valet 60$ a night plus 40% tax. (I was not made aware of this until the i was sitting in the valet) Just be prepared to pay alot more than what you agreed to before you show up. (Maybe this isnt a big deal for most, but i didnt feel like it was a good way to conduct business, and treat your guests)

The staff was so nice and the location was perfect. Next to Bart station, cable cars, light rail, and restaurants. Breakfast was expensive but good.
Friendly staff, quick check in, great valet ($55/night + tips) , comfy beds and pillows, 50" LG tv. Microwaves and refrigerators are an additional cost . But is recommended if you are traveling and are bringing left overs back for a couple days . The views aren't too great and it's a little more noisy outside unless you pay more for a higher floor .

Great location! Clean and modern room. Mattress was comfortable and the view was great! The elevators were very efficient too. The "hot" breakfast bar that was included was just pastries, fruit, heat n' serve cups of oatmeal, yogart, coffee and juice. When they said "hot" I think of eggs, breakfast meats and toast or pancakes. They should not reference their breakfast bar as a "hot" breakfast bar. The staff gave us the wrong directions a few times, just save your breath and time and just google it!

The staff and location were both excellent, the bar is also fun (and the reason I knew about the hotel to begin with). There sure are a lot of interesting chairs around! Room service was prompt and the food was tasty. The bed is comfortable and the rooms have pretty good noise control. The rooms are in dire need of updating. We stayed in a studio so the size was good, but things just seemed old. The walls needed touch up paint, the bathtub was peeling (about a 10'' section was missing plaster), the grout was stained, the hair dryer must be from 1985, the thermostat is old making it hard to control room temperature, the faucet was probably really awesome 20 years ago, but now it is difficult to get it in the "off" position, not good in a state experiencing a drought.
Superb location right in the heart of San Francisco's Union Square area, excellent restaurants and shopping nearby. Beautifully decorated room that was quiet and serene. Standard room king was quite small. No room for more than a couple.
The room and hallways where dark, the bathrooms are in bad shape (old and rusty), the tv was small and didn't have on demand. It used to be THE PLACE TO STAY in SF... Not anymore...needs a remodel urgently.
The location was very convienent. I chose to park down the street and save $30 for over night parking. Nice pillows and comfy bed. This hotel is really small the room was giving me an allegric reactions I could not breath, until we forced the window open. The shower curtain and shower smelled really bad. That was gross. I will not be staying here again.

The bed was very comfortable. The room was dark with the curtains pulled closed. I stayed at the Clift this past weekend with my wife for a "staycation" away from the Oakland grind we call our normal lives. A few concerns with the Clift Hotel. When we arrived we were unsure about how the valet worked since there are no signs or "red jackets" (they wear black). We had to circle the block and call to find out what the deal was. It's also expensive, $52+ tax per night. Once we were in the Hotel we were told that our room wasn't ready, which was completely fine since we arrived 3 hours prior to check in time. We happily checked our bag and went for a stroll around union square. The problem is that the woman at the counter said we should expect a phone call with in the hour when our room was ready. We waited the hour and then another hour. No call. We then returned to the Hotel at 3pm and were told by the same women that it "should be ready within the hour."This would take us up to check in time...Finally at 4pm we complained and a manager upgraded us to a Jr. Suite and promptly gave us the keys. Sales Training: under promise and over deliver, not the other way around. Finally we arrive in our room and its pretty nice. It was on the 15th floor and the view was pretty urban SF high life. We were happy. The tub and painted surfaces were chipping and sup par. apparently this room costs $450+ per night, If I paid that I expect a little more attention to detail and quality. We dined at the Velvet Room, the Hotel's restaurant. We were offered a cold and breezy table next to the hallway leading to the bar but were happily seated in a lovely booth when we requested that. Dinner was delicious. The Redwood Room, their high shelf bar, is always crowded and all seating is reserved for $350+ bottle service. The common areas are nice, warm, and cozy. The room is three star. The overall experience is ok, we'll try another place next month and report back.

Great vibe in the hotel bar. Room service was slow, found a hair in my food, ordered a Coke three times and never got it, was provided with only a comforter and fitted sheet on my bed, food wasn't very good.
Very friendly staff, great service. The access to Equinox is fabulous! Prime, prime location--the best!! In-room dining is awful. I had breakfast twice, and was severely disappointed at the outrageous price for the poor, poor quality of every aspect of the food--coffee is burnt and thick like mud, toast burnt, side vegetables unbelievably expensive with NO quality. The fresh orange juice is good. And that's it. Otherwise, the hotel is just wonderful.
Nice rooms. Polite staff. Nice bathrooms. Everything worked without an issue. At Reservation, called the 800 number. I was told they only had two suites available. No rooms. Two minutes later, I went on Kayak and booked two rooms with no issue. Service was in no way exceptional. It was a little irritating that bell desk couldn't get cab. Food/bar is terrible Surcharge for internet access is ludicrous

I hosted a bachelorette party at the Intercontinental and it was great!! The staff was very accommodating and helped us with making sure all the girls were taken care of. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, and the hotel was extremely spacious. There was a "bouncer" type employee at night who gave me and the girls staying at the hotel a hard time. He required every girl to have a key in their hand to get in, even though we just had one person per room have a key because we didn't think it was necessary. He was extremely rude and borderline harassing.

I liked how the staff was really attentive. Rooms clean, everyine real proffesional. I didnt like the fact that when u drive in to check in they dont tell u that the charge for parking is 65$ . Also that the water thats in the room thats bottled i didnt know they would charge me 8:50$ for it. Ridiculous! I seen when i checkd out!

Loved the boutique vibe that the hotel has, it seems SF is lacking modern hotels that are similar to the Ace and plentiful of tacky hotels. The decor is very minimal, with concrete floors- it feels similar to a loft you would want to live in. The restaurant downstairs had a really great brunch and the staff were very friendly. The actual location is pretty central, so it's not that difficult to leave the touristy area of Union Square. There wasn't a mention of the $45 (plus tax) for the valet. So that got a bit expensive. You also have to call 30 minutes ahead. The shower is also a lukewarm temperature. And a bit difficult to work with it being stuck.
Use the jaccuzzi, would have used the restaurant but it was too pricey. The people there seemed a bit stuffy, including the staff. When I asked a question it was like I was putting them out.
This hotel is well-located -- easy to walk to Union Square and Chinatown, walkable to the waterfront/Embarcadero, and a quick drive to the Mission, Golden Gate Park, etc. The staff could not be more pleasant and helpful. The lobby area is a nice place to lounge, and the rooms are comfortable. It would be really helpful to have coffee makers in the room or room service -- there is coffee in the lobby, but if you are traveling with kids or have an early morning, it is useful to have it in your room. I didn't care for the fact that the water bottles in the room had price tags. It would also be nice if the wine service rotated wines.
The staff really was fantastic and pretty much bent over backwards to accomodate us in almost anyway possible. Plus I learned after the fact they are really pet friendly. Thats good to remember for the future. When I booked through booking.com the description said that the room I was booking would have a jacuzzi tub. I was going on a romantic get away and booked this room for this price becaue I thought it would have a jacuzzi tub. The room was beautiful, but no jacuzzi tub and the bathroom was a bit small at that.

Hotel Monaco used to be one of my fav hotels in SF. This new Marker is horrible. They closed the spa, breakfast is extra charge. Parking costs 58 dollars. Short on staff to take phone calls. Take your business somewhere else.

The decor was cute, and the room cleanliness we immaculate. Hotel rooms in San Francisco are pretty small, and this is no exception. However, the reception area was luxurious and beautiful, perfect during their evening wine receptions. I could go on about the wonderful staff- really, all of them acted like they were my friends, excited to tell me all about the good shopping, eating, et nearby that I HAD to try ; ) They were right too!

It nicely located near Union Square. The staff were very helpful. The hotel was clean and well kept. Our room was very nice except no view but that was ok. The hotel has complementary bikes for guest to use (great way to get around the city). Very comfortable place to stay. Would stay there again.
Great hotel - feels very luxurious, good staff, and complementary wine hour! Highly recommended. Our second visit and we'll definitely stay there again when in SF. Rooms could be larger. Area - although only a couple of blocks from Union Square - gets more edgy late at night, but that's how San Francisco works.
The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and the rooms style was not bad. The hotel is close to union square and great area to walk around. The decor pillows on our bed were dirty. My bathroom shower towel was only changed once during my four night stay. I found the restaurant prices high and the waiters were not so nice.

Close to everything in Union Square, clean and nice-looking inside. ...but that translates to a little over $300 a night, which isn't really worth it. Avoid it during the conventions in town.
The location of the hotel was excellent. There were many nice dining, shopping and entertainment options very close by. It is also very close to a BART station so getting there from the airport is very easy. San Francisco is a surprisingly easy city to drive in as well, though parking is very expensive. Though the bed was very comfortable, it was a bit squeaky. Also, being on Market street means that there is a bit of noise but it's not excessive.
The service at the San Francisco Palomar was excellent. The front desk staff and doormen deserve top marks. They were helpful in every circumstance from procuring a taxi to giving directions or making suggestions regarding nearby attractions and walking distances. The hotel was clean, the restaurant was superb....fantastic breakfast! And the wait staff was superior. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and look forward to that happening in the near future. Hats off to the Palomar staff!!!!!!!
The location was great and my room was quiet. There was a bit of mildew odor in the bathroom. If not for that I would have given an excellent rating, instead of good, for my stay.

The Palomar is in a great location, the staff is very friendly, and the rooms are nicely decorated. Beds are OK. Restaurant (Bad Habit?) onsite had a nice quality breakfast which was pretty reasonable.
Good arrival and wait staff were both friendly and efficient. The door man was great and the team inside were extremely helpful. I have stayed in other SF hotels in the past and Hotel Zelos is a nice addition to the city. City hotel rooms can sometimes be small but the rooms at Zelos are very spacious! I also would like to say thank you for an overall smooth and fun experience! From booking on line with Kayak to speaking directly with the hotel, to checking in & out, everyone was super friendly and consistently would go out of their way to be helpful. Mixed message on parking After speaking with associates on two separate occasions. Then the confusion in the garage, mind you I thought I lost my ticket to return however I unpacked it when I arrived back home this evening. There was a problem between the hand written sign in log from the valet and the printed report from the front desk and the hotel's portion of valet claim check system also did not work. I retrieved my vehicle because I brought the only two matching keys and I have matching handmade key chains attached. Breakfast table with two nice chairs rather than a rolling office chair. That was weird. But it was also SF PRIDE weekend so who cares!

The Palomar was clean, quiet and comfortable and in a great location. The woman working in the evening checking in guests needs more training. Either that or maybe she was having a bad night.

Pillows were comfortable and thats about it. I travel often and ive never had such a tiny room, bathrooms were ridiculously small., literally had to be on top of the toilet to close the door. The hallways including the rooms smelled like a public restroom. Not amenities whats so ever. Surrounded by the homeless as soon as you walk outdoors. And the view of a cement wall was just amazing as well. I have had better accomodations at a Motel 6. Never again will i spend money at a Warwick Hotel. Next night i stayed at the Holiday Inn for the same price and had an amazing view of the city, bigger rooms, free wifi and just a bigger overall hotel.

Nice hotel, nice staff but small enough to feel more boutique. Room are indeed small and their is a distinct smell, like a musky smell around the entire hotel including the rooms. It's a smell you can get used to and ignore but off putting to begin with. Smells of damp, dusty air.

Excellent location,Walgreens and liquor store just across the street, about a 4 block walk from the Bart station. Union square is even closer., very clean, food was great, above par cup of Coffee, helpful and engaging staff. Good bang for the buck One of the 2 elevators was broken the duration of the stay
location...not much more free wifi no gym. They partner with an off site gym but they charge $15/day/person. rooms are tiny; so are the beds.bathroom are extremely uncomfortable. i hate to say it, but it was not worth the money.
Close to union square. Although the hotel stamp can help you save some parking fee, the parking fee is still high. The room smells not good. It obviously has the smell of old house.

The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. My girlfriend & I received a text message from the hotel upon arriving at SFO requesting what type of room we'd like. Upon arrival, we were able to check in hours early and were given a room fitting our request. Though the view wasn't anything to speak of, it absolutely inspired us to not get cabin fever. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom immaculate, both the heat and a/c worked famously and overall - our stay was great! The Warwick is close to the Financial District, Union Square and provides phenomenal bang for the buck!!
Very nice gym w/ 2 treadmills, 2 elliptical machines with lcd screens, and one cycle. Good selection of free weight dumbbells. Great machine weight with a variety of exercises. Towels, fruit and even sparkling water. A good touch was the disposable headphones. Also has a nice game room; ping pong, big wooden jenga blocks, shuffle board, pool table. Location is great, very trendy art and generally polite staff. I asked for a quite room on the inside. I was assigned a very loud room which did not have dual pane windows and was woken at about 5am to what sounded like loud trash trucks. My sheets were not changed from a previous guests' stay. I found long strands of hairs under the covers as well as short pubic hair through out the bed sheets. Since it was already 4 am, I was too tired to deal with it, so I slept on top of the covers with a thin blanket from the closet. I was pretty disgusted. I was in a rush the next morning to get to Moscone Center, but did inform the front desk. They sent housekeeping to change the sheets and left me a note w/ water and a chocolate bar. I also realized that I was missing a bathroom vanity rug on my first night. The hotel room is very small with hardwood floors through out and an old rug around the bed. On the last day of my 2 night stay I had a pretty bad incident in the bathroom with a shattered glass pendant light shade. The bathroom ceiling drops down and I could touch the ceiling by simply raising my arms (I'm 6ft tall). The designer decide to hang a ceiling pendant light despite the low ceiling with a glass shade. While drying myself after a shower, when I raised my arms, my hands hit the glass shade leaving me showered with shattered glass! This is quite dangerous and I'm lucky I didn't get cut badly, only a nick on my right knuckle. I don't think management handled the situation very well. I generally just found issues with the cleanliness of the hotel; dust around the night stands and the closest, unchanged sheets, noisy rooms. I would not recommend this hotel unless they get their act together.
Website Reservation 11 months ago and fully paid for room. They cancelled two days before saying they were overbooked But still had rooms for sale at much higher price Don't trust this hotel. Second time they cancelled but won't happen again

- Great staff, very friendly & helpful!! - Perfect setting for a weekend getaway in SF. - Our Room: We had the Jr Suite. It was a good size, very trendy. It was great for our bachelorette party. The room came with a JamBox, which was very much appreciated since I forgot to pack mine! - Location was good for our use. The hotel is 1 block from the BART so it's easy to get around from there. - Couch bed wasn't terribly comfortable, but when has there ever been a comfortable couch bed... I was fine trading that for the larger room. I was told that the king bed was great!

Excellent location right next to muni/bart powell station and the cable car. room was nice, well equipped, pretty modern, nice bathroom, clean. Staff was good. Only negatives: the street noise is loud. I needed to wear earplugs. it was fine with earplugs which the front desk provided. the "included breakfast" is not breakfast. it is coffee (decent) and doughnuts. That's it. however, there is a nice little cafe at the front of the hotel that had very good breakfast bagel sandwiches.
There should be free English tea made available in addition to coffee in the morning and it will be good if this free tea & coffee can start at 6am instead of 6:30am and goes on till 11am instead of 10:30am. This extra small gesture will make a difference to many of your staying guests like myself. Lastly be punctual I walked down to M floor dead on time 6:30am on 5th Aug and it wasn't even ready until I asked twice the reception desk why no coffee yet then something was done Stephen NGAI
The only positive thing is the location. And that's it. The photos are completely misleading. This is an awful hotel and I was booked for 7 nights. I reduced that to 1 night. The rooms are small and shabby. It's old with old furniture and does not at all feel like a hotel. It's more like a good hostel. Don't stay here. Unless you like staying in hostels on a vacation.

Location was good. Pet friendly for our 3 lb dog Building architecture and décor was cool. Stinky. Rooms are wayyy smaller than what appears in online pictures. Our luggage almost didn't fit into the room with us. Cable TV went out and back on about once per minute. Breakfast was a donut or croissant and coffee or juice. Would not stay here again.
I like the location near convention center and shopping. I even like the hubbub noise of the street and cable car. The housekeeping staff is honest and courteous, making sure I found my wallet and such. Of course, being in party central for the World Series Parade was a hoot! Roaches in the narrow dark closet was a rough surprise. Worse was the twin beds, like 1950's Lucy and Arnez. I don't know how I wound up with twin rather than queen. Prepaid meant no adjustment by the desk.

Location is the best thing about this hotel. That is, if you're a tourist. Old. Rooms aren't that clean. Views are terrible. No amenities. Windows didn't open. Floors creak everywhere. Loud. Ridiculously expensive.
Location is excellent...right next to the Market Street Bart stop and Powell Street trolley... Very noisy hotel...virtually no sound proofing...hard to sleep...
We like the location is super close to to everything....Cable car, shops, restaurants/bars. A little loud on the second floor, but manageable.

Close to Union Square, tons of great shops and restaurants. HIDDEN FEES! Parking is $75/day ($36/day just down the street), they tried to charge me all kinds of "convience fees" at check out with out telling me. If you pay on here, make sure to check your credit card. Our room was on the Powell Street and the windows did not block out any sounds. Car horns, yelling, music, etc. all night. The "curtains" did not close, and the wooden blinds let in plenty of light.
There were young teenage boys partying in the room next to mine until 3am, so I was unable to sleep until 3am. I called the front desk to complain around 11pm but the problem was not fixed. I would expect a hotel at this price point to have better sound proofing or better management.
The location and decor in the lobby. Small rooms, over priced.
Majority of the luxuries were fine except for several key items were a complete failure. The heating system is archaic, loud and blew cold air. Front desk came but was not able to resolve the issue and their engineer was off that evening. It was a major problem because it was in the dead of winter and slept in the room in 30°F temperature or so. We survived the evening with four layers of blankets. Secondly the toilet cover was broken. And lastly the coffee pot machine wasn't working properly.
The location is great- right by Powell Street BART, Muni, and Cable Car. In the heart of Union Square, pretty touristy but tons of options close by. The rooms weren't too small, they were clean and comfortable. For less street noise ask for an interior room. The staff was friendly and there is a Restaraunt and cafe right in the lobby (we only had pastry at the cafe.) For a mid range hotel centrally located the Villa Florence is a good choice. The television needed to be reset and Powell street is very busy.
Great location in the heart of Union Square. Easy access to the cable cars. Nice coffee/pastry bar in lobby. Newly remodeled rooms were comfortable and good looking. Valet is EXCRUCIATINGLY slow. We waited over 40 minutes to get our car. Apparently the bell boy is the valet too. We found our newly renovated room had a shower that didn't drain. When we called, we were told they would have to move us because the was no maintenance guy on site. Moved to a different room; no view but working shower. The next morning at check out we found out someone was in our room late (past 11pm) working on the shower. Not great for the in-laws who were stuck in the room next to our old room. Paper thin walls. Very disturbing.
The staff was friendly, room was clean and quiet (we asked for a quiet room) and location can't be beat. We will be staying at Villa Florence again! The only issue was that the a/c unit seemed a little undersized, but just barely for the time we were there. We didn't need it the second night. For any facilities guys reading this... The air flow from the unit seems to be restricted quite a bit from the cover that "protects" the unit inside the room. Based on the design its probably loosing up to 50% of its air flow. You might consider cutting out the area in front of the vents. Yeah, I know, I'm a mechanical nerd, but we had a nice stay. 8-)
