Beautiful interior design Expensive vehicle stay rate. Small room
The bathroom was nice with shower and tub. The indoor pool and Hot Tub were great for relaxing after visiting the sites. There was $25 per room charge for use of the pool/hot tub but this was small price to pay for this feature. Aggressive panhandlers all over the city.
Concierge was very helpful in arranging airport transport, provided multiple comformations. Staff was very friendly and polite.
Excellent location Good pillows, bed & linens I had a queen room, very small No remote control for the TV Long, long checkin/check out process. Gym in not complimentary
Location Fees for Internet and gym. Additional fees for more than two adults.
location fees for everything including gym and even moving anything in the mini bar. grout in shower old and stained, toilet off center and wiggled.
I found the staff very friendly and accommodating. I would easily recommend the hotel to others.
Great reception staff, personable, professional and friendly. Perfect location accessible to shops and restaurants!
I was very happy with the hotel, location in the city, the service & the staff. I couldn't stay longer.
They charge you extra for the health club, which is not that great - I found that to be offensive!
Great stay at the Hotel Nikko, definitely pay $25 for access to the pool and spa.
The room was quite nice. The staff was very curteous and helpful. The location is convienent. The price was reasonable. The pool was only available as part of the health club which annoyed me.
The lobby and concierge were nice The tub water was not flowing, full of hair stuck in the drain! Not cool to call maintained guy for trying to take a shower after a long day, guy gave us attitude for the call and ended up cleaning it almost at midnight. Overpriced parking for one night stay, almost $60!!!
Five minutes upon entering our room , there was another couple who entered. Apparently , the front desk assigned the same room and key card to different guests. After 15 minutes a guard came , checked the situation and assured me that everything was taken cared off. We went out to have dinner but when we came back we couldn't enter our room . I checked with the front desk and said the key card was de activated. We were never informed of such
The funnels of it all great people great staff and an all around great time with everything that was offered to me that's all
The room was clean and modern and quiet The A.C. Barely worked the room was at 75 when we walked in and barely goth to 69 by 3am. The bathroom doors didn't close all the way and the lock didn't work, no vent fan.
Staff was friendly Room was not that clean. Starbucks in lobby closed to soon. Had to hike to tower 3 to get to pool, not worth it. Do not stay in any rooms overlooking the parking garage. Seems like that's where the party's are. It was so loud. People screaming from the street. Hopefully I will not have to stay here again for work.
Location Air temperature is controlled by the front desk. You will need to call them to adjust (really, are we in the 1970s???)-unbelievable). The air condition smelled like mildew and gave me a headache the following day. My roommate kept coughing the whole night which we suspect was due to the mildew coming out of the A/C vent. Bathroom floor was not cleaned. Found gross hair (and other too gross to mention) on the floor. Corners underneath the sink have dust balls. the bathroom toilet plastic seat was burned that it looked like you poured acid on it. I cannot believe they have not replaced it. The electric plug in the bathroom is not secured and about to fall off, the hair dryer would not turn on because of the faulty plug. (Again, really????) So disappointing as when I think of Hilton, I think safe, clean and decent...not the SF union square. Front desk was very unfriendly. No welcome or "enjoy your stay" greeting. He couldn't find our reservation. When I showed him the confirmation number, he gave me the look and said "oh that's hotel.com's"...whatever that meant. As if he was treating us 3rd class as we had not booked it directly with them. After a few minutes, he finally found our reservation. Again, very unpleasant.
The hotel was clean and upgraded. The A/C in my room was broken and it took about 3 hours for someone to come in and fix it. The room was stuffy and hot. We left to go get a bite to eat and returned to find out that they had not fixed it nor were we getting another room. Just off of the staff interaction I most likely would not return.
Location Old room, not very clean, no fridge or frigobar in the room, old carpet, smell old
My room was quite dirty, the toilet seat had something nasty in it, the table had years of dust, crumbs and scum under it. Our sheets had holes in them. Overall was very nice, most people were obviously there on business so I felt out of place not In a suit .
The bed was comfortable, the cleaning girl was very nice and helpful. The hotel was much overpriced to begin with and as we checked in, we were encouraged to upgrade for an extra $70 per night for something that didn't seem like an upgrade. The room itself was not luxurious by any means. We felt that it could get away with anything because it was right downtown. The long lines for both check in and the "continental breakfast" were not convenient.
Clean, decent amenities. Staff was friendly Arrived early before check in. Said I would get a text when room was ready. 3 hrs later I walk up to desk and my room had been ready for over 2 hrs. When I asked about my text they just said "sorry about that". I kinda thought it was a weak response. Then I get a text asking for feedback so far and I relay the check in issue and the horrible pillows we had and again I just get "sorry" with out any offer to make it better.
I loved the coffee shop/store on the lobby level. Being able to purchase cold drinks and snacks, and even fresh sandwiches or pizza was a great surprise. The coffee was excellent in the morning. I landed, completely sleep deprived, at what my body thought was 1am. Maybe that's why I had such an adverse reaction to a very lively bar whose sounds echoed through the entire lobby. In fact, it seemed to take up the entire lobby as it spilled into seating that i had to walk through to get to registration. I could hardly hear the staff member trying to check me in.
Great lobby, helpful staff No free internet in room
Inmaculate beautiful building with lots of history, great location, really enjoy the stay
Great location Customer service was great Amenities could be better Rooms and bathrooms are a bit small
The location is a big draw and it is a known entity in San Francisco. It met expectations. We stayed in the Tower. The room was big and the furnishings adequate, but not what I expected from a hotel of this caliber. Somewhat dated. Also, hallways are dark and below what one would expect from a hotel like this. I could've paid $100 more and stayed at the Fairmont, and it would've been worth it!
Proximity to Union Square Rooms / noise. You can hear your neighbors' every word, toilets, etc. The doors slam shut SO very hard, that they will jar you from the heaviest sleep. Lots of late night parties on the 11th floor.
Check In was great. Very nice staff. Rewarded us for returning for a third time in two years by giving us (2) complimentary drink coupons. Valet was $58/night + Tax. Took over 30 mins to get car out of lot when checking out. Mini bar in room was half empty and had empty bottles, a milkshake cup and food wrappers inside.
Wonderful location. Beautiful building Very busy hotel . Check in lines are long.
The location, helpful and friendly staff, nice size rooms N/a
Location is great, great service from staff Wifi is not included
Great location right downtown sf. Close to restaurants and bars, great front desk staff and cleaning staff Parking fees are outrageous, rude service desk, very small rooms, can hear every word from the other guests rooms
The hotel has lost its luster...beds were uncomfortable....toilet leaked....no water in rooms....grubby panhandler approached us while we sat at lobby coffee bar....not surprising since every time we went out the front door the doormen were either talking or texting n cell phones off to the side...I gave stayed there on and off for over 20 years...it's a shame but I will likely stay elsewhere going forward
The staff were very helpful and the location was perfect for getting around. Ask for a quiet room at the back as street noises can be annoying at the front, on Powell. I would definitely stay here again. Panhandlers are a problem around Uniion Square, but they were not aggressive, just sad.
Convenient location on Powell. Pretty much at the centre of everything. Staff were very responsive. "on-site" parking as advertised was maybe 2 blocks away !! and the 2 rooms I booked were to have city views - one definitely did not and the second one had very limited views
Walking distance to many sights. Too much furniture in small room. Strange smell in room and hall.
Great location, internet free with printer Rooms old fashion, a bit small, with old carpet
Staff pleasant. Able to check in early. Hotel located in union square. Please write at least 15 words
Nice rooms - reminded my wife and I of our stay in Italy. Great location and staff.
Location Based on 1 experience, we did not enjoy our dinning experience. Food was not well prepared. However, our server was cheerful and above average in service.
Poor internet connetion
smallest room ever experienced for a first class hotel and not worth the cost.
relaxed and family like environment. Very well designed and pretty lobby. Too narrow corridor and small room.
Very good service and location.
comfortable, friendly environment with staff and other guests Missed Maverick the dog...but it wasn't the hotel's fault, he was sick!
We enjoyed the proximity to the cable car line, the trolley line and Union Square.
Excellent, awarded restaurant. Great location. Did not like the location of the toilet door in the room - right next to the bed so you face it when you sleep.
Excellent location; free coffee and tea services in the morning; comfortable bed and towels.
Nice rooms - well designed, comfortable beds, good bath products, friendly staff. I liked that they were dog friendly, LGBT friendly, and had a daily run scheduled for guests. No in-room coffee and small gym where the TVs didn't all work.
Extremely helpful staff.
The location was very good in the heart of the Union Square and everything was walkable from it. It was a little overpriced for what it offered.
Though expensive, everything was top notch.
Very good hotel nice staying I will go agian and I will recommend for my friends No thing worth
I loved the view and staff was extremely friendly and the location great. Bed was very comfortable and and room was nice and clean. Mabye a lil upgrade on the appliances other than that it was great. I think for the resort fee it should have came with a little more amenities.
Location. Proximity to public transportation. Doors, fixtures show age, wear and tear. Facilities fee (which I assume were adjusted for SPG Platinum members)
Comfortable and clean. Good location No room service
You had to pay for WiFi and the restaurant had a very limited menu.
Location was nice for exploring the city. Room was clean/comfortable. NO INTERNET at this hotel... In the modern age, it's ridiculous that wifi/high speed internet is not included in the cost of the hotel when you purchase ahead of time. On top of that, I asked about wifi when I was checking in, and the lady told me we could get internet with an OPTIONAL ~$35 PER night fee, that included internet and other services like bike rentals. We didn't want to spend this, so it made sense that I couldn't connect to any wifi from my hotel room. When I checked out, they said they had charged us for the fee, and that it was required, despite the fact that we'd never connected to the internet. Outrageous that this wasn't just in the price of the hotel from the getgo... Don't bother with this place until they get with the modern age.
Poor accommodations. Rude staff.
We had a view even from the 9th floor. Very clean and cozy. Staff was really kind. No mini fridge :(
Great location. Nice staff. Bathroom too small. Drain didn't work well in tub. Sink drain wouldn't close. Toilet too close to door.
Great location Restaurant can be improved, i. e. choice & prices slightly too high
View was great, staff was very friendly, and room was very clean. $58 for over night parking is outrageous, because of that I will not stay here again. Also, $20 for wifi? For the price you're paying that should definitely be included. We had to ask twice for a crib to be sent up to the room, that was a little disappointing when I had two small children to get to bed upon arrival. Also would have been nice to have a mini fridge included in the room. When traveling with kids it's very convenient to have a fridge to store their milk, snacks, etc
The room they put us in was very small. There was no refrigerator, no microwave, nothing that would make the stay comfortable or say luxury. Plus the parking cost and facilities fees are ridiculously high.
View was amazing, bed was comfortable, showers were updated, halls were quiet (well insulated walls). Easy access to hotel and downtown destination. Great overall. It did not provide a mini fridge. We had to ask for one.
Hotel was clean We booked a room for two night with a king size bed upon arrival we were not told they didn't have a room for us instead sent us to a room with double beds wouldn't accommodate us claiming they had "no more rooms available "... next day had issues relocating our luggage to next room. Parking was absurd $70 dollars a night ?? Overrated
The room was clean, the bed was amazing, location was walking distance to all things downtown, I felt safe with my young son, easy express checkout. No room service, for the money we spent I would've liked to see a free breakfast, the cost of parking is insane (it is SF though), no pool.
Everything else was great Price for parking
Location is excellent. Big hotel where you get lost. Looks and feel old, needs a major renovation.
They tried to steal my luggage when I first came in, took them over 4 hours to bring my stuff up. I said enough of this bs and went to go down myself and get all my stuff to find it hiding in a room away from everyone else while the guy at the front was telling me "it'll be there shortly were a little backed up". Then to top it all off I find $35 of charges from the hotel of stuff I never used. I've never been so disrespected by a hotel in my life. Shady workers I highly recommend you don't stay here.
Great staff, beautiful hotel, good location
Great location great front desk people beautiful view Drink left in room from previous occupant
They were accommodating and nice
Really nice lobby, rooms where clean The wifi wasn't free, they charged you to use a computer for $.40 per minute. I really needed a workstation. No hot tube or pool for $400 per night. Will not go back.
Friendly accommodating staff. Great location, beautiful facility. The observatory level was cool, but packed, so much so we didn't stay to enjoy the view. I would recommend to a friend. Disappointed that I reserved a room with a larger bed and due to room availability we were moved to a double, which my wife and I were unable to share. We're by no means large people. It would have been nice to be able to park or rental without being charged extra, but that seems to be a norm in the city.
We enjoyed the Marriott Marquis hotel very much , but the valet only parking is a bit spends. Thank goodness there is another parking garage one block over. Y
Very clean my friendly atmosphere. Nothing
Quiet with access to the theater district, Union Square and fine dining Bathroom a little small
The hotel has lots of character, the lobby looks like the lobby of an old movie theater. The room also was furnished in period style, with a nice view. Very conveniently located near Market Street.
Lovely spacious rooms and bathrooms, detailed and comfortable, great, and I mean great coffee in the lobby for mornings. The kind of hotel where you seat in the lobby and watch activity and relax. Just wonderful experience. Close to union square and Powell and market shopping and activity. It was perfect really!
This used to be a Kimpton Hotel and still has the cool factor that Kimpton brings to all its properties. Sadly, maintenance has waned since the hotel was sold to an investment company.
Location - excellent, v close to Union Sq/restaurants etc; staff - friendly/helpful Room - small, low on facilities eg no kettle for tea making; noisy pipes; hotel 'resort charge' of 20+ per day for wifi and coffee station in lobby is bit cheeky for tech capital of the world with over 100+ starbucks in city
Rooms were small but clean. Hotel was well kept for its age. Location is in a difficult side of town. Hidden costs such as a $22.00 tax. We made them take it off. $59.00 for parking we were not told about the cost. Then our account was charged other amounts we had no idea what they were.
I really liked the architecture and our bellhop/concierge (they play double duty) was really nice. The rooms are small, which I expected from an old building. The mattresses are awful (truly, truly awful), which I din't expect and the price is high for low amenities and low quality. Also, the valet parking is $60/day. When we checked out, they asked how our stay was and I told them the mattresses were really uncomfortable and they just sort of ignored that. They probably hear it all the time. I won't stay there again.
Bed and quietness Location not the best, but it is San Francisco...
Staff were friendly. Lobby was nice. Close to union square. I quite liked te location. Room wasn't that clean, dust balls and items under the beds. Beds very soft as mattresses were old. Bathrooms looked very tired and were cramped. Wallpaper scuffed up badly. Needed remodel. Also there are a lot of homeless in this area, I got woken up every morning in the early hours with neurotic screaming and shouting from people sleeping outside.
Friendly & helpful staff. Location, and Jaspers as an option for meals & drinks. A little worn, coffeemaker inroom,
Great ambiance, very noce room & amenities, great restaurant & bar, helpful staff. All good, only exceptions- pricey parking, scary corner of town. Pricey parking, scary corner of town.
I typically stay at a large chain hotel but couldn't get one on a short notice - the price was right and I really enjoyed taking a break from the same large business hotels. The lobby takes you to another place in time and everyone was very friendly. The room was clean and quaint. My colleague was staying at the much larger Hilton right across the street and loved the Serrano when he stopped by. It was a nice break from the usual and well worth it!
Good location, clean rooms, reasonable rates Internet access is not for free. No breakfast. Noise from street
very close to city center they block the entire amount on your credit card since the first bight, even when you show up in time and you said you'll pay by cash
*close to everything *nice comfortable beds & linens *very inexpensive *staff had limited knowledge of hotel amenities. For example, when I called ahead, I was told there was no iron available (there was one in the room). There were many others. *If I had known that the hotel heating was centrally controlled and that it was turned off during the day, I would not have stayed at this hotel. It was cold, windy and rainy, and I could not get warm. As a result, I came down with a cold upon my return home. *The water pressure in the bathroom shower was a trickle *The walls were paper thin
convenient location; friendly staff weak wireless signal
In downtown Heater noise, and noise from prople walking on hall too loud
The staff was quite helpful and also let me leave my bag for the days whilst I was gone. I would highly recommend it and will plan on staying there next time I am in town!
The staff was very accommodating and we definitely got what we paid for. The walls are so thin. We got a noise complaint and had no idea why, then the next morning, the people in the next room were just talking and we heard every single word they were saying.
If you know which streets to skip, the location is good Too many homeless in the area. Remodeling made it dirty. The images are false advertising
strategic location, room furniture not too bad, im glad i got a white blanket but my fren got the red n he was so mad! despite all the noises came across(expected but front desk told us will not ok since we are getting a room facing the back but we still heard it, hard to imagine how bad for those rooms facing the street; so unlucky the lift breakdown and we need to carry our luggage by stairs!
Excellent, excellent hotel staff, could not be faulted. Hotel - good location and access to shops, theatres & restaurants. Although clean, bed linen - very worn and thin - in budget accom. Bed blanket - not appealing. towels etc; good quality.
Hotel location. The size of the room was significantly smaller than indicated on the website images.
The room was comfortable and the bar was friendly. The central heating is very noisy and kept us awake.
Convenient area and affordable Very slow elevator. Uncomfortable bed, tiny shower. Sink is right next to bed.
Low cost for the area. Conveniently location. Overall my room was reasonably quite despite the proximity to Union Square. Continental breakfast was pretty poor. Coffee was pretty watered down. I decided not to eat there during my 4-day stay.
Likes that the hotel was within walking distance for the yellow line and Union Square. Also enjoyed that it had super friendly staff. Slightly noisy with cable cars driving right in front of street, hard beds and not sure if AC existed. Beds, noise of cable cars.
Stratford hotel provides clean and comfortable rooms, and is located in download San Francisco. It is the best choice if you want to have a sightseeing or tour in San Francisco. Transportation and food are extremely convenient.
We booked this small hotel for the night before the Nike Marathon so we could be close to the starting gate. It is right off from Union Square which for some might be a plus ... for us a nightmare of noise and a stuffy, airless, tiny room with NO AC. And beware - they put a "deposit" of several hundred dollars on your card which they don't release until 4-5 days later. We checked out without staying .. no refund and we still have to wait several days for the deposit to come off our card. We walked over to the Westin St Francis ... and got a queen size room for $30 more than we paid for this hotel. The Westin of course had AC and clean, wonderful accommodations. We felt really dumb for not booking it in the first place.
The location was excellent. Also offered a complimentary continental breakfast every morning. Great value. n/a
I liked the locations and the staff was great. Trolley cars stop right in front Macy's around the cornedr Union square around the other corner. Foley's right down the street we were a little chillled, needed more blankets
Good location Although we booked a room with a queen-size bed, we were given a room with a double bed. The bed was too small and the room too stuffy/hot, so we asked to change rooms. They were booked and refused to switch rooms, so we ended up getting a last-minute hotel room nearby. They gave us the appropriate room the next day - the bed was better, but the window along Fulton St. couldn't close, so it was noisy. There is one elevator, and it is very slow.
The cleanliness was outstanding and the staff was wonderful. The room was tinier than my house bathroom alone! And the beds were awful. For the price, the location was awesome, but I didn't sleep at all for 3 nights.
location, clean room lobby looked a little old.
I booked three nights at hotel Stratford for a conference at the Hilton in Union Square. When I arrived, they informed me that there had been a bookkeeping mistake and they had overbooked for the second night. However, they had already reserved a nice room at the Adante hotel nearby and did not charge us for the second night. When I returned for the third night they upgraded me to a significantly nicer room which was much appreciated. Very friendly staff and an amazing location--I'll definitely be returning. The elevator is a bit slow, but it's not really a problem--it encouraged me to get some exercise by using the stairs a few times :) The breakfast isn't much, but it did the job and the coffee was hot and fresh.
It was basically in union square. The hotel was cleanly and the front desk staff where friendly. Breakfast was minimal but appreciated. It was excruciatingly small. I don't mind a smaller room but I tripped over the bed, chair, and cords many times! The cleaning staff knocked on our door at 9:00 am each morning! Come on, we wanted to sleep in on our vacation!
Great value! Great location for Moscone Convention Center. Cozy room (small), but very clean and quaint. Good for one person who's not planning to spend time in the room other than to sleep. T.V. was great with fast channel surfing, solid cable connection. Although old building, everything was very clean. Clean bathroom, great water pressure. I don't think there was room service - no menu or hotel binder in the room. Not a lot of space to put toiletries in the bathroom, but that wasn't a big deal. Wifi didn't work in the room - totally weak connection.
The parking is a bit expensive- I realize it's San Fran but $46/night seems excessive
The location was great. Yeah - theres homeless people outside BUT theres homeless people all over SF. My second room was good. I was originally put into a room on the second floor (avoid at all costs) and the windows were open when I got there (sign 1) - got them closed. Then my hot water didnt work and maintenance had to work on it for 30 min (sign 2). Finally when I slept it got so incredibly hot in my room that I was sweating. Not even the fan was keeping it cool. I should have changed rooms that night but it was 10 pm and I just worked a 12 hour day. The next morning I explained to the front desk all of the above and they immediately put me in a nicer room.
Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Clean. Helpful concierge. Central location near transport and theaters. Lovely Art Deco Architecture. Extensive vending machine. No Air Conditioning. No hotel movies. No room service.
It was 3 blocks to the Moscone Center. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Historic/ small rooms. Price was outrageous for the room - $349 a night (but we were there during the Pride Parade and Library Conference). We had to sleep with the windows open, weak AC - air temp not the problem, but street noise. Water pressure in shower came and gone. Both of us seating at the end of the bed flipped the mattress.. Surprise!
Cleanliness, location, price and everything Charging Extra 50 USD , for Incidental charges no doubt same wlll be refunded but they should have that much faith in customer
Unique room small but lots of windows that opened to Mission st and large wallirrir behind bed wall! !mission and 5 th st parking garage just across street , short walk to Moscone Center with Starbucks on way Close parking and walking distance to Moscone Center
I got early to the pickwick hotel I liked that they were able to get me a room by 1 pm
The price you pay for a hotel in that location was great. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The shampoo and lotion provided was good enough that I didn't need to use my own (it was Bath & Body Works brand). And the towels were nice and fluffy - not thin and scratchy. It was pretty worn around the edges. Facilities were old and walls were badly in need of a paint job. The room was small and the bed creaked. The WIFI was slow and unreliable. The walls were pretty thin and you could hear other guests and street noises clearly.
Location excellent! The mattress with its loud rubber squeaking was completely INSANE!!!? It was something from a comedy show or hidden camera. I have never imagined something so aweful. Worse yet, when we told the front desk, we were told a Manager would call us. Nope. We called amd emailed. No return call. There is no excuse to have such HORRIBLE customer service as to not even return a phone call.
The place had character good location staff was good Rooms weren't cleaned enough, broken outlet in bathroom and rooms were kind of tight
The AC seems not working, the vents blow hot air only. Opened all the windows to get some cool air but that was too loud as the room opens on to the busy road with lots of traffic. Wi-Fi is OK, but could not connect to VPN. It was a short stay checked in at midnight. I was travelling from East Coast, so that is 3 AM. Did not bother to complain to staff and checked out 8 AM local time.
Classy Good room service food Hidden cost for valet parking - $52 a night Hidden cost for a 50 cent aux cord - $100 deposit Hidden cost for more than 5 glasses ordered for guests House keeping failed to clean my room one day when I called them before leaving for the day specifically asking them to tidy up No Hot tub or pool
Expensive mini bar, breakfast etc
Room was nothing special the lobby and bar were cool The room was was average and bathroom was very old decore
The room and hallways where dark, the bathrooms are in bad shape (old and rusty), the tv was small and didn't have on demand. It used to be THE PLACE TO STAY in SF... Not anymore...needs a remodel urgently.
The staff and location were both excellent, the bar is also fun (and the reason I knew about the hotel to begin with). There sure are a lot of interesting chairs around! Room service was prompt and the food was tasty. The bed is comfortable and the rooms have pretty good noise control. The rooms are in dire need of updating. We stayed in a studio so the size was good, but things just seemed old. The walls needed touch up paint, the bathtub was peeling (about a 10'' section was missing plaster), the grout was stained, the hair dryer must be from 1985, the thermostat is old making it hard to control room temperature, the faucet was probably really awesome 20 years ago, but now it is difficult to get it in the "off" position, not good in a state experiencing a drought.
The bed was very comfortable. The room was dark with the curtains pulled closed. I stayed at the Clift this past weekend with my wife for a "staycation" away from the Oakland grind we call our normal lives. A few concerns with the Clift Hotel. When we arrived we were unsure about how the valet worked since there are no signs or "red jackets" (they wear black). We had to circle the block and call to find out what the deal was. It's also expensive, $52+ tax per night. Once we were in the Hotel we were told that our room wasn't ready, which was completely fine since we arrived 3 hours prior to check in time. We happily checked our bag and went for a stroll around union square. The problem is that the woman at the counter said we should expect a phone call with in the hour when our room was ready. We waited the hour and then another hour. No call. We then returned to the Hotel at 3pm and were told by the same women that it "should be ready within the hour."This would take us up to check in time...Finally at 4pm we complained and a manager upgraded us to a Jr. Suite and promptly gave us the keys. Sales Training: under promise and over deliver, not the other way around. Finally we arrive in our room and its pretty nice. It was on the 15th floor and the view was pretty urban SF high life. We were happy. The tub and painted surfaces were chipping and sup par. apparently this room costs $450+ per night, If I paid that I expect a little more attention to detail and quality. We dined at the Velvet Room, the Hotel's restaurant. We were offered a cold and breezy table next to the hallway leading to the bar but were happily seated in a lovely booth when we requested that. Dinner was delicious. The Redwood Room, their high shelf bar, is always crowded and all seating is reserved for $350+ bottle service. The common areas are nice, warm, and cozy. The room is three star. The overall experience is ok, we'll try another place next month and report back.
Great vibe in the hotel bar. Room service was slow, found a hair in my food, ordered a Coke three times and never got it, was provided with only a comforter and fitted sheet on my bed, food wasn't very good.
The location was very convienent. I chose to park down the street and save $30 for over night parking. Nice pillows and comfy bed. This hotel is really small the room was giving me an allegric reactions I could not breath, until we forced the window open. The shower curtain and shower smelled really bad. That was gross. I will not be staying here again.
Superb location right in the heart of San Francisco's Union Square area, excellent restaurants and shopping nearby. Beautifully decorated room that was quiet and serene. Standard room king was quite small. No room for more than a couple.
Old & tired Tired
Great food, staff and service. Valet took a little long.
I loved the large room! The space was great. Loved the airy feel.
Use the jaccuzzi, would have used the restaurant but it was too pricey. The people there seemed a bit stuffy, including the staff. When I asked a question it was like I was putting them out.
The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and the rooms style was not bad. The hotel is close to union square and great area to walk around. The decor pillows on our bed were dirty. My bathroom shower towel was only changed once during my four night stay. I found the restaurant prices high and the waiters were not so nice.
It nicely located near Union Square. The staff were very helpful. The hotel was clean and well kept. Our room was very nice except no view but that was ok. The hotel has complementary bikes for guest to use (great way to get around the city). Very comfortable place to stay. Would stay there again.
Location and decor.
The staff really was fantastic and pretty much bent over backwards to accomodate us in almost anyway possible. Plus I learned after the fact they are really pet friendly. Thats good to remember for the future. When I booked through booking.com the description said that the room I was booking would have a jacuzzi tub. I was going on a romantic get away and booked this room for this price becaue I thought it would have a jacuzzi tub. The room was beautiful, but no jacuzzi tub and the bathroom was a bit small at that.
Doggy Birthday Party Oliver's 3rd birthday. Benefit for animals that assist. Great get together. My toilet clogged the 1st night. very uncomfortable sitiutation. I am not a large person. (get my drift). so it wasnt anything that should have caused a problem.
Hotel Monaco used to be one of my fav hotels in SF. This new Marker is horrible. They closed the spa, breakfast is extra charge. Parking costs 58 dollars. Short on staff to take phone calls. Take your business somewhere else.
This hotel is well-located -- easy to walk to Union Square and Chinatown, walkable to the waterfront/Embarcadero, and a quick drive to the Mission, Golden Gate Park, etc. The staff could not be more pleasant and helpful. The lobby area is a nice place to lounge, and the rooms are comfortable. It would be really helpful to have coffee makers in the room or room service -- there is coffee in the lobby, but if you are traveling with kids or have an early morning, it is useful to have it in your room. I didn't care for the fact that the water bottles in the room had price tags. It would also be nice if the wine service rotated wines.
I've stayed at this property several times and it's convenient and a great property. My room had a moldy smell that got worse over the two nights I stayed -- I haven't had this experience at a Monaco before ....
The decor was cute, and the room cleanliness we immaculate. Hotel rooms in San Francisco are pretty small, and this is no exception. However, the reception area was luxurious and beautiful, perfect during their evening wine receptions. I could go on about the wonderful staff- really, all of them acted like they were my friends, excited to tell me all about the good shopping, eating, et nearby that I HAD to try ; ) They were right too!
Location. Rooms were clean. Rooms small, older building, odd furnishings, no views. San Francisco has many great hotels but this is not one of them.
Great hotel - feels very luxurious, good staff, and complementary wine hour! Highly recommended. Our second visit and we'll definitely stay there again when in SF. Rooms could be larger. Area - although only a couple of blocks from Union Square - gets more edgy late at night, but that's how San Francisco works.
Rooms were very clean and maid service was very good. Situated close to all transport and close to China Town which had some great meals. Our room was situated on the street side of the hotel. Whilst initially apprehensive about possible road noise, it was no problem at all and we slept quite well as the bed was extremely comfortable.
Comfort, closeness to downtown, cleanliness and kindness of staff
The hotel was very centrally located to everything! Easy walk to restaurants, and Union Square. I wish we had a coffee maker in the room, however coffee was served in the lobby and my request is that they change the time. Serving time was 5am to 7am. Maybe make it later to at least 8am??
Friendly staff, clean room, nice surroundings, quite near to the cable car station The room was very small, but still okay
The reception I received when I got there.
I liked the friendly staff and location. The shower curtain was too short so the bathroom flor got soaked after every shower.
Location was very good. Hotel was warm but Luckilly I had a bathroom with window that I could open. It's an old buidling with an old looking furniture, but you that when you make a reservation.
Great location and wonderful staff. There is no heat in the rooms.
Excellent location and very convenient. Great character and charm. Welcoming atmosphere both the staff and the general feel. Nice lobby. The toilet didn't always flush properly. The hot water in the sink did not turn off easily. You may be losing a lot a water if a guest isn't persistent about getting it turned off. We had to wait a long time to check in. Probably our fault for arriving at 2:30 in the afternoon.
Staff was terrific, room was charming nothing
Location, mainly. Good sized room. I needed to do a bit of work so the desk was handy.
Clean room good shower City noise very disruptive to sleep. I actually got up the next A.M. to find out where street work was being done.
It was in a great location. Close to restaurants, Market St for shopping, cable car very close, Rooms are clean, offers (HBO, Free Wi-Fi and Restaurant in the Hotel) The rooms are to small, to hot in the room (muggy), drinking glasses were not wrapped in plastic, parking is to expensive.
easy Too much furniture in the double room!
The staff was very friendly, there was an elegant ambiance about the whole place. Didn't get a chance to dine at the in-house restaurant, but it was very busy the whole stay so it must have been good (though expensive). This hotel is located in the heart of San Francisco, so getting to other restaurants and shops was easy as pie. The cleanliness of the room could be improved, there were several hairs on our bed and a big stain on the sheets. The room size was very small, and had very little natural lighting because our window faced another building. The bathroom was teeny, though immaculately clean. Also, the parking offered by the hotel is $50, so it is cheaper to park in the parking garage if you are just staying one night like we did ($23).
Excellent customer service Building is too old
It was close to everything!!! Its in a really noisy part of town
average good. very kind hotel staff and wonderful location. and safe.
The room set up was very comfortable and allowed for eating, watching a movie and playing a game with my kids. And the bed/bedding was very nice. The smell in the room was not great; we brought in a few gardenias from the flower stand and it did the trick.
The location was great, just a couple blocks from the Powell cable car turnaround, bart station, and all the Union Square shops. We had a room on the top floor and it was a good size for a city hotel. Great location also meant that there was a lot of street noise at all hours (eg, nightclub across the street). But we just kept the fan on as white noise and it was fine.
The location and value of the hotel is easily the best in San Francisco. We have stayed at this hotel many times and are always very satisfied with the service Nothing
Return stay at Hotel Abri was great. I was upgraded to complimentary suite. Staff is always very helpful and friendly.
