This is a very charming hotel, but our favorite part was the breakfast - the best we had on our trip. No.
Wonderful location in a beautiful old walled town. Great shopping in interesting venues. Lovely countryside.
The hotel renovations were perfect. They updated the rooms without taking away the 13th century ambiance of the building. The rooms are huge with bare wood floors. The hotel location couldnt be better.Close to the marktplatz. And if you love italian food, be sure to eat at Roma's. Be prepared to wait for a table, but the food is spectacular. The breakfast buffet is described as extensive, but it wasnt!
It was absolutely authenic and the service and accomodations were superb.
The location was perfect, close to the town center and the staff was great- they spoke excellent English and were able to assist with directions. Not one thing!
I loved the friendliness of the hotel staff, the hours for check-in (up to 2200), the modern spacious room, the new bathroom, the location of the hotel, close to the marketplace and the garden area. This hotel was one of the best I've stayed in. NO
Old. but very comfortebale, disigner hotel. I like very much this place - the hotel and the city. no
Really in down town. Staff very friendly and realy life their lifes for the hotel. I would say that the breackfast could be better but was reasonable. The hotel inside and outside is marvelous... As I sad before the breakfast was ok
The atmosphere is really great My hotel room did not have a minibar.
The hotel lobby room and dining area is lovely and very comfortable, the bathroom in our room was beautiful. The decor of previous centuries is enchanting. And the location is superb.
Everything about this hotel is very good. Could not fault it at all.
Good location, good facility. I think this hotel itself is very good, but compare to another hotel in this city, it is a bit expensive, cost performance is not good. The other was much better for me. If tea maker is equipped, very useful.
Perfect location within the city walls to walk around and see everything. The best Xmas store in the world is next door. Even though our room was very comfortable the room had an odd (or old)odor about it, as if the windows had never been opened.
It's staff and location
location excellent no coffee/tea service in the room
location, sitting area, piano music with coffee, parking valet, large bathroom, view no free wifi, paying for breakfast,
excellent location. breakfast was very good, service was very good did not have in room coffee and tea
The customer service was excellent. I had an outing planned for one day of my trip and the packed a meal for me to take with me that was wonderful. They went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The room was amazing and furnished beautifully with antiques. I highly recommend this hotel.
very good location
The hotel indulges you in the medieval times with its classic design, furniture and decoration, and also it matches well with the place Rothenburg. It's a very romantic place to stay.
Very friendly and welcoming hosts, helpful with suggestions. Comfortable, large room...unaware other guests staying in hotel until breakfast. Excellent location within town walls. Would recommend highly for stay in Rothenburg.
Good for visiting the city
Spacious rooms, excellent location, good quality breakfast One bedroom smelt of tobacco smoke
The location was excellent and in walking distance from everything
Location was wonderful. The hotel had a nice atmosphere and the room was cozy. The shower was a little awkward.
Absolutely splendid hotel, and wonderful staff. as a non smoker, would prefer if towels did not smell like cigarettes. but, still would highly recommend this hotel.
friendly hotel staff, good breakfest
most of the staff was very nice. The room was very clean and cozy. In a great location.
Great location near center of town, had off street parking No one to help with luggage
Friendly staff ! It was perfect !
Location was ideal. Parking options available through the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean.
Very friendly staff and excellent atmodphere
Breakfast buffet was great, great location, Old world charm. Water pressure and temperature of the water during a shower was a real challenge.
Dinner menu was good, including menu for children. Breakfast buffet was included and had a nice variety. Dogs are allowed (6 Euro per day) -- even big dogs like our Boxer -- in the rooms and in the restaurant. Parking was relatively inexpensive (6 Euro) per day (approx 200m walk from hotel).
Front staff is very kindness. Comfortable big room, quiet position, great restaurant for dinner. .Safety parking at hotel garage.
Wonderful large room in center of the old town. Good breakfast and helpful staff.
It is a charming hotel in a romantic city. A welcoming staff and a good restaurant in the heart of the city. The parking lot is two blocks far from the hotel.
How friendly and personable the staff was. They did everything to make our stay comfortable.
Excellent Retaurant food and breakfast
Postion and cleanliness
The Hotel was great for an overnighter with a family of 4 to the beautiful city of Rothenburg. The room and the bathroom was a nice size for 4. I think we enjoyed the location and staff the most. Everyone was friendly and the Hotel was minutes away for the Markt Square, but not on a major walk way. Still trying to get used to the beds! A little hard for me.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were traveling with another couple and they put us next to each other with a shared terrace. We spent every eveing out there enjoying the quite and the wine.
This hotel was easy to get to. It had large rooms and a modern bathroom. Onsite parking was available. The ease of registration and paying. meal was not included in the price though this was minor though.
Location was great to the center of town and to get by foot. Upset that they didn't post the fee for the dogs on the website instead of saying "charges may be applicable".
Location We had seperate beds. Would have been nice to have the option of a double bed.
A very beautiful hotel that is modern, clean and yet historically preserved. Our rooms were as nice as any I have stayed in throughout Germany. There was WLAN thoughout the hotel, however it was not free as many hotels provide today. None
Very quaint hotel in a good location. Nice staff and very clean.
excellent facilities and staff. good condition of room.
traveling trough Breakfast
I liked that it was placed in the center of the city breakfast was poor
Location Staff not very helpful
Very very comfortable beds. The owner told us it was okay to park on the street in front, but we got a parking ticket. He didn't read the street sign any better than us and he speaks German. But I guess ultimately that was our responsibility to try and read it.
The location of the hotel was excellent right inside the walled town Staff disappeared moments after we arrived but they were pleasant enough. They wouldn't accept payment by credit card but wanted cash. The room was painted pink with 'racing stripes' and had a red tartan throw with a crimson satin pleated valence. A bit strange and out of character for the area.
Very simple, but just perfect. Room very clean, not very expensive. The building has centuries and has been renovated as someone's house.
Reasonable rates, convenient location, decent breakfast. Street side of hotel has traffic noise. (Valley side does not).
The location was excellent and so was the owner. He was very helpful. The room was very clean as well. I would stay there again. If you are a light sleeper I recommend not getting room that is on the street as the cars and people going up and down the cobblestone gets quite noisy. Also, this really is not a family hotel so if you have children you will want to stay somewhere else.
Free wifi and nice environment. The bed too soft.
the closeness of everything, did not have to drive at all. Noise of traffic
The good food and friendly staff at the Hotel/Gasthof
Very friendly, helpful staff. Great location. Lack of air conditioning & elevator. For all I know, this is characteristic of all hotels in this area.
Pleasant, quiet and spacious for a family of four. Lovely restaurant as part of the hotel
The hotel is very well positioned in the heart of the town. The room was clean, spacious, well maintained and comfortable. The man who checked us in walked with me from the hotel to where I had parked my car and drove with me back to the hotel car park. The breakfast. There are plenty of bread rolls in a basket on your table but not too much else to go with it. As soon as the staff refresh the small plates of butter, cheese and cold meats, hungry, waiting guests empty them.
Helpful staff. Went out of their way to help us with parking (which is difficult at this location). Lack of elevator. Not surprising in this type of hotel and only a minor inconvenience for us.
Just about everything! Extra clean and friendly hotel! Our room was outstanding. On the top floor, you have a great view! The location is right downtown old Rothenburg. Everything is in walking distance. We liked it so much, we decided to stay another night! Hard to get parking right by the hotel, but the staff will tell you where you can park for free.
The hotel room was a good size for a family of four. The staff was very helpful. The food was good at breakfast (included) and lunch.
Fantastic location in the ehart of the city. Very nice breakfast. Very accommodating with a late checkout.
This was my second stay at this hotel. I would recommend it for the location and because it represents good value for money.
good location near center.
Both exterior and interior design is great. The hotel restaurant does not open for lunch and dinner during our stay.
Excellent rooms and antiques in the reception areas.
The location was perfect and we had a great view. The beds were not very comfortable, but this hotel was a great place to stay and I plan to stay there again.
Location, breakfast and view from breakfast room was fantastic. Also, the hotel staff were amazingly friendly. When the gate we needed to get through was closed and we had to find another, the manager met us in his car and had us follow him there! The only think I didn't like were the beds. They were a little hard but everything else was so fantastic that it more than made up for the beds.
The location of the hotel and the view from the room were great They were in the process of renovating the hallway
The breakfast was fresh and the view from the dining room was so worth staying here. The bed was comfortable...I have fybromyalgia, so this was important to me. The hotel is very central and while we had issues with the cleanliness of the hotel, the location was great. Parking is close by and easily attainable, and private for hotel guests. We were able to leave our car while we walked through the town after we checked out. The bathroom was awful...cramped, no proper shower, dusty and non-private...it's just a cupboard with a sliding door. The decor did not match and the color scheme was ghastly. The silk flowers on the table were old and dirty. The skirting on the bed was stained and looked old. It needs a lot of work and attention. The dining room buffet area was being renovated while we had breakfast.
The staff was very friendly and the hotel itself is very picturesque. One morning the bread was moldey and the fruit salad everyday was poor quality (canned). The rest of the meal (and stay) were just fine.
The children had a great time playing with the Wii and the pool table, our room was huge with fabulous views the staff were very friendly. We would have liked a shower in the bathroom.
we really enjoyed our stay and even extended it for 2 days. The staff was excellant. The location was perfect. The room was very good. The only negative -there was no wi-fy in the rooms.
The hotel was convenient to walking in the town. The kids liked the two bedroom feature. The bathroom was shared between the two rooms. If we had only booked for two people we were wondering if the bath would have been shared. There was no mention of this in the information. The hotel was undergoing some work. It was not noisy, but everything was outdated and not in an antique way.
Warm and luxury hotel, feel very comfortable. Delicious breakfast.
Wonderful hotel in ancient building, fabulous location next to best sites. Staff was cheerful and helpful. Surprisingly easy to get to once you get used to driving down narrow medieval streets. We were given a terrific room. Nothing- a highlight of our trip.
The location was ideal. Remote enough to be quiet but yet right in the old town of Rothenburg and easy walking distance to everything. Very large accommodations for a family of 4 or 5 with a ping pong table for children to enjoy. Breakfast room with a beautiful view.
The room was awesome, with a nice view. Bathroom had a nice tub. The breakfast was good and the hotel is really cozy.
Location was magic. Breakfast looking over the wall of Rothenberg was amazing.
The rooms were wonderful, the staff was very helpful and the location was fantastic.
The hotel was fantastic! It was by far the best hotel I've seen for under 300 euros a night, and the rates were far below that.
Wonderful friendly staff! Great breakfast with amazing view from dining room, unique and beautiful room, walking distance to everything, very close to Market Square, parking next to front door twin mattresses on that beautiful double bed, no shower door or curtain
The silence of the room and the breakfast.
We had an amazing view of the valley from our room. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of warmth. The breakfast was okay but not up to standards of hotels of this class that we'd stayed in before. They had only one person working in the breakfast room and although she did a pretty good job she was so busy that she probably only did half the job she could have with another person's help.
The best hotel of all romantic route. Giant room, excelent internet, excelent employees, excelent position and a beautiful garden with a soberb view. Everything magnificent. One of the best hotels.
Location in the centre was excellent. Parking was limited but acceptable given the location.
Everything. Great staff. Great food. Great room. Great location. We will return. no
The staff is wonderful. The location spectacular. The food 5-star. No!
Very large unique distinctive rooms.
This was the best hotel of our Germany trip! Everything about it was wonderful - location, rooms, service, staff, breakfast buffet. There was nothing that wasn't just adorable about this hotel. Attention to every detail. Andrea at the front desk was great and even gave us a Schneeballen gift when we left. We would recommend this hotel in a second and return if we were to return to Rothenburg. Nothing. Everything was fantastic.
Three of us had 3 rooms and spent 3 nights. What's not to like about a hotel that was built in the 13th century and still includes all the modern conveniences. The rooms were spacious, clean, and in great shape. Breakfast was also great and the staff was very helpful. Thank God they wisked the car off to some parking place and returned it on command - since the town is ancient with streets that weren't built for an A6 Audi station wagon. It is right in the middle of this great town, so no need to drive or hike a long distance to see it all. The keys for the room doors are relics of another age - hard to get to work; but a minor inconvenience in the scheme of things.
very clean, comfortable and a friendly staff. the breakfast buffet was excellent,, too.
It was an all around great place, except for parking in the inner city, but can easily be arranged without any issues Stay was too short
hotel sataff and the location of the hotel
The staff was excellent and the food in the restaurant was also very good. The beds are really very firm and I had a hard time sleeping comfortably.
The staff were very nice, helpful, always with a smile on their face. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was good too. There was no lift. And we preferred to have a bath and shower. We only had a shower.
friendliness and service readiness of staff
Erica, the hotel manager was an angel. She accomodated our every need, including preparing a sack breakfast for us so that we could depart early in the morning to make our flight connections in Frankfurt. The hotel it self is also very classy.
Great location, very nice staff, lovely rooms The rooms in the old section aren't as nice as the new section, but strangely cost more.
Everything was superb - from the friendly initial greeting until the end of our stay. We stayed in the new section of the hotel and the rooms were very large and simply charming. We could not fault it. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent value and the breakfast was fantastic. Brilliant location as well. Do yourself a favour! Could not fault anything!
Excellent room, with a taste of the old town. Excellent location from the town center. Computer right outside our room. Excellent service and staff. Nothing, excellent in all categories
atmosphere, food no
Freindly staff, very clean, good food and a very very enjoyable experience. . absolutely nothing
Atmosphere, staff, free wifi Room a little small
The staff was very helpful and made us feel at home and welcome. The entire place oozed hospitality and medevial history. No complaint. I'll book there again.
Two blocks walking from the market square. The room very romantic, we had de internet modem inside the room so everything great. About the parking, the girl form the reception desk showed us where to park to avoid payment. We left the car like 30 meters from the hotel. Also very good breakfast, overall the juices offered. We got a key to get into the hotel afert 10 pm. Follow the recommendation of the hotel for restaurant and ask for the sauce hamburguer. Excelente place.
Room is well decorated, clean, price is reasonable, breakfast is good free wireless internet is slow
did not mention that our bath was not in suite, was down the hall and required a key for privacy. rooms were tacky, cluttered - just not necessary for a hotel. felt more like we were in someones personal home, rather uncomfortable feeling. the "family room" was actually two seperate rooms with no bath in either.
Location is great. Only a block from the main city market place. Was hard to find, parking is on street.
very helpful and welcoming. Food was delicious, service excellent.
The bathroom box has music in there!! So cool. The decoration can describe best in term of Rothenburg culture. Difficult to find the hotel because the name "Gastehaus Edith" is written very small on the window.
The room is the Middle ages style, make me feel so relax. clean and bright.
Nice quiet street just inside the inner wall of the altstadt. Fresh and adequate breakfast. Looked after our luggage while we explored the town the next morning. Te climb to the 4th floor was tough but the view over the roofs was nice. Staff could have been a bit friendlier. They need to have a sign outside with the name Gastehaus Edith on it. No air conditioning....this summer has been particularly hot.
The breakfast and their bath shower!
We had not a small room, we had a large apartments! it was unexpectedly and very nicely. There were home furnishings and good location.
Central location. Very dated facility. I know the town is old but the rooms require refreshing.
Staff was great! Very accommodating and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service. The rooms where clean and well maintained. Wify was easily accessed. The hotel is located very close to the main square and while the parking is a few blocks away it was easy to dro[ off the bags right at the hotel then park the car with a pleasant walk back to the hotel and the parking was free. Great value! Rooms can be a bit small.
The owner and staff of the Hotel Kurcafe were outstanding. We could not ask for nicer people. Great location and good food. Typical of all European hotel rooms, tiny bathroom. Certainly not their fault.
It was a Great Value for the money. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the location was superb. I was surprised at the lack of the little things in the room, like there were no wash cloths & the bathroom was miniscule!
Internet access from rooms was poor to non existent.
Very Courteous staff and very helpful with local info. Breakfast was adequate but had poor selection.
Its location is priveleged No bad points to mark
They made a change with our room so that we could have 3 people in one room. Ordinary. Nothing special. Parking was difficult. Ended up with a ticket for parking in the wrong area. Wasn't explained so well.
Very central and right in the heart of the City. Restaurant was good and wine a reasonable price. Staff very helpful. Beds a bit narrow, and 400 metres from carpark
Location was fantastic, couldn't have been better and parking available. Free Wi-fi, staff friendly and helpful. We had two double rooms - right next to each other. Breakfast was a bit expensive for what was available in comparison to other similar hotels with similar breakfast prices we'd experiences in Bavaria. Foyer area smells a bit smokey but that is just something you get sometimes in Europe as smoking laws are so different to Australia - but room was fine, not smokey at all.
Friendly staff, comfortable room, child-friendly no internet access in hotel.
A family run business providing wonderful hospitality in an excellent location within the walled town.
Very friendly,great old building,excellent breakfast.
A charming small hotel inside the walls of the old town with a friendly helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. I have no complaints about the hotel
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The hotel, and city, was akin to living a fairy tale. The owner was present at breakfast, was very gracious, spoke to everyone and even helped carry my luggage to the car. Highly recommended!
The hotel itself was very quaint and oldy-worldy, with interesting objects on display throughout. The old fashioned wash stand in the bathroom was a lovely touch! (of course, there was a normal washbasin as well!) The whitehaired gentleman (presumably the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful, and made a point of going round talking to all the guests at breakfast time, helping with directions, tips, etc. Different to other hotels we stayed in, where breakfast was self serve, in this hotel we were brought dishes of meat and bread to each table so we could help ourselves without getting up. The hotel also smelt of wonderful cooking smells when we arrived and in the morning when we woke up - all hotels should smell this delicious! no shower curtain round the bath, so had to take care when showering, but not a big problem.
The owner and his wife are the most wonderful hosts immaginable. They made our stay there unforgetable. No.
We had a wonderful stay in the Sptizweg. The location is quiet, but conveniently close to all the major sites. The hotel itself is lovely. There is free parking in the hotel courtyard which was very convenient (and included in the hotel rate.) The breakfast, also included in the rate, is wonderful and is prepared by the hotel owner, who is generous and friendly host. We will be returning to Rothenburg, which is a wonderful city to visit, and could not imagine staying anywhere else but the Spitzweg Hotel. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Lovely hotel near the heart of the walled city of Rothenberg ob der Tauber. All buildings in this village are very old but the interior and facilities of the hotel are very nice, designed to match the old world charm of this storied village. A good breakfast was included. Owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Parking in the village is very limited, however they have their own parking lot in the back. They even allowed us to leave our car there for the day to stroll around after we'd checked out. We were there in October, which we enjoyed it all the more; the foggy nights and mornings just added to the overall ambience of the area We realize that internet in an ancient village such as Rothenburg is practically nonexistent, but it would have been perfect if we had internet to take care of a couple of business matters back home.
The hotel is located near the centre and their hospitality. No internet facilities
Hotel Spitzweg is a charmer. The only thing better than the quaint, comfortable rooms (large by European standards) is the staff. This independently run hotel was a great value. I immediately decided to extend my stay by one night after checking in.
