THe room was amazing - largest I've ever seen in NYC. And sumptious.
We were at the Waldorf during the Blizzard. Ordered room service for dinner (no restaurants were open) at 6:15pm, and they told us 1.5 hour wait. Fine, they were really busy. So, it wasn't until 8:45 that I called down to ask where was our order. It took them 15 minutes to discover that they had no record of our order, but they would expedite. So, we got our food by 9:20. One would have thought they would have comped us SOMETHING. Dessert, even. But, they didn't comp a thing. A REAL classy hotel would have offered something. Points off for that.
Very attentive, but not overdone and a great room very comfortable. Refreshing old world charm - it takes you back to a slower pace enjoying a drink at the Bull and Bear.
Grand lobby Pleasant hotel aroma Clean Friendly customer service
Couldn't control room temperature Rooms a little outdated
Other than our problem with the heat in the room, its a wonderful hotel to stay at. Staff never fixed the problem.
When we first arrived it was very cold in NYC for October the room was temp was in low to mid 60's . We called and someone came to fix one of the heaters in the room ( we had two thermostats in a suite) The heater started working, but neither heater could heat up the room above 69 degrees. My wife is always cold and we live on the West Coast where it had been in the low 90's when we left. They never fixed it and, fortunately the weather got warmer and the room got to 72 degrees, which is the highest temp it ever got. Would hate to stay there in the Winter. If my wife was writing this review she would be much crtical than I becasue of the heat.
Poorly trained staff...unlike expectation. There were only 2 people actually handling the 15 people in line while 4 more were in the back. Checked luggage never arrived. ..had to retrieve it after hour wait.
The room was very small and had a mold smell.
Location was nice
Hotel is run down and not living up to its glamourous past.
We loved the hotel, will stay only there from now on, as we travel to New York frequently
Make sure you don't get a room next to the hotel HAC units, they are noisy
The Waldorf-Astoria was everything I expected it to be -- old fashioned elegance with modern amenities and the most attentive staff, from the valets to the front desk to the concierge to the housekeepers in the hallways. Everyone was wonderful. The location was great -- a few short blocks from Rockefellor Center and St. Patrick's and Grand Central and Central Park. I've had family and friends recommend the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, but I definitely preferred the location on Park Avenue -- bagels and coffee and slices of pizza and formal dining of all kinds all within a block or two on the east side. Just perfect.
The air conditioning could have been a little crisper. It felt like it wasn't taking all the humidity out of the air. (Our sheets felt damp. Cool, but damp.) Other than that, I loved every bit of our stay.
Old, dated hotel. Rooms are a bit dumpy. Staff is not friendly
