This is the second time my friends and I have stayed at this hotel and when in NYC again we would plan on staying here again. Located near 2 different subway lines, both with in block walks, truly uptown near the park, museums, and Times Square it is close to the action but far enough away to be able to enjoy a little relaxation in what can be an overwhelming city to some. The staff has been exceptional both times I have stayed here. Highly recommended in a city full of hotels.
Big room by NYC standards, nice facilities, clean and comfortable, super comfy bed
The walls are paper thin and there was a group of girls (bachelorette party?) walking and talking through the hall all night. It sounded like they were in my room, shouting in my ear. Suffice to say I couldn't sleep.
Location is great. I like their renovation. Rooms are very clean with nice and fresh decor.
Parking is damm expensive, should be more subsidized.
Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Superb service.
Cleanliness and Kindness of staff
Very central, near attractions, restaurants, stores, subway, etc. and nice rooms.
Parking a bit complicated. Good if you plan to leave your vehicle parked for the entire stay, but no in and out.
total confusion at check in. asked if i wanted early check in. yes, i replied. at 2:15 room not ready. why ask if not able to fulfill some requests. we were awakened 4 yes 4 times by the terrible terrible smell of smoke coming out of the vents in our bathroom. we were offered free breakfast but we already had that over the screw up of the room reservation. never never again the double tree
Rooms were an ok size
No room service, hair in shower, bathroom dirty, can hear people having sex from down the hall from my room, pills were left under my bed, when I arrived I was told there was only accessible rooms available and was informed that there was not much counter space in bathroom but did not inform me that the shower head would be lower and I am almost 6 feet tall. The workers there we not very informative and looked at me like I was bothering them.
I booked a deluxe King. They downgraded me to a standard King. I explained what I booked and they disagreed. The room they gave me was above the emergency room of a hospital. I heard sirens all night.
Wonderful staff welcome cookie was wonderful wonderful room
the room was too warm - could not turn the thermostat low enough for the room to be comfortable.
The room was clean, good location.
They put my boyfriend and I (25-27 years old) in a handicap accecible room where the shower head did not extend high then my chin. We had to hunch down to take a shower.
Spacious for a Manhattan hotel. We got Hilton Honors rooms though we aren't Honors members
Fact that gym doesn't have a shower. Usually hotels offer guests access to common facilities after check out - especially if they have a late evening flight out of the city. This includes use of health club and showers. This was not allowed by Double Tree.
AC system within individual rooms did not keep room cool enough for 90 degree temperature outside.
the location and cleanliness were fantastic, especially for the price
The staff was incredibly rude, and I say that as someone with a high tolerance for such things. One woman at the front desk particular, whose name I didn't get, really ought to be fired. We went downstairs in the morning to check out and asked if we could store our belongings. I asked one question about whether the storage room was locked/secure (we had a lot of valuables in our suitcases), and she rolled her eyes and said "EVERYONE has to keep their stuff there, not just you". Okay. Flashforward to when we pick our bags up, and she stands there at the front desk and told me to wait 5 minutes until she would help me. I patiently wait, after which she says she's closed, and refuses to help. She yelled at me to go talk to the bartender about getting our wedding cake that we had stored in their fridge, and when I said that the bar wasn't open and the bartender wasn't there, she argued and yelled at me some more, and then walked away. I'm a pretty quiet, polite person, and I also have a good understanding that the service professional can be stressful. But she really created a stressful situation out of a few very simple questions/requests for no reason whatsoever. Perhaps they are understaffed in general.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Staff was friendly. We brought our baby and everyone was very accommodating. Upgraded to King room with free wifi. Great location on upper east side. Right next to subway. Walked most places. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend.
They are renovating the lobby, so it's a bit of a mess.
They gave us the wrong room.
We liked the location (close to good restaurants, Rockefeller center, central Park and subway station); we like the room (It was clean, is NOT small, the bed was very comfortable); we liked the hotel restaurant and bar as well. We had free WiFi. The staff was very nice. Parking next to the hotel was expensive but is Manhattan, so it was expected.
The convenience to where I needed to be.
The fact that they charge for wifi in the rooms is ridiculous.
They provided us with a handicapped room. We tried to change a room, but unable to do so. We were told that Kayak p provided us whatever is the cheapest room available at time when you make a hotel reservation online. It would be helpful if your company provide more information how to reserve a hotel room for those who are infrequent travelers beforehand. In addition, we were charged additional $250.00 for what? Learn from this trip and do a better planning next time!
The room was sufficient, definitely what was advertised. It was quaint and perfect for what we needed.
The front desk workers were unfriendly, rude, and smug.
No internet Service free for guests
$50 a night for a cot. $15 a day for wifi in your room. Right across the street from a fire station.
